Dual exhaust, biggest improvement.
K&N stock replacement, or S&B cone filter.
G-Force tires. (friends)
bord out Throttle Body 68+mm from 62mm.
5w-30w motor oil.
Things I am currently working on
Hood scoop (like Avalanche's) to help force more air into the system.
Changing the intake tubes to all 3" minimum to reduce air restrictions.
My goal is 204hp at the wheels, which should be about 305hp at the engine the 100 hp is parsitic losses. I know this is sad.
Ps I would like to see an M7, that would go for 30K to replace my M.
Ps just kidding fuzzywuzzy.
I have been limiting M to a 89 octane diet.
BTW : First problem today with my M, occured at about 1250 miles. The CD changer will not play disc 2, 3 or 4. Also will not eject any disc. Today is the first time I tried to eject a disc but all were playing OK this weekend.
Taking a 1000 mile trip Thur - Sun, wsh I could change disc's.
Is this common.
Would like to see averages based on geographical location because of the different types of fuels.
There is something wrong with your car Easyrider if you get less than the city average on 60/40 hwy/city driving.
according to them, they just switch the throttle body from the m with a prowlers....hmmm...how did that work for them? i'm gonna go check the price on a prowler tb today at the dealer...
on a pt tho but this is what i wanna do, reverse the colors...more black then other tone
The listing for replacement TB's is the same for 3.5L engines. Can anyone confirm this?
Does anyone know what the factory fuel pressure # is?
Can the pressure be raised by 5 lbs without major plumbing?
2000R/T intrepid, 7500 miles, on problems
AZ is the land of high taxes.
What are others paying for their renewals?
At the beginning of the year the rate of exchange for the US dollar to Mexican peso was 1(US) to 10(Mex). Now it is 1(US) to 8.5(Mex). The peso gained 15%. I follow the exchange rate for I like to vacation in Mexico since I live close to the US/Mex boarder.
I will be taking the familia to Puerto Vallarta for about a week in within the next two months.
In the news today-TX legislature rescinded the hated leased vehicle tax, an average cost of $570 a year for Texans who lease. Hmmm----I use my car for business. Sale/Leaseback anyone?
Regards, Silver
tuscongil: If you really want to make people's eyes water, tell them what you paid for registration when it was new. For my '99, it was in the neighborhood of $650.
fuel mileage: I don't use the car's computer. I have all my fuel data in a spreadsheet. I'm getting 21.4 mpg lifetime, 23.7 over the last 10 fillups.
Igor
The registration on my 2000M is coming due in July...$212 (CA). Registrations use to be higher -- my wife's 2001M registration, when purchased in April this year was $395, but I got a check back from the state last month for $175, for a net cost of $220. It's nice to know something is cheaper in California...

I may be naive, but I trust the car's computer. It seems to do a good job of running the car, including "learning" driving habits. It also does a good job of recording the miles driven (I don't question my odometer), so I expect it does a good job of recording the gas used as well. Since mpg is miles/gas used, I believe the computer's calculation, but I can understand you wanting to confirm your mpg. Do you compare your spreadsheet calculations with the computer? Just curious if there is any noticeable difference...
Fees - I paid over $2,000 in sales tax when I bought Big Red, and each year I pay over $400 in registration fees in good ole' CA
IL is $78 for personalized, $91 for vanity (all-letters) for all passenger cars.
Oregon, last I heard was $20 a year.
Louisana, *I THINK* was down there around $5 or $10 a year.
Washington (state) has high registration fees (based on value of car) but they don't have an Income Tax.
California bases it on value of car, too, but they have high taxes on everything!

Any of the following actions will trigger the [alarm]:
Opening any door
Removing the deck lid (trunk) lock cylinder
Turning the ignition to the ON position (with anything other than a coded key)
also...
A tamper alert exists to notify the driver that the [alarm] has been activated. This alert consists of 3 horn pulses when the vehicle is disarmed. The [alarm] will not arm by pushing down the door lock mechanism. This will manually override the system.
and...
The alarm activates:
Sounding of the horn
Flashing of park and tail lamps
Flashing of headlights
An engine kill feature (fuel shut off) (this feature kills the engine if a key without a transponder (or an improperly coded one) is used to start the ignition).
I thought everyone might find this interesting.
That being said, I must admit that in most of the U.S., they have very innovative ways of separating you from your money through creative charges and taxes...
It's not that I distrust the computer; I just keep all my costs for the car in a spreadsheet. Car payments, registration, service & repairs, fuel. If I was writing this message from home, I could tell you to the penny what I've spent on the car.
The long term fuel mileage the computer displays is based on when you last pushed the reset button, so I wouldn't expect it to match the full history. And now you've got me wondering... just how does it count the gallons used? (Not that I doubt it does a good job.)
All:
Today my car is at the dealer for the 30k service (I have 31500 miles on it). They wanted to charge me $77 for cleaning the throttle body and $48 to "decarbon" the engine. I vaguely recall some discussion here earlier about the TB cleaning but don't recall if it was worthwhile or not. The "decarbon" thing I almost laughed at. For $48, they'll put some fuel additive in my gas tank. IAE, I declined both. (They also wanted to rotate my tires; I told them I didn't want to pay $18 for it when I get it done for free elsewhere.)
Igor
On the free vs $18 tire rotation...yes, it's free, but would the service quality compare with the 5* dealer service? LOL!
Just keep passing them along who knows, we might one day see Recaro seats, HIDs, a real manual tranny, AWD, scoops, dual exhaust etc and AV will have to find another hobby 8-)
Sibe
just saying hello to all.
Mary is still doing well. dirty again,... i'm losing this war...
other than that, just thought i'd stop in so that noone forgets me

Some things have improved from the "good old days"...
I was wondering where you were! A while back you were having a problem with the M. Can't recall exactly what it was, but it was something that deserved a call to Auburn Hills and not "customer service". How did you make out? Just wondering.
