Bought new on 5-22-10 in central Texas. Paid $17,700 for the car, $19,250 OTD. It did not have any options added on. Paid cash, no financing, no extended warranty.

I was initially in the market for a 2010 Civic LX and checked around like crazy (Houston, Austin, San Antonio) for the best price. This dealership had the best price for the LX (in some cases by about $1000) so I decided it would be worth it to upgrade to the EX. I didn't check any other dealerships for prices on the EX -- just figured I'd found the lowest-priced dealership and went with them. Maybe I could have done better? I'll never know.

    I wouldn't say "all" leather.

You would be surprised at how little actually is leather and not a good grade of vinyl.

Only the part you sit on and the seatbacks are leather.

To try and answer your question, there is no "right" answer here.

I learned that people who are used to the power and features of a V-6 Accord are often not happy downgrading.

Unless they don't have sales tax in your area I don't think you'll be able to buy either that Civic or the CRV for that little money but if you can, that would be a money loser for them.

    Just picked,
    $18,400 including dest.
    $ 21,811 (OTD)
    $1559 Taxes
    $ 25 CVR
    $ 150 Doc
    $ 120 Lic & Title
$ 1559 (remote, fog lights, cargo hooks, fog lights, cargo net, door edge flim, all season mat, misc....)
    Paid Cash
    -------
went for the lowest of the internet prices. Did not respond to mails without dollar amount. If I have to do it again, I will not keep the accessories as the part of the negotiation to begin with. Like the car though, especally, when you can listen to your music loaded into the pen drive.....

I am considering one of these as my next. I know there are lease incentives going on now, and I am wondering what kind of deals readers have gotten for both lease AND purchase ( The 2007 Accord I have have out on lease is coming due soon and I will come in with 15,000 miles UNDER contract!!)

Just bought a 2010 Civic LX Coupe:

    $15,150 includes dest
    $1482 taxes 9.75 (northern CA)
    $55 doc fee
    $270 lic/registration/CA tires/
    $16957 OTD
I'm pretty happy. I did all my negotiations through the internet and over the phone. The Sedan would have been $15,197 plus everything else. I decided to go with a 2 DR.
I dealt with a dealership with a horrible rep but they were good with me.

"dealt with a dealership with a horrible rep but they were good with me."

It pays to be lucky... Congrats on your new Honda!

It seems like the hardest part of the entire process if finding a "good" dealership. :)

The sticker is just under 19K including destination for the automatic.

The difference for me of a good or bad dealership is that with the bad dealership I would never stick around. I read the horror stories on here about bad dealings with the dealership. No way would I ever put up with that. EVER! And no one else should either. My opinion....

I am considering a lease of a Honda Civic-LX (automatic). The best offer to date (in Miami) is $159 a month (plus tax) for 36 months (12,000 miles per year). The out of pocket is $599 for lease fee, first payment and tag/title fees (probably about $1000 total). Is this a good lease deal?
  • steve_rbtssteve_rbts Member Posts: 17
I can get the Civic LX for $16,600 OTD with 1.9 financing now
or wait for the 2011 models later this year and hope the LX has
Electronic Stability Control. I'm sure I would pay more by waiting
and interest rates will probably be higher. Any recommendations?
  • jamtracyjamtracy Member Posts: 75
I got mine in Dublin for 15,150 plus tax and stuff. I thought that was a great price considering I got to pick my color. You did great.
  • jamtracyjamtracy Member Posts: 75
I think that is a great deal considering it's the DX-VP model they advertise for $159 a month. And yeah about $1000 is what you pay up front for a honda. You can role it in but your payment will go up about $30 ish.... Good luck

If I get a new lease will Honda Finance skip the over mileage on the car being returned? That happen on my last turn in. I was over and a year early when I traded. No problem.
  • jay137jay137 Member Posts: 17
We need to know if it is a DX, DX VP or a LX?

Great information. I am planning to buy a new Civic LX in New England area. Is $15600 including everything? Thanks a lot.
  • jay137jay137 Member Posts: 17
I almost got my new Civic yesterday but they wouldn't payoff my 07 Accord EX.
I learned yesterday that Honda is experimenting with not paying salesmen commission. They are testing this in some 'stores' and if it works then they will do it all over. They do pay them a bonus.
That $15600 including everything is good because the latest tactic is to low ball and ad for everything including the cost of toilet paper in the showroom. In most cases they pass over the extra fees as they are standard charges. Look at the national ad that is running on the Honda website under special lease offers. The items that they will ad on seems endless.
I think the auto industry is going to have even more difficult times when cars cost $20,000 and then they become $25,000 with misc. charges. They need to learn that not all Americans make the wages that they do in New York City.
  • helen_bhelen_b Member Posts: 4
Hi Jay137, hope they are testing that in some stores in New England area. How much is your new Civic? also $15600?
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Honda has no such program. They can't tell their dealers how to pay their salespeople.

It's POSSIBLE a store may be doing this on their own and just paying tehm a salary but I've never heard of such a thing.
  • jay137jay137 Member Posts: 17
Is it a play on words? No commission but you now get a bonus instead???
As for the program being from Honda? I don't know because this is a big chain of auto stores from what I'm told so it maybe from this company.
Specifics on the deal was $210.01 x 36 months with zero down. They also want dealer fees of $676.25 up front. LX 4 door. If the dealers fees are included then it is $227.01 per month.
That Honda store was very empty when I went in on Saturday, no customers.

I think I'm going to spring for the Honda Care 6yr/80K miles for $700 from College Hills Honda for my 2010 Honda civic LX Coupe Automatic. This is the lowest price out there for me living in California. Anyone get a better deal? It's $900 for the 7yr/100K plan.

I have a price of 14500 on an LX 5 speed sedan. Seems like a good price. Should I be able to get the 1.9 financing as well at this price?
  • jay137jay137 Member Posts: 17
$14,500 seems like a good price for a 5 speed and they are hard to find. Is this on the East Coast of West?
  • jay137jay137 Member Posts: 17
If you sell Hondas what do you sell the Civic, 4 door, Automatics for. Seems you have customers on here?
  • peterjinpeterjin Member Posts: 2
is 14500 the OTD? If it were, that is the best deal.

No, it is plus tax and registration. I need to go on Saturday to get it. Should I expect to have to pay more to get the special financing?

I heard yesterday that there is going to be a lot of changes for the Civic for the 2011 model year. I think I'll wait to see.
  • jamtracyjamtracy Member Posts: 75
"The 2011 Honda Civic should return essentially unchanged from 2010 as Honda prepares to launch an all-new 2012 Honda Civic. This tabs the 2011 Civic as a lame duck navigating the compact-car waters with a design that dates to model-year 2006. Every key competitor is newer yet none surpasses Civic for engineering precision, refinement, and owner satisfaction. The 2011 Civic will repeat sedan and coupe body styles and again be available as a gas-electric hybrid sedan. Slightly larger than the coupe, the Civic sedan is roomier and rides softer. Sedan or coupe, the middle-of-the-lineup LX trim level should again furnish the best blend of features and value, though driving enthusiasts will find the sporty Si models deliver plenty for the dollar."

This is what I keep reading.... It looks like 2012 is going to be the change.

  • nrborodnrborod Member Posts: 79
seems like others have paid less for an LX
  • nrborodnrborod Member Posts: 79
You sure this is an EX?
That seems like a very great negotiated price--if I understand correctly.
  • jamtracyjamtracy Member Posts: 75
That is possible. I had a quote for 16,900 on my first try for a EX Auto. I'm sure they would have went lower. But 15,150 for an LX auto coupe is what I went with.
That is definitely a great price for an EX they were quoted.

Honda sales were down for the month of May. Take it from there.
  • jamtracyjamtracy Member Posts: 75
Man I wish I didn't have to pay sales tax. That would have saved me 2K. LOL
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Actually after selling Hondas for almost 14 years, I officially retired last month.

Every time I start to miss the business I just come to the "Prices Paid boards.

As long as you don't take as gospel every thing you read on the internet you'll be fine!

Doesn't hurt to try. The lowest I was quoted for the Civic LX sedan with auto was 15,197. Play one against the other and maybe you will get down to 14,XXX. You have nothing to lose by trying SAVE more of your dollars.
  • princessyemeprincessyeme Member Posts: 7
