"Proteges and Canadians by mikegold_1966 Dec 11, 2002 (07:10 pm)

First of all, the Protege is the 97th most stolen car in the United States. That is why I posted that fact. Around my parts, if a car jacker sees a Protege, he will go for the Cutlass Ciera instead. Enough said I think.

As far as Canadians, we have more people living in the state of California than your entire country. The only thing Canadians are experts on are beer, donuts and hockey in that order. Also, they all love saying EH after every other word for some reason that has always perplexed me.

The lame statistics everyone is posting about their beloved Protege also amazes me. The Protege is #1 in Quebec---I would love to know your source and what documentation you have to prove this fact. Every time I have been to Montreal, I see all the Frenchies driving in around Fords and Chevy SUV's sipping on Tim Horton's coffee wearing their beloved Montreal Canadien's jerseys."

I almost violated my TH member agreement with this guy :)

    Hahaha!!

    What a fantastic post...not.

Where was that posted?? The link you provided doesn't work.
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
Maintenance & Repair board, in the "Does the Protege compare in reliability to Civic or Corolla?" discussion.

    Keep up.

I can't believe that post is still up. If it were coming from somebody that actaully showed intelligence, I might be offended. However, from reading his posts, it just comes off as laughable.

And the *ahem* individual (I would like to use another term...) that was talking about "Canadian Bacon" obviously doesn't understand that while jokes were being made about Canada, it was actually a satire on American Culture.

That's quite the gong show of a thread. I'll have to subscribe :D\

Oh...And I can't wait till some of our more "outspoken" members get wind of it....hehe!
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
... and the comments containing that "R" word that we're not allowed to say ... you know, because it's offensive to people from a particular country.

Please! I wasn't attacking Americans, just that guy and his messed-up reasoning. He made a general comment about Canadians deducted from stereotypes. I made a comment about him in a polite way as I could considering his post. There's a little difference in there I believe.

Dale: Can we have a group hug?

Clint: Happy B-Day (if it is indeed your b-day).

    Here's your group hug: ((((((()))))))

(And why would I make up something like Clint's birthday? It really is today.)

I saw that 500 was coming up, but couldn't think of anything pertinent to say.

Little did I know that impertinence would do just fine.

  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
#499. Jason's company is having their holiday party tonight...last night, he was trying to decide what to wear.

#500. Meade got Posse post #500.

    #501. I made a lame play on words (pertinent/impertinent).

#502. Darren pointed out the lameness of my little joke, by stating that impertinence is expected in the Posse topic. He also got in some good alliteration.

    #503. I concurred with him.

Hope that clears things up for you!

    :)

I was confused about Meade talking about 500. Didn't look to realize it was post#500...

    Un-confused Dinu

PS: Teacher, is the such a word?

I know what you mean...I had gray slush frozen onto my car for about a week there last month. I HATED it. And let me tell you, it's not at all pretty on a white car.

    Drive safely!

    You what?

  • protege_fanprotege_fan Member Posts: 2,405
You let it sit there for a week?
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
What am I supposed to do with all that ice? It's in large patches, all over the car. The roof is one BIG patch. I have a few on the hood and the exterior of the mirrors (on the black case that faces the front of the car) are solid! I'm not going to scrape it off. Can't take it to a car wash - the whole car will be frozen.

  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
    Ditto what Dinu said.

I had to wait a week or so until the temps rose and I could get the car washed.
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586

I've had that happen last winter. I say leave it on. You could potentially do damage to the paint if you try to knock it off.

You know...reading Dale's post again, I'm laughing at myself.

When I read "slush," I thought she meant the drink. Not sure why...maybe it's just what I expected to hear from her! :P

Anyway, the only time I get rid of ice/slush buildup is if it's right behind the tires. Sometimes you get these huge buildups of ice from the road and when you go over a bump or slope you can feel the ice hit the ground...not good for your bumper!

Luckily we get chinooks which gives us time to wash the car and not worry about the car freezing over.

You waited until the temperature "dropped"? This would mean the temperature further decreased (ie. got colder). I know it's not what you meant...but it's dang fun to harass you over it.
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
The buildup behind the mudguards I kick it (gently - but how do you kick gently?) < Oxymoron perhaps?

As for the bumper, I use my runing shoes and slowly push it off...
