Ryan, shoulda taken the wheels off the truck and done the inside too...hehe

    Looks good though, guy...

Middle daughter school cheerleaders had car wash fund raiser today...something about a dozen bikini clad teenagers climing all over your truck washing it....girls made $1000 in donations for their day's work. Ah yes I washed my truck today. Nice thing is hearing daughter telling her friends to "watch out" and "if you scratch my dad's truck, I scratch your eye's out". Kids! Now do I start to wonder if there is a problem with some hidden motives here? Life was so much easier back when VW microbuses had "Peace signs"...heh heh.

    have a good weekend folks

Guys thanks for the feedback on the spray bedliners. Im still not sure which route I will go. I would like to find someone in my area who has the spray one and check it out...

Ryan. What kind of bedliner do you have? Do you have the under or over the rail type. I cant totally tell from your pics. Also did you have any problems finding a specific brand with the whale tale?

P.S. What is Z5 and Z2? Cleaner for alum wheels???

  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
    Jim Z2 and Z5 is a wax

    http://www.zainobros.com

great stuff i spent from 9am till 9pm (now) washing and waxing my truck with breaks waiting for it to dry

RED i got my truck in the garage. My mailman told me today to jackup the rear and slide it in like racecars (how they move em around) he was joking but it got me thinking. So i pulled out my tape measure. 18 ft long and 16 feet wide. Did pythagorean theorem which equals about 24 ft (hypotenuse) So i started moving air compressors took of my dads vice off his toolbench that stuck out. I pulled it in at an angle a few times. I was like 7 inches sticking out. I kept trying moving over. Got the grill guard to go inbetween his workbench and it fit. With 1" to spare. WOOHOO

Is it alright to leave the wax on overnight in the garage? Thats what i plan on doing.

Red i have a rhino liner. The whale tail doesnt have any effect on the bedliner so you can get whatever you want.

I took some pics of the truck in the garage ill post em soon

    haha picture day

started out here being the only kind...then line-x was in a few places....now about equal...

For a spray in...get over the rail..as it doesn't move and wear the paint on the rails..(the spot most abused if it does move)..and under the rail for a drop in...(for the reason mentioned)

I had an over the rail drop in in last truck.....bed didn't get rubbed too bad for 11 years of being in there...but rails were trashed....it was a stepside and didn't rust though...(fiberglass bed....but I thought rails were still metal?)....oh well....gone now

Good Luck on This One Now!

make sure you save all your calculations, otherwise you'll have to do it again when you decide to park the truck in the garage. let us know when you're ready to put your dad's vice back so we can help you with that....LOL
    look's great buddy.....
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240

to do the door jambs, and most important, the back wall of the cab. most of us unbolt the bed and move it back a foot or so to get to it.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
oh red i already took the bed off. Its on horses in my driveway. I am actually zainoing the bottom of the bed also

    Ryan
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
just remember to position the bed with the tailgate towards the back of the truck. LOL

got up to watch the Indy 500, but forgot that it was on ABC, which means a gazillion commercials, so it'll be video taped and i'll watch it later so i can zip through all the useless station breaks they get paid for. wish it was on ESPN.
    i'm pullin for Sarah though.......
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240

  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
this is crazy 5 cars out in less than 20 laps

Yep im going for the red CC to win it all haha so far they have more miles racked up than these cars do. Their tires are also alot warmer i am sure.

They keep crying about the tires correct? ANyone watching? Many of these guys have firestone as their sponser. HMMMM think that could be a reason. Indy 500 ruined due to firestone tires

no way man the menards guy is kicking butt for now.

I actually got to meet him about a yr and a half ago. Seen his car and semi. The semi is breath taking. Huge silver/white. Before you go in you have to wash your hands and wipe your feet off. Tools are spotless clean. Computers upon computers everywhere.

    they are almost to 50

    Quad, Ryan, and everyone else,

The seat covers I have, I ordered thru a retailer. I don't know exactly who the company is that made the seat covers. On the receipt it states "Ramshead Seat Covers", so I'm assuming that this is the company. I will check into it and post the company and contact info.

I have an LT, so I have the leather buckets. These seat covers are custom made to fit these seats exactly, and they do. They fit nice and tight, and have the same seams sewn into them as the original seats. They look like they could have come from the factory. I purchased the front seat covers and the arm rest covers, I didn't buy the headrest covers because I did not feel they warranted the extra expense. As it stands the total cost was $334.80. I believe that this is worth the money. I picked the fabric that they are made from. They are made with very high quality fabric and materials. Installation was fairly straightforward, although a little tough at times because thay are made to fit. The arm rests were the MFer's. So far I'm very happy with them, although the fabric has a fairly clingy quality to them. This can be good, because they hold my big [non-permissible content removed] to the seats better when I'm racing around turns. Another aspect to the seats is that they make a rather interesting farting sound when you sit in them. The fiance doesn't even bat an eye....she knows me too well.:)

I'm saving up to get some made for the rear seat as well, that's going to be about $275 plus the damned CA sales tax.

    Valky

    BTW. Long LIve Dale Earnhardt!

I just checked on that cab to frame bolt you mentioned to try to solve my creaking noises but with no luck. I had no sound coming from the bolt upon trying to tighten it.

Does anyone else with an 01 Silverado have a creaking noise inside the cab (specifically behind the driver) when driving under normal conditions? It does not seem to make it when going over bigger bumps??? Cant seem to pinpoint where its coming from... Ideas anyone???

Anyone have any experiences or any comments about the difference with plowing with a Chevy 1500 or a 2500 other than the trans. cooler offered on a 2500. Planning on buying an '01 or an '02 1500 or 2500 and will be using it for plowing and some towing. Have boat on dock so it's mostly for plowing and my chevy s-10 handles the 5000lb towing.

    Thanks
  • jaguar0027jaguar0027 Member Posts: 387
if you plan on plowing. I would look at the 2500. Im not saying you cant plow with a 1500, but if you are going to be doing some heavy duty stuff, go with the 2500. Its made for stuff like that. My 2 cents anyway.

putting flowmasters on your Rado's? Pros and cons pls. Also anyone here done that???

    Jim
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
ext cab 1500's i believe if you add a plow voids certain aspects of your warrenty.

Unless you get a 1500 that specifically comes from the factory with the pkg. Ext cabs do not only reg cabs do

  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
Check the hinges that the rear seats latch onto. There are two of them, one on each side; behind the seats, there should be an insulator on the bracket. If there isn't, you've found your squeak. Doesn't take large bumps for the rears to squeak without the insulators.

Flowmasters....there's better out there. Course it'll cost more too.

I have been thru this with plowing. Here's the
deal.....Gm 1/2 ton reg cab can be had with
snow plow prep pack VYU or 3/4 ton with VYU
reg or extended cab. Plowing a GM 1/2 ton x-cab
Mr. GM will not warranty if you break it.
The reason GVW (gross vehicle weight ).....
GM assumes you will plow with 6 passengers and with the weight of passengers and plow you will
exceed GVW on 1/2 ton x-cabs (6400 lbs.)
I assume this has something to do with liabilty
so GM must cover their butts. But in my neck
of the woods (N Y) i have seen some X-cabs with
    plows....even s-10s too...Good luck.....Geo

Made a complaint with the NHTSA about my
front wheel assembly falling off my 01 Chevy. Reading thru NHTSA complaints i see one other
complaint on 5/28. Cannot contact the NHTSA
untill tues. to see the full complaint. Maybe
this truck came from the Indiana plant too.
Have a look under your new truck if made there
    Better safe than sorry..........Geo

after 4 coats of zaino to the front (Z5 three and Z2 1) and 3 coats to the rear my truck looks awesome

Almost better than the day i bought it only bad thing is if you take a light close to it you can see alot of small thin scratches. Oh well. Few chips also 2 in the hood and 2 on the front fender. Pinhead sized no biggie. Bottom fascia has taken a beating. Lots of dings in the plastic scraps and black marks. Time for a piaa front air dam? Grill guard also saved the grill from some rocks. I can see some dents in it.

Well time to go get it dirty again.

Have a fun memeorial day everyone

I was interested in the note about the noises coming from the rear of the cab. I had a 1981 GMC truck that had a cab noise. It was a noise that did not occur all the time. It happened when a large heave in the road caused the truck to flex. I told the dealer about it but you can guess how it was fixed. I finally got so annoyed with it that I crawled under the truck and looked at the bolts holding the cab to the frame. It had a big rubber puck with two large washers on either side. I loosened the bolts holding the cab and I discovered that one of the bolts and rubber isolators had been out of alignment. I jacked up the cab and put things back together like it was supposed to be. The cab creaking noise was eliminated. I could not believe that something so obvious was not seen by the mechanic. Not only that, but when one pays good money for a truck (new) and then has to fix a major annoyance one begins to wonder! Good luck with your cab noise.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
I get a noise in the rear of the cab when hitting bumps with the rear seat up.....like a rattle of the rear trim panel?

    - Tim

...the fix...just have the seat down!

Has anyone heard if Chev is going to follow suit with the Ford Co. And replace all the Firestone tires ? I have them on my 2000 Silverado , and they are very noisy , had the dealer check them out , the tech said they are all noisy , and that he hates them , only have 7500 miles on them .
