This seems to be a common problem with Chrysler vehicles whether they're Jeeps or 300M's. Can't really say if it's the tires or the design. If I were you, I'd call the manufacturer IMMEDIATELY since they are guaranteed by the TIRE manufacturer and NOT Chrysler.
I HAD this problem with my 99 300M from DAY ONE! 10 1/2 months later I resolved the problem MYSELF with Goodyear BECAUSE I e-mailed them the 3rd day I had the car. All I was getting from Chrysler was EXCUSES like above- crown in the road, they all do that, characteristic of the car etc.!! BULL!
My Goodyear tires were defective. At 11,000 miles I got NEW ones from Goodyear for ZERO $$. Other Chrysler customers were not so lucky or just accepted the old crown in the road "theory"! My car went STRAIGHT after I got the new tires, no matter what lane I was in!
If you're retired and like to spend time at the dealer, then continue to have them check it out or replace part after part because they have NO clue OR just contact the tire company ASAP and correct the problem now!!
Just my .02 from EXPERIENCE with CHRYSLER and their "5-STAR" dealers and their factory reps!

I also lucked out and found one with ABS brakes. I was concerned about buying a car without anti-locks, but the one I selected had them.
I also feel I got a great deal. The Jeep Dealership here in the Chicago area gave me a very good price.
I did my homework and research. Thank you Edmunds (as well as those who helped me on this message board) for your help.
I pick it up next Saturday. Something to look forward to.
I am getting ready to order my Liberty and wish I could get the options of the limited with a 5 speed. Anyone know how I could find out what options are going to be available for the '03's? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
I believe I negotiated a good price. I'm very happy with it.
Good luck with your search. I test drove probably 7 different models of SUVs, and nothing came close to the Jeep Liberty.
I hope the Jeep dealer you are working with is as good as the one I'm purchasing mine from here in the Chicago area.
According to the research I did previous to purchasing a Liberty, yes these are legitimate
fees paid by the dealer and passed on to the consumer. They can be as high as 3% of MSRP
so plan accordingly. They're just like the destination charge, dealers have to pay it and pass it on to us. Cost here in Ma was $300 for adv. fees.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your search.

That would be my guess. You might take it into the service department and see if they have heard similar complaints.
Thanks!
I'll get that in writing from him.
Thanks

(need to fix the letter/word wrap which Edmunds mangles, by eliminating the return)
From from I've read, and talking with dozens of Jeep owners, the Jeep is a good vehicle to purchase. Jeep owners are loyal to Jeep. And, there's a reason for that. They've been happy with their experience with Jeeps. I would venture to say Jeep owners tend to buy more than one Jeep during their driving lives.
Jeep doesn't pretend to be what it isn't. The Liberty isn't an SUV on a car body. It's a true SUV. The Honda CRV is just a Honda Civic on an SUV frame. The Toyota RAV4 is just a Camry on an SRV frame.
I wanted an SUV, and I know that's what I've bought.
I'm satisfied with my decision. Jeep is a name that has been around for a long time. And, read all of the postings on Edmunds from long-time Jeep owners. You will see many satisfied Jeep owners.
I've wanted a Jeep for a long time, and I'm finally getting one. I believe your wife will enjoy driving the Liberty.
To me the key to reliability is how the owner takes care of his or her vehicle. If you change the oil every 10,000 miles and never take care of the vehicle, it will become unreliable.
If you maintain it and not treat it like a rented mule, you shouldn't have to worry about reliability.
Good luck with your decision.
I love the Liberty! First few days off the lot I have averaged about 15 miles to the gallon but I was ready for that! It is a real fun SUV to drive AND to own!
Why on Earth would Jeep run an anti-hunting ad? Doesn't that eliminate about 16 million potential customers?
I haven't seen the ad, so I don't know. But, groups such as PETA will stoop to any level to further their agenda.
CUSTOMER COMPLAINT OF A BROKEN RADIO ANTENNA.
Ok, their antenna broke. Is that considered a TSB? I wouldn't think so.
I guess it WAS a real Jeep ad, but due to pressure, they pulled it. You should still write them and let them know their errant ways. Look at how KMart stock fell after they took Rosie as a spokesperson. Their stock is through the floor.
Last week, the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance sent a call to action for sportsmen across the country about a commercial being run nationally by Jeep that glorified anti-hunters and vilified sportsmen. Sportsmen immediately took action, flooding the company with telephone calls and faxes expressing their displeasure with the ad.
According to a letter received today, these actions prompted the auto manufacturer to cancel the commercial.
“We did not anticipate this story line would evoke such negative emotion among some viewers,” stated Jeff Bell, vice president of marketing communications for DaimlerChrysler, Jeep’s parent company. “Obviously we underestimated the sensitivity of this issue. [B]ecause this is so emotionally charged, we will no longer continue this campaign.”
In the ‘Deer Hunter’ commercial, a man drives a Jeep through a wooded site with two deer tied on top of the vehicle. As the Jeep drives by, hunters are shown in the woods, in close proximity to each other and the road, admiring the man’s deer. The driver of the Jeep then drives to a location that shows a “No Hunting” sign. The Jeep stops, the man gets out and releases the deer that appeared to be dead. The driver tells the deer they are safe and the deer bound away. In the background, other Jeep owners are shown doing the same thing.
“This is concrete proof that the sportsman’s voice should not be taken lightly,” said Rick Story, vice president of the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance. “When the voices of the millions of sportsmen in this country all speak as one, a great deal can be accomplished.”
Sportsmen weren’t the only ones objecting to the commercial.
Jay Menuskin, facilitator for Prebul Chrysler-Plymouth-Jeep in Chattanooga, Tennessee felt the commercial was offensive to his clients. He called the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance to “apologize for the tasteless ad that did not serve any useful purpose.”
DaimlerChrysler is to be congratulated for quickly removing the ad from the air once it began hearing from sportsmen. Although the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance is satisfied with DaimlerChrysler’s decision, the fact that the ad even made the airwaves is still cause for concern.
“It is unbelievable that any company competing for customers would take an action that would alienate a huge group of them,” said Story. “I would certainly hope that DaimlerChrysler officials get a better handle on how their campaigns will be received before they launch them across America in the future.”
The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance protects the rights of hunters, anglers and trappers nationally in the courts, legislatures, at the ballot, in Congress and through public education programs. For more information about the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and its work, call (614) 888-4868 or visit its web site, www.ussportsmen.org.

Translation: We thought we could pick on those un-PC hunters. However, they're really organized and they came at us like an angry mob. We are forced to backpedal. But we didn't apologize. Hope they still have an outside chance of buying a Jeep/Chrysler product.

Now I am excited. Knowing it is finally built makes all the difference.
I was wondering how everyone is doing on getting a decent interest rate. I would love some input on Banks that are low interest right now.
Thanks!
part of November so i could do battle with the mid-wests snow during my 100 mile per day commute, no snow until yesterday. Loved that liberty on dry roads but it is even more impressive on snow and ice even though we only had 3 inches can't wait for the big snow so i can
go out and play. 4 wheel anti lock brakes were a huge plus
The rates I got for a 6 year loan were great. 7% that was in November, however I didnot go through them cause my credit union offered slightly better if I had them withdraw directly from my checking account. Try Lending Tree though... they take all you information and look for the best rates. It is so easy.
Good Luck... and hopefully the next two weeks or so will fly.

Enjoy your Liberty - you'll love it.
As for the Liberty being too small....from what I understand the Libby is LARGER than the Cherokee in every way....must be an illusion? I believe there's still some Cherokees on the lots...you may want one of those
