@sb55, Back in the 70's when I went to school up there, there used to be car races on the lake. On the weekends you would see headlights on the lake at night. People driving to/from Burlington/Port Kent?
They just reported that Lake Champlain is completely iced over. But, there are pressure cracks here and there. For those who have never seen one, think plate tectonics, when the ice moves one sheet goes over and one sheet goes under.
We have guys back home that drive their trucks or Skidoos out on the ice for one reason or another....every year a few of them go through the ice.

Anyone who honks at you for not making right on red fast enough to suit them is an idiot, let alone anyone who would drive around you. Honkers have no authority unless they are paying your insurance.

Never heard of Charlie Wing. He sounds overqualified to write about driving a nail.
He also writes about boating. To make a living at being an author the book is just the way to lead you into more lucrative work. Hard to make a living writing books on how to launch your own rocket.
That book is proof as to why you shouldn't do electrical work if you are color blind. I see a yellow crimp-on splice on a blue wire and a blue crimp-on splice on what looks like a greenish wire. Good way to cause a short and burn something down.

Oddly enough I bought some of those crimp on wire connectors yesterday. The ones I bought were different colors and it said certain colors were for certain size wires. Has something changed or are we talking about different things?
Don't worry, nothing has changed. I was just kidding about the colors having to correspond to the wire insulation colors. Although in the photo the yellow splice looks like it is to large for the wire it is on and when you put a crimp-on splice that is too large for the wire, you will more than likely not be able to crimp it on tight enough for a good connection without cracking the insulation on the splice which then exposes the metal crimp ring in the splice which in turn creates an unsafe condition. So, following the instructions for the correct wire size for the crimp-on splice is very important. And most important is that crimp-on splices should only be used on STRANDED wire NEVER solid wire.

Don't know if this topic was discussed previously, but here goes:
Tesla is shifting all of its sales from stores to the internet, saying the move is needed to cut costs so it can sell the mass-market Model 3 for a starting price of $35,000.
Tesla will offer the standard base Model 3 for $35,000, which can go 220 miles (350 kilometers) per charge. It also will offer a $37,000 version with a premium interior that accelerates faster and can go 240 miles (385 kilometers) per charge.
The company also pledged to make test drives easier, allowing buyers to return a car within seven days or 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) for a full refund. Read the full article at:

Car sales models are slowly changing to getting “ flipped on its head”. I don’t know the numbers of $’s cost per sale internet vs Tesla (high end) show room, but I’m sure it’s substantially more for a showroom concept of any stripe.
The Tesla factory (repurposed GM/Toyota plant, 121 acres) is close by (Fremont, CA), & I wouldn’t be surprised if they set up factory pick up points & tours, ala, Corvette, BMW, VW, etc.
So in fact, buildings & lands are being re-purposed. My guess is that (the 121 acres) Teslas’ plant will end up being re repurposed. Those lands can easily be sold (almost fire sale) for $1.75 M to $2.2 M $ per acre. So how many businesses can afford $266.2 M for an antiquated plant & grounds ?
CA has a “not open for business” sign for business in general. It has an even a nasty attitude toward any type of manufacturing, ala., Tesla. They put the electric battery plant near Reno, NV.

Ahh. Food coma exists right now. Wife and I were good all week. Had the butcher at the local supermarket cut up a few 1.5” thick rib eyes. So damn good. This nice red blend washed it down well.
Snow moved up the coast from Boston area. Media weather types have been all over the place, saying it could be 6” or 18”. Real useful. Naturally a large segment of the public freaked out today, clearing the shelves like there would be no access to food for weeks. Apparently there was even a fight in the aisles at Costco.
The media weather people really need to get a grip. What they are doing is irresponsible IMO and they are clearly more concerned with getting ratings, clicks and reaction than providing accurate info.
I just go with the same costume every year. Old geezer with a yappy Lab handing out candy! Hey, it works for me, and we do put a costume on the dog.
actually, we are semi-famous in the neighborhood as the "popcorn house". we discovered some years back that BJ's had big boxes of microwave popcorn packets with halloween motif. Much easier than buying candy (and safer not having all that evil stuff in the house!)

C'mon man, you're making me hungry. That's exactly the way I like mine cut. I flame mine on the grill with oak wood strips. 3 minutes each side turning diagonally half way through then flip it and do the same thing on the other side...perfect medium rare on my grill.
Hint: For a better taste, I don't call mine rib eyes. I call them Delmonicos. Try it and see.

we went to a little Italian place and splurged on dinners instead of a pizza. had some chicken and sausage special that was superb. Wife had the tortellini bolognase special, and it was to die for. Daughter had chicken parm. so much food, we have at least 6 meals left over. so quite the deal! and as a BYOB, excellent value.

We like medium rare too! I did mine for a minute each side in a screaming hot cast iron and then two mins each side in a hot oven (in same pan). I prefer the grill, but we don’t have good lighting out there so had to do inside.
When I went to buy them yesterday every one in the meat case was 3/4” thick. Pretty hard to get a nice sear on that and still have it medium rare.
Sorry to change the topic but I got my Halloween costume for October. I'll take a picture with me in front of the C250 on Halloween....for the fans! If JMonroe isn't careful I will post it earlier...it arrives on Wednesday.

Sounds like a great Italian ristorante. Chicken Parmesan (misnomer because they use mozzarella cheese, not Parmesan cheese on top) is my favorite. Yummy!
Just got a text from my grandson. The college is flying the baseball team to the Vero Beach area on Thursday for Spring Break training along with the coaches. They are staying at a local motel and have hired buses to transport the team to and from the training facility. Looks like I will be driving up there next weekend to see him and take him out for dinner.
This is is a dream that’s come true!
It’s about a 2 hour drive from me (114 miles) right up the Turnpike to Ft. Pierce and then over to I-95 for the rest of the trip. I can’t wait to see him.
I just spoke with him - I was wrong - they will be up near Kissimmee for 6 days starting Thursday. That’s a 3+ hour drive up the Turnpike. He said he is going to ask his coaches about time away with his grandfather. If I can spend enough time with him, I will try to find a motel to stay at. It’s crowded up there this time of year (Universal Studios, Disney World, etc.).
Yes, they will be playing intramurals with visiting teams and local teams for practice.

Next Halloween party will be Friday Oct 25th. We will probably come back to Florida on October 23rd, so not too much time to order a costume. Have to plan ahead.
