Nice truck. A co-worker has a King Ranch like that, I drove it once, surprisingly easy.

Just came back from a 4 week sojourn to  the Caribbean. Visited Dominica where Hurricane Maria's 220 mph winds destroyed 95% of the island.

Five months after the storm but not much in the way of recovery. Bill Clinton and Prince Charles visited but it was more PR than humanitarian relief. They blame the devastation on global warming and climate change. Their ivory tower solution--rebuild Dominica as the first climate resilient country.

Has anyone seen the movie Black Panther? How was it? Kid stuff or a nice way to enjoy an action flick?

I heard it's quite good and I intend to see it on an Imax screen tomorrow when the theatre is less crowded.

I was thinking that about Cuba, but the same would apply to Dominica. They need to build homes like bunkers. Dig into the ground and put on a solid roof. If they rebuild the same kind of homes they had, they will get destroyed again.

    @driver100,
There is a bottle of water on one of the cup holders.
New truck is a long way from my first one.

That looks just like my old Ford.

I'm just curious why you traded in a 14 for a 18? A 4 year old truck would just be getting broken in for me.

    @qbrozen,
Now I can fit 5 real people, 6 if someone is will to lay across the floor in the 2nd row. :)

How many can fit in the back...if they lay down and can't be seen?

Congrats! So I take it you were happy with your FX4s trade in value & a very healthy discount off sticker on the '17 vs an '18? Are there any big changes from '17 - '18? I like the black mesh "sport appearance" grille on thew '18s.

My first choice truck just went on sale at my preferred dealer.
Put in an email inquiry about availability.
    Keeping fingers crossed.

Spring is here, everybody's getting hot pants! B)

Speaking of hot pants, as soon as the salt is off the road I'm putting a little more aggressive exhaust on my Ford. This is one I'm considering because I like the sound and it's got a lower price than Borla or Ford Racing.

I usually hold off on congrats until it's over the curb. Just a believer in the old bird in the hand thingy. However, I will make an exception this time and hope it goes through as planned.

It looks like a nice road bully alright, BUT, (you knew that was coming), since it is Black it ain't going to look any better than your old one did with salt splatter. :'(

You owe us a report after the first 1K miles but (didn't mean to put in that but) surely before the first oil change.

By the way, the NY Times is reporting that the upscale pick-up truck is the new status symbol. In the story they pictured a guy with his  $80k Ford 150.

That seems to be the trend alright.

When I was a kid the only guys with pickups wore jeans to work. Who would have thunk that road bully's and German luxo's would be driven by the same people? Talk about a messed up society.

If nothing else, we at least have a poster buddy that can finance our next car purchase.

The option list is enormous. You want Limited, a Platinum or a King Ranch? Of course you want the Limited, starting at $62K. Then you want Trailer Tow Package and Bed Divider, naturally. And the spray-in bed liner. And the box side steps and the extended range fuel tank and foldable box extender and stowable loading ramps and the tailgate step and hard tonneau box cover and wheel well liners and the 3.55 optional diff and the interior floor liner, and back-up trailer assist pkg and the smoker's package. Oh, and the special White Platinum paint.

Now THAT should punch you in over $80K. :p

Meant was, the prices for the extras seems way out of line. Drivetrain pretty much the same. Ditto suspension. Some difference mostly trim, gadgets, electronics and bling.

It confuses me only when I look at my current truck. I don't see where I'm missing $30k+ in optional equipment.

I'm glad my purchase is providing so much commentary. :)
My truck did not list for 80k and it's a 2017.
If you want to do some math, using 80k as a baseline, it listed for 85% of that. The selling price was 70% of the baseline and my trade was 35% of the baseline, so it split the purchase price.
This did not include taxes and fees.

    The Black Panther lives.

If you are car guy, this is must see cinema. No spoilers here but vibranium is central to the story and Disney's deep pockets, special effects and constant action make this an Imax spectacular.

    70% of $80K "baseline" = $56K on ~$68K MSRP; trade = $28K.

So it's a 17. Guess I wasn't paying attention. I'm not going through that math since no matter how it comes out your truck cost more than my house.

Still wondering why the trade after so few years. I'm not being critical, in fact I'm jealous that you can afford to do it.

A local dealer is advertising 18% off sticker on GMC Arcadias. Seems like a lot this early in the year. Is there a redesign due or are they just not selling?

I get it. I also traded a 2014 for a 2017 in September. But mine was a Silverado and my big upgrade was going from the 5.3 V-8 to the 6.2 with Maximum Towing package.

No, the Acadia was just redesigned a year or so ago. I had one as a loaner last summer, liked it quite a bit. Maybe these are leftover 2017s?

The ATS was due for its first service so I took it in yesterday. No issues and really it was not much more than an oil & filter change but again the dealer managed to irritate me. Since Cadillac covers the service cost they once again foisted a new set of generic wiper blades onto me. I told them not to touch the OE ones so they just put the packages of blades in the trunk. I will have a full inventory of the things in a few years at this rate (this is the second set to be put on my shelf). Then when I picked up the car they made sure to note on the work order that next time at the 1-year anniversary I should get a 4-wheel alignment plus a brake service (lubricating sliders, etc), each of which they helpfully indicated were priced at $129.95 + tax, which is not covered by Cadillac of course. The car might have 4000 miles on it at that point. It is quite ridiculous.

The commercial specifically said 2018. 18% off a 2017 wouldn't be anything special.
