Tell the truth. You were going downhill all the way. Do the doors unlock using the individual switches? If so it is probably the master ( Drivers Side) switch. Child lock out?
I am a new and happy '07 Azera Limited owner ... purchased it 10/31 w/ 19 miles on the odometer. As of 11/04, it has 150 miles. It is quiet, accelerates easily and smoothly, handles w/ minimal float around corners. Perhaps it's the seat position, but I feel the driver's side blind spot is sizeable. I'm on the tall side, at 5'7" Other than that, I am very pleased.
My basis for comparison (not all are the same class as the Azera, obviously) includes other cars I've owned: Mitsui 3000GT, Toyota Celica and Solara, Nissan Maxima SE Limited.
As for mileage, more to follow ... I have always gotten exceptional gas mileage, compared to the EPA ratings. And, that's irrespective of manufacturer.
I agree w/ you, CBRTurbo, Hyundai hit a homer w/ this vehicle. Any potential owners, take note: Hyundai is dealing to get these off the lot. I negotiated $1500 under dealer invoice, and full Kelly Blue Book/Edmunds trade-in for mine.
Am now up to 2000 miles on my 2007 azera, ultimate pkg and its doin fine, no complaints. One small problem, back seat heater doesn't seem to push out any air, anyone have a similar issue? Also interested in a programed fob, anyone do it? S/E WI dealer is Arrow in W Allis, good folks, plenty of inventory, impressive place. Suggest u look in Cons Report car dope along with Edmunds for info on price and cost, will help the dealing. Good luck JJTEE
No,not down hill, but drove conservatively.Did not use the air conditioner much. Just checked the door locks. Back doors lock, both manually and using the switch.Front doors will not lock manually or using the switch. This is from the inside.
Hyundai only allows one part ordered at a time, to attend to the problem!
That sounds like an utter load of crap. Is there no end to the nonsense from car dealers? I believe he told you that, but I don't believe for a second that it's true.
If it were, that would be the end of Hyundai for me as a possibility.
Yes, getting the same results with the remote, key, inside switch and inside door handles. Back doors work. They lock from the inside, using any method.
You know...the Edmunds review states that a driver that was around 6'2", didn't have any head room. I'm 6'2", and don't have the slightest issue with headroom myself. I don't know how that guy was sitting, but I wonder if he knew he could lower the seat position!!! LOL
I'm still trying to determine what features can be performed on the 07 Azera steering wheel audio control. Can you select presets or select discs on Infiniti system?
Hey, Floridabob1 If 07 Azera and 07 Grandeur TG(Korean name of Azera) has same funtion of Steerign wheel audio control, you can use preset seek fubtion in Radio pressing seek button short.
Radio: 'Preset Seek' with Short Pressing & 'Channel up/dn' with Long Pressing Tape: 'AMS up/dn' with Short Pressing & 'FF/REW' with Long Pressing 6 CD: 'Track up/dn' with Short Pressing & 'Disc up/dn' with Long Pressing
I wonder if anyone has come across this ad for the Azera and can tell what country it aired in. I thought it was nicely done. It would have been an excellent commercial to run at the Super Bowl.
Re: post 139 Thanks for your reply1 The ability to select presets is a great improvement, as I usually listen to just a few stations when in town. My guess is that most drivers have similar favorite stations. It appears that from what I have read from those who have upgraded from 06 to 07 switch, this function is unavailable.
I don't think you can do anything with presets from the column, but you can press the arrow keys to move from disk to disk. I wish if you set random on 1 disk it would hold for all the disks instead of having to hit random each time you change.
Re #142 Have you made the modification on the 06 to the 07 switch? I wonder if they made a modification to the audio system to accomodate the extra features or available in the 07,( preset activation) or is it just a change in the switch and wire harness?
My '07 Azera steering wheel feature allows me to switch modes (AM/FM1/FM2/disc) as well as radio stations, disc tracks within a mode. You're right, these are great features!
RE: 146 Thanks for reply! Thats the feature I really want. If your dealer is knowledgable about the 06 vs.07 audio systems, perhaps they can tell us why all features can't be duplicated. If the wire harness and head units are same for both years there must be something else that restricts these new features. Software changes and eproms are good guesses, but neverless they are guesses.
RE;148 Susan I found the correct phone number and contacted Cliff. He is a very nice guy, but was unable to help because he says that he has the same problem that many owners have. The company has not provided dealers with updated information about many models. He has been attempting to install a radio in a new Elantra ( can you believe the model comes with no radio) and the company can't give him installation kit or wire harness information. He suggested that maybe the manufacturer of the head unit updated the equipment to provide the additional features, but Hyundai assigned it the same part number. It is a guess on his part, but he claims that they have done similar things in the past. Has anyone been able to get any other information?
The tire come from the manuf with 40-45 lbs for shipment. This is to prevent "flat spots" on the tires during shipment. There is a TSB that instructs the dealer to lower the pressure to the normal cold tire inflation. I believe this is suppose to occur in "make ready" but again many dealers don't seem to know a lot about the cars.
Better get rid of that one quick if not keep good documentation and get it replaced under the lemon law. On the other hand, my 2007 has been perfect in every way. Not any of the issues you have mentioned. I also had a 2006 as a loaner waiting on the 2007 to come in and it was excellent as well.
Previous posts here mentioned less-than-stellar gas mileage. I filled the tank today, and manually calculated 27 MPG. The computer correctly calculated the MPG, too. I drove 40/60 city/freeway split, and used 85 octane. It is recommended here because of the altitude here in Colorado.
I took delivery of my 2006 Limited Premium just over 2 weeks ago on Oct 25th. It's a great car and so far I think I am going to really enjoy having such a classy vehicle.
I do have on niggle which has been there since day one. I have problems loading CDs into the 6 disk CD player. It just does not seem to pick them up and slide them in. I thought maybe the problem was just the way I tried to gently slide them in. It has taken some without problems and others on a second or third try. At this time I just don't seem to be able to get any to go in. Anyhow, I will try to get this fixed as a warranty issue.
RE: 153 Good to hear. Does the memory seat function work without key in ignition? Did they add back "tilt in reverse" rear view mirrors? Can power pedals be set into memory function? What brand of tires are they now using?
I can tell you they're still using Michelin tires. That probably won't change unless they get mass complaints about the tires that are coming on the cars.
I thought the power pedals could be set into the memory function, at least that's what the salesman told me when I was looking. My understanding was steering wheel, seat, mirrors and pedals would all be programmed into the memory setting.
Floridabob1, no...I have an '06. I honestly couldn't remember if the pedals were included in the memory settings or not. I recall the salesman saying that they did, but of course...I purchased mine back in March. Funny thing is...after all the talk about the memory settings, I ended up getting the Azera Limited with the premium package as I would have had to have waited on one with the ultimate package and the wife and I decided that since I do most of the driving anyway...we could live without the few extra bells and whistles.
you have to press the "load" button on the azera in order for the CDs to load. I realized this after trying to stuff the CDs into the slot and it won't go in. At first I considered using some lubrication =P, but then I saw the load button.
If you push and hold the load button down till it beeps, it'll allow you to load discs in succession. Same applies with the eject button...if you hit it once and you eject one, if you hold it down till it beeps, then it will empty all 6 discs in succession.
Bought the 06 Azera SE in silver at the end of October. Currently have 6,800 miles on it. No real problems. Everyones first reaction to the car is they love the way it looks and so do I. It was a hit when I took it to Tavern on the Green in Manhattan for dinner. The parking attendants hadn't seen one before and were amazed that it was a Hyundai- they were impressed. Interior reaction is that it is much quieter than what people expect and has a luxurious ride. Sorry guys I don't have the clunking noises or the thumping sounds that many of you have expressed (my dealer believes these issues exist more with the Limited because of the low profile 17" rims). The car did ride rough when I first bought it but the dealer determined that the tires were still in the low 40 lb pressure and deflated them properly to a smooth ride. If you are looking for tight sports car road feel- this is not your car. The steering is very soft. My daily commute is a split between high speed highway driving and local urban roads. I am averaging around 23-25 MPG. On long hauls to Virginia and back we averaged just over 26 and with one tank of gas each way. Comfortably fits the whole family. Over the weekend I had installed the Grandeur front grill just to personalize it a bit. The dealer service techs saw it yesterday and are all checking out the sites on Ebay to get theirs. The trunk space is impressive and has come into good use shuttling my son back and forth to college.
Minor peeves- After or during a rain, when you open the trunk lid, water that has built up behind the tailights tends to drip in mass into the trunk and if you have items in the trunk they get soaked from these edge drippings. The storage drawer under the radio is sized just a bit too small and cannot fully fit a typical CD case. Seems like a terrible waste of space for an obvious use.
This is probably the best value in the large car class and even comes with a cigarette lighter standard.
Mine is a Silver/Black Limited with Ultimate package. I only have about 1,000 mi. on mine, but my mileage is also ranging between 22-24, with a lot of in town stuff (incluidng interstates).
Damn, this is a GREAT car. I also have had no problems.
My pet peeve would be the visbility of the trip computer info during day light hours. Speedo and Tach are fantasic, but the poor little trip computer between the two doesn't have the same brightness.
I also have had valet parkers who really liked it "Swanky" one called it.
At a 1,000 miles it is just getting broken in and you'll feel the difference on the ride only getting better. The SE's dash is different and not as slick as the Limited so I'm not experiencing any visibility issue with the trip computer read out. The only other peeve I have is that I would like the Shiftronic transmission to engage more actively when downshifting going down a hill. Many times it doesn't engage for seconds when all you want it to do is drop one speed 5 to 4, so you shouldn't have to brake.
The safety rating along with theft deterrents and the eight air bags kept my insurance cost down also for a new car. My wife enjoys driving this car and she is tough to satisfy. Drive and enjoy your new Azera.
Hi All: Just purchased a 2006 Azera Limited and I love it. One question: The rear door locks engage when put into gear and they do not unlock unless I unlock them from the main lock switch on the driver's door, or operate the unlock button on the door itself. Can this be programmed to unlock the doors when the car is put into park? Thanks
When I took my car in and had the dealer program the doors to automatically lock at 15 mph, they also programmed the processor to automatically unlock all four doors when the key is removed from the ignition...
I have an '07 but it's probobly the same deal. The locks can be programed by the dealer in several different modes. You just choose when and if you want the doors to lock or unlock and they can quickly set them like you want them.
Hey guys, I am interested if anyone knows where I can find the torque curve on the 3.8L V6 that is in the Azera. I went to the hyundai-worldwide site and got their brochure which has a torque curve, but its for the 3.3L V6 they put in the korean granduer and the american Sonata/Santa Fe.
I just returned from the first road trip in my 07 Azera LTD/Ultimate. I averaged 28.4 MPG, with an average highway speed of 80 MPH. I used the cruise control. The terrain is mountainous, w/ altitude ranging from 4,600 ft to 7,200 ft.
We drove round-trip from suburban northwest Denver to Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque, NM. With two adults and a trunk full of luggage, the car performed well.
The Azera was so road quiet, even with a howling winter wind. It handled very well, on roads that were frequently snowy and icy. My traveling companion, who needs a new car this year, will look closely at the Azera; he fell in love w/ mine!
I have a 2006 Azera. When put in park only the drivers door would unlock. I went to the dealer and they reprogrammed the locks so when the car goes in park all the lock open at the same time. It had nothing to do with the key fob though. Its much better now for getting stuff from the back seat.
I have a question about the inside lights in the 06 Azera. The only lights that go on when you open the door are the foot lights. Can they or me program the top inside lights to go on??
The main interior light (centered a bit behind the front seat line) should be coming on with the doors open and should remain on for 30 seconds or until you start the car. Be sure you've checked the light's "Door" button to ensure it's depressed...
If you want the overhead light to come on as well as the foot lights when you open the door/hit unlock button on fob: The rear seat overhead lights has a button that says door. Press that. Now you will have overhead lights for above situations. EZPZJPEZ

Yes, I can scroll through the presets using the up/down arrow on the steering wheel. Very nice feature, since you can keep your eyes on the road.
Here's to a great day!

Susan,
Never sell that car. Both you and your Azera are blessed.
Continued good luck!
