You know when winter arrives here in my condo community - not by the change in temperatures or the reduced hours of daylight! It’s the lack of guest parking spaces in front of my building and the long waits for the elevator as the snowbirds unload their cars and wheel their belongings to the apartments on the 3rd and 4th floors (I live on the second floor)!
It was so peaceful and quiet this summer and fall. But no longer. And when the holidays arrive, there is an increase in the din as children and grandchildren arrive to crowd into these 2-bedroom apartments - kids running up and down the stairs and along the adjacent catwalks. Bah Humbug!

Chip seal? Ugh. Too much, I fear. But, that doesn't work well at all in the cold because the tar is too viscous to set up properly, and the rock just never sets in it quite right.
Chip seal roads are no fun for cyclists. Gravel flies up into your bike and legs, and if you go down, well, imagine being dragged across a cheese grater at 20 miles an hour. Chip seal roads are fine after the first couple of weeks, for the most part. I just don't want to participate during those weeks. It's relatively cheap and therefore popular -- imagine.

You look at snowbirds differently than my late Delray Beach brother looked at them. He liked that they helped keep his taxes down. He also didn't mind a longer wait at restaurants for the same reason. You should know, being a long time Southern Florida dude, that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

As mentioned, there are tons of review on Youtube. I skip the recent creations by sometimes awkward or not completely informed reviewers, and go for period reviews (like that one). MotorWeek has a ton of period reviews online, and Thames TV uploads a car-related review like this around once a week, fascinating stuff:

I found this interesting. Is this guy a nut or does he know what he’s talking about? He’s definitely right about the Chrysler 2.7L. After reading about that engine I went back 18 years to buy a car without it.

True. My neighbors here tell me the place is like a ghost town when the snowbirds aren't here. About half the units here are snowbirds. Also, a lot of businesses would close down if we weren't here....not to mention property values and taxes paid....and about 1/3rd higher than Homesteaders.

Just received a text from Hewlett-Packard about my 190t PC. They informed me they will no longer be able to provide parts for the computer effective 12/1/2018. I guess my HP PC is kind of old and/or out of date. I just don’t see the benefit of buying a new computer since I rarely use it except for word processing and printing. When this one goes, I will buy an inexpensive HP PC as a replacement. My HP monitor and laser printer are still fine.
I did a quick search. 2010 vintage, and pretty expensive in it's day. $2,100 (minimum), of which about half was for the 6 core Intel I7 cpu. Looking at the minimum specs (yours might be even better), this was a very nice computer, and would still do anything you are likely to need today. Just keep Windows 7 up to date, as Microsoft will provide security patches until 2020.
I just got a new desktop from Dell a few weeks ago. It has the same processor; 6 core i7 (8th gen though). It also has a 1TB SSD and a 1 TB regular hard drive. Man how times have changed.
I remember opting for the bigger 80 MB hard drive when I bought my first computer and, I think, 8 MB of RAM.
I remember my first computer, we upgraded the RAM to 640K and we went hog wild with a 40 MB hard drive. IIRC we never came close to maxing out the hard drive.

Those are pretty good, I'll admit to watching those at times. Another I will sometimes watch are these bozos who film themselves being pulled over by the police and tell the police they are not driving they are travelling since they are not operating on a commercial capacity. Then they refuse to show the officer 5heir license. It usually doesn't end well for them.
That's it sovereign citizens. Yes the cops do keep it together very well, but they are trained to de-escalated situations. It really amazes me that people believe that crap. I know for a fact that they don't read the court cases they quote.

Oh contrire, Canada geese are considered the roast beef of the skies by hunters. The reason jmonroe is having problems is that his landscaper, jmonroe1 is doing too good of a job with the lawn. Geese eat a lot of grass and short cropped fertilized grass is high in protein.
I don’t have any problem with them because there is a healthy population of coyotes out in the woods which is their only real predator. The geese go down the road about a mile to the horse farm where the owners actively hunt the coyotes to protect the horses.

I renewed my SiriusXM trial once again. The agent was all business this time. The call five months earlier was less attempt at selling a full subscription than earlier calls. This one was clear. I was cancelling the autorenewal today the last full day. And I was willing to renew at something about the same as my previous subscription for 5 months. My account must be red flagged. No attempt to sell a full or other term with higher pricing. Just slam bam, thank you sir.
I was already aggravated because I caught a comment on SiriusXM a week or so ago that my favorite channel, SoulTown would be changing to something else for a while. They keep changing certain of the channels for a month or two, then they come back. I think SoulTown became the Aretha channel most recently. I assume it's going to join Holly and Hallmark as the Christmas season channels.
I wish they'd start a channel of the Canadian station content that's played from midnight to 5 am in Toronto, Driver100 territory. I tune that station if I wake up after midnight and the songs are usually pleasant and calming. I read that they load 100 of the best songs to automatically play at midnight on 740 am, Zoomer radio. http://www.zoomerradio.ca
I had thought about setting up a streaming capture of their over the internet signal to make mp3's or dvds to play in the car.

That's the current venture of Canadian media icon Moses Znaimer, who is an interesting guy. He started City-TV in Toronto, an independent station that was very different, with lots of local content mixed in. I got it on cable here and I watched it a lot because it was quite good in its prime. That became part of CHUM, a larger media company, in the '80s but they let him do pretty much what he wanted. When cable channels started to pop up he created MuchMusic here, which for a while was (IMO) better than the early MTV. Later he created a number of other specialty channels before he cashed out. Now of course under various media conglomerate ownership most of those channels are not worth watching.
He created Zoomer after buying a couple of down-on-their-luck radio stations for a song. It now has a related cable TV channel that he purchased, though the terms of its license (it is licensed as a religious/spiritual programmer) prevent it from being all of what he probably would like it to be. There is also a Zoomer magazine printed. He is a very creative fellow.

Oh yes. I learned to ride on gravel mostly, and some chip seal. I became VERY good at jumping off the bike as it went down (after, of course, many sessions of gravel removal from knees and other various body parts).

My auto renewal is up in about 2 weeks, and I plan to call just before to discuss it or cancel it - with so many streaming options these days, I can find plenty to keep me occupied if they can't find a better deal. I've been a longtime customer, which probably won't matter. I used to be enthused about it, but it seems more frivolous as time and tech march on.

I hate their business model so much that after the bad experience I had this time with the free trial on the ATS being cut off early I won't deal with them ever again just on the principle of the thing. I don't miss them anyway.
The utility company paid up the full estimate without even sending an adjuster to look at it. They said if once work starts additional hidden damage is found they’ll pay that too but they’d have to have somebody look at it. As I suspected, they want this out of the way before a lawyer gets involved. The car goes in Tuesday.

This morning, I drove up to the Boca Town Center Mall to walk a lap or two to keep up my stamina. I was passing the Apple Store at about 11:00 AM and noticed they were open early (12:00 PM on Sundays is the usual opening time). I walked in and I saw the guy who helped me with my iPhone 7+ issue a couple of weeks ago. He walked over to me and said that Apple had just increased the trade-in allowance on my phone from $250 to $300 and dropped the pricing on the iPhone 8+. I told him that was interesting since my 7+ came off the Apple Care plan yesterday and was no longer warranted for issues or problems. He showed me the 8+ once again and I compared it with the Xr. The Xr is just too much technology for me - I don't take lots of photos and I don't use a tremendous number of APPs. I play two games on my phone (Boggle and Words With Friends 2), text close friends and family and I use the internet quite a bit.
He worked up pricing for me and it came out to $610 for an iPhone 8+, Apple Case, Apple Screen Cover and Apple Care + for 2 years, net before taxes. So I took the plunge and got a new phone. The 8+ has unbelievable audio playback and sound (improved speakers) and it has a much faster processor. Additionally, it has wireless charging which is useful since my S450 has a wireless charging pad in the console. It also has an improved battery with longer life and more talk/text time. So now I have a phone that is under warranty for 2 full years so I have no worries. Size is identical to the 7+, but colors, brilliance and screen are all improved.
Now I am just finishing up transferring passwords and touch capabilities to all my credit card and bank APPs. Unfortunately, I messed up my banking mobile app so I am frozen out of using it until I can contact them tomorrow and reset the mobile and internet apps. That's what happens when you forget passwords and user names - my memory can't keep up with all the passwords and user names.
Actually, I am very respectful. I always check their website before calling to see if there are any current promotions. You still may have to work to get it.

Keeping up with passwords is a continuing challenge. My daughter broke her i6 (conveniently?) a week before her 17th birthday two weeks ago. Her doting parents (spoiled child) got a new phone which is the Xr. She loves it and knows how to use all the features. I ended up with a new ipad as well. There was a special if you buy an I phone they discount the iPad a decent amount. It was much needed as my 5 year old iPad cannot update any longer. Yes, they reeled me in.

Are you talking about Apple and their phones or Sirius XM and their music?
I was out all day. Went to see Bohemian Rhapsody, what a great biographical movie. Amazing story and a well crafted movie.
Imid: Zoomer radio is unique and it is nice that AM radio can still be vibrant and alive these days. Ab: Nice synopsis of Moses Znaimer. When he first started his indie TV channel he showed "Baby Blue Movies" at midnight to create an audience, and he did. Oldfarmer: I thought Canada Geese were not suitable for eating. Just read an article and what you say is true, farmers hate them because they can eat a field of seeds in a few minutes, hunters love hunting them - they are challenging to catch, and people who eat them say they are delicious.....similar to roast beef, nice if sauteed. Jmonroe1 and snake should open a Geese Fil-A franchise....instead of complaining start cooking.
Just renewed 2 of my Siriusxm Select plans(140 channels) for $76 each for a year minus a partial month credit.
That’s the last deal I got on my two Sirius accounts. For that, I think it is worth it. I’m going to try for it again, threatening to give it up if they don’t accept my offer.
I hate their business model so much that after the bad experience I had this time with the free trial on the ATS being cut off early I won't deal with them ever again just on the principle of the thing. I don't miss them anyway.
I canceled mine about 8 months ago. After having it for many, many years I figured I would miss it. I don't.

I have over 800 songs on my illegal USB stick........all songs I like and chose and my favorite station doesn't suddenly disappear and I don't need a reminder to call them and fight to get a decent price every year or automatically get charged some ridiculous amount.

SXM was hot to get the radio in my Clubman reactivated; they sent me an email offering three years for $124 with NO automatic renewal. I took the deal.

Now that is the best deal I have seen or heard of for SiriusXM. But the best deals always seem to come when they want you to reactivate, so you have to let it lapse before you can get the best deal.
As someone said (up above), I really dislike their business model. As in intensely dislike. Makes me feel just a little slimy doing business with them.
I filled up the T&C this afternoon, $2.05 for 87 octane. 93 octane was $2.61.

Most will have translations, some will have news about the incident, and other anecdotes. The Youtuber has a sense of humor.

The one computer I really remember was a Dell I purchased around 1996. Pentium 200 MMX; two 1 GB hard drives, 8 MB of RAM and outboard sound and video cards.
At the time it was literally a powerhouse. Today your phone is probably 50X more powerful

I don’t have any problem with them because there is a healthy population of coyotes out in the woods which is their only real predator. The geese go down the road about a mile to the horse farm where the owners actively hunt the coyotes to protect the horses.

That 2003 PT probably has bent valves from a timing belt failure. I understand you have to drop the engine to change the belt so people neglect it until it’s too late.
