I'll take that back....if it just came with Drivers Assist and the Premium and nothing else, 44.6K is probably right at invoice. Good job Beth if thats the case. Nice win for you! =)

I got AWD... Just realized that the MSRP has gone up $500 & they're now charging $400 extra for Maple Accent. Luckily I still got the old price. I think the carpeted floor mats are included for free as well??? (or are they always free?)

Got a quote for a JX FWD with driver assis./ theater/ premium pkg. and kick plates, cargo pkg. total MSRP $50,745.

Getting $1,235. from a trade-in towards down payment plus they wanted additional $850. for 1st mth. & tag transfer. Total $2,085 down

    $639. mth.+ tax for 39 mths. 12K miles a year

Is the monthly payment is to high?

Looking to do something by the end of the month

Need to know what is the residual value but if it's around 28k, you're not getting much of a deal at all. That's basically MSRP. You need to get that price down to about 46500 before all the add ons. That will get you to about 540+taxes a month. Btw, 39 month lease? Kinda odd....aren't they usually 36 months? You should be getting 8.5-10% off MSRP .... Dealers are doing deals at that discount range now.
  • disydisy Member Posts: 2
    The residual value is $29,900.

I haven't seen any without additional options, so I need to calculate my payment off the $50K price right?

Was not sure with putting $2100 down (inc. 1st mth & DMV)
if $639.+tax is too high of a monthly payment.

    Thanks for the help

Sorry - Will have to add in one more caveat and that is your credit profile. Obviously, don't post that info here, but i was assuming the highest credit rating for you and that results in a interest rate on the lease just a snick above 3% which is a money factor that is in and around 0.0013.

Not sure what you mean by "Haven't seen any without additional options......". If the MSRP is $50,0000 on the car, you should be looking to negotiate that price down to about $45,500 to $46,000 - 8.5% to 10.0% off MSRP, that's where dealers are dealing these days....some may go even lower, but I can't confirm that. That would be a good base price to work with. Then you need to shop around for the dealer that gives you the best residual value on a comparable vehicle. That will directly affect your lease payment. So if you have good credit, i think that a $50,000 MSRP car can be had for mid $500's per month plus taxes. Your $640 + taxes appears to high if you have good credit.

    Hope this helps!

This is the offer I received today from Sawgrass Infiniti in South Florida:

    2013 JX35 with a premium package.

$44,500 +++ (tax, tag, and fees).

    Tag estimation $495

    Doc fees $695

Tax at 6% if Broward county $2,712.09

Total out the door price $48,408.59

    Good deal?
  • tanner10tanner10 Member Posts: 6
Is it FWD and premium package, nothing else? Read my post above. if you're not in the 8.5-10% off MSRP or just around invoice, then you need to keep negotiating until you get them down there.

I took the advice of some of you here, and I've kept haggling on the price for the Premium package in Miami - S. FL. I have gotten the price down some, but not a whole lot. How is this compared to what some of you are getting:

    Window Sticker price is: $47,225
Invoice is: $43,679 and cost $43,920 with the added wheel locks, and nitro fill not requested by me, comes as part of the car in stock)

My cost would be $43,920 for the vehicle and the factory money factor.
Lease price would be 39 months, 12k miles per year,
With $1500 + dmv it would be $519+tax per month ($555 with tax)

So $43,920 to buy, or $519 a month with $1500 down for inception and dealer fees.
Better deals still out there? :confuse:

FYI...If you take in a third party invoice, the prices between their invoice and yours will vary by about $500-600. ICAP is another fee, roughly $300 you will see on "their" invoice.

I think u can get a few hundo more especially now that they are investigating the jx 35 for a fault in the emergency brake system (google it investigation jx35)

Are you haggling with the same dealership? You need to line up a couple quotes and get them to bid against each other. You can't work one person down enough negotiating with them exclusively. Also, They won't let a deal walk for a couple hundo especially when they are still at or around their advertised "invoice". You're likely not going to get another grand more as you've worked it now for a while unless youre willing to start bringing in a couple more parties and string this process out a bit. You gotta ask yourself how much more time and effort is that extra 4 or 5 hundred worth in terms of your time invested in this process.

Thanks for the heads up on the IX35 emergency brake problem. Although it does give me some pause about the purchase now. I don't want a headache on my hands. I currently drive a 2005 Lexus RX 330 that has given me zero problems. I've only had to perform basic maintenance on the car the entire time. Is Infiniti less reliable?

I branched out to multiple dealerships a few days ago. But I noticed that they all (I do mean all), went conspicuously silent yesterday. I wonder if it was because it was the first of the month. Infiniti dropped their lease price on their website to $499 for 39 months with $3400 down. That was better than I was getting from any of the dealerships. When I emailed them to see if they would be modifying the quote they gave me, not one answered! And no I didn't email them all in one email. ;) But right now, between the drop in price on the Infiniti web site, and the brake issue, if I still go with Infiniti, I will be pushing for $470 - $479 a month with $1500 down. Let's see if I get it. Something tells me it won't be until the end of the month though.

    $5000 down
    $538/ mth

    Hello,
Did anybody try to find base AWD JX without premium package. I searched within 600 mile range of metro Detroit area and could not find one. Its almost like you can have any JX you want as long as its fully loaded one
  • siddharth2008siddharth2008 Member Posts: 6
Yes. It is ridiculous. Jx is not available in many options. If you get the option, then there is a good chance you may not get the color. Dealers seem to not be in a mood to negotiate. I have been following dealer inventory in DC area which are not pretty stagnant but they are not willing to give any discount.

Dust will settle once Pathfinder comes to market. The hype will come down.
  • siddharth2008siddharth2008 Member Posts: 6
Has anyone purchased a JX in DC Metro area? Can you share your experience and price paid?

    Thanks.

I know where you can get a base model, Black Obsidian with Wheat interior and no options for $42K MSRP and they would work from the Invoice price and go up.
  • siddharth2008siddharth2008 Member Posts: 6
Sure. Can you let me know?
  • mich2006mich2006 Member Posts: 20
Thank you, let me know. I asked a couple of dealers in metro detroit area and they could not find one within 600 mile range. Plus nobody is willing to deal either. I honestly feel that Infiniti is trying to sell only loaded models on purpose
  • littlejoe613littlejoe613 Member Posts: 53
It sure seems funny that it only happened to 2 people and both braking issues happened in the same city on the same bridge and no where else in the country. This doesnt sound right to me. Something is up here. If it only happened to 2 people.....hmmmm I wonder if they know each other....

siddharth2008, I am in FL looking for JX35. If you are interested in purchasing from JAX, let me know and maybe we can negotiate together.

Got quote on FWD with Premium, Drivers Assistance, Theater, Cargo, wheel locks, nitrous etc. for $50,700 OTD with transferred tag. Thoughts on this? Is it better to wait a few months for hype to go down?
  • elligwelligw Member Posts: 4

That's what I paid a couple weeks ago with nearly the same options minus the cargo and wheel locks but added the maple accents and kick plates.
If you download the offer spreadsheet template from here http://www.carbuyingtips.com/buyingnewcar.htm and plug in all the numbers, I figured it gave them a 2% profit or $1000-1500.

In DC area only AWD's are available. Dealers will easily give you 3500 OFF msrp. I am not planning to buy right now till I see the pathfinder. I will still buy infinity though but I want to see the impact of pathfinder launch on infinities.
  • renee608renee608 Member Posts: 6
I have been waiting for the pathfinder to arrive so that i can compare the JX with it. What do you think the price difference between the JX and Infiniti will be. How similiar do you think they will be?
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Wow - we would not have been that low - not that desperate. When you don't have an awesome service department and reputation we do - you have to discount and attract buyers with price.

Little secret, they make up the difference in trade-in prices and financing, etc. All dealers make money or they go out of business - we just do everything out in the open. :)
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Not eliminated...they had a shortage in parts on a wiring harness but they still make the base model.

    Sales are awesome!
  • azshortyazshorty Member Posts: 27
Wow. So you're telling me you openly screw your customers? Not to defend my dealership but they did give me the best money factor possible. This was of course after they tried to raise it but that's no big deal to an informed customer who knows exactly what they qualify for. As far as trade in, they gave me the best price for my car out of about ten dealerships so I'm satisfied with that. I will certainly remember your words when my lease is up.
  • tiger120tiger120 Member Posts: 7
That's good to hear. Does the base model have backup camera? or only included in driver assistance package.

I finally decided to buy the JX35 base. I got it for $39000 + TT. I am happy with the purchase. It does have the backup camera.
  • tiger120tiger120 Member Posts: 7
This sounds like a good deal, right at the invoice price.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
All businesses make money, we are not "screwing" anyone. Do you think that Master Card lets you borrow money for the same price they borrow money for? Does McDonalds sell you a Coke for their true cost?

Just because you are informed and know what we pay for our products does not mean we must sell them to you for that same price. It cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to operate a dealership each month, we must sell products of cost to pay for the overhead...we have to sell a bunch if we want to actually turn a profit - which is the goal.

I'm not going to insult anyone on this forum by pretending we are not in business to make a profit....if a dealer is telling you he will sell you something for below cost and the buy rate...those are the ones you better have your radar up for - watch the trade, watch the "fees", etc.

PS We will give the buy rate on a lease IF the rest of the deal makes sense to do. Our overall goal is to make customers happy and be in business down the line when they need us. That does not always happen - ask our old Hummer, Saab, Pontiac customers.... :(

Hi Beth, if it has AWD, that's a fantastic deal! What dealer did you purchase the car from? Thanks!
  • m3armandm3armand Member Posts: 10
Just to validate, VPP for the JX is invoice price, correct? But what about all the other prices the dealer likes to tack on? I.e. - doc fees, etc.? Of course, I don't mind the plate fees or any other fees that I would pay otherwise when running to the dept of motor vehicles. But $800 or so in "doc prep" fees would be on the gouging side...
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
VPP C & D plan (which majority of folks are) is invoice.

Any add-ons like accessories are extra.

TTL is required by your state.

Doc fees should run around $200 or less, anything over that and the dealer is just making a profit and calling it a doc fee - that is one reason you should compare "out the door" price and not just sale price. :)
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Infiniti has announced IF you finance w/ IFS they will give the dealer an extra $1000 that they can pass along to you. It's a start! :)
  • ausscotausscot Member Posts: 1
    Hi Sewellgsm,

Does that include the packages? Got a 'rough' VPP number from a dealer for an AWD with premium, deluxe touring, tech and theater packages that was >1k over invoice.
  • banes1banes1 Member Posts: 3
How does the dealers verify VPP? Can you tell them you work for one of the companies that has VPP and will they take you word for it? Someone I know did this and the dealer did not ask for any proof at that time but called the next day asking for an id or business card. He never responded.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 261,790
You have to get the code from your HR department.. then, register on-line..

That will take you to a screen to print-out.. my dealer was adamant about having that..

Banes1 - just joined the forum and saw your post that you gotthe base for $39K +TTL.

Do you mind my asking where you are located? I'm in Scottsdale, AZ looking to buy a base this month and figure I'll probably have to head out of state as all the cars I've purchased over the past 10 years have been much cheaper out of state.

    Thanks.

Can you let me know the dealer details?
  • banes1banes1 Member Posts: 3
I am in PA but I don't think there are anymore base models available within 500 miles of PA. I also read in another JX forum that Infiniti is not making anymore JX35 base.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
We also verify employment with business card, check stub, company ID, etc.
If the dealer doesn't get the proper proof - they won't get reinbursed from Infiniti, so they just "gave a car away"....
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Yes, VPP is the invoice of the vehicle. More options there are the bigger discount you are getting....if priced over invoice then not getting VPP. In the end, the dealer puts the VIN into the computer system which calculates the VPP price for the customer - makes it look official for the customer.

Sewelllgsm, when your dealership takes a security deposit for a car to be ordered, what paperwork do you typically provide the customer? An order sheet of some sort? When can a VIN# be supplied to match the car that was ordered? I didn't receive much documentation and my worry is that they would make a mistake on the order entry point, have a car built that is missing some key things that I would want to be "on the sticker" and then we'd have a customer satisfaction issue where I would not be able to "check the best scores" on the Infiniti survey = loss/loss on both ends.

I'm trying to be pro-active in wanting a build sheet obtained so that I know they ordered the correct car. Is that unreasonable? As it is, they are upfront about stating that it may take 12 weeks for the JX to come in (tech, deluxe touring, premium, theater, tow hitch, cargo package, roof rails, crossbars). I'm ok with that so long as the car ordered is exactly what I want. But if takes 12 weeks and then they come up with the wrong car, all hell is breaking loose...

Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.
  • azjonazjon Member Posts: 4
    Hi m3armand -

Looks like we are in the same situation. I placed a deposit for a JX order this weekend &was told it could take 12 weeks.

I have not received any documentation or build sheet - - all I have are my emails back & forth with the salesperson & a confirmation of the deposit charged to my credit card. The salesman told me the dealer was allowed 5 orders per month and that they place orders on the first day of the month - such that my order wouldn't be placed until 10/1 (of course, this was told to me as they attempted to sell me a model that was in stock vs. what I wanted ordered so this may not be true). Were you told something similar?

Like you, I'm a little concerned as this is the first time I've ordered a car from the dealer.
  • m3armandm3armand Member Posts: 10
This is probably the 11th car that I've ordered. And this is the first time that I don't have an "official looking" document. I took a "leap of faith" given the Infiniti reputation. Previous cars I've ordered were of the BMW, Porsche, MB, Audi, Cadillac, and Toyota (most painful). So I hope Infiniti doesn't give me a bad taste for Japanese cars...
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Sorry for the late response...I did not see this post.

We generally provide the customer with the Order #, all our vehicles - ones currently in stock and one on the way from Japan are listed on our website with a stock # or an order #. Then the customer can see the vehicle and all the equipment. We also will fax or hand them the order sheet so they can double check equipment and color - you can make changes up to a certain point. We also update the customer every two weeks or so on the progress of the vehicle (where it is, when to expect it, etc.)

Your request are beyond reasonable, if the dealer won't give you information - something may be wrong? Like maybe it is not actually ordered yet... :surprise:
