Thanks! I think we should be okay. Aside from having to deal with copious amounts of construction over the miles we travel I (it is inevitable!), we generally go around 90 through Cleveland anyway.

In Oregon now; we will start making our way east tonight.

We're headed to CT for a long weekend at the shore with some friends from the old neighborhood.
CT water is usually cooler than I like but I'll give it a shot.

90! Careful, someone on Facebook just said pistons and rods and oil and tires all get too hot when you drive that fast. And of course, the inevitable, if you run into a brick wall at that speed....

90, the interstate, not 90, the speed.

Had a bit of bad luck on our trip back from CT.
    It's a long story.
Driving through Waterbury CT, a Kia sedan hit my truck in the right rear fender area.
The driver did pull over on an off ramp but it was really narrow and I motioned for him to keep going down and off the ramp.
I was afraid he would get hit by someone driving by.
We pull off on a side street and I see he is pushing his driver side mirror out although it is missing the glass.
I walk around the back of the truck to see where the damage is.
There are some scrapes on the right rear fender behind the rear wheel and it doesn't seem too bad.
He a young guy, early 20's, walks over to look at it then says "What happened?"
You could tell he was shook up about what happened too.
I said 'You left your lane and hit my truck."
He says "I really tired and must have nodded off".
I ask for his license, reg and insurance. He gives me his license, I take a picture, he and goes over to the car for the other info. It's his picture and the license is current.
He fishes around for a while while telling me it's Hertz rental.
Never comes up anything so I say "So you don't have any insurance?"
Repeats that it's a Hertz rental so should have insurance.
Thought about calling the police but realized he could change his story to it was me who hit him.
If they did show up it who be his word against mine.
Since the car status was shaky(stolen?) the car could have gotten impounded and the kid could have gotten arrested.
I didn't want to mess up his life over something like a fender bender, so I told him I'm going to just move on.
We shook hands and went our seperate ways.

    But wait, there's more.
When we got home, 550 miles later, I cleaned up the fender and 90% of it came off with waterless car wash.
Told my wife to come out and look at it and she says "What about the wheel?"
What do you mean about the wheel?
She points out there is some pretty significant damage to it in one area.
She says "His car had some good damage to left front."
News to me, I did not walk around his car.
So, at this point I probably need a new wheel although might be able to get it fixed.
Replacing the wheel and all that goes with it will cost about $600 and I have a $500 deductible, so no point in dealing with insurance over that.

Sounds like that was the way of it to conclude both our trips!

I ended up sending a deer to its maker while on US12 in Idaho. It left a decent reminder on my car, but the damage was not severe enough to impede the rest of our trip. Looks to be about $4,500 according to the local shop. It will probably be a few weeks yet before it gets repaired.

That was about 0200 (2am) on Friday, August 08. We made it to Conneaut on 8/10.... It has just been a bit of a whirlwind since then.

Apparently evolution of deer halted just before headlights were put on cars. Otherwise they would have a sense of what bright lights coming down the road signify. 🤨

Yeah, I have a video of the event. We saw dozens of deer that night.... this was just the one that decided it was his time.

I forgot that time of year is coming, deer season is always a pain in the butt especially around October.
