BMW platform codes changed from E to F because BMW didn't want three digit numbers. Complicating that was the decision to assign each body style a number. For example, with the E46 3er, the coupe, sedan, convertible, wagon, and M3 were all known as E46. Nowadays each body style and M variant gets its own number- so the F numbers were used up pretty quick. Also note that the codes are also applied to prototypes that never see the light of day.

Be careful out there! Every day driving in the Seattle area makes me not want to be on 2 wheels outside of a track or other controlled environment. So many idiots, both in skill and attention, and so little enforcement of anything more than speed.
Yes, but that has nothing to do with it. Very few manufacturers actually make microwaves. I remember noticing when I was shopping for it that despite the brand, many brands shared some very similar features, controls, and design notes. It was obvious they came from the same source.

I have just recently developed a sort of a hankering for the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST. In the copper orange base model with the 6-speed stick. Would run just north of $22,000 plus T&L. I just wonder if the Mrs. and I would be smashing elbows into each other in that cabin.
This one is probably not the base model because it has fog lights - wouldn't want ta throw in fog lights without additional cash charged, would we?
Why buy an extra cost package just to get fog lights? A friend's wife got a base Eclipse GS (no fog lights) and bought and installed his own. All the wiring was already there so he just plugged it in and hooked up a switch.

@driver100, Just make a little 'cheat sheet' and keep in net to your monitor.
Do you mean all those names like W114..............I have enough junk around and things to remember without knowing all the factory model numbers. Think about it explorer, 100 years ago you just had to remember to get up, go out and plow a field - then come home at 6 for dinner and go to bed at 10. Now we have home phone number as well as cell, business, Florida number, wife's cell, about 6 PIN numbers, license plate numbers, friends phone numbers, then car names, streets and addresses, number of people, I probably know 200 people through tennis and pickleball, maybe another 50 relatives and 50 friends. Then I have to remember radio stations, TV stations, movie names, TV and movie stars, names of movies.....etc. My head is spinning thinking about it all.

I think, though my head is crammed with names and numbers so I may be wrong....that Fiesta was rated extremely unreliable on the CR reliability tests......if that is important to you. It does look good in Clementine orange though.
Ugh... don't ignore a cough. I had been coughing for almost a month. Just a cough, but no other symptoms and I felt fine. I guess finally it caught up to me, because Thursday morning I felt like my head was gonna explode, trouble breathing and my ears were clogged and killing me. Went to the doc ... double ear infection, sinus infection and Bronchitis. Go me.
Minor stuff compared to what many of you have gone through, but probably could have been avoided if I went to the doc sooner.
I ignored a persistent cough for a while about 10 years ago. Ended up needing chemo for that. I get things checked early now.
I know been down the big C road already.... I should know better
Please don't use those names like W.1.1.2. to describe a car, I have enough trouble with something like Q50.
Just drove about 120 miles each way to Ellicottville NY and the W213 handles beautifully, almost feels like it can drive itself. Got 27 mpg (US Gal) with about 80% highway driving. It is on a long drive that I really appreciate it, the seats are very comfortable, power, smoothness, great handling and steering are magnificent. I love it....really starting to like the looks too....I am beginning to think it even looks better than the W212 (I assume), last model.

Nice bike, is that a football helmet I see on the handlebar? Too bad it is not an Indian bike as I hear they have made a big comeback to the detriment of Harley Davidson, whose sales are tanking.
That's what gets to me. Highways don't scare me too much (unless on a ~250 that can barely go 60), the city streets here are Russian roulette. So many texters and yappers, people eating, lost tourists, drivers new to the western world, and worse.

Yes, China is a huge auto market but I didn't realize it was that big.
For 2017, year-to-date sales, January through June, sales reached 13.354 million units, a 3.8% year over year rise, although slowing down, that is huge.
For all of 2016 sales peaked at 28.03 million vehicles, up 13.7%, with 1/3 representing SUV sales. Don't know which is the most popular brand in China but Volkswagen seems to have a large market share.
< 100 years ago you just had to remember to get up, go out and plow a field - then come home at 6 for dinner and go to bed at 10.
Actually you didn't have to remember to come home for dinner because at noon your stay-at-home wife range the dinner bell and called you to come in from the field for dinner. Then you went back out and worked until 6 pm at which time the sun lower in the sky sent you to your home for supper, at around 6 pm. That's if you didn't have to milk the cows. The cows made their way to the barn for milking based on the time from the buildup of milk in their udders, not on the sun or the dinner bell.

Just turned 8000 miles on the 740i and it runs, handles and accelerates even better than the day I bought it. Usually by this time into a new car ownership (8000+ miles) I start to become antsy - an emotion usually takes hold of my checkbook and wallet and I begin to research and drive new cars hoping to finally sit in my next car. Then another emotion or urge takes hold of me and I go into "consumer purchasing mode' by setting out to get the best deal on a car I've fallen in love with.
Yes - I get the urge to "divorce" my current car in order to "marry" a younger and even more beautiful set of wheels. But, not this time. I am still in love with my 740i and the "prenuptial agreement" I have with Bank of America (my auto loan) is sufficient to keep my nose out of new car research (except for car enthusiast purposes). I have become a "monogamous" car owner - I "look" but I've stopped "touching"!
Good grief - am I dying? They need to come up with a "viagra" pill for older car enthusiasts to rejuvenate the car buying urges. God help me if the pharmaceutical companies don't come up with a fix for this car "melancholia"! HELP! HELP! HELP!

No need for viagra, conversion therapy works great. As a petroholic, you may want to clear your conscience and use the pretext of saving the environment by buying an all electric vehicle. A BMW i8 or Tesla Model S comes to mind. With gull wings, the i8 is easy to get in and out.

I have no way of charging an electric vehicle. So it's gasoline or diesel - and I hate diesel because they pollute worse than gasoline powered vehicles.

I like that truck. But thought they came with the v8. Must only be the Shelby version, which was not a convertible. Too bad not a stick, but an AT is probably better suited here.

No, that's a vintage-style helmet. There's really no need for a full front visor on a vintage bike. I werar either wrap-arounds or goggles. I mean, one HAS to look the part. This is 1966 after all.

Yes, indeed, a very good motorcycle. Honda was making an assault on the world motorcycle market in the 1960s and the British were simply not paying attention, since they had a lock on imported "big bikes" in America.
Then Honda came out with the CB 750/4 cylinder, and the Brits just rolled over and died, and Harley suddenly looked like what it was---1930s tech. Fortunately for Harley, when your customers took the time to have your company name tattooed on their foreheads, this indicated strong brand loyalty regardless.
I have no idea how to price something like that. You just have to troll and hope to snag a fish that wants to make 60 monthly payments and doesn't care what the price is. Gut feeling is that it's priced about twice what it should be. You could buy a much more modern and reliable 4X4 for that money.
Great looking truck. I don't know if I would want to mess with this guy, " Serious inquiries only.....do not waste my time with any lowball offers. Any lowball offers will be ignored." I think saying it once we kind of get the idea.

Hopelessly overpriced and yeah, seller sounds frightening. I just thought the concept of a convertible pick up was something unique. Wonder how you would even do that without compromising the structural rigidity.

This seller sounds like the typical Mr. Tough Guy that thinks his approach will work, when in fact, will probably cave to the first reasonable offer made.
I guess we can prove this by having @oldfarmer50 make an offer of $9,900. I'm betting that the seller will try to bump him up to 10 grand even and he'll throw in the airfare for @oldfarmer50 to "come and get it".

What's off-putting is that the seller has already claimed the sovereign right to know the actual value--so no matter what your expertise or experience, if you offer less then YOU are a 'low-ball" but he cannot possibly be overpriced.
Abacomike, the BMW i8 is a plugin hybrid, so not all electric (~15 miles of electric range. Would work for my commute...). And, not gullwing, but "scissor" type doors (perhaps there's another name escaping my slower by the day brain), definitely not easy ingress/egress. Actually, you don't egress as much as "fall out" of the car to avoid bumping your head on the doors!
I played with one a few weeks ago at the local F-M dealer. It sold the day I looked at it, was a bit aggressively priced. I remained intrigued, but luckily will probably be just a lookyloo for a while.

At only a 15 mi charge you'd be charging every day. Not worth the hassle to me.
What hassle? The iPerformance PHEVs charge in around seven hours on 110v, three hours on 220v. It takes all of maybe five seconds to plug it in or un plug it. With a 330e you get 0-60 times in the mid five second range and fuel economy of 50 mpg or more depending on your driving conditions.

I don't think the i8 would be an everyday car for most, but it can regen the batteries without plugging in. I believe in "Sport" mode or something as such. Not much storage, tiny back seat, semi-contortionist in/out routine, but sounds like a blast to drive!
No doubt Mr. Roadburner could expound.
I just like off-the-beaten-path type cars. With warranties, of course...

I still don't think it will work for Mike...HE CAN'T PLUG IT IN! I also read those gull wing doors are not working very well....very complex, just what Mike doesn't need in his life right now, car doors that get stuck.
No, it wouldn't work for Mike. Just rambling, musing... I couldn't plug it in at home, either. But, free juice at work. Itching for a midlife crisis car, again; something practically impractical.

How about this one on Kijiji........CL of Canada. 50000 kms which is 30K miles. $9500 Cdn or about $7000 USD Dodge Dakota Convertible. Excellent condition. New tires and rims. All options with air conditioning.
This one is a bit new for the pages of Barn Finds, but it’s so unusual and inexpensive that I couldn’t pass it up. This is a 1989 Dodge Dakota Convertible and it’s on Craigslist with an asking price of $900! And, no, the top hasn’t been left down, it was lowered to take the photos, so no worries, there aren’t any leaves inside. Or, I don’t think there are, there are no interior photos! It’s in Eatonton, Georgia, about 80 miles southeast of Atlanta. The Dakota Convertible was made in 1989 and 1990 but some sources say that ASC (American Sunroof Co.) also made 8 of them in 1991. NADA lists the “low retail value” as being $2,125 and the “average value” being $3,925.
Does anyone remember the Honda 305 Scramblers that came out around 1967? They were a nice little bike with plenty of pep and a great sound for not a whole lot of money as I recall. Another friend bought a Honda 160 Scrambler and it was a nice little bike too!
When I was very young I longed for a Cushman Eagle. Alas Honda killed them with the nifty little Honda 50's that were styled like a real motorcycle! All that for just over 400.00 if I'm remembering right.

Once our poster buddy gets it home, he'll have enough time to have fun with it before giving it a good waxing so that he won't be afraid to take it out in the northern NY winter weather.
Worth a try, right?

It's very arrogant.
I played with one a few weeks ago at the local F-M dealer. It sold the day I looked at it, was a bit aggressively priced. I remained intrigued, but luckily will probably be just a lookyloo for a while.

No doubt Mr. Roadburner could expound.
I just like off-the-beaten-path type cars. With warranties, of course...

Be careful....we need you here!

When I was very young I longed for a Cushman Eagle. Alas Honda killed them with the nifty little Honda 50's that were styled like a real motorcycle! All that for just over 400.00 if I'm remembering right.
