Gotta ask. Is that a misspelling on the middle trophy? Did they mean A Sight for Sore Eyes? Or are they trying to be punny?
The choices of wrong words in many auto-related articles amazes me. I drove a 2017 E300 before I bought my BMW last fall. Lower RPM torque was quite good, but once over 2500-3000 RPM, it was quite hesitant and unremarkable.
You are correct - very little acceleration upon flooring the accelerator at speeds over 50 mph. That car needs a twin turbo or a 6 cylinder turbo. I heard Mercedes is coming out with an inline 6 Turbo similar to BMW. The power and performance out of my inline 6 Turbo is outstanding and much quieter than a V6.
The more I study it the more I dig this beautiful Subaru Impreza base 5-speed selling for $18,395. For the amount of car you get it's a good deal. Subaru's hold their value right up there with the best. This is a picture of the silver one selling for this price in Vancouver, WA. 2018 Subaru Impreza sedan base 5-speed

I imagine that WA is a lot like CO - Subarus will hold their value extremely well.
If we keep up our current pace, our 2015 Outback will have about 55,000 miles on it when the loan is paid off.

The BMW B48 I4 and B58 I6 develop maximum torque from around 1,500-4,800 rpm. While I prefer the six cylinder the four is no slouch. I don't think V6s are horrible motors, but I find the inline configuration to be superior

I gotta say something. Really I just gotta. I'd feel terrible if I let a poster buddy buy a Silver Subie, without a warning, unless you get one with the antenna option so that you can put a tennis ball on it. That is the only way you'll find it in a parking lot.
Believe me.

'15 Genesis V8 with Ultimate Package and '18 Legacy Limited 6 cyl
Just got back from a visit to Yellowstone in the Forester (bought new back in Feb), so had an opportunity to evaluate the vehicle on the highway -- it spends most of its life being a grocery-getter.
Overall, no issues. Fuel economy was quite good, but not so good as the readout implied. Calculated from fill amount and miles generally gave values ~6% lower than the readout -- similar to my TSX. Anyone who believes the car's readout needs help, and they are legion.
Had plenty of room for our stuff, and used exactly zero oil. The 5 mph jumps in the cruise control setup took some getting used to, but it worked well otherwise.
There was a weird clicking sound from the dash that occurred on an intermittent basis. Couldn't figure out what it was, but it only happened once in awhile and went away the three times it did happen -- couldn't link it to anything.
It had no trouble keeping up with traffic or climbing some pretty serious hills (mountains for those of you east of the Mississippi), and kept the downhill speed under control.
Stocks. I hear 1/3 of your picks will go down, 1/3 will stay about the same. 1/3 will go up. You have to hope the 1/3 that go up go up, significantly more than the 1/3 that went down.
I don't do my own medical work or dental work...or car repairs, so I don't do my own stock picks. I did have a fun fund that I did well with, but don't want to spend the time. I would buy things like BP Oil after the disaster and it got hit....then it came up again. Same with Mars dog food when dogs were dying, then it came back again. But, you have to be emotionally detached to do well, I don't want the drama.
I had a school friend who moved to California and was an investment guy. I said you must be doing well. He says he manages the $million portfolios for clients...but, he goes to work on a bus....makes you think!
If you wants to bottom feed there are funds that buy out life insurance policies of terminal patients at a substantial discount. When the poor person dies ((usually in 6 mo or less) they collect the policy and make 25-50% APR.
Too slimey for my taste but some have no moral qualms.

That business was born back in the 90's when so many people were dying of ADS. The poor guys knew they were going to die, so sold their life insurance so they had money to live on in the interim. Pitiful how some will take advantage of other people.

There is a new color (at least for the Impreza model) for 2018, it's called Island Blue Pearl. It's at AutoNation in Spokane selling for $140 more than the Venetian Red Pearl Impreza is. The Island Blue Pearl Impreza is a 2018 and it's selling for $19,355. 2018 Subaru Impreza sedan in the new color of Island Blue Pearl
That $140 pays for headlights that turn on when you activate the wipers. Wow. I could buy the 2017 red Impreza for $19,215 and not bother. But I really like this bright blue color for the 2018 Impreza. I like it also because it's interior is black, and we've got the two active pups that would probably dirty up the white interior of the 2017 Subaru Impreza I'm looking at in Venetian Red Pearl. Subaru calls the white interior Ivory - I'm sure it's nice but I don't think it would work for us. I'm switching my allegiance to this blue one in Spokane. Anyone dealt with AutoNation in Spokane before? Will they wheel and deal?
In that respect I might want to keep the red Impreza in mind, because I'd think they'd wheel and deal moreso with the outgoing 2017 Impreza to clear it off their lot. AutoNation gets 4 1/2 out of 5 stars after hundreds of reviews - I may have found me a decent Subie dealer. Wenatchee's Subaru store has Impreza's starting at $23,295 - I don't even feel like going there with prices starting that high - I don't think they stock a single stick shift Impreza.
I'm hunting and gathering information for that single extra piece of data that pushes me in to the deep end to go test drive. As usual, the Mrs. will not even want to get close to this, so, as the breadwinner and single driver, I will have to pursue the trade-in. Also, our '11 Kia Soul 5-speed just crossed 90,000 miles. It's running well, but we owe $7,500 on it still. Trade-in will probably not be much more than $3,000 - $ 4,000. The trade-in time will be the sticking point no doubt, the point where I may have to just walk outta the dealership if they freak out at my trade-in. I would demand $4,000 - $5,000 for my Kia Soul. If they don't, I don't have to deal with an unhappy wife. If they go for it, I'm ecstatic and we've got ourself a new car. The car would suit us fine - I am pretty sure the Mrs. would love the car once we get in it and drive.
And...it will handle eastern Washington's snowy roads better - she's aleady telling me to stop off in Entiat (which is the halfway point of my commute) to take a cat nap at the city park there if I get tired. Now, guys, if I'm really sleepy and the roads are slippery, wouldn't it make good business since to drive a symmetrical AWD like the 2018 Subaru Impreza 2.0i sedan has? Wouldn't it? The more I think logically about it the more I like the idea. Our payment (72 mo.'s) will go up at least $100 a month - that works against my plan. But we can afford it - I wouldn't even consider this if we couldn't afford it. I've brought my calculator out at least a dozen times to do the math.
Walked past a magazine stand today, saw the new Car & Driver. Banner headline proclaims "New Honda Accord: - America's Best Sedan!"
Nothing like a balanced automotive journal. Especially from C&D which managed to keep that model on their 10 Best list for decades without any obvious reason for half that time.
I've had to laugh at that for years. Every model was the bestest, quietest, most handlingest, deluxest, usw. Then when an upgrade was made the company tauted how they had improved the noise, other weaknesses the previous model supposedly did not have, and the newest model is now the bestest, quietest, handlingest, deluxest, usw. Fake news.
LOL, I have noticed that for years on most cars, not just Honda. Hilarious.

lol mlevine about the fast feet. The E300 does 0 to 60 in 6.5 sec, the E400 in 5.1...it is quite a difference. It is a fair amount of metal, 4000 pounds, for a little 4 to handle. then there is probably noise and smoothness issues with the 4. I just think a 4 cyl in a large luxury car seems wrong. However, the E400 has lots of power, and with Sport or Sport+ you can really fly if you are trying to enter a highway. It is almost a crime to buy that car and to not get the 6 cylinder engine.
I luv, some good points of course. a few thoughts. first, if price is close, go with the newer model year. And have you considered the hatch version for the functionality (since you are used to the soul?).
how long exactly is your commute? Not only an issue with AWD traction, but with how many miles you are putting on per week.
oh, if trade value is too low, there is always the sell it yourself option.
End of the year or leftover is going to be a less desirable financial decision in most cases. It will generally take quite a few years before the depreciation difference becomes minimal compared to the initial cost savings. Of course there can be non-financial reasons to do it if there is something about the previous year model you really prefer and on vehicles with very low depreciation rates it can also payoff better.

I was thinking the same thing.
We have the "ivory" interior (albeit leather) in our Outback. That was the wife's preference, but it does get dirty easily - even without pets in it.
I don't know how much 2017 inventory is left - probably not much, as the '18's have been out for a month or two now.
I can't speak to WA, but the AutoNation dealers here in Denver are all "one price" - no haggling allowed.

Or cough up the $8,000. to get it fixed right.
Except you can buy one for about $4000.....no use spending more to fix the car than what it is worth. It is time to junk it!
I never feel lucky taking risks like flood cars. If I was going to buy one, it would have to be my own back, like that guy in the article.
Those flood cars will be on container ships headed to the Caribbean and South America as soon as they can be cleaned up after the insurance companies pay out the claims. I just hope the insurance companies don’t find a way to keep those cars on American roads.
Hey, guys, you remember I said that I was looking for that certain something ta drag me over the edge and into the water with the Subaru thing? Well, consider it done. Baked and stuck with a fork in it. This guy, Cory Hymas, works for Roy Robinson Subaru in Seattle. He calls himself the Subaru Guru - and, after watching the above video, plus one other where he explains torque vectoring, the Subaru boxer engine and why it works so well in Subaru symmetrical AWD, how ABS braking works along with your Subaru's AWD system, etc., I am convinced that Subaru is what I want for potentially snowy conditions in eastern Washington. And eastern Washington gets inclement weather. I'm looking at the weather forecast for Lake Chelan and we're gonna get down into the upper 30's later this week. I'm gonna post that video in the next post. The one I put above shows him moving imprez-ively through snow in Seattle when a Jeep spins his wheels. I loved it because I work with a lady who has a Jeep and Jeep people seem ta like ta rub it in that they "have a Jeep." I think Subie's are better in the snow than Jeeps. Watch the above vid if you don't believe me. I know, I know, coulda-shoulda-woulda....blah-blah-blah.
This video was the one that totally convinced me of the goodness of Subaru vehicles. I am going to keep this in my YouTube history list and learn more and more from it. This guy is the Subaru Guru - he really knows his stuff, inside and out. I already knew Subaru knows what they're doing, but I needed to do some further research into their vehicle systems and how they apply to inclement weather so I could feel confident in my decision. This Cory Hymas guy has done it. Thank you, Cory!
I have already found a contact that works for another Seattle Subaru dealer, but, I will probably buy from AutoNation of Spokane or Dick Hannah Subaru of Vancouver, WA, because they have the Impreza 2.0i in stick shift form. Seattle valley girls need the CVT's, don'tcha know.
@iluvmysephia1 - I've lived in Colorado for almost 25 years, and every one of my daily drivers has been FWD. While I can't say I've never been stuck (usually when I was delivering pizza), I've found that I can get around a majority of the time just fine.
My wife, who is a CO native, demands 4WD or AWD, and has been driving such vehicles for the last 15 years or so. Gives her piece of mind, though we need to replace the OEM tires on her Outback soon.
We're expected to get 6" of snow in the next 24 hours - good thing my daughter is driving the MINI this week, and my wife is riding with her. The MINI got new tires just a year ago.

Wow, you Denver-ites don't mess around, do you? Yikes. Snow...already? Well, Lake Chelan is heading down to the upper 30's later on this week, yeppa.
A workmate told me that the highway I spend the most time on during my commute, Highway 97A, is the most dangerous highway for fatalities in the state of Washington. Immediately my mind went right to Subaru, of course. I get slightly OCD at times, but in a good way. Because it's centered on cars, it's good. But the Mrs. is really worried about me - my commute is 58 miles, stickguy. It takes 1 hour and 4 minutes in light traffic. As a Sleep Tech, I am up all night and I do get very, very tired at about 7:30AM, when I get off of work. I am completely convincing myself I could use a Subaru now - I really am.
The 2017/18 Subaru Impreza tracks very well and corners very well - anything helps - a nanny add-on like lane departure would probably help me in the morning commute back home - because I do nod off if I'm really tired!

I see used ones in your area going for about $15000 to high $20ks. I don't know if you are close to OTD for $19k. A little concerned about the trade-in too. I do think you need a good reliable car to get to and from work. That is a long and tiring commute.........although your home has a beautiful location maybe think about moving closer to work when your rental lease comes up. AUTO TRADER
Good luck with it, sounds like the ideal car for you at this time.
If I wanted one of those old beat up beasts my school sells off a few dozen every year as they rotate stock. Talk about hoopties, most schools run those things into the ground before they sell them. 100k miles of stop and go is equal to 500k of over the road use.
If I wanted an old bus I'd get something more interesting.
You might be ok if you buy back your own flood car as you would know how flooded it got but the rest would be an incredible gamble.
My worry is older flood cars that had no comprehensive insurance. There would be no claim record for those so looking at traditional sources wouldn't reveal their history.
I'm also suspisious of buying a car from neighboring Vermont which has some lacks title requirements that could help a scammer.

Haven't driven an ‘18 Accord, yet! But, when I drove the ‘17 Accord Touring, I came “oh so close” to buying it. So, if the the ‘17 was really good, I suspect the ‘18 is better. Compared to Altimas, Camries, Fusions, Malibus, the kind of cars I’ve driven (mostly as rentals), I’d take the Accord, without much thought.
I’d be interested in test driving the 6-speed 2.0T. I expect those would be quite hard to fine, but would like to test one out.
Hondas/Acuras have a well deserved reputation for making high quality and sporty vehicles that last a long time. So, I understand the Accord’s appeal to the trade rags.
It does have Eyesight, and the adaptive cruise generally works well, but is more abrupt than I'd like when someone cuts in front of me -- it jams on the brakes rather than applying them the way I would. Very nice, though, in normal high-speed traffic.

How could an Accord not be on a top 10 list for best cars to buy? It looks good, engineered with a sporty feel, reliable, roomy, nicely designed, comfortable, holds it's value. Other cars come and go, an Accord is a pretty safe investment.
I want to wish all of our Canadian friends a Happy Thanksgiving today! May you eat, drink, laugh and enjoy yourselves.

imidazol97 - right on, man. I do tend to get that way about my rigs...obsessive. Three of my four vehicles have been Kia's starting in May of 1999. And I am still impressed as to their build quality.
Looking at the older Impreza's, the last few models have looked fairly good to me but this one definitely looks the best overall. Each and every Subaru model made now will use the 2017 and/on Impreza platform for a chassis.

I agree - the previous versions of the Impreza were just OK looking.
This new generation is the first to really catch my eye. There is a black sedan about a half-dozen houses down on my block. I'm guessing it's a higher level trim, as it has bigger wheels and tires.
The Impreza hatch is still a bit, well, odd looking - it's my humble opinion that Kia and Hyundai are designing the best looking compact hatchbacks, currently.

If you were selling your nothing special car for 50% or more (hard to tell because you didn't list milage) above kbb value, would you post an interior shot like this?
And that is after he cleaned it up to take the picture!
btw....what is it and how much? The slob couldn't even clean the floor mats! Probably KFC chicken bones under the seats!
The dealer I turned over the Audi to didn't even bother to detail the car before putting it up for sale. I was looking at the pictures on the dealer's website over the weekend and they didn't even bother to scrub down the WeatherTech mats I stupidly left in the car. The car isn't even close to as ratty as that one is but it had been a few weeks since I gave the interior a good cleaning. There's also some stray dog hair on the backseat that I missed when I vacuumed it out the night before. I get that it's used and but if I was serious about buying it I would insist on a full detail inside and out.

This is the color of blue that I like for the 2018 Impreza. One of these in a "pre-negotiable price" of $19,355 is in transit to AutoNation Subaru in Spokane. Next Monday, if the car is there, would be a day that I could drive the 3 hours east to Spokane to test drive.
My first new car came in a color Ford called Brilliant Blue. It was on our 1994 Ford Escort SW. Besides a blown exhaust manifold fixed under Warranty our first new car was a good one. But blue is a good color on the new Impreza's.

Good car.

However, the E400 has lots of power, and with Sport or Sport+ you can really fly if you are trying to enter a highway. It is almost a crime to buy that car and to not get the 6 cylinder engine.

how long exactly is your commute? Not only an issue with AWD traction, but with how many miles you are putting on per week.
oh, if trade value is too low, there is always the sell it yourself option.

Works for some, but not for all.

My worry is older flood cars that had no comprehensive insurance. There would be no claim record for those so looking at traditional sources wouldn't reveal their history.
I'm also suspisious of buying a car from neighboring Vermont which has some lacks title requirements that could help a scammer.

I was behind an older Miata on the highway Saturday evening. His licence plate was "I zum zum."

Looking at the older Impreza's, the last few models have looked fairly good to me but this one definitely looks the best overall. Each and every Subaru model made now will use the 2017 and/on Impreza platform for a chassis.

2018 Subaru Impreza 2.0i sedan in Island Blue Pearl
This is the color of blue that I like for the 2018 Impreza. One of these in a "pre-negotiable price" of $19,355 is in transit to AutoNation Subaru in Spokane. Next Monday, if the car is there, would be a day that I could drive the 3 hours east to Spokane to test drive.
My first new car came in a color Ford called Brilliant Blue. It was on our 1994 Ford Escort SW. Besides a blown exhaust manifold fixed under Warranty our first new car was a good one. But blue is a good color on the new Impreza's.
