Sorry about your log-in trouble! We've included a note about that on the Club's chat page, to avoid that problem in the future.

    dustinnewton-

You can find out the day your car was built. Just have the dealer put in the VIN number in their computer. The day, date etc. will show up.

I did that when I first got my 300M. On my trip to NYC. It was a VR4. He pulled away, then I caught up, & we were even from there. He could not pull away. This was on a dark I95 at like 2am. Did this a few miles, with the neddle past 120 & then decided it wasn't a good idea to treat my brand new 300M, that had 600 miles on it that way. I grinned as a I passed him like 20 miles later after he was pulled over. Never saw him again. That was my first race with anything. Ever!

No, Brent, I didn't know Chrysler changed to 17" wheels on the PHP halfway thru the 2000 model year.
I always liked the looks of the chrome razorstars better.
What tires did they use...the Michelin MXM V4s?
The only thing I wished they would do is some sort of PHP/PHG badging...for $500 you should get something visible now that all the 300M wheels are the same!
  • scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
    :-)

An actual badge would be nice, as long as it doesn't date the car like the "4 wheel disc brakes" or "ABS" badges do. Might as well say "Steering wheel".

I just received a birthday card from the 300M Enthusiasts Club.

Someone has way too much time on their hands!
  • pjyoungpjyoung Member Posts: 885
The PHP badge wouldn't be bad though (even though I don't have a PHP). I agree with scotian about the overuse of some badges - GM went hog wild with ABS for several years. I've been looking for a Buick with "visor vanity mirror" badging.

How's the ordering going, Roger? I just tried to call Beshi on the 100% cotton question and I guess they start work later than me. I'll try again later.

They're going great. We're just 3 or 4 shirts shy of 50 already, in just 48 hours. I'm still the champ with a 5-shirt order. Anyone want to top that? With a 6-shirt order, I'll give you my dog, and I love my dog!
  • sibesibe Member Posts: 102
If it's Sibe(rian) Husky I'll consider it. Send details of dog 8-)

You know what they say...if it's not a Siberian Husky it's only a dog...
    or
there are two kinds of dogs: siberian huskies and those that wish they were

All DC products show date of mfg on the drivers B pillar. The month/year is shown in the upper right corner (Date of mfr) and the actual month date and hour is shown in the lower left corner after (MDH). You don't have to go to the dealer, you just open the drivers door and read it!
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
No dog discussions on the 300M board. Lets not get like another board I stoped by where the last 100 posts were of this guys dog sled team using an explorer to get around in which led to questions of what kind of dogs, how old they were etc etc etc etc :)
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
Well what do you know, turns out me own dealer has a 300M TB just sitting on the shelf,& it's cheaper then the other website. They want $192 for it with the gasket. I'm picking it up tonight. Now I have to find some shop to bore it out. It's ironic that I happen to be putting on a BBK TB on my Explorer tomorrow it's a 66MM one. :)

exshoman - Glad the goo gone worked. I try that on everything before I break out stuff like lighter fluid or nail polish remover. 90% of the time it does the job. Just FYI, the basslink takes less than 1/2 of the passthrough. It's just about the width of my 40% fold down side. However, if you mount it turned 90 degrees it will take up very little of that space...probably less than 1/4.

Heads up for everyone. I had been using a wet towel and/or Z6 to spot clean my car, thinking that a soft towel and the fluid would work nicely. Tonight under the lights of a gas station I saw just how much scratching I put in the paint doing this. My advice... wash your cars with a hose and a sponge...no shortcuts!

Before I order my shirts, I'd like to know if there are both men's and women's sizes or are they "one (actually 4) size fits all".

I think I know the answer but I'd like to confirm before ordering. Thanks.
  • rogor2krogor2k Member Posts: 385
I lied - Sinbad is a blue merle Sheltie and he's not for sale at any price. He's our little hairy child. I was just trying to sell some shirts.

Intrepidspirit: no separate mens and women's sizes, just the generic unisex sizing you usually find with T-shirts, etc. How many did you need?
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
The "normal sized" women in my office (5'5" and under) seem to be fine in a medium shirt. A couple wear larges that are either very tall or pretty heavy. The shirts run full sized, nothing skimpy.
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
The information above applies because Roger is getting the same shirts that I got for my office. :)
  • denvermdenverm Member Posts: 358
My '00 PHP came with Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 tires on the 17" wheels.
  • intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
Thanks for the club shirt info!

Roger, you sound like a salesman! I'm starting to feel the pressure already...I don't know how many I need yet. My wife and I will look at them over the next 24 hours and order...I'll let you know as soon as we decide!

By the way, they look nice...something like the Land's End shirts we get for our Company...
  • rogor2krogor2k Member Posts: 385
Two M families (M&M's) are gonna need a lot of shirts *grin* BTW, when do we get to see pics of your M "stable"? Bet you're goin' thru a lot of Zaino these days.
  • intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
I guess I should order the 100% cotton so I can use them for zainoing after they get worn out...

I have 4 coats of Z-2 on the 2000 and 3 coats on the 2001. I also had 3 coats on the Intrepid that I turned in...but I think I'm still on my first bottle of Z-2! That stuff goes a long way!

I am still having camera problems but I'll try to post what I've got once I figure out how...I've just never been into cameras!

Hello all - I am new to this and need help!! Unless I am losing my mind (a distinct possibility) I recall reading in a previous posting (many moons ago) in which someone who experienced the transmission "not going into reverse" problem had a mechanic who finally pinpointed the exact part(s) to replace. He then provided that info in a posting. However, I have just spent more than two hours going completely through the original postings I-IV, and unless I simply missed it, am not finding the info I was looking for. Can anyone help? I am taking the car back to the dealer tomorrow and need this info. (I previously had the car with them for this, and was told they were "unable to reproduce the problem".) Thanks to any and all who can assist with this!

well i got my side markers put on as i said earlier with the emblems behind the back doors now, and today i put in the wood kit i ordered. i know everyone has different opinions on them, and mine has changed. originally i was only going to put in six peices because i didnt want to go 'overboard' with it, but once i got to messing with it, i now have all but four pieces on. my wife and i think it looks sooooo slick. i love it. i didnt use the pieces for the clove box handle, or one piece on each front door. mainly because .. well.... u know on your driver door where the window buttons are it has that white pic of a window? it doesnt cover all of that. untill i can get the white off im gonna leave the peice off, and i wanted em to be semetrical on both doors.. ill fix it soon i hope. but ill have pics posted on my web page sunday evening!

I received my Throttl body and did some measurements the back opening is 68mm so no work is needed, the front is 67mm so very little work is needed there too I will try to boar it to 69mm. I will try to install it next (next day off) friday. I will also convert the new booted console to indecate gear selected.
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
how do u do that? get it to light up brighter when u are in that gear.. and have the arrows light up when u up or down shift? anyone care to explain lol
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
I have micro switches that are activated by the shifter shaft. The switches turn on or off LEDS behind the console Leters PRND+- to let me know which gear is activated. In autostick mode both the + and - are lit at half brightness. When I up or down shift the proper + or - goes to full brightness and the other is turnd off.
You can see some of it at my web site (www.300mclub.org)
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
I have to get with you on making reservations for the trip, I should be able to make it for at least two days, possibly 3. Where do you have the hotel information. I will probably be taking my parients and sister (all love that part of the state and shopping in Carmel). I looked for it at the club site, but could not find it. I just hope I can get most of my mods done in time.
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
yeah i saw yours weeks ago, but i still dont know how to actually get in there and do it....
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
I will be doing another one in the following (I have at least 3 major projects, with the M going on) weeks. I will try to have more detail this time. For those that have the boot type shifter, it is a much easer conversion then the fish scale type. I am going to try some new LEDs to make it even brighter. I will keep you informed.

    but I will say "You guys aint seen nothin yet." You shoulda been there on chat night. Avalanche's brain was on high doses of caffeine and he was letting it all out--tellin us all about the future mods. I told him he had to be on drugs to dream up those mods but after seeing the picture above, I guess he is capable of gettin them done! Guess he's got lots of friends in the right places. Where's the 3rd brake light gonna go---you gettin a spoiler wid a light on it? You didnt tell us about that one. I guess you wont be having any trouble finding your car in those mall parking lots. :-}

Avalanche---just make sure you make the trip to Detroit in August. We want you at the head of our M parade down Woodward Avenue with a big neon sign on the roof touting our Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts club.

And you're just 17--just think of the lifetime of mods you can do on all your cars. I think you should go into the custom car business or on the design team at Daimler-Benz.

Just hope you dont need any serious warranty work. The service writer may give you a hard time after seeing all the mods.

Heres the post from way back, not sure if this forum or not, but I saved it to my hard drive.

Thought I had a similar problem in my 2000 R/T, but turned out to be a defective transmission case casting.

    Hope this helps.

If anyone is having tranny problems with their
300M, contact the service manager at Carson
Chrysler in Plainfield, IN (they're on the web).
He's become an expert after working on my car the
past year. I bought in Dec. 98 and now have 35,000
miles on the clock. Car was delivered from the
factory with the famous 'valve body' defect which
manifests itself by failing to shift out of park on
cold starts even though the digital dash indicator
shows it shifting. Trans eventually engages after
a few revs and pressure is built up. Replacing this
part involves complete removal of the trans from
    the car--make sure you've got a good mechanic! I
continued to have shifting problems, especially a
"thunk" on the downshift from 2nd to 1st when
coming to a stop. Dealer replaced the TCM
(transmission control module) and Speed Sensor with
no improvement. Dealer finally nailed it by
replacing the solenoid controlling 2nd gear. Works
great now and I use the Autostick all the time.
Window problems are caused by the rubber seals
being too soft. Notice the smudge marks left along
the leading edge of the glass. You can help prevent
window motor failures by keeping this leading edge
of the glass clean. If you never clean it, it
tends to get tackier and tackier especially in warm
weather putting excess strain on the hardware.

To jsylvester - thank you a million times over! I have just spent another two hours going through archives V-VII, and somehow, I don't know how, missed it. The one you posted is exactly the one I recall having read over a year ago that I want to back me up when I take the car back to the dealer today. What luck for me that you saved that to your hard drive! Thanks again!!

    Hello everyone,

I am in the market for a new 300M.

I was wondering what the changes will be for 2002?
When will they be in show rooms?

I heard rumblings about a Special edition that will have 300 HP---is this true?
    Thanks for any help!!
