Invoice price / MSRP price, and Selling price are 3 seperate prices. Your goal is to find your models invoice price and work below that number.
Selling price is what dealer is agreeing to sell you this vehicle before any OTD prices are added on like....... Doc fee, Dmv fee's, and taxes. I know what your model's MSRP, and Invoice price are.
Find out what dealer is selling you this vehicle for , then ask if the destanation charge was included in this price? Otherwise there is no way i could breakdown your deal.
All I know right now is you owe 742 left on your lease vehicle after may and OTD pricing on your new model. Are you leasing again or going to buy????
Accord sport invoice price with destanation of 790 = 23,225
O'Daniel selling price $22,800 includes destination fee. $99 doc fee additional. Superior selling price $22,976 includes destination fee. $99 doc fee additional.
Slightly off topic - but spent the first 3 hours of my car ownership back at the dealer, my 14 EX-L (non navi) touch screen radio was very sluggish, non responsive and even the steering wheel audio inputs were not responding.
It was intermittent, they found nothing wrong, slightly disheartening that this had to happen (not the dealer's fault). There are some other comments on the Accord's audio challenges, hope this doesn't pop up again...
I think I got a really good price on Sport CVT. Thanks all for advise and publishing your price. I shall do the same.

After having missed the opportunity to purchase the new accord towards the end April.......I'm thinking of waiting until the later part of May.....since late May is so close to the end of model year...wondering if it may be less expensive to wait for those sales.....or will prices be similar to what we're seeing now?
Start to collect all your dealer info and prices thru the next 2 weeks then start your price negotiations on the 3rd week holding out til the end of the month if target price is not obtained sooner. End of june is = End of the 2nd quarter for car companies.
End of model yr. production for the 2014 Accord is aug/sept.
Alright Here we go. Pulled the trigger on saturday. Finally bought the Accord Sport 2014 CVT $23,500 OTD at Autosport Honda. Also traded in my 1999 Infiniti which has pretty much all the dash lights lit and 176k miles for $500 so $23k OTD. It was a cash deal - didnt finance
I do want to take time to thank this forum and brian in particular for his advice in numerous occassion. I do want to highlight the whole journey hoping it will help others - especially NJ'ers who are still out there in the market.
My journey started earlier in Feb looking for a EX-L this was supposed to be a gift for my wife. so we started shopping, she wasnt severely amused by EX-L but fell in love with a loaded sport model - heated leather, carbon fiber roof and all. So I narrowed down my search just to Sport.
I did my due diligence and expanded my search into Maryland. Called and got quotes from around 15 dealers from NJ. Here are my .02. This is strictly my experience and might vary with everyone else's experience. The quotes varied from $20.6k vehicle price to $22k vehicle price(both before destination). The cheapest quote I got was from Garden State Honda(more on them below) to the expensive quote from Route 22 Honda. Didnt call Autosport because i had a gut feeling that I might end up buying from there.
In Maryland I called Criswell, Odonnell, Norris, Belair, Heritage. Best experience hands down has been from Belair, Criswell and Odonnell - in that order. Pricing was honest and no pressure to drag me down without a quote. Infact Belair gave me the best price including PO to back it up. Norris was middle of the road with $25k OTD and stuck to the price without budging a single penny.
I have to say that I thought I was very cautious with all the knowledge that I imparted from this forum but here are couple experiences i want to highlight in NJ.
Philipsburg Easton Honda: They gave me a quote of $21936 on the vehicle and $24.8k OTD. When I said I had a better quote, they said they will beat it if I bring it in writing and would also consider my trade. So I drove there only to be bitterly disappointed. They didnt even match their internet quote. There is a clear communication gap between the internet team and the sales guys - or they think the customers are fools. They definetely made one out of me. It would be really safe to say stay away from these guys. I know I will!
Garden State Honda - They were very persistent with me calling twice everyday, finally gave me a OTD pricing for $23.3k paying cash. So I drove in my 1999 car in the storm in the evening for couple hrs only to be told that the sales person made a mistake. I was so mad at them, the manager jacked up the price by $500 and an extra non-negotiable $200 for nitrogen and wheel locks. I know some folks had good experience with these folks but I am not sure about them. probably would never go to them as well.
DCH- Oldbridge: The sales guy gave me a pricing for $27.9k(yup you heard that right) with leather and roof. When called again after a week said its $28.5k. My brother had good experience with them but I am not so sure about these guys.
Others I considered but didnt pursue: VIP, Open Road(after hearing horror stories), Route 23, Paul Miller, Princeton etc. Mainly didnt pursue because their pricing wasnt even close and they didnt budge even on the phone.
I liked dealing with Clinton Honda because they were honest on the phone and via email and very helpful. Except for pricing I would have considered them for sure.
With the above experiences I was frustrated and almost thought of postponing buying the car. But mothers day coming closer I thought I will bit the bullet and go into the $24k OTD territory. Called Belair - really great folks, they backed up their quote with a straight up PO. I didnt even think twice and was preparing to drive to MD. But the wife wasnt feeling well and couldnt find anyone to drive me down there.
I did goto Autosport in between and got a price before April 30th for $23,545 which they increased to $24k citing loss of flex cash.
I felt bad ditching belair but I had no option but to ask Autosport if they can match their quote, they said Yes and I closed the deal. Autosport is way better than any other dealers hands down in NJ.
This is my 6th Honda(first in NJ), one thing these dealers forget is atleast the way I view buying car is its not a one time deal, its a relationship that you build with the customer. I am not saying they should throw away cars at a low cost, but they can be honest and upfront which will bring them back again and again. Instead they play these stupid low ball games which will make them lose customers like me for life. I am sure they wont feel a pinch but they lost me and my business.
The wife is happy and so am I. Totally recommend Autosport in NJ(I am not sure George is a real person though).Highly recommend Belair, Criswell and Odonnel in MD.
I know it was a long post but hope this helps. Thanks once again for this ride., definetely learnt a lot from this experience.
AccordNj, I went through the same trying process. The Honda dealers in the NYC metro area are real ball-busters. Honda must be in pretty good demand in the metro area bc these dealers certainly dont go out of their way to make a deal.
I was lied to my face on numerous occasions. I was quoted an out the door price by hondamanhattan. I asked them several times once Ii got there, "is this the out the door price bc I'm not spending a penny more." They smiled and said yes over and over. I handed them my credit card to make a deposit. The salesman comes solemnly walking back before letting me know there was some sort of mistake. The price jumped up by over $1000. I laughed and walked out the door.
Luckily I was prepared to be disappointed. I've been through the car buying process before. People that are unprepared, people that have a hard time sticking to their guns and saying no, they are the ones that get taken advantage of. Overall, the car buying process, especially in the NYC area, is no fun at all.
New york/ New jersey Honda dealerships are 2 very tough markets to buy a Accord. What I preach in here is no lie. Alot of the ABOVE MENTIONED DEALERSHIPS will lie right to your face. Quote you prices then change them or tell you they made a mistake. If your not willing to travel outside this area you either have to give in and pay there price or maybe you will get lucky and find a good deal out of the handful of good honest dealerships. Knowing how and when to buy and playing the game is the only way.
Today"s salesman are not trained to sell vehicles. Most are clueless in the art of the sale. Sales people think by holding you in these stores and lying to you its okay. New car buying is such a shady business. They deserve what they get always crying about getting nicked and dimed by the consumers.
All I could say is if your buying in NY/ NJ take these bad dealerships mentioned above that waste your valuable time with lie's, deception and make them the guinea pigs for your car info, prices, and test drives. Then when you buy your vehicle elsewhere you let them know why they did not earn your business.

Paul Miller and Hamilton. Both have stop selling vehicles like in the past. Adding accessories to alot of there vehicles/ playing to many games.. I cut both these dealers off.
Good post................................. accordnj ............ enjoy your wifes new ride
I am also in the NY/NJ area (Long Island). Looking to buy a car for my son, a student in Alabama. Would I be better off buying from an AL dealer, or deal with the lying immoral NY/NJ guys?
@accordnj. I am buying the Accord Sport for my son's graduation this week. The best OTD I could get in NY was 24,220. I was shooting for the 24K. I was just curious 1. did you get the flex cash with that price. 2. What is your tax rate since you did about 700.00 better then me.. Thanks..
@accord nj I did not want to fiance either but did so for the extra 500 and will just pay if right off. I did just get an eprice from that dealership and it was $21,145 with flex cash which is the same price I got from my local dealership. Thanks for the information. It might be worth it to pursue your dealership.
Here's the first offer I've received from an Atlanta Honda dealer for the 2014 Accord EX-L with Navigation. It's much higher than the deal another person here said they got last month for the same car from a dealer in Ellicott City, MD (which had a base price of $25,978 for the car itself and a drive-out price with all fees and a 6% tax rate of $28,365.08). Do Atlanta dealers not deal, or is this just not a good price?
Car price: $27,109
Destination: $790
Doc Fee: $599
TAVT (7%): $1,844.43
Tag/Title: $87
Lemon: $3
Splashguards/tray/nitro: $400 (not requested by me)
Total drive out: $30,832.43
I'm the other person you referred to. I would definitely shop around; different regions of the country are different, but that's a huge difference in price. At least in Maryland most dealers were willing to give prices via e-mail when requested from their website; you just have to make sure to be clear that you want the on-the-road price, and know it takes into account the $500 FLEX cash you can get by financing through Honda.
FYI - long time listener first time poster. Your posts were helpful and I'll post my full info when all is said and done. I have a question - does anyone have any thoughts on Zurich v. HondaCare warranty - assuming cost is the same? If you have a non-Honda warranty have yo used it at other non Honda repair shops with no issues? Let me know if a better forum has answers on this. Accord LX - NJ area.
Ok, a few more Atlanta area dealers have responded. Here's my best offer to date on a 2014 Accord Sedan EX-L with Navigation (MSRP $30,835):
Selling price: $26,791;
Dealer fee: $489;
Nitrogen in tires: $88;
Electronic title fee: $52;
Tax: $1,790.05;
Tag fee: $20;
Title fee: $18;
Lemon Law: $3;
Total drive out price: $29,370.05
I feel like I'm getting closer but that I should still be able to get it for less. Any thoughts?

That's without financing/$500 Flex cash? I would make absolutely sure.
Allez: That's without financing and the $500 Flex cash. I'll confirm. I'll be buying the car with cash (and don't want the hassle associated with taking out a loan and paying it off quickly). What do you think of this deal?
For starters, I'd tell them to keep the nitrogen Taking out a loan and paying it off is hardly a hassle. A couple extra signatures and send in a payment. The promotional .9% interest is probably not a bad option if you leave your money in the market. I've typically paid cash as well but anything under 2% I'll just keep my money working elsewhere. There are savings accounts paying more than .9% if you look around.
I have a new low price in Atlanta on my 2014 Accord EX-L with Navigation. I'm going to shop this one around to all of the other dealers in town, and if no one beats it, I think I'll be done.
Your internet quote puts you at 1410 below invoice price, after consideration of a 599 doc fee and a 450 added Accessorie package worth 160 dollars at best.
Here is a good list to call or visit if there not already on your list.
New Rochelle, Yonkers, Friendly, Atlantic. Huntington, Millenium, Baron, BayRidge Honda.
Honda of S.I............... I would call to see if they could beat bayridge honda's price. I would not make a special trip over the VZ bridge to go there. Both Bayridge and SI honda are hit or miss certain months.

It has been very helpful to read through everyone's posts and especially Brian's comments! I am looking to buy 2014 Honda Accord EX-L without Nav in July in the Greater Boston Area. Does anyone have recommendations for good dealerships in this area? I was planning to use quotes from truecar and Costco Auto buying program to shortlist dealerships besides emailing/calling most for their quotes.
Also, an idea about prevailing/expected prices in this area would be quite helpful.
You might want to check out Weymouth Honda's website. They have a good lease calculator and prices listed there. I'm picking up my EX-L (no nav) this weekend. Boch couldn't (or wouldn't) beat Weymouth's price, only match it and only for an in stock car.

Here is a list off dealers to work your best deal off.
Weymouth, Herb chambers, Bosch, Honda cars of Boston, Bernardi, Prime and Kelly.
If you catch one of these dealerships at the right time you may find deals Ranging from 1500 to almost 2k below dealers invoice with or without incentives.
Hi, I'm a new car buyer in NY metro area, looking for a Accord 2.4L EX-L with Nav.
I currently have an eprice of $26,045 fm NJ dealer excluding dest. / doc. / tax / title / reg.
Am reading this blog n hear lot of ugly facts about dealers, all across!
Good price for our area. I'm sure dealer added on the 500 flex cash to get you to 1434 below invoice price.. This is the norm in NJ. Subtract this dealers doc fee 299 to 399 and your at over 1k below........... post your deal after you purchase
1st time poster here. I am in the Washington DC area, looking to buy a 2014 EX-L 4 cylinder with no added stuff. I have gone to 3 dealers, and best quote I got is 25650, this is the price without tags tax and registration, but does include destination and dealer/processing/doc fees. How good is this price?
I learned in this thread that Ourisman and Pohanka have sold at attractive prices. I wonder if I should call them up and ask them if they can beat that number? Or should I stay with the current dealer and haggle a little more before letting others bid. Thanks a lot.
DC, VA, Md have been netting pricing between 1400 to 2000 hundred below invoice price. With or without incentives added to the deal.. That should be your target price range to buy.
Try.... Pohanka, Sport, O'donnell, and Criswell honda thats where you may make your best deal.
thank you. i did some quote bidding. and now have a 25000, a 24800, and a 23978, the last one seems less credible. i specified i want the price including all fees but before TTL. hopefully they won't play games with me when i go into a store.

thank you. but at 25k before TTL, it's not too bad right? i have a feeling things will get exponentially nasty as the haggling and bidding gets down to the last $500 or so.

Forgot............... Hendricks Honda in VA. Getting another 500 is in line with pricing in your area
I was helping a family member work out a deal on either Civic or Corolla in the same area, and in my experience I'd suggest the internet sales departments of Yonkers Honda (Richard Stein), DCH Kay Honda (Kayla Castro) and Clinton Honda (Joseph V).
It's really important to compare OTD (Out The Door) numbers including Dest, Doc, Tax, etc. because dealers sometimes lowball and later claim it was "before Dest" and in NJ in particular Doc Fees are all over the place.
Yonkers and DCH Kay gave me good upfront OTD pricing over email (I sometimes called them up over the phone too if I had questions)

IME, dealers in the 5 boros (across many brands) are more miss than hit.
Maybe they just feel they have all these captive buyers who value time/convenience way too much and would never think to take a train out to suburbia for a better deal.

Especially Honda. The educated buyer who does his homework will make a better deal. Its like pulling teeth in this area NY, NJ. just to get a straight/ honest answer out of alot of these dealerhips.. Our area is full of folks who just pay what the dealer says is a good deal. So when folks like us try not to get ripped off we get treated like dirt. I also have no problem traveling to save money. They are all selling the same product.

Yes. I've tried that and it does help. But you have to do that every time you start your car. It's not especially difficult but still annoying.
Just bought a 2014 LX Sedan with 6-speed MT. Paid $19,470 including $500 flex plus TTL. Including $6500 cash down, total OTD was $13,700.

@accordnj Last month when I did contact Autosport Honda ..they said they wouldn't match any out of state dealer quotes.
@amigo maybe they matched mine because I actually showed them the purchase order vs quote? i am not sure
@accordnj Yes,that might be the case.. With AutoSport Honda.. did u finalize the price via Email/Phone or in Person ?
phone confirmed with email
Selling price: $26,791;
Dealer fee: $489;
Nitrogen in tires: $88;
Electronic title fee: $52;
Tax: $1,790.05;
Tag fee: $20;
Title fee: $18;
Lemon Law: $3;
Small potatoes, but why an electronic title fee and another title fee?
Any thoughts?
For starters, I'd tell them to keep the nitrogen
Taking out a loan and paying it off is hardly a hassle.
Internet Price $25189
Destination 790
Doc Fee 599
TAVT 1844
Tag/Title 87
Lemon Law 3
Dealer Added Options 450
(Splashguards/cargo tray/
Nitrogen)
Total Drive Out $28962
I think that's a very good price - I'd go for it.
hondaga
Your internet quote puts you at 1410 below invoice price, after consideration of a 599 doc fee and a 450 added Accessorie package worth 160 dollars at best.
Online splash guards are........... 65 dollars
Cargo tray is ..............................90
Still not a bad Deal

Looking to finance a Honda Accord V-6 EX-L in the NYC Metro Area. Does anyone have any good dealer recommendations out here?

Thanks!
You might want to check out Weymouth Honda's website. They have a good lease calculator and prices listed there. I'm picking up my EX-L (no nav) this weekend. Boch couldn't (or wouldn't) beat Weymouth's price, only match it and only for an in stock car.
Thanks Brian! I'll start with this list and let you guys know the results.
@budsbrother : Thanks for the pointer. Weymouth's intenet sales price of 24961 for EX-L looks really good. I will definitely keep them in mind.

@brian125 : Thanks! Will post once I finalize a purchase.
Hi, I'm a new car buyer in NY metro area, looking for a Accord 2.4L EX-L with Nav.
I currently have an eprice of $26,045 fm NJ dealer excluding dest. / doc. / tax / title / reg.
Am reading this blog n hear lot of ugly facts about dealers, all across!
humtum,
Good price for our area.

Hey guys! I just bought a 2014 Honda Accord Touring.
Paid $ 31,900 OTD
$ 29,591 for the car (includes $500 flex cash)
$ 1909 CT Sales tax
$ 125 Registration
$ 275 Doc Fee (Reduced from $500)
Total $ 31,900 OTD
I was wondering if that was a good price. I know if its not, I can't do anything about it now, but I just like to know for next time. Thanks!
llie,
Forum members in:
DC, VA, Md have been netting pricing between 1400 to 2000 hundred below invoice price. With or without incentives added to the deal.. That should be your target price range to buy.
Try.... Pohanka, Sport, O'donnell, and Criswell honda thats where you may make your best deal.

thank you. i did some quote bidding. and now have a 25000, a 24800, and a 23978, the last one seems less credible. i specified i want the price including all fees but before TTL. hopefully they won't play games with me when i go into a store.
Forgot............... Hendricks Honda in VA. Getting another 500 is in line with pricing in your area
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
thank you. but at 25k before TTL, it's not too bad right? i have a feeling things will get exponentially nasty as the haggling and bidding gets down to the last $500 or so.
1985mb,
You are correct.
