Now saving the day for his Mom....
Good job, Ryan. Only think that could use some work is his fishing. Fish don't care if it's raining...LOL
Happy Mother's day to all you Mothers!
Tom
Rain stopped but we are still taking on water
What a weekend.
I would say that this should be a strong deterrent to anyone wishing to buy a new Silverado. If only GM knew how to build a "full size" truck.
A Tundra owner obviously upset because they bought an underperforming, small, wanna be 1/2 ton Tundra, adding nothing to this discussion.
I understand his disappointment. I almost bought one until I realized the bed was pint sized, the towing rating was minimal, the back seat was a joke, the rear brakes were drums, no snow plows available, no optional V8 engine (4.7 or V6, take it or leave it), could not get factory tow package (1st year), no LSD (1st year), and on and on. Just no work in them now.....but they sure do SHINE!
Good luck on this one, now!
Tom
I know you are angry over buying a GM knocker, but I don't think that Tundras fit in this topic. You might want to check the title of the topic again!
Good Luck on this one now!
- Tim
Did you know it was basically the same vehicle as the other?
Why did you choose it over the other?

BamaTUNDRA. LOL
FYI, I am VERY satisfied with my 2001 GMC. Best truck on the road, IMO! Lots of options that I could CHOOSE or not CHOOSE, unlike some manufacturers. Plenty of engine choices with plenty of power. Manual or Auto. 4 wheel disc W/ABS, full sized bed, ROOMY extended cab, runs great, handles great. Thanks for asking.
Tom
I don't think that I can change my logon name depending on what topic I post to. I will ask the moderator about this.
(No wonder everybody left)

26K miles and loving each one. Does everything i need it to do.

...but the Tundra sure does!! In fact, it's the only Toymota vehicle that does. What happened? Toyota used to know how to build quality vehicles!! Is it true Toymota is introducing a new yellow paint scheme for the Tundra? Should be a big seller!
Maybe...I dunno. But then again my simple hillbilly brain seldom comprehends your enlightened logic. Where ever the GM 1500 is listed at-it's lower on the list than than your Tundra, isn't it? Aren't you admitting that the Tundra has had more compliants per unit sold than the Chevy per units sold?
Let's see if I'm getting this straight, Bama. The Tundra sells a fraction as many trucks as GM's 1500s. The little Tundra is outperformed by GM's 1500s in just about every aspect by which 1/2 ton pickups are measued. And the Tundra appears as number 23/25 on a NHTSA lemon list-the only fullsize pickup that does!
Yeah Bama...I'm beginning to see the light! LOL! What's not to love?? Chill out and have some lemonade-you sure paid enough for it!
Here is a pop quiz for you - If the Lemonado sells five times as many trucks, but has five times as many problems per truck as the Tundra - Which is the better truck?
Be careful - this is a trick question for GM zealots!
#complaints/#Tundras sold=Lemonundras
#complaints/#GMs sold=GMs not on top 25 lemon list
That's why they factored in sales and not just complaints. The Tundra had more complaints per truck sold (not produced as you claim) than any other fullsize pickup.
Stop it already-you nearly made me choke on my TV dinner with these last few futile posts!!
"cuz them yuppy's be thinkin' them be full sized......truth is.....Tundra = less truck for more buck"
Good luck on this one now!
- Rube Tim
Is this too painful for you? This is a simple question.
If you need to post insulting nicknames for the other guys truck to make your point, you need to find another way to make your point or take it someplace else.
Notes making reference to Lemonado, Tindra, Shakerado, etc... are not approriate.
Disagree all you want about the trucks, but keep it civil.
I, for one am disappointed with your performance as moderator. You do not distinguish between posts made in lively disagreement within a topic and posts made solely (and obviously, to most of us) to cause turmoil.
One person has posted 7 of the last 22 posts in THIS topic and you say NOTHING? To me, it seems your bias is obvious.
Instead of closing useful and interesting topics, why not address the problem?
Tom
editing....
PS. You posted your comments in post 6373 while I was typing. Glad you spotted the problem, but be consistent.
Thankyou for closing down the "Tundra Problems" topic. It became a playground fot GM owners. Any Tundra owner reading the topic would get no useful information.
I applaud your long overdue efforts to enforce the Edmund's rules of conduct. Good Job!
If Bama is still here I would like to ask him a SERIOUS question...I am not going to get into a pissing match with you, I realize that you (as well as everybody) is entitled to their opinion and who the hell am I to try to change it? Ok so here is the question....
Why do you think the Silverado outsells the Tundra by such a wide margin?
No, I don't know the sales figures off the top of my head and I'm not going to portray myself as a know it all chevy freak. I own a Silverado and I love it. I would never consider buying a CURRENT Tundra. I say CURRENT because before 1997 or so I would have never considered buying a FORD but I would now. I almost did when I bought my Silverado it was stricktly a financial decision to go with the Silverado but now I am glad I went that way.
Ok, let's see if we can have an adult conversation about this...
-Mark
Thanks.
Sometimes at the end of the day you'll have to agree to disagree and move on.

Time to move on, as PF states, unless he wants to see inmates running the asylum yet again.
it's been said before..and I'll say it again......damn we need a live get together around a keg and a fire and settle this crap once and for all......all the talks....all the "put up or shut up" with the trucks themselves..........
but it will never happen...........
- Tim
Now - what has GM done recently to fix their knocking engines? Do they still claim that a brand new knocking engine is "normal"?
Does this mean that anyone buying a new GM truck can expect their engine to knock and GM will claim it is "normal"?
cowboyjohn
Very logical solution. But these days no one does anything the easy way.
Also ill buy the keg (maybe 2)
Better make it three-I'll bring lots of friends!!
I am not posting about how great my Tundra is. I am not posting about Tundras at all. What is the deal?
I could care less if you hung out here. If i bought the 2 kegs i would gladly give you a cup.
I can't notice any difference in acceleration and there is less engine noise. Guess I'm weird since I like my truck quiet! The extra mileage from the K&N was almost nil. This weekend I'm goint to do some towing so I'll be anxious to see if I can notice any difference there.
What does the Tundra towing capability have to do with this topic?
I know that the knocking Chevies (that GM refuses to repair) is a painful topic, but can we stick to the topic? Thanks.
kip
Sorry but I can't talk about knocking engines since mine does not knock. Nor does the engines of three other 99+ GM 1500s and one 2500 6.0L owned by friends/family. When mine knocks I'll let you know Bama. The only knocking I do hear are Tundra owning neighbors at my door who like to borrow my Chevy when they need a fullsize pickup to use.
-Mark
You admit that you are still attending preschool? And with your son???
I know that Chev keeps raising them younger and younger!
Hillhound: When Chev is able to build a quality, reliable 1/2 ton pickup, I will consider them. Right now, I consider the Silverado 1/2 ton to be a cruel joke!
But remember = We are not talking about Tundras! If you compare the GM to other domestic pickups - it only comes out third behind Ford and Dodge.

.......any more..come to my site or the truck bash...

Anyway here goes, I am in the market for a used full size chevy/GMC. I am looking at around a 94-95 ext-cab. I would prefer 4wd but it is not necessary, and 1/2 or 3/4 ton would be acceptable.
I was just wondering if there is anything specific I should watch out for in these years, and check out when test driving. Thanks.
Also, some advice from a parent, if you ignore a child that is crying just to get attention eventually they will stop crying. I hope you all get my meaning.
