@abacomike, are you OK? I read in the paper this morning that a man in Florida (Coral Springs, I think) got bitten by a ball python that had somehow gotten into his toilet. When he sat down on the seat, not seeing the snake, it bit him. He had no idea how the snake got into the apartment. The snake is non venomous so the guy will recover. When I read this, I thought to myself this is an @abacomike story if I have ever heard one. I really hope it’s not you, Mike.
No, never got bitten on my derrière by a snake while sitting on the toilet! My mornings in the John are much less stressful!
Talk about changing lanes and defensive driving! This happened on a highway about 50 miles from where I live.......it is incredible that no one was seriously injured; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zecewzno0C4
That is a little more expensive than what you are usually looking at O-F. Low miles are good.....but, it is almost 4 years old so I think it depreciated at about a normal level. It seems that low miles are a great advantage to the buyer, they help the seller to sell sooner and easier, but, the low mileage does not bring the cost of the car up that much more.
Also, not a car that is in high demand. Are you thinking of trading in the Soul?
No but I’m always looking for a bargain. Edmunds values it in the $19k+ range.

Now up to 11 tornadoes in this TV area on Monday night. Last evening our water was down to a dribble. This morning, none.
Lost my sense of humor.
Yesterday the incompetent folks running Dayton admitted the two water processing stations had no electric power due to the tornado that went through near downtown. They had not set up backup generators. The water services the whole county through the Montgomery County Water Services buying water from Dayton and selling it to their area.
No backup generators on several pumping stations either that move the water out and about. We are on a higher level and are called the high pressure system. About 1/3 of the area. Higher altitude is harder to pump to. The Folks in Dayton just said to boil countrywide and conserve. Poor communication because they didn't really want to emphasize how desperate the water situation was, and that ALL in the county needed to conserve.
The folks in Kettering, Centerville, and other low pressure county areas didn't conserve. So that meant that when the one water processing station was back up, the low pressure suburban users were using water at a fast rate. That meant not being able to pump to the higher pressure areas.
We were without water all day. I drained garden hose to get water to flush toilet--also used some water in gallon milk jugs for watering flower plants in the back. (No snakes found in any of the water.)
Finally, midday, the powers "running" Dayton had gotten the word out to the South Suburbs to conserve water. Also they got the second processing plant up and running. So at 6 pm we finally have a slow water supply which should build overnight.
At least the County officials have realized they need to develop other sources of water. I told them that 20 years ago when they had trouble with quality of the water from the County's wells and decided just to go with City of Dayton Water supply. County had options on a large area for well field development. I hope they still have those options.
In February the City had a large supply line under the water in the river break during flooding. It was leaking, causing a systemwide contamination as well as pressure low problem before they could locate the leak was underneath the river water.
Infrastructure not being maintained by the City of Dayton, again.
This is the second time callers criticized WKEF for doing what law says and that is provide safety warning when dangerous weather is in viewing area, which includes Richmond Indiana and its county. Viewers flood the phones as well as social/unsocial media.
An earlier time a few weeks or months back The weatherman had interrupted Judge Judy with the perpetual reruns of her faux judge show.
He was even made fun of on the Wendy Williams show today. The show seemed to side with the Bachelorette viewers. She failed to mention 11 tornadoes moved in as the storm moved from Indiana into Ohio.
Just like with the Chevy commercials showing real people commenting on vehicles, someone is always ready to ridicule.
Ima - you and your family OK from the tornadoes? I know that Dayton, Cincy and Wright Patterson area can get some whopper storms at times.
Scared by the storm's going by so close, within sight. Aggravated by no water from our Dayton City water supply to the county water system. But not nearly as troubled as many within miles who have houses with no roofs, no walls in some cases, damaged cars. Thousands.
I didn't think they were worth that much when new. But, I think @imidazol97 can clarify that.

I respectfully submit that Mr. Monroe is full of prunes. If I had a choice of my $18k Soul or that $18k Lacrosse I’d be hard pressed to decide. Buick’s from my experience are comfortable, reliable cars. $41k new would be a bit expensive but at less than half price at 4 years old, I’d have to consider it. My only prohibition would be my wife’s mobility.

My reaction now that I've thought about it, is the car is a base model 1SE. It might even be below the equipment is it were a fleet sale or rental sale. I believe those, in some GM cars, are a 1LT Fleet RPO package. I'd sure wanna see the history records from CarCheck or CarFix or whatever they're called.

I don't want the folks here to think I watch the Wendy Williams show. My wife called me in real quick when Williams started on the story. I have seen some of her shows, however.
I think back to television in the daytime when I was a kid and it was the Ruth Lyons show with Bob Braun oriented to talking to women about what housewives did in those days. It was about real commercials by the show people about products (Proctor and Gamble) that they used. Each commercial done live.
Lord, how things have changed on daytime TV. It's become politicized and vicious.
they have a picture of the window sticker. lots of nanny assist options, and a moonroof. Would not expect to see that on a fleet car. Plus the miles are pretty low for that.
Come on, that was the Duke and the Duke should be on a horse with a Colt SA Army.
Wayne made a few cop chase movies late in his career. That clip was from “McCue” where he also drove a Trans Am. Another movie was “Brannigan” where he smashed up a Jaguar S with a Capri and later shot up a Jaguar E at the finish.

I could understand some of the frustration with this. My experience with this type of thing is that it is a nonstop broadcast repeating what could be stated in under a minute or so. A half hour or more of nonstop news reporting on the weather can really turn people off of it and not pay it any attention. A quick occasional break and then maybe a scrolling warning at the bottom of the screen should do it.
What's really annoying is an hour long broadcast of talking heads repeating that bad weather is passing through areas that are 40 miles to the north and we're sitting under clear skies.
2011 Hyundai Sonata, 2014 BMW 428i convertible, 2015 Honda CTX700D
we watch the local (Philly) news before dinner, so 5-5:30 then 5:30-6, and 6- 6:30 they run them. 3 times in the last week, they spent entire episodes with 2 of the weather anchors standing in front of the board talking about the tornado watch. nothing really changing, just same stuff over and over. Never had one other item on the broadcast.
I can understand interrupting if you are tracking a tornado on the ground, but the local channels seem to want to prattle on even if it's just a line of strong storms. I wish they's just go to a split screen with the regular programming and put the regular program audio on SAP...

We were in the path of a “super cell” or some such thing last evening. I told the fam there was absolutely nothing to worry about, but they panicked and heeded the alarmist weather guy instead who said folks should get in their basements. Spent an hour down there playing a board game, so no loss. And, of course, the worst thing that happened was my recycle bin getting blown over in the driveway.

It’s weather as entertainment these days. People like to be alarmed/scared/panicked.
It really bothers me when I am watching something like Hot Bench and they just get to the verdict and then they interrupt to tell you there might be a hurricane in the area. A loud beep and a scroll would be good enough until they tell you how the case ended.
What gets me isn’t so much the breaking news or weather updates, but almost without fail I will be watching something, it is just getting ready to end and at a critical point and my wife walks in wanting to talk. She wins.

Florida has more lightning strikes each year than any other State (possibly continent but I don’t know the stats for that)

It used to be, before these newer guidelines about being on air to warn people, that severe storms would move into the general area. After they had passed through the western part of the viewing area, then the TV stations would come because the storms were getting to the downtown area and the Kettering and Centerville suburbs where more of the folks on the stations live. They didn't bother warning about hail or high winds when the storms spent 30 miles moving in, because it didn't mean anything to them.
This particular storm had produced tornadoes north and east of Indianapolis, not just watches, real tornadoes were observed.
The Jamie Simpson who was criticized is the best of the weathermen. He pointed out that the storms had been predicted for a day to go 30 miles north of us. But there were small cells forming south of it and merging in. He said that causes the storm to sag toward the south--and it did. The other two stations never mentioned that factor.
This was the major storm that had produced terrible weather out in the plains states previous couple of days.
Reminds me of a Chrysler intermediate that I saw with the front wheel completely free at the top and lying plopped down out of the wheel well. It was apparently fastened at the ball joint at the bottom, but the whole top of the strut was visible, like the strut had pulled out of the mounting holes. They had just pulled out of an uneven driveway at a grocery. Maybe it was a 300M?

Up here in the rust belt, that is a fairly common sight on early-2000s Honda Civics and whatever the Acura version of it was called. Not designed to resist corrosion very well.
The new 2020 (refreshed) Lexus RX. According to Road/Show "Visual tweaks are subtle, but if you look closely, you'll be able to spot the differences. At the front, the headlights are now thinner, the grille is divided into L-shaped blocks instead of slats and the fog lights sit lower in the bumper. It's inside, however, where the most important updates lie. The 2020 RX is now outfitted with standard Android Auto, making this the first Lexus product to carry the Google-backed smartphone mirroring tech. Apple CarPlay also now comes standard." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1j1muQP8Xk

I have to agree. I was an early adopter, had one of the first models from DirecTV back in the early 2000's if memory serves. I very quickly became a big advocate, recommending them to everyone I knew. A DVR changes your TV viewing, forever. You will never go back.
