Ahhhhhhhh...I never said it provided cleaner sound.
However, you can actually go one step further and get an adaptor that uses an FM modulator that would plug into the stereo's antenna connection which would be as effective.
How about posting your manual vs. computer calculated MPG figures for your fill-ups? Most interesting would be those MPG figures which are at least 3 consecutive tankfuls. If you've got them all, post all. Thanks.
With only 560 miles I am getting 22.6 and it seems to be within .4mpg of the trip computer. I did reset the thing after the first fillup though. I suspect that once the thing get broken in and I switch to amsoil the mpg will improve. OH, love the car. Only problem is keeping the wife from driving over 90 on the freeways. Azera/limited/ultimate with GPS
Hmm, also have the limited/ ultiate but no GPS. I didn't think they came equipped with one as an option. I do have a Garmin street pilot that I use betwee my vehicles sometimes. I do love the Azera, had it since mid December with about 7500 miles on it now.
There is a Technical Service Bulletin out on the door trim pieces for some Azeras. Sounds as if you have one of them. The dealer will replace all of the strips on both sides at no charge if you ask him to check his computer for the TSB.
Thanks dallar. I showed one dealer the strips and they said they would look into it. Now that I know there is a TSB out on it, I will go to the dealer that I bought the car from and have them do it.
The dealer looked at it this morning and knew immediately it was a defect. The TSB seems to only apply to the rear strip while mine is both driver side front and back. They ordered the chrome strip inset and will replace it on Monday.
Glad that you're getting a positive response from your dealer. Like most, I've found Hyundai dealers hit or miss with regard to service department quality. The dealer I've finally wound up using in Dallas seems to be first class -- unlike the dealer from whom I purchased foam. Regardless, my dealer replaced the strips on both sides completely under warranty.
I took my 06 Azera to my local bodyshop and had all the lettering removed from the trunk. You know Hyundai and Limited. It looks great and the lines are cleaner. With just Azera in the red band people some times confuse the car wuth a Lexus.. Has anyone put in a good backup alert system in yet? I'm looking for one to avoid scratching my rear bumper when parking.
RE: 238 Hope that you didn't spend too much for the removal. It took less than five minutes using dental floss and MMM adhesive remover. I have installed an audio vox back up system on my 06 Azera. My system uses 4 sensors and an audio only alert. It looks factory installed as I had the sensors painted to match the bumper. Total cost including unit, painting and installation was about $300.00 The system works great.
I have been looking at the posts on the coming Genesis and saw a post about how many Azera owners brag about the low price they paid compared to invoice pricing.
I am curious. How many current Azera owners, now that they have the car, would in hindsight been willing to pay a $1,000 more for an Azera, if that's what it took to buy one. I for one, knowing now how much I like the car, would have paid an extra grand, if I had to do it over. Not that I want to pay more, but do I feel the car might be :confuse: worth a $1,000 more than I paid.
So...you want to know if any of us would be willing to pay $1000 more than what we actually paid?
Considering what I paid, $26,018..yes, I would have paid $1000 more and not feel like I got ripped off. At $27K, the car is a steal based on what you get for the money! Actually, had I not been a Hyundai owner before getting my Azera, I would have paid $1000 more, but I got the $1000 loyalty cash from Hyundai.
Like you, I truly love the car. I've had mine over a year now and have about 32K miles on it. The Genesis is VERY appealing, but I actually would NOT trade my Azera in for one.
My neighbor across the street just bought a car that I was considering before buying the Azzie(an Acura). Yesterday he took me to a small town about 30 miles away for lunch. I definitely bought the right car. I, knowing what I do now and having owned the Azzie over one year, would even consider spending 2grand more! As for the Genesis, it's OK. But starting with a clean sheet of paper as they did, I expected something more dramatic stylingwise. I'm thinking Merc S class or the upcoming Jaguars. Styling needn't cost that much. Just my opinion.
I have 1,700 miles on my Limited and the car is great. Much better than the Lexus, Infiniti and Acuras to which I compared it, reggardless of cost. Everything works great and I get about 3 MPG less than I did with a Camry V6-and I think that is great for this car. One down side is you cannot run the fan with the vents only (AC kicks in). However, you can turn the AC off and open sunroof or lower rear windows about two inches and get good ventilation and it is amazingly quiet. Also, mud flaps should be standard as it seems to produce a lot of brake dust which easily gets on side of a silver car. Has anyone noticed a problem with moisture on the inside of the windows if you leave them down overnight, even in a closed garage? Happened to me once, but it may have been high humidity in a closed enviroment. I suggest you WRITE a letter to Huundai USA if you have recomendations. They are not very responsive, but eventually will. The national call center is not that good and I doubt they forward the letters on. I got a package from Hyundai that says warranties on paint, audio and battery are three years or less. This is not a "bumper to bumper" five year warranty. All in all, best car I have ever owned, including the "luxury" models in the past.
Scbob...you CAN run the fan with the vents only. If you have had your climate control in "auto" mode, then you will need to manually turn the 'A/C' on and then off again. This will turn the A/C compressor off. Anytime the climate control has been in "auto" mode, the A/C compressor will be on, even though the A/C light isn't on. Once you have manually turned the A/C on, then off...it is off.
Never had a problem with moisture on the inside of the windows at all. Could be an environment issue.
i have been driving up and down the I-95 corridor;Sarasota Florida_McLean,Va;Nassau county N.Y. for at least two years; to date I could tke number of Azeras that I have seen, either at service rest areas or on the interstates! is there any reliable figure providing the actual number of Azeras(without the XG350 inclusions) If so I would appreciate the reference concerning the 2007 azera limited !
You wouldn't include the XG's as they are a totally different model. The Azera is also known as the TG model if you look them up when it comes to aftermarket stuff.
Are you just looking for a number of Azeras that have been sold since they came out???
The first year they were out, I could probably say I would see an average of one per month. Now, they are popping up to to tune of maybe 3 or 4 that I'll see in a week.
I R Hyundai is a great site for that kind of data. Please note that the Koreans (for whatever reason) still use the XG moniker. You may see an XG/TG, that is an Azera. For 2007, Jan thru March, US retail sales were about 6,000 for the Azera versus 30,000 for the Sonata, with the amount sold of the Azera going up every month. (the XG referred to, in the 07 stats, is the Azera).
Our '07 Limited/Ultimate package just rolled over the 8,000 mile mark. Its powered rear sunscreen is making ugly 'worn-out-gear' sounds & had 'erectile dysfunction'. I 'assisted it downward & turned it off until we can drop the car off @ dealer's shop for a couple of days.
There is a short list of other niggling bits for them to fix also: front end 'clunking' in road depressions, rubber weatherseal coming loose off L. rear door, major rattles when subwoofer gets cooking at volume #8 or higher, serious hesitation when attempting to depart from rest quickly or 'kick down' to pass a slower vehicle, sticking accelerator pedal when W.O.T. engaged, a rough engine idle at times, especially if in "Drive", and finally, my wife says it squeaks (or was it "squeals"?) when making a U-turn.
On the bright side, it's averaging 19.2mpg in city and crummy commuter freeway traffic, appeared to use no oil by the 7,4xx mile change, is very comfortable, and has received many compliments re. exterior appearance and interior seating accommodations.
Oddly, I've seen fewer than 10 other Azeras on the road in SoCal.
Sorry to hear of your Azera issues. There have been a few other postings of problems with the rear sun shade, but not too many. The rattling in the back from the subwoofer can be taken care of pretty easily. The easiest way is to stuff some quilt batting in between the rear deck and the cover panel. Also, make sure the car seat anchor covers are snapped down tightly...they'll rattle a bit too. The hesitation sounds like a transmission programming issue. I would have them check that out when you drop it off for the other things.
Hope all things are resolved for you and you can be a happy camper!
I have had rear sunshade replaced twice. Second repair appears to be working fine. Some issues take a bit of battle with the service department. I believe that the reason for the hard time sometimes given by the advisors relates to the fact that they do not know enough about their products. Many Forum participants have much more knowledge about the Azera. Too bad!
I checked using the same pump at the same station the same time of day and let it cut off the same number of times to get the number of gallons. It calculated to be better than the onboard computer shows. I got 27 MPG on a recent trip. Most of it was on interstate at 70, but some around town with a lot of stop and go and low speeds. It seems to get about the same on "country roads" at 60 MPH and some city driving. With 1,700 miles, it is getting 3 MPG less than my 2003 Camry V6. I'm pleased. Much better and bigger car.
I sent a letter to Hyundai USA asking this - no response in two months. However, it appears you push the button to activate the system, then it senses the air and if it is inferior, it changes to recirculate. May not work unless AC or heater is on. I've used mine and it will light up when I turn it on, go out later and then later light up again. Will continue to go on and off. I assume it is changing from outside air to recirculate.
RE:260 You are correct. The sensor detects "bad" air and switches to recirculate from the normal outside air mode. The system is doing exactly what you paid the big bucks for.
Use of the AQ will not only keep un-filterable nasties like hydrocarbons out of the cabin, the fine particulate sensing will help extend the life of the filter by switching to recirculate. There's a lot of road building going on here, on Rt 41, and if there's the slightest puff of construction dust, the recirc. LED lights up 'till I'm well past the stuff...
Just wanted to give an update on my experience as a new Azera Limited owner (2007 - Ultimate package) in case you are considering buying one.
The Azera is, by far, the best car I have ever owned (age = 60). I have had zero problems after 5,000 miles and have enjoyed every minute of ownership.
You simply cannot beat the luxury features for the money. And the quality is very high. Forget that the car is built in Korea... focus on value.
Replying on two questions here. The AQ system is good, but remember to change the cabin filter. This is one thing that the owner's manual actually shows you how to do. Also, one reason I bought an Azera was because I was tired of every fourth car being just like mine. There are too many Toyotas and Lexus out there. It's better to be unique, as well as having a better car.
Won't bore anyone with all the purchase details as my saga is in the Buying Experience thread.
I am 55 and have been driving for 40 years and have owned countless cars including a '97 Cadillac Eldorado.
I just traded in our 2004 Sonata for a 2007 Azera Limited with Ultimate Option Group 25. My Azera
The Azera is the single best value on the market! Nothing compares at this price point.
I shopped and compared everything in the under $40K range from Audi, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Benz, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Lincoln, Cadillac, etc, etc, etc.
Some of the models road a little better, some had a little more horsepower, some a little better styling but none can put the ride/handling, horsepower, styling, warranty into a package like the Azera and sell it for under $30K. (my out the door price was $28,411 (including all rebates, taxes, title, doc fee).
A wise man once said (and I think he did again recently with Snoop-Dog), "If you can find a better car, Buy It!" Well, I found a better car and I bought it. :shades:
Too bad Hyundai can't use that slogan.
I'll post updates as I get more mileage on the car.
Already have 250 miles on our new Azera and I have to say it is an exceptional ride compared to my old '04 Sonata and from what I can recall rivals the comfort and ride of my old '97 Eldorado.
I shouldn't admit it but yesterday on I-80 I caught myself doing 90+. It felt nothing like my Sonata when I ever had it up that fast.
The AQ System works very well. Came up behind this car that was exhausting oil fumes and the AQ immediately sensed it and switched over to recirculate. Once I passed the car it switched back to fresh air.
Acceleration from a stop or passing another car is quick and effortless.
Something I did not know. If the Rear Window Sunshade is up and you put the car in reverse the Sunshade goes down and then when moved to drive it goes back up. Kind of cool.
You MIGHT want to keep the speed down and leave "jack-rabbit starts" in the hutch until you have about 1200 miles on your Azera. The book suggests a "break-in" period. I (more or less) followed that suggestion and I even had the oil/filter changed then, figuring that then would be the time of the greatest quantity of metallic junk floating around, that I wanted to be rid of.
We own an 06 Azera limited ultimate with about 5200 miles on it. Just got back from a drive to Branson, MO, roundtrip distance of 625 miles. We got 28 mpg on the steady highway driving part of the trip. We have had no problems with the car so far and would strongly recommend it.
The dealer replaced the two metal insert strips but while doing this, made small chips in the moulding holder and scratched the door paint. Much apologies and mea culpas but now they have agreed to send my car to an outside body shop and replace the trim completely and air brush any imperfections in the paint. We'll see next week how it comes out.
2007 J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study (APEAL) Award
2007 Azera is listed as “Recommended” by Consumer Reports in its Annual Reliability Survey.
2007 Azera Limited named “Best in Class” in the sedans $25,000 to $30,000 category in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance “Best of 2007 Cars” awards.
2007 Azera sedan achieved the top slot in the large car segment according to Strategic Vision, Total Quality IndexTM (TQI). TQI measures the total vehicle satisfaction among new car owners.
I replied to you in another discussion, but let me make sure we're all the same page. Let's leave the political statements to a more appropriate message board. Thanks.
Has anyone noticed a problem with excessive brake dust on the 2007 Azera? I have 2,500 miles on mine and it seems to create a lot of dust that gets on the wheels and the lower body panel. I have mud guards on order and hopefully that will keep it off the car sides.
Consumer Reports now ranks Azera as "highly" Recommended. This is Recommended with a check added. The check indicates it is not only reliable and so forth, but also safer.
I think I've only seen one other forum comment to that effect since I bought my Azera in November of last year. I've not seen the problem, personally...
RE:273 Although there is considerable brake dust generated on the Azera, I find that the alloy wheels clean very easily. When the time comes to replace pads, I will use ceramics.
The mud guards will help. I swipe the wheels every morning with a 12" hand held shop brush....just takes a minute. I suspect the wheel design is partly responsible. I used a product called "Wheel Wax" on my last car. It really did wonders. One of our boys ran away with the can and never remembers to return it when they visit.

I use a wireless transmitter, and although I agree the it isn't as good as the cassette, it's still pretty good.
Thanks.

I've heard of a couple folks installing back up sensors on their Azzy. I know where you can find one at a good price!
Here's a link to a pretty good wireless system. They have others on this site too.

I have one. It works well, but can't display on audio screen or be selected as easily.
