i am in the market to buy a left over 2002 Si, i got a qoute of $15,500 and they were willing to negotiate in person. i also presented them with a certificate for free 6 disk changer, that i got from someone on www.ephatch.com the dealer said they will honor it. I am shooting for $15K, and an in-dash changer instead of the under seat changer. is that a good deal?
Were it me, I'd take the 15.5K confirming that's inclusive of everything except taxes, title, and license. And, if you're gonna finance, specify you want the 1.9% they're giving on Civics. They'll do 5 years.
Whatever you nail down - destination, documentation fees, options, etc. - the salesman can always come up with something else. "Pinstripe is extra." "That's the advertising cost." The dealer makes a commission on loans placed with a local bank; and with the margins this close, the incentive is there to try to switch that.
So, I'm suggesting something like "Is that 15.5K inclusive of everything except taxes, title, and tags and financed at 1.9% for 5 years?"
the price included the destination, floor mats have not been negotiated, frankly i thought they were standard equipment, if not i can get them from their on-line parts department for $60. And, yes the reason I am getting the Civic is because of the 1.9% apr for 60 months. My payments on the Si will be less than what i paid on my 99 coupe ex, that i got financed through honda for 4.9%
I bought my Si in mid-Dec, after a salesman called me about the 1.9% deal. We negotiated a 15.8K + TTL deal for a white one on the phone, which he got okayed by his sales manager. I got out there; a white one was ready for me, - LOL, with 210 miles on the odo. I said I didn't want that one, and we found one with 20 miles, muds, mats, and pinstripe which he'd sell at 15.8K. The deal paperwork showed a doc fee of $280, along with TTL. I protested. Manager said they'd have to have that and it was fair in light of the mats, muds, and stripe. I reminded him of the phone agreement and offered to split the $280.
If it hadn't been mats, muds, stripe or doc fee, I'm sure it would have been something else. Think I wanted a demo driven on 30 test drives?
The point is to know what you will and won't do, the point where you'll really walk away. They didn't know it, but my walk away point was 16K.
The real deal mats are a little garish, with 'Civic Si' embroidered on them. They also come with anchor pins to keep the driver's side mat from fouling the pedals. If you do mats, make sure to get them in the box with the hardware or to check to see if the pin/peg bracket has been installed. Do it yourself installation is very easy, so don't sweat that.
I live in the Bay Area and, yes, I just bought a 2003 Honda Civic, EX, 4sp AT for $16k. I went through CarsDirect.com. Right after I bought it I got a quote in today for $15.9k! Go figure! Don't even think about MSRP. Look at the invoice and figure out the Dealer Holdback. Also, now's a good time because of the 1.9% financing. Can't beat that! Oh yeah, I got the all weather floor mats which I think are cool.
This is my first Honda (used to have a Toyota pickup before) and I'm curious what people think about the Honda Care plan? If the Civic is that good why pay 1500 for an extended warranty? Yes, I did buy it along with LoJack.
I bought a 2003 LX coupe right after Christmas. I received my deal over the internet from a dealer in the Chicago area. I went in to see the car (Civic DX at first). The sales person told me for $100 more I could get an LX coupe which had air, power locks, power windows, CD player and antitheaft device. I took that deal and got the 1.9% for five years and purchased my 2003 Honda Civic LX for $15,000 total including taxes and transfers etc. I felt good about the purchase.
I am looking for a new civic and i was wondering if anyone from washington state has bought one recently and could tell me how much they paid. If you bought it in eastern washington that will even better.
The dealer in my area seem to be overpriced! They want $13,995 which they say is $2,000 off regular price for a 99 Civic - black - 33,000 miles - certified.
We live in a small area in No. Florida - any other suggestions?
I've had good luck internet shopping. The Honda site will give you net contact info for dealerships, and most have internet sales departments as well as online inventory searches. If you don't find the car and price you want close by, you at can least find out what traveling is worth you.
is that 99 si or ex, coupe or sedan, auto or manual? either way it is too much, but i have seen 99 si's advertized for $15K. to me it is a waste of money, as the 2002 si can be had for that.
I called internet department and they quoted me $15,100 for this car plus TTL & Fees ($15,935 total). I was told I could choose any LX on the lot for this price.
The internet sales people work on salary plus $100 per car plus volume bonuses. The guy told me they have no interest in bargaining nor do they sell add-ons, if the dealer adds stuff (except security systems), the internet sales people will just throw it in the deal.
BLACK, it should have only been offered in black and maybe the electron blue, but not the current yello or blue. the silver, alhtough i like it, makes it look too much like a minivan.
It drives like butter and runs smooth as glass. Don't be jealous cause I actually enjoy my car. Maybe my car is so good to me because I don't say negative things about it all the time. We just let it roll into mailboxes.
Does it drive soft as butter? Oily as butter? Salted or unsalted? You don't say negative things about your car so it is good to you. LOL It is just a car.
Mopar, she's right. Treat it right, it'll treat you right. Sorta like a woman, if you insist on the last word you'll be dogged to death and end up saying 'uncle'. Heck, I wash mine with a soft sponge and pleasingly warm water; and it hums!
On the same note, if you treat it right and don't get good results, it's best to dump it quick and quiet.
This is one of my favorite cars out of the 20-something that we have owned over the last few years. Wouldn't have paid $19,000 for it but at $16,000 I can't think of any new car I would rather have.
2003 Civic 4-Dr LX Auto, PW, PL, CD, Air - all LX stuff
Drove home tonight. Paid $15,300 plus dealer's $269 doc fee and TTL. I am confident I could have not gotten a better price at this dealer, although I am sure better deals are out there.
On a side note, I went out today to get a Corolla, but the dealer was arrrogant and would not come close to Edmund's TMV. I thought I might have to settle for a Civic. But after test driving the Civic, me and my wife liked it much better. I think it is a lot quieter, has smoother engine, better ride, more room, and the stero is ten times better.
I bought a new 2001 Civic LX in Jan 2001. It's a white 4 door sedan with 5 speed manual transmission. I paid $14,304.44 out the door. The base price was $12,998 + tax, registration, doc fee, etc. I thought it was a really good deal. I found it as an "ad car" in the LA Times. I have not regretted my decision. It is an excellent car with reasonable gas mileage of about 34 mpg. The A/C is very effective. I would recommend this car to anyone. The dealer was in Downey, CA. Since I knew the price going in there wasn't much to negotiate. I was done in about 90 minutes.
ok, since i have finished negotiations and basically picking up my car tomorrow, i am giving you the heads up. White plains honda, offered the 2002 Si with aftermarket cd-changer for $15,000. to get the deal, call Donna. they also mentioned the 2003 for $15,800. If interested call her up and ask about it. tell her that David Budek referred you. No, I don't get paid, i just feel that there are too many people overpaying on these cars. good luck. p.s. one thing to watch out for, since white plains honda is owned by the same people as paragon honda, watch out for the finance person giving you BS about the 1.9%. No you don't need to buy extended warranty to qualify, you don't need to to buy gap coverage. all you need is good credit. remeber, window etch is $20 max, honda alarm $120 plus install, lojack IS optional not mandatory.
Look up on weekend Fridasy or Saturday LA Times ad price. We bought our 02 from Clonial Honda in Glendale, one friend got hers from WoodlandHill Honda. All used LA Times Ad price. I know Riverside Honda always has low price too. Good luck,
Last week I bought an Eternal Blue Coupe EX Auto without side airbags. Here is the basic breakdown:
Car Only: $16,600 with 0 down and 1.9 APR
Accessories approximately $1,000: aftermarket alarm, fog lamps, wheel locks, trunk apron, leather wrapped steering wheel, and floor mats
Tip: get the accessories from websites - I could have saved another $500 if had bought accessories online and installed it myself. I'm sure I could have saved a lot of money even if I had the dealer or mechanic install the web ordered parts.
But I'm still happy with the deal. Its my first new car out of college and I'm loving it.
We have located a 99 civic ex,33,000miles certified for $11,990. All the dealers in the area seem to keep their prices pretty consistent (high). My daughter printed out the retail value page here for $9,500 or so. She is headed to the dealer now to try to get them to come off the price.
We found a salvage yard in Atlanta that is selling mostly ones that have been in accidents for $8,995 for the same year. Would this be a viable option? What would I need to ask to be sure I was getting something good?
Also in Atlanta, there is a dealer (Nally Honda - Steve Casey) with 2 SI's (2003) for 14,800. They have been on the lot for over 200 days & are anxious to sell them. I think they are black.
...For my 2003 Civic LX sedan (automatic transmission).
It's Eternal Blue Pearl with gray cloth interior. I put in some aftermarket rubber floor mats in it and an alarm system. Otherwise it is stock.
I got the 1.9% financing deal for 60 months with $0 down. My payments are $289/month.
So far, I've put 1,700 miles on the car and I love it! It's been trouble-free and it gets 34-37 mpg (mostly highway miles).
Carrie and Samj, what kind of wax do you use on your Civics? I tried NuFinish paste wax (comes in the orange can) but it leaves shiny wax trail marks. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I paid $15,000 plus 6% taxes, plus $186 doc & DMV fees. I got different price quotes from different dealers, including $15,194 from far away. I went to the dealer right near my house and told them that I wanted to do business with them, and that I planned to bring my car in for service, but I was willing to go far away for a better deal. What could they do for me? They beat the price and gave me $800 for my 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback DX with 115,400 miles trade in. I put $6,000 cash down, financed at 1.9%, so my payments are $163. I love it.
if i were you i would go for the Si for $14800. if it includes destination, it is a really good deal.the financing on the new si, if qualified, is 1.9%, the financing on certified civic is 4.9%. if ifnanced $14 800 at 1.9% for 60 months the monthly payments are $258, $12 000 financed for 60 months at 4.9% gives you monthly payments of $225. the difference is negligeble. and you don't have to deal with someone else's problems, and you get a more modern vehicle. just my 2 cents
I take my car to a detailing shop when it needs to be waxed (which is about right now- eesh!) but I have in the past used Turtle Wax- ick, never again. I'd rather pay out of pocket to have someone do it for me
Enjoy your new Civic! I'm jealous at your interest rate! That wasn't offered when I bought my 2002 Civic in Jan. '02. Lucky girl!
Enjoy the Civic!
Carrie ~ Lovin' her 2002 Eternal Blue Pearl Civic Sedan
Well if anyone thinks 02 SI's are hard to buy, lol, you are mistaken. A desparate salesman just left a message on my machine offering the car for $14,500, even though the lowest he would go just a month and a half ago was $15,300. They still must be stocked up on them. If I was still interested in the car I would jump on the deal, but no longer interested (waiting in hopes for a 04' CTR), besides I don't use my car. Maybe I'll buy one of their leftover 02's in May when I'm out of college and they are going for $13k, haha.
I just purchased my 2003 Civic Sedan EX this weekend. External Blue Pearl, 5 speed with side air bags at invoice thanks to carsdirect.com.
MSRP $17,770 Invoice $16,280 TMV $16,563
Zero hassle, a little at time of financing (at 1.9%), but the representative found me the car that I wanted and within a week I drove it home. I live in NYC and had to get a friend to drive me to Union, NJ. The hassle-free experience made it all worth it.
Just bought a new EX on Saturday. No side airbags, but it had dealer installed options - wheel locks, pin stripes, mud flaps, and fender molding. Sticker price was $18,320 plus about $500 for dealer add-ons. Invoice was $16,782. I paid $16,380 with 1.9% financing.
I'm in central NJ and just bought a 2003 Civic LX Coupe automatic (no side airbags or other options) for $14,500 incl. destination. Total out the door after 6% taxes and fees, etc. was $15,500.
Good deal and a very pleasurable experience from David Michael Honda in Freehold, NJ. My family has now bought a total of three cars from them since 1991 and I regularly service my 91 Accord there. Overall a wonderful dealership!
I'm so glad I found this site. I'm in the midst of getting qoutes on a 2003 Civic LX four door, automatic. 2 dealers here in Orlando have so far come in with 15,300 one with a 359$ dealer fee and one with a 395$ dealer fee. From reading this site I know I need to make sure they don't try to add extras at the end....any other advice? Thanks
I would try to get them to come down by at least $100 and to include floor mats. That would match the deal I got on the same vehicle in North Georgia three weeks ago. Since then, I have seen people on here post that they got better deals than me on EX 4dr and LX 2dr's.
My 91 Accord is an LX, too. I definitely agree that it's a great car. It still runs perfectly with over 143K, but repairs adding up here and there simply from age and never having been garaged are forcing me to buy a new one. I really hate to part with it, though. No reliability problems at all in 12 years.

Lowest advertised price that you can find on the web now is communityhonda.com for $15k. But someone said there's 1 left in black I believe.

2003 Civic EX Auto
Automatic Transmission
No Side Airbags
A dealer in Georgia is offering $15,000 including destination. Only other charge is $399 document fee + tax + title.
He is also offering Civic 4 DR Auto EX for $16,900.
Is this a good price I am getting? Please let me know.
Thanks.

either way it is too much, but i have seen 99 si's advertized for $15K. to me it is a waste of money, as the 2002 si can be had for that.

I believe $15,100 is below Edmunds TMV
Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge, Va.
On the same note, if you treat it right and don't get good results, it's best to dump it quick and quiet.
