I'm just starting the process of buying a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L with Navigation. I live in Atlanta and am interested in any recent experiences folks have had with the dealers in this area. I'll post updates as I get into my negotiations. Thanks!

    Brian and others,

I have an offer from a dealer in MN for 2014 EX
Price after TTL, doc fee etc $24,985
    Flex cash -$500
    OTD $24,485

I have been asking $24,000 OTD.

Should i go for it keeping in mind that there are a few days left to the month. Also talking to a few other dealers that are a little bit higher.

    THanks for your advice/suggestions

    iffi1,..............Post below info.

Selling price of vehicle ?? Is the dest/ charge included in this price.?

    Dealers doc fee charge?

Is this a standard email quote, or are you in talks with this dealership.

OTD PRICING does not help us break down your deal.

so this is the latest I got:

    Selling price................................$20,598.00
    Freight.........................................$790.00
    Pro fee.........................................$200.00
    Wheel Locks...............................$99.00
    Nitrogen......................................$149.00
    Tax 7%.......................................$1,528.52
Tag&Title..................................$325.00 ( more or less not sure)

Total $23689 OTD for 2014 Sport CVT Sedan. What do you guys think? obviously requires me hauling down to MD to close this deal.

  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244

    Accordnj,

Good deal. Try to get dealer to take off that Bs charge of nitrogen for 149.

Tell dealer its a deal breaker... take off you buy today . Then leave a credit card deposit to show your serious.

Just an FYI in California, Anderson Honda keeps emailing offers of 21,488.00 for an Accord Sport, flex cash included.

Just bought an Accord EX-L for 24,500, including $500 flex cash (finance offer from Honda) from Autonation Honda, Knoxville. Taxes and accessories extra.

    Excellent service!

Just wanted to share. This forum has been a great help in finding a fair price. Thanks all, especially brian125 whose comments have been super-informative.

Hi, I have been shopping for 2014 Accord EXL without navigation in NJ for 2 weeks now. MSRP is 29060 with Dealer invoice as 26650. So far I have been to 3 different dealerships : planet honda, garden state honda and paul miller honda but no one is talking below invoice for the lease of 36 months/12k miles per year. I am looking for 1500 below invoice but none of the dealers in NJ have come close to it so far. I am not sure if I am unjustified in my target price or are the dealers just playing hard ball.. Please advise

    Ankurg,

Market price in NJ for the Accord is between 600 to 1000 below dealers invoice excluding incentives and rebates. Dealers doc fee charges range from 289 to 399 in NJ.. If you are leasing flex cash is not a option.

Go back and read prior posts the last 2 months. read up on deals and dealerships for a better understanding.. If you apply what im saying you to will get a 700 to 1000 below invoice deal in NJ regardless if your financing or leasing. You need to change your leasing approach with dealers.

    Hi,
I bought the 2014 Accord Ex (silver) with Michelin tires, new with 12 miles this week for $22,759 plus PA tax of $1366 plus $270 for Title and tags and Doc Fee ($133) for a total OTD price of $24,395 at Connicelli Honda in PA. I think I got a good deal. Nobody else would even match it. How did I do?

  • rscott016rscott016 Member Posts: 9

I have 3 quotes for a 2014 Accord Sport CVT here in Nebraska.

Superior - OTD $22,976 + $99 doc fee ($149 splash guards that I don't want to purchase). Can still use the $500 flex cash to get down to $22,575 total (including doc fee). T,T,L not included.

O'Daniel - OTD $22,899 including doc fee and flex cash. T,T,L not included.

Honda of Bellevue - OTD $23,642 includes doc fee, window tint, clear edge door guards and splash guards. T,T,L not included. This dealer said if I came in we could still work on the price some more.

It'll run me about $2,100 to license if purchase price is roughly $23,000.

What else could I do with any of these offers or do they look good already?

I bought a Accord EXL in MN.

    Sale Price $25,160
After TTL (includes MN 6.5% rate, doc fee $75) $27312.15
    Flex Cash -$500
    OTD Price $26,812.15

I talked to all 6 dealers in TC area + 1 in Rochester MN. Ended up buying from Buerkle Honda who were the most willing to work on price, along with Rochester dealership. The sales person I worked with was Jim Raaf and I would recommend him.

Brian and rest, I appreciate all the work that has been put in this forum to help people like me.

Initially looked for a 2013 used Honda Accord (I like the new body style) then realized new is not that much difference (in some cases some dealers charging around the same for a used 2013 as a new 2014!) so moving to new. Starting discussions on a 2014 EX, lowest I've gotten in DFW area is David McDavid at $23,500 (but this is before destination, they claim)....I've seen some OTD's on this forum under $25k so that will be my aim....

Great deals to be had, this forum gives me much better ideas of what to aim for (MSRP is irrelevant but dealers use that as their discount line every time..)

  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244

Correct.... it makes No sense to buy a 2013 model if dealers wont discount them acordingly. Majority of folks posting in this froum are buyig the 2014 model for 1500 plus below invoice.

Wandl, I would think for an EX in the DFW area you should get it close to $23,100.00 (includes destination and flex cash discount of $500.00).

Hi Brian, I sent you earlier "He quoted me $27492 with destination charges and flex cash as well as grad discount. What do you think? OTD comes to around $32,800 because of ridiculous tax rate of Arizona. Let me know if it is a good deal. Customary doc fees of 399, 527 for title and registration." But later internet sales guy emailed and said there are $800 worth of add-ons and he won't be able to adjust the price or remove the dealer add-ons. I made a different deal with nearby dealership. Can you please look at the numbers. Sale $30,432 Honda incentive $-1000 Taxes $2981.92 Document $149.50 Registration and title $18.50 Prep $389 Out the door is $32,970.92 Thanks, TJ.

    Tj,

If your sale price of 30,432 includes the dest/ charge this dealer is selling you the vehicle for 970 below invoice. If you minus dealers bogus 389 prep fee and dealers doc fee charge your actual cost from this dealer is about 430 below invoice price. I'm sure you could negotiate a few more dollars into this deal. Getting the 1000 in incentives is what dealer is hoping gets your business. Your would be Entitled to this at every dealer also .. Shoot for taken back this dealers 389 prep fee which is total nonesense.

Hello all, thinking about snagging an EX-L Nav if I can get a good deal. I have to assume there is some sort of dealer cash going on in the background for these dealers to be selling $1k+ under invoice? I'm not seeing anything published as far as incentives or flex cash so I'm just trying to understand the logic before working on a deal. My family owned a host of dealerships years ago so I'm pretty knowledgeable about the biz. I bought a '12 MDX for $4k under invoice a couple years ago so I know these deals exist. Thanks!

  • wandlwandl Member Posts: 40

sebring95 - I got quoted a EXL Nav for $26.8k yesterday inclusive of destination (before flex cash) use that as a starting line?

@rds9: Hi! It comes with the standard accessories and no additional ones... APR @ 3.9% considering low credit... I was quoted 12% APR previously... So i went with the above deal!

    Sebring95;

The only incentive that is not listed is.... Flex cash from Honda dealerships. Accords are netting = 500, and CRV's in some dealerships are recieving up to 750 flex cash. Any other incentives, hush money we do not know how much more dealers are recieving.

We do know some states are selling Accords between 1500 to almost 2000 below dealers invoice with flex cash on the 2014 models.

Dealers are giving out flex on a first come first serve basis. If your family was in the business you know the game . Expect to get close to 2k below on your models invoice.

Thanks to Brian for guidance on pricing, and Pacdecimal for dealership recommendations, did a 2014 EX-L (non Navi) for $25,327 + TTL. This did NOT include FLEX ($500). Autonation of Lewisville was a breeze, straightforward pricing; slightly more pressure in the finance department with warranties and such but nothing new....
Worked with a few other dealers but used 2013 Accords didn't make sense financially (difference was insignificant), 2 of the Honda dealers didn't respond till 48 hours later which didn't make sense since today is the end of the month.

Happy with the deal, happy with the car! Now to keep my eye out for the redesigned 2015 Pilot...

BTW a few Accord Hybrid's at this dealership, they would come off $1000-$1500 off MSRP due to the limited run (only 1,100 produced?) but the Accord Hybrid's are a sweet ride...

Looking to buy the Accord Sport asap (graduation present for son next week). Went in tonight to local dealership in NY and the best price I could get was..
    22,789
    Plus Doc fee 75.00
    Taxes 1851.00
    License and Fees 322.50
    Total OTD 25,038
There was no flex cash as I was planning on just paying for it. Did say if i financed there would be and additional $500 off.
Seems this is a little high from what I can tell. Thoughts..thanks

Wait til the 7th of this month any dealers recieving flex cash will have it by then. Ask all dealerships with flex what is the least amount you could finance thru them to get this incentive. Some dealerships may take as little as 10k , then pay off loan the first payment.

    HI Brian,
The dealership told me they got their allotment way back when its gone its gone. They still had $500 if I want to finance. They told me a min of 5000k and had to wait 4 months to pay it off. Which is not a big deal but I am building a new house and really did not want another credit pull.

Flex cash is awarded to dealerships on a month to month basis. Not all dealerships earn the flex cash incentive.. Dealer lied to you about paying off loan 4 months down the road. There is no such clause in that honda loan stating you have to keep it 4 months... I paid my 10k loan off 2 weeks later.

@brian...When then he lied about other things.. He told they got a lump sum of 48k and when it runs out it runs out. And told me I could not pay if off right away. Ill reach out to a few others and see what I turn up now.

First off, thank you Brian125. Your knowledge and comments on this forum saved me $1,500 easy, maybe 2k+! Again, thank you.

    In Northeast Ohio, I bought a 2014 Accord EXL V6 for 27,441 + Tax 2,212 + Doc fee of 250 = out the door = 29,903.

Before looking at this forum I was expecting/assumed that a "good" price would be $500 over invoice. Again thanks!

    Thank you.

If you could save just 500 dollars it may seem like nothing when adding up the loan numbers but its better off staying in your pocket helping your familys Financial situation then the dealers. 1500 dollars is a very nice savings good job on your part.. I always preach dealers will take as much from you as you let them. Dealers will lie, and twist the truth to decieve you. We can counter these dealers by using a few easy to do methods when buying or leasing.

Educated buyers that know pricing and there area's market selling prices will help them make the best possible deal. Knowing how and when to buy / negotiating skills, and using the internet to your advantage helps to find and make the best possible deal in your area..

Remember you are trying to get the best deal in your area and not get taken . Some area's will be able to buy same vehicle alot cheaper than yours. You want the best deal out of your targeted dealerships in your area. Thats your goal. Dont worry if your in Boston and folks in Chicago are getting another 1000 cheaper off the same vehicle. By you knowing you made the best possible deal in your area you could feel good about yourself and your deal.. If you want to drive to a boarding state to save a few dollars is your choice. What you need to figure out is................ how much savings, and time spent. Is it worth your travel time.

@brian125 I am looking at a 2014 Accord Sport. OTD from dealer is $22,976 +$99 doc fee. Spoke to the salesman today and they said flex cash was available to add on top of that to get me to $22,505 + tax, title, license. I had a second dealer that was trying to get a sale yesterday (end of month) that was at $22,899 including doc fee and flex cash. Both dealers are low balling me on trade value, I have a leased Accord that I am getting out of. I am in Omaha area.

I'm looking to buy an LX sedan w/manual immediately. I have a quote from a dealer pretty far away for $19,500 plus tax and title and flex if it becomes available (they couldn't tell me that today for some reason). My hometown dealer is quoting $19,900 plus tax and title, including flex (they say there is no more flex available but they are "holding" some for me). I'm in the southeast. Do these prices seem right or should I hold out for more?
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244

wartee you should hold out to the 6th or 7th of this month.. by that time dealers that are getting flex cash will have it to give out. your pricing from both dealerships are good.

Hello DFW 5…..can you share which Dallas Dealership you purchased from? I was in negotiations with McDavid Honda in Irving on an LX Sedan CVT….the internet mgr assured me the 19470 email price would be honored and their doc fee was 180…so I showed up an hour later and the Internet Mgr was gone. The on duty salesperson said that the 19470 was correct but that the cars had an extra 1900 dollars worth of accessories. The salesperson asked If I would pay 50% of the $1900 worth of dealer add on’s….I thought about it and said yeah…but the sales manager wanted me to agree to pay the entire 1900 extra…..When I was driving home they called me saying that they would split the 1900 but now they said this included them keeping my $500 in flex cash. Do any other members think this was a good price or more specifically have a dealer they'd recommend…..Any info most appreciated

Hey go try Autonation Honda in Lewisville they'll shoot you straight. McDavid gave me the run-around, Rusty Wallis is decent, Honda of Rockwall wasn't able to touch any of the prices with a 10 foot pole...
Do note Brian's post earlier since this is the first of the month, they're not "as motivated" to give great prices....maybe, depends on your negotiation skills.

    rscott016,

Invoice price / MSRP price, and Selling price are 3 seperate prices. Your goal is to find your models invoice price and work below that number.

Selling price is what dealer is agreeing to sell you this vehicle before any OTD prices are added on like....... Doc fee, Dmv fee's, and taxes. I know what your model's MSRP, and Invoice price are.

Find out what dealer is selling you this vehicle for , then ask if the destanation charge was included in this price? Otherwise there is no way i could breakdown your deal.

All I know right now is you owe 742 left on your lease vehicle after may and OTD pricing on your new model. Are you leasing again or going to buy????

Accord sport invoice price with destanation of 790 = 23,225

dfwbloke, I was offered $20,257 (everything included except taxes and registration) for a LX-CVT back in Feb, 28th. Your figure with 1/2 of Honda's added service package (tint, trim, wheel locks and so on) is at $20,600, difference of around $350. I don't think any dealer in Texas will sell a LX-CVT for (19,470+180) $19,650, unless it's a demo. I purchased mine at AutoNation of Lewisville, as they were very forward with my request and did not play the usual sales pitch. My second dealer choice (Rusty Wallace) had similar pricing too, but I didn't want to travel that far out. I wanted to purchase at either David McDavid of Frisco or Honda of Mckinney but my experience at both places were not positive.

I have emailed the dealer(s) to get a breakdown of the selling price, destination charge, doc fee, etc. If my assumption of correct, every dealer will charge the $790 destination fee? I will get you the selling price as soon as I have it. Thanks for your explanations and help!

I was able to get a new 2013 Ex-L out the door for 25, 650. There weren't many 2013s left. A few at planet honda in union NJ and a few at hondamanhattan in NYC. I'm not sure, but I would have probably been better off paying a little more for a 2014 at this point.

BTW the Accord is pretty nice but I'm a little disappointed with the CVT feel, the POOR sound system quality, and the leather. The leather and sound in the Ford Fusion is nicer. But the dam Fusion is a little too small in the back seats :(. The gas mileage is excellent and the ride isnt as harsh as on the 8th gen Accord. Pretty good car for city driving.

FYI (a little off topic) there is a setting in the developer menu where DSP can be set to FLAT - significant improvement in sound quality. See driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=158330

This is not only for the Touring model despite the title.
