I've been looking at Tiguans recently, and a nearby dealership posted for a manual Tiguan listed at 23,860 out the door for 169+tax/month with 799 due at signing. The fine print states the "dealer retains all incentives" so lease cash won't apply.

*This would be my first lease.

If they are advertising a really low price, you can assume it's with the lowest mileage allowance (10K/yr). A manual transmission model has to be a FWD S, as that's the only configuration equipped with a stick shift. .00009 MF and 57% residual with $1750 lease cash. Assuming 36mo, 10K/yr.

If it's truly $800 due at signing and $170/mo.+tax, and you can live with 10K/yr, it's probably a good deal. Ask them for their numbers, and see if they match up with the above. Find out the MSRP and the net CAP cost, as well.

2013 Tiguan SE AWD w/ roo & navi leasee here... I know i'm about a year late, but thought my numbers may help for some. Deal was made back in August 2013 in NY/NJ area.

$3K down at sign, $314/month (first month paid for), 12K miles/year for 3 years. MSRP was a little over $34K.

I have recently leased an SEL and an R-Line. The numbers that kyfdx@edmunds are accurate. Combined with the Spring season sales, I ended up with putting up nothing up front. SEL monthly: $435, R-Line $465.

Do you mention it after yo have a deal of sales price. I just would like to know how would I get a better deal since they normally don't mention cash-back in the beginning.

$1750 lease cash available.

Try to negotiate the best possible selling price, then ask about subtracting the lease cash from that amount. Most dealers will probably either neglect to mention it (it is factory to dealer, after all), or assume that the dealers best price already includes the lease cash.

You want the best price before the lease cash is applied. Invoice is a good place to start.

Using your numbers (55% residual) I get a pre-tax payment of $253.34 for 36 months.

I concur with the MF and residual ... there is also lease cash in the amount of $1500 available, which I suspect is already built into the cap cost.

I, too, am interested in what the $2999 is used for .... if any of it is to de-cap the lease, then the payment I quoted above would be lower.

around 1400 goes to fees---tax title lic reg first month payment acquisition fee etc.

The rest goes to cap cost reduction that helps lower payment.

I have payment with excellent A plus credit @282 a month

can you let me know if it's a good deal and what if I am not a credit A plus? does it mean more payment per month or more money down. I almost don't have a credit history

So approximately $1600 to reduce the cap cost - over 36 months this amounts to $44/mo. If you choose not to make the down payment your new payment would be 282+44=326. It is not a good idea to put money down to reduce the cap cost; if the car is stolen or totaled, you will lose that money.

If you do not have A+ credit then the MF is increased, which will also increase your payment.

3 year, 10k miles per year lease. (or 39 or 27M - sometimes the factory offers better for those terms)
Tier 1 credit rating - and I can make multiple security deposits to lower the MF if necessary.

SEL has a 1% better residual than R-Line - 54% vs 53% for 36mo/10K miles per year.

I don't believe VW offers an MSD program, as the base MFs are so low to begin with.

I just turned in my 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan SL. It was a 3-year, 60K mile lease for $300/month. Just wanted to let anyone deciding between Volkswagen and another brand know that I recommend comparing turn-in procedures (I did not!). Volkswagen was by far the costliest turn-in I've experienced out of Honda, BMW, Subaru and Toyota. They charged me for missing one of two drivers manuals, any scratches over two inches, and a $350 "turn-in fee" unless you lease a second Volkswagen, which $500+ of charges did not make me want to do.

I believe MSRP is $34950. They say their "selling price" is $35490, cap cost is $31920. This is in Wisconsin. Correction: they set MF at .00117, which again I think is incorrect based on other posts. They haven't responded with the worksheet yet. THanks!

.00117 is correct for terms longer than 36 months.. What is the term and mileage allowance?

Not sure how your selling price can be more than MSRP, though... Especially with the $750 lease cash on this model. That MSRP looks awfully low for an SEL

Well, they haven't sent me the full worksheet yet. That was the original selling price, then they knocked it down to $32930 "before incentives." But again, I haven't seen the full breakdown. terms are 3yrs-10k/yr, 2yr carefree maintenance, $443/mo with $0 down.

MSRP: $35,490

Selling Price: $29,839

Dealer fee: $179

Sales Tax: $1,646

County Tax: $5

Tag Fee: $75

Title and document handling fee: $99

Total Purchase Price: $31,842

Gross Capitalized Cost: $32,179

Capitalized Cost Reduction (turbo rebate): $1,000

Dealer Acquisition Fee: $625

Net Capitalized Cost: $31,804

$443/mo 36mo-10k/yr, $0 down. MF .00117, residual: 53%

Okay.. .that's pretty good info...

How do they get from Total Purchase Price of $31,842 to Gross CAP cost of $32,179. I couldn't see that $337 accounted for anywhere? But, lets leave that alone, for now.

Using that MSRP and Net Cap Cost, .00117 MF and 53% residual for 36 months, I get a payment of $420/mo.. $23/mo. less than what they quoted.

Also, the .00117 money factor? That is the money factor for 37-48 month term leases. The base MF for 36 month leases is .00030. That is a huge difference... Using the base money factor would change my calculation from $420/mo. to $376/mo.!!

On the other hand, the selling price looks extremely cheap... so.. there is that.

Can't speak to Truecar, but you can use the pricing tools at the top of the page to see what Edmunds' has to say on the topic. It should also detail any available incentives.

Seems better than the numbers I'm calculating ... I get $255.24 before tax, and $280.76 after applying the 10% (!!!) sales tax.

SE: .00041 and 57% for 36/12; 64% for 24/12

Base MF of .00052 is being used, and 55% is the residual for 36 months and 10,000 miles per year.

We don't recommend putting money down on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you are out that money. How much of the $6K is going to cap cost reduction?

If I didn't put any money down I think the monthly payment would be about $475. The payment goes up about $30 a month for each $1,000 I don't put down.

Actually, it's the same thing ... reducing the cap cost is the same as reducing the monthly payment, as it decreases the difference between the cap cost and the residual amount, which is the main factor in calculating a lease payment.

Use the shopping tools at the top of the page to help determine your target selling price, as well as all available incentives.

And you're right, it's about $28/mo for every $1000 on a 36 month lease.
