Frankly, while not my cup of tea, I liked the Lincolns I test drove a couple of weeks ago. If it had a little more "oomph" and the dealership hadn't been so lackdaisical, I would have considered their vehicles more seriously.
Point being, this series of cars from these manufacturers are being very hotly contested. Whether it's the E, the 5 Series, the CTS, or any of the others, your brand better be on top of their game. If not, the dealership right down the street will bend over backwards to put you in the seat of their lux vehicle.
As I get a bit more seat time in mine, I'm really impressed with the magnetic ride control. It offers great handling while making it impossible to upset the chassis or making me uncomfortable. It rotates very well around turns without protest. You can't upset it, even speeding around a turn with bad pavement. It keeps the tires on the road. Impressive.
I'm using voice commands more now than in any other voice command system in any of the other cars I've owned. I think that speaks (pun intended) to the accuracy of the system.
Still unsure about all the little safety nannies. I was driving today and granted, I was probably tail gating more than I should have been, but red lights show up as a reflection on my windshield and the brakes were applied. Eeery. I think I'm shutting that feature off. I do like the proximity sensors though. Makes pulling into parking spaces really easy.
Is the distance (sensitivity) adjustable on yours for the emergency stopping? On my '14 Malibu it's adjustable, but it just does the alarm and "prepares" the brakes for emergency stopping--I don't think it actually applies the brakes.

I have a lot to learn. Voice commands for telephone, GPS, audi etc. You can do any manoeuvre 3 different ways...dash, voice, steering wheel. Same, lots of warnings if you are close to something, even though I know I am going to miss it. Makes you hesitate in case the car knows you are going to hit something you missed.
That's part of the joy of getting a new car...all the surprises!

@NYC, Sorry, but can't help you with those car payments. After paying off my note, the next thing I did was put a couple hundred more per check in my 401K. Going to put some money in the Explorer to hopefully get it through the winter. Will start looking an February. A Subi is on my list, a Crosstrek. Also, have my eyes on a couple of F-150's. Fair chance the one's I'm interested in will still be on the lot in a few months.
Don't worry, you still have me to buy old hoopties and junkers.

Looks like I haven't been keeping up. By the time I congratulated you on your purchase GG had already bought his own.
On the Eclipse I was considering getting a buy bid from the dealer where I bought it. Unknown to me a friend at work who moonlights as a detailer for this store mentioned my car to the owner.
Bottom line $9,000 sight unseen. Tempting.
Also, this may just be me getting jealous of all you rich guys and your sweet cars but today on my many bus runs I noticed a bunch of late model Hondas and Audis busted down on the side of the road.
The Audi caused such a traffic jam that I got an extra hour of overtime. :@

That sounds like a starting point....should go higher when he sees it. They can't go too high, sight unseen.
Audi was the only European car company to be in the top 10 on the latest CR reliability test. Honda usually does well....must be a problem just in your area. Or it could mean those cars have higher sales in your area. At least you didn't see any Mustangs.

I've been looking for as much information I can get before my 5 years is up, and personal accounts are very important to me.
Also, there are exercises to strengthen the muscles in advance of the surgery. They are in a booklet the hospital gives out with the prep class for hip and knee replacements. Wife recommends those greatly. She did them for months before both surgeries.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I am unnerved by the picture of cutting away the knee from the femur and tibia, leaving
a leg that's useless and then putting in the metal replacement which works perfectly
from the recovery room on. Perfect except for the muscle's reactions that may tighten
up later as the muscles react to the irritation. If only they could replace
a few other parts that wear out.

Might want to see what a Ford dealer would do, though probably too early for a 2015 Stang. Unless you want to save a bundle and get a 14!
Probably not doing better private than mid 9's anyway. At least it would be gone, no need to deal with the flakes, and cash in pocket.

I have been reading "Killing Patton" while waiting at the hospital. I was able to figure out exactly where my brother was killed on a hill that was part of the Battle of the Bulge. The story of poor planning by the generals for his new green group of soldiers matches what one of few survivors from his group told my parents in the early 50s when he went to as many homes of his dead buddies that he could find.
It's a very interesting book.

He picked up his Thompson machine gun and half a dozen grenades and singlehandedly took out the two machine gun nests and returned to his unit and pulled wounded survivors from the tents and carried two of them to safety and medics while being wounded by shrapnel in his arm and hand.
He also received a battlefield commission to 1st Lt. It was because of men like him that they survived the German onslaught thanks to Patton's ability to move his Army to stave off the German offensive.
It's one of the few memories Dad retains because it was so traumatic to him.
He was responsible for encoding and decoding top secret communications between the various commands during the Battle of The Bulge.
Later on, he was put in charge of de-natzification under Patton's command immediately following the end of the war. He was also responsible for building officers clubs in France, Germany and Italy.
He was a busy soldier. He spent time in Belgium with the underground, France, England, Germany and Italy. I am very proud of his bravery and his service to the United States.

My phone numbers and names on my iPhone downloaded after I paired it. So, I hit the "talk" button and say..."dial Home"....and it confirms that I want to dial home and then dials it.
For music....I have an old iPod that I have had for a long time. I plugged it into the USB under the hidden space behind the HVAC door. I don't even use the dash interface. I'll say something like "play Rolling Stones" and it will play all the Stones songs I have on the iPod. Or, I'll say "play Podcast Planet Money" (an NPR radio show), and it will play the podcast.
NAV is easy....I push the voice button and say "Navigation". It responds with "What type of Navigation, POI, Address, (etc)?" Or, you can also say "change state" if you're not in your home state.
I usually just say an address, like "1000 Main St, Anywhere, Ohio". It will repeat the address and ask if you want to confirm the address. So far, it's been 100% accurate. I've tried it for POI like "nearest Fuel" and it found all the nearest gas stations around where I was traveling.
Another irritant though, it will "bong" and come with a warning on the CUE screen stating there's a "Weather Warning". It would be helpful if it were telling me there was a tornado in front of me. But, so far, all it has said is there might be frost. I have to figure how to turn that off.
I usually don't use the paddle shifters I had in other cars. These are nice to the touch, though (magnesium?), They'll snap off some shifts quickly, too. I really like this turbo motor. It has some good grunt.
Just noticed the automatic bright light on/off feature. Not sure if it's a hinderance or a help. As you know, the LED light blades and headlamps do a really good job.. Having the brights turn on, then back to regular lighting, without knowing when, in some ways is an irritant. In other ways, it's good where there are low traffic areas at night with little in the way of road lighting.
Sort of looking forward to having a heated steering wheel.
I agree with RB about Bose...not so good in the home, but not bad in vehicles. While not as good as the ELS in my TL, it surprisingly exceeded the sound I had with the HK in the BMW and the B&O system in the Audi.
Paint job is exemplary. If there's any "orange peel" effect, I can't see it. And at least on mine, the dark grey metallic takes on different hues depending on light conditions, anywhere from grey, to bluish grey, to black. Well done.
Just a bunch of tech....some useful, some not so much. At the end of the day, it's about the drive. Cadillac should pat themselves on the back. Nice job on both the ATS and the CTS.
For the record, I get just as much satisfaction reading about your car conquests as any on here. I happen to like your....er......umm....eclectic tastes in automotive transport.

and away we go.
Ford has a couple of neat ones. When the Bong sounds you can say "I'm Hungry" and it will come up with restaurant types nearby. See if CUE does that.

One thing he does remember was his Belgian girlfriend he met during the war and the long relationship he had with her. She was a member of the Belgian underground. He still has vivid memories of her. She must have been really something else if he still remembers that affair. Viva lamour!

My dad worked for Packard when he was drafted (with two infants at home!). He was sent to the China-Burma war. Talk about a stinking (and forgotten) war. He kinda went nuts in the jungle (malaria, etc) so the Army figured he needed a rest and sent him over the Himalayas (flying the Hump they called it)---LOL!. He spent the rest of the war in China teaching them how decode messages. He came home and returned to Packard until it went belly up in 1956. He lived to a ripe old age. Man, there was nothing he didn't know about automobiles!
did not have to go into the service. He was exempt because he was farming.
But he went out of a sense of patriotism, as rare concept for US folks these days.

Mercedes has really made no effort to expedite the building of my new car and I am not going to wait until Christmas for my new car. So I decided to end my relationship with Mercedes Benz.
After reviewing this fiasco, Mercedes did absolutely nothing for me to make me happy. So I am going to look around for a BMW 5 series or an Audi, possibly even a CADILLAC. But I am DONE with Mercedes!!!

Hoping for the best for your son along with a prayer. It's out of your hands and perhaps God will provide a much needed cure.
How are they managing that? I wonder.

I sat in the front passenger seat and set at at the most forward position that is still comfortable for me. Even at that it is a bit awkward to get out of the front. Then with that set, I got in the back seat on the passenger side. I fit, but barely. That rear compartment is really tight. A smaller person might find it OK I suppose. But on the drivers side, behind my seat, forget it unless you're a little kid.
Ordered a trunk cargo net. GM makes them optional now. No bag hooks in the trunk either, and no place I can see to fit them. As a reminder of days gone by, found a trunk liner fastener, one of those black plastic buttons with the splined/serrated shaft coming out of it, laying loose at the front of the trunk. Couldn't see any missing, so it must have been left over from whomever installed the trunk lining on the assembly line. That must be a miserable job to have on the line since you have to virtually get into the trunk to reach the bulkhead.

I got another call from them confirming that my new E400 will be at the dealership before my insurance expires on November 26th. How they are going to manage that is beyond my comprehension, unless they are air-shipping it over.
If they produce the car by Monday, and then immediately ship it out on a ship, it could be here in time. There is no other way I can fathom how they could manage getting it here so quickly. It normally takes 4 weeks from date of manufacture to date of arrival at port if expedited. I wonder what they are doing to get it here so fast?

so if boat leaves say 11/5, arrives at port 11/17, they have a week to get it unloaded and sent to the dealer. I think you said they come into port in Jacksonville, so could easily have down to you in a day.
doable assuming they are building it as we type, and that they have a ship going out next week to put it on.

At this point, they do not know how to solve the problem of my insurance being cancelled at the end of the 30 day grace period. They are obviously not going to solve that problem for me.
So, back to square 1. I can't imagine how Mercedes expects a customer to be loyal to them after the way I have been treated!
I ho go back to my original statement, "...what has Mercedes done to satisfy my issues with them?" They accepted an order for a replacement car that won't arrive at my dealership until Christmas - or 7 weeks from now. Once my insurance is terminated, I cannot drive a car.
They are totally unapathetic to my situation. THEY JUST DON'T CARE!
What is left for me to do?
