Meet the Edmunds Moderators!
For years we've called ourselves Hosts as we do much more than simply moderate, but since this platform uses the term Moderator we will go with that to avoid confusion. If you have a question or need assistance and prefer not to post publicly, you can message the moderator of your choice. Simply click on the screen name. That will open the Moderator's profile. Then click on "Message", located at the top right of the profile.
Now on to intros!

I started as an Edmunds Forums host in 1997 and now have the title of Community Manager. It's been a fantastic ride thru the years in the Forums! Sometimes a bit bumpy, but how boring would it be if it were always Mary Poppins and Pollyanna?
As for me personally...no, I'm not going to tell you my age....okay, I'm old. I've been married to the same guy for a few decades. We have two children. I drive a 2011 Subaru Forester. My previous vehicle was a 2000 Honda CRV that I reluctantly sold to my daughter. She is still driving it and it runs like a champ. sigh I still miss it. My husband bought a 2012 Chevy Silverado last year. His previous ride was also a Silverado that he babied for 12 years and over 200K. As you can see, we don't let go of our vehicles easily.
Can't think of anything else too interesting to tell. Oh wait, our other two kids! We call them "the girls". One is a 5-year-old black Lab and the other is 1-year-old unknown breed. Not even the vet can determine what her heritage may be. They keep us active and amused. If they don't get a daily brisk walk, there is no living with them.
Hope you enjoy your time here and if you need assistance, don't hesitate to ask!
I started here sometime in 2001, on the long-defunct Future Vehicles board. I'm now a Community Specialist, so feel free to ask me specialized questions about the community. I take all types of insurance.
I live in Missouri where my significant other and I collectively have 6 children, all but two of whom are in college or have graduated. Once the youngest gets underway, we hope to wave goodbye to snow and ice forever.
We have a mixed-breed dog, who appears to be a combo of chocolate lab & pit bull. We refer to her breed as "all brown, all the time." I am also certified 92% coordination-free, but I still do all my own stunts.
I'm here if you need me!

Welcome to our new digs! I started as an Edmunds forums host in 2001 and have lived through more than a couple of these changes, so if you're feeling a little disoriented, feel free to ask me (or any of our Moderators) about how our new home works.
I currently own two Nissan Versa hatchbacks (yea, we like them) and one of my daughters still drives our 2007 Versa. The other daughter is a basketball star at Juniata College. Like Karen, I also have a black lab (must be the official forum moderator dog) and "active" is an understatement!
As with all the changes we've gone through here, there will be some bumps, but my shocks are ready!
Call me PF, or Bob, or Sneakers... whatever works for you!
Driving places (cheaply) led my wife and me to Edmunds in late 1998 to research replacing our '89 Plymouth Voyager. We wound up with a '99 Nissan Quest, sold the '82 Toyota Tercel and our house in Anchorage and drove around the US and Canada to celebrate the Millennium (remember that?) for a year.
Some 32,000 miles later, camping the whole way, we landed in Boise, and I joined Edmunds as a Community Leader for Vans. We picked up a used '97 Subaru Outback creampuff for the ski trips. After a decade in Idaho, we moved to the UP of Michigan to be close to Lake Superior and my wife's family.
We still love road trips, just got a new tent, and hope to get 200,000 miles on the Quest early next year. The poor old Subie is barely over 93k and is mostly ignored until the snow falls.
Edmunds' mods don't have all the car answers but we're happy to help you find them (or a good diner in Silver City NM). Just ask!
I joined the Edmunds Forums team a few months after it launched, more than a decade ago, and I've enjoyed watching this fascinating online community evolve. Before that, I worked with "The Well", a pioneering internet forum started by the Whole Earth Catalog folks, and one of the oldest virtual communities still in existence.
My automotive background goes way back. My dad worked for the Packard Motor Car Company, and later for Studebaker, Lincoln-Mercury, Jaguar and Renault. Right after I got my first Christmas toy, I'm sure I was handed a wrench.
I've collected and occasionally restored cars, truck and motorcycles all my life, mostly one or two at a time. I grew up when "old cars" were affordable, and "new cars" were as distinct from one another as breeds of dogs. But times changed, and so did I, and I am as exciting about some of the new machines being built today as I was about the old ones back when.
I enjoy participating in lively discussions with our members, trying to help them find answers to automotive questions of every kind, and guiding them around the forums. You'll find me mostly in the Repair and Maintenance topics, the Classics Board, Autmotive News and of course, the separate Answers Department, where you can ask me and our amazing band of volunteer "experts" any automotive question you like. We'll do our best to dig out the information you need.
I started with the forums in February 1999 in Smart Shopper. Over the nearly 15 years, I've handled a number of the categories - now watching Pickups, Wagons, and Vans. It's been nothing short of interesting, both learning and educating others... you never quite know when something might pop up that will save you or someone else a ton of money/time/effort.
Having owned pickups for well over 20 years, they're the vehicles I know best, but I've driven everything from subcompacts to full sized vans over my 30+ years with a license. Dad was a truck driver, bus driver, then a police officer - so I was taught how to drive by a true road pro. Things he taught me as a teen still stick in my head today.
Glad you're here with us!
I'm the new kid on the block - having only been a host / moderator since September 2013.
However, I've been a participant on these forums since the very beginning in the mid-to-late 90's. Have made some lasting friendships along the way, and, with a job that allowed me to travel, I was able to meet some of these great folks in person.
I now work from home and play daddy to three miniature dachshunds - Lily, Guster and Daisy. I also have a part time job delivering pizzas, for some social contact.
While I'm a moderator in the "Prices Paid" forum, I'm a frequent contributor in both "Automotive News" and "Smart Shopper".
My current fleet are all the same color and body style - silver hatchbacks. The wife drives a 2010 Mazda CX-7, my stepdaughter a 2010 MINI Cooper and I just leased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT a month ago. Extra small, small and large, I suppose.

Hi, I'm Claire! Been here since 2005, and have a talent for purchasing cars that are destined to become objects of derision (think Maverick, Vega, Catera, Jetta). I live in the Chicago area, have 4 kids who are all out of the house, and was once married to a man who routinely went out for a gallon of milk, only to return with a new car (he's out of the house now too). I don't have all the answers here, but I tend to know where to find them, so just ask!
