Hit the enter key to quick... We'll went to my 5* dealer to get price on fixing dent in rear panel. Turns out that dents were not caused by door opening but shopping cart. The body man checked it out and said that's what he thinks caused this. Too deep to use Dent Wizard. His price was $350 and hopes that the paint will match k. Said that light colors sometime show. He's going to "cut" into door so painting more than I thought. Checked out price with another 5* dealer where I work. His price was $618. Woo!! Brought car to my dealer last night and hope to have it back by Friday. I will keep you posted on results. LOOSE SHOPPING CARTS!!!!!!
Nice find on the www.chrysler-parts.com web site. We'll definitely add that to the Club web site links.
Shirts: Preliminary info only, but the friendly and helpful staff at the Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club ( http://www.300mclub.org ) is working on the details of a Club logo golf/polo shirt that will be available for purchase by Club members.
Legal stuff: Our copyright agreements with DaimlerChrysler require us to limit sales of Club logo merchandise to Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club members only. We don't have final pricing yet, but we plan to offer a good quality embroidered golf/polo style shirt substantially cheaper than the final bid prices of 300M T-shirts currently being auctioned on EBay.
From today's Dallas Morning News: DaimlerChrysler AG said Tuesday that the next versions of larger Chryslers would use MB steering systems, axles and transmissions to same money and improve quality (Hooray!) at the unprofitable U.S. unit. The Chrysler 300M, LH and Concorde and the Dodge Intripid will use those parts from Mercedes E-Class cars, said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler unit."
Beach-He's probably abandoned Photopoint since they are going to a pay for use plan instead of remaining free. His e-mail is sjensen666@hotmail.com for those interested. I ordered a bunch of stuff from The Chrysler Collection (coats, shirts, etc.) last year. They had about 10 items for the 300M. Their website listed in the catalog (www.chryslercollection) never worked, and I haven't received a new catalog. This site http://www.jeepwarehouse.com/merch.asp basically had scanned the catalog and sold online. I haven't looked to see if they still had 300 stuff, but I got a t-shirt, a jacket, a polo, and something else from them but they discontinued a lot of the items, but I don't know if they did that to put out new ones.
ooooh, i was looking at the pix of the face lifting on the clock faces and i dunno..... looks like major surgery to me....
any idea on the price of the clock faces?
they are great and hellmary sure would looook nice on that face. LOL...
called chrysler customer service to get this rotor taken care of... as russ mailed me .. i have never heard of rotor's being disposable in my life. heck, i've owned cars that had years and serious miles on them and never had to replace a rotor before... here's this flagship car and it's disposable. 30 thousand bucks later and they tell me disposable..
the customer service said they are sending the file to the local rep and will have them contact me.
any suggestions to say to this person when they call back with the dealership BS about it not being covered under warranty and such?
Dustin - I checked the chryslercollection and jeepwarehouse sites and looked at the catalogs at the dealers...the only M apparel that DC appears to make right now is the tie...which is just stupid.
Exhaust - BigRed is currently getting her new lungs at Ed Hanson performance muffler in Spring Valley (outside San Diego). I have taken a couple pictures of Ed's PT Cruiser (as requested) and should be able to post pics of both it and Big Red tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. When I pulled in Ed said "What the hell did you use to shine your car?" He's placing his Zaino order today.
License Plates - I ordered a personalized license plate the other day... California "BIGREDM"
Putting 2 and 2 together, it sounds like Chrysler has gone out of the apparel business (e.g. the Chrysler store in Mall of America is now closed and there is nothing available on-line). I'd bet dollars to donuts (not KKs) that the Ebay seller has bought out the stock of discontinued merchandise and is offering it, one item at a time, on EBay. I'd love to have one of the embroidered T-shirts, but I'm not going to bid against my 300M "buds", and I'm certainly NOT going to pay $40 for a T-shirt.
The 300M Enthusiasts Club can do better, and we will!
and you can email him at sjensen666@hotmail.com to when you decide what style you want. The installation is not that hard if you're not afraid to take your car apart "just a little bit." The results are worth it.
Hizzoner the VP (DrPixel) is working on it and it should be in the mail pretty soon. We had a RUN of new members getting in on the Charter Member special offer. The Good Doctor puts together a "mean" membership kit, so you'll be happy when you get it.
(You will have to select Show All. The installation instructions are here as well as pics of installations. There are cools pics of one surrounded by wood trim. I don't really like wood trim, but it's still cool.)
If you want a 300M shield, tell me which type, if you want text, tell me what is should say. Send me a graphic, and I'll slap it on if you want.
that wants to sign up for your membership without making uncle sam rich using postage, i forgot a certain part of my application for the membership, and i went back to the M site and selected the HTML form and then copied the entire application and then pasted it onto my outlook express and was able to edit the information that way. this might be another way for the paypal users to use their paypal account and also get the application to you without using the snail-mail.
as for the faces... just exactly HOW many nails am i looking at breaking to get it installed?
what do i gotta do to install it? i'm going to check out the site now, so, i will send scotian an email when i grab the graphic and tell him which and what i would like.
I liked the tie, but my company had just gone to business casual (I work at our corporate office), so I got to stop wearing ties!!! Yea!!!! Oh well. lalarry-wasn't me. Now if you see an XXL item come up, I'll be right on top of it. I have a 52 inch chest and 38 inch arms, so XL's are a bit tight on me!
For dinner, go to the Sardine Factory on Cannery Row. Get the abalone bisque. Yummy. The food is great; a little expensive but tasty and with huge portions. I think they have a Joe's Crab Shack there as well that is okay for a chain joint. There is a place called Tarpy's Roadhouse on the road between Monterey and Salinas ( Rt. 68) but right on the outskirts of Monterey that is really good for lunch or dinner. In Pacific Grove there is a place called, I think, the Old Bath House which is very close to a picturesque place called Lover's Point. PG is immediately north of Monterey on a winding ocean road that takes you past some incredible scenery; right through a golf course and immediately next to the ocean. By all means, go on 17-Mile Drive where Pebble Beach is located. Drop-dead stunning scenery. If you are going to be there a few days, go to Point Lobos state park (10 Mi.South), Big Sur (40 mi. south) and Hearst Castle (100mi. South, all on Calif. Rt.1.) For hotel, the Monterey Plaza is outstanding but expensive ($250+/night); there is also a Holiday Inn Express on Cannery Row that is okay as well as some others. But stay on the Row if you can; also go to the Aquarium.
But the main thing is to not miss First Awakenings ( those of you in Scottsdale, Sarasota, Naples Fla, Cincinatti or Orlando know the sister restaruant mini-chain First Watch. The guy that owns First Awakenings co-founded First Watch; the buy-out allowed him to keep the menu and recipes but had to change the name).
We're working on putting up an on-line application that will make it a lot easier, but we're not quite there yet.
Here's another way. Download the Word version of the application form and save it to your desktop, then just type into it as if it were a new document. You'll have to a little bit of tabbing and reformatting as you go, but it's do-able. For the boxes, just type an "X" next to the boxes you would check. Then save it and attach it to an e-mail to me or the secretary (or both) and we'll figure it out. If we have any questions, we can always e-mail you.
Then you can send it to "prez300mclub@hotmail.com" and/or "secretary300mclub@hotmail.com" . We've had several people do it this way and it works just fine.
On the clock faces, the trick is to find a a small pointed tool (like an awl) that has a 90 degree bend on the end. You can use that to slip behind the edges of the panels to help you pull them outward. Just do it carefully and slowly so you don't crack or scratch anything. We sure don't want you breaking any nails or dash panels. Scotian has an installation procedure complete with pictures on his Photopoint site. You just have to substitute your hands for his.
I remember from several months back that you had some pics of an embroidered sweat shirt that someone had done for you. We're looking at maybe some embroidered polo shirts for the club, and wondered if you still had the info on that sweat shirt.
Roger - Thanks! I'm not being impatient, I'm just being....impatient!
Dustin - There is a XXL up for auction now.
Exhaust Update - I picked up Big Red at around 1:00 today and decided to play hooky the rest of the day. However, I couldn't resist driving into the dealer that tried to screw with me just to show them how awesome the car looks. I believe we found the perfect set-up. While parked you can't hear the exhaust inside at all. Outside you hear a gentle, low growl. Under power I get a beautiful deep growl in my interior, only a little bit louder than stock. I immediately noticed a difference in the car because i squeeked the front tires under "normal" acceleration. Never did that before. I also noticed about a 3mph gain in highway mpg according to the computer. Where I was seeing 19-21 I was seeing 22-25. I also put a K&N in, so I don't know how much of the gain was the exhaust versus the K&N. I paid $500 for the whole shooting match including the air filter. I took some pictures that I will post later today.
I've never done this, saw it on ZDTV. If you have a scanner, scan in what ever photo you like. Go to some paint program and reverse the image. Get it just the way you like and print it on t-shirt transfer paper, available at Office Depot or any of those. Print it, then iron it on to a new t-shirt and Voila! Just remember to reverse the image or it will transfer backwards.
Here are the pictures of Big Red's surgery. Unfortunately I had to work while it was going on, so the pictures don't show the process. I have doctored the diagram that 300Michael and Roger used to reflect my set-up. Enjoy the pics, and if you have any questions about the set-up let me know.
That's a great-looking exhaust set-up and just what our kind of whimpy feeling y2k deep slate M needs. Now if I could only convince the wife who drives this car daily.......
Do what I do with my wife...lie. No, seriously, I leave all of the things she doesn't care about out of the conversation and highlight the things she thinks are important...practicality, safety, economy. Practicality got me the car (needed room for 3 kids), safety got me the side air bags, and economy is how I justified the dual exhaust (improved gas mileage). Never once did I mention that it "looks and sounds coooool".
that is TIGHT!!! if it weren't so much trouble i would change my tips out, but that's where all the work is. great job, see it pays to find a pro with the know. love that dynomax sound.
OK, I popped the hood today and noticed that the engine is getting dirty. Thought I'd see if anyone has any tips on: 1) cleaning products (I've used Gunk engine cleaner on other cars, but it seems kinda harsh); and 2) cleaning process (do I need to cover anything with plastic?, etc.)
Thanks chief. I think it looks great. I know what you mean when you talk about the "stang whoopin power". I haven't put any kind of measuring device on her, but she "feels" stronger. I also chirped the wheels when I normally wouldn't have. I spent the whole drive home looking for mustangs.
That exaust looks bad!!!!! I am going to try and sell my Borla exaust and do my duals with those tips. Where did you say you bought those? Can you email me supplier and part #'s?
PS Anybody want a slightly used all stainless Borla cat back system cheap!!!? If so email me at.. CMC300M@aol.com
Thanks for the compliments. I'm very happy with how the system looks, sounds and performs. Ed (the muffler dude) kept calling them "Lexus tips" He supplied all the parts. I'll contact him this week and get a supplier and part number. Not sure on the price either because he just quoted me a whole system installed without itemization. One thing to remember is that those tips are singles, unlike the Borla and Monza doubles that come already attached to a Y. He custom made the Ys for the rear to mount them at a stagger. I'm not sure how hard that is to do yourself, or if there is a pipe you can get.
If there is anyone in SoCal that wants the name and contact information for where I got this done just post here or send me an e-mail. I'm sure Ed will answer any questions for you (he's a heck of a nice guy) about the setup.
Very clean and great workmanship. You really did it right! Really appreciate the plans and pics. I might just change my mind about duals, but first I want a first class sub woof setup.
VERY nice installation. Ed obviously knows his stuff. You have no idea how lucky you were to find a shop with a mandrel bender. I looked and looked in my area and found only guy and he wanted all kinds of extra setup charges and had to have my car all day and I couldn't take any pics of the installation. I figured if he couldn't trust me, I couldn't trust him! That's why I went with the pre-bent elbows from JC Whitney.
It'll be cool in Monterey to finally be able to compare the sounds of the various variable variations (nope, that's not a typo!) of this exhaust setup, side by side. Your word description of how your system sounds is exactly the same as how I would describe mine. It'll be very cool to compare them, and hopefully some others as well.
FLASH! All dual exhaust modified 300M owners, please plan to come to the M Monterey Rendezvous in August for a group photo. Wouldn't that be cool?? That will definitely be a photo for the web site.
it's nice being part of a group that can share in my happiness over stuff like this My wife just rolls her eyes.
ajpiii - I think the only thing I could add to my description and diagram is the manufacturer and part number on the tips. I'll try to post this information today. I highly suggest going with the mufflers that I have listed (although others have had good experience with the Rhino too). Both Racefan and I use the same setup, with the exception of him having resonator tips.
Just wondering if anyone from this board is going to go to the US Grand Prix this September? I got my tickets yesterday and can't wait. My wife and I went last year through a package deal with Motor Trend Drivers association and it was awesome. M.T. is no longer offering the trip but the travel company who orgainized the trip has found a new sponser (Team Ford Racing). I am not a big Ford fan at all but since they own Jaguar I can appreciate their involvement in F1. If anyone wants more info on this years package let me know. Besides The main race it is an awesome trip for auto enthusiasts. Last year I got to check out the Benz SLR vision up close.
If you're not fortunate enough to have a knowledgeable and creative muffler dude in your area, you can "do it yourself" like I did. I did the homework and cut the slot in the valance panel, then took my "box of parts" and instructions to my local Midas shop. I'm very happy with the results. Check out my installation at:

He's right... the dog was angry and nearly ripped my arm off when I opened the package! I jumped back just in time!
(just kidding, of course.)

I have to admit, I was in the running, but then thought, okay, this shirt is number one, too big, and number two... a T-SHIRT!!!
Hope the club is looking at embroidered "Beefy T's" and Polo type shirts. I'll put my order in now please!

Enjoy! Silver
Why didn't Chrysler think of doing the factory exhaust that way?
I'm sure they thought about it, but didn't for probably the same reason they stopped the Chrome Shifter mid-2001... it costs an extra $50
sorry... I wore my cynical hat with my sarcastic scarf today.

Please post as much info as possible, I will go to my guy and tell him I want this, and show him your pics & info
On another note, got my overpriced chrome shifter knob yesterday... It was worth it ! Chrysler shouldnt have stopped making these...
