I’m very happy with the results. Wonder if I can get some Pilot Sport Cup tires for my rig.
Sport Cup 2 tires are excellent. I've had them before, and I think I want them again. They help you get all you paid for from your fun/sports car.
Sadly, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m stuck with all-seasons if I want to drive at both ends of the season around here. At some times the temps might be below freezing and those ultra performance tires get squirrely.

Finally read the C&D piece. Surprised to find they found the BMW bringing up the rear and for the reasons they cite. Steering and brake feel would not be the things I would expect to see a car like that downgraded for. I still find it hard to justify that ranking behind the Cayman though.
Not a bad car in the bunch; it depends on your priorities. The Ford dealers in the Louisville area are incredibly underwhelming on their best day, so for me the choice would be between the M2C and the Supra. In any case, a mild tune, R Compound rubber, and an M Performance LSD would put my five year old 2 Series in the same performance envelope as the four cars in that test. And honestly, if I bought a Mustang I'd truly miss getting flipped off by all the UAW workers in their brodozer F-150s...
Yeah, what fun would it be driving around getting awe and respect?😄

It's like a big box decorating catalog company staged it. Still, that place on that lot in my zipcode would probably be around 3MM. But, I am not in nowheresville TN, something something location.
1955 was a quantum leap year for many brands, not much metamorphosis. Ford kind of did the evolution thing with the 52-54 models, but Chevy especially went from that postwar pontoon styling right into 50s modern. IIRC Buick and Olds also kind of metamorphosed.
I grew up in the 50's and it was fun watching Detroit try to out-do each other with their designs and who could get that last piece of chrome on before the other guy. I feel bad for the kids today who have to put up with the same aerodynamic look for the sake of another tenth of a MPG increase. This is what happens when the government puts their nose in other peoples business. Don't get me wrong we needed the government to make cars safer because the manufacturers damn sure didn't care about safety but this everybody having the same look ain't no fun for us car guys. I damn near tried to open a Chevy the other day when I was driving my Genny. Maybe, I deserve that for buying a wannabe but to me they all seem to look alike.
Rant over.

LOL yeah it's the fault of the government that car designers are sycophant copycats, right. Cars are still fairly easy to differentiate, just takes some studying, just as it did 60 years ago. I suspect those in 1959 who remembered cars from 1900 complained too
I'd feel sorry for young people today facing the most expensive education system in history, an insanely competitive job market where productivity hasn't been rewarded, insane housing costs, even more insane medical care costs, shrinking economic mobility, etc, but for the cars they get to step into, no way.
My first "real" job, which involved putting bumper stickers (after asking for permission -- "sir would you like a free Aquarena bumper sticker on your car") on the cars that visited the tourist attraction back in 1960-61. In that capacity I was able to look closely at lots of late '50s and early '60s cars. Even then, I thought the '59 Cadillac was way over the line, but I liked the Valiants of the day, among others. My favorite then (and now, for that matter) was the Chevy Impala, either red with a white stripe or white with a red stripe. I visited the site last fall, and the whole area has been cleansed - no more Aquarena or anything similar. They did keep the glass-bottom boats.

OF, guess you're still at Enterprise? Still doing the Hertz gig but now working Saturdays from 9 till noon. Not sure when I'll stop but maybe sometime in 2020. Turning 65 in about a month and still feel that I can work a bit longer. Did try to get employed by Enterprise as they had a job offering right near my house but they never got back to me. Guess they were still pissed that I didn't take the job down by the Ft. Lauderdale airport I applied for a couple years ago. It really wasn't a good fit then and to get paid less per hour made no sense either. So will continue at Hertz until that day I wake up and say I'm done!

How many others on here have had to deal with fender skirts? My folks' '53 Pontiac had them, and getting them off and on wasn't trivial.
Yes, I had skirts on my first new car, a '66 Bonneville two door hardtop. It was a boat and held six people comfortably. Because of that I got to drive on a lot of double and triple dates. In the winter the skirts came off so as to avoid a build up of winter road crud. Come Spring, they went on again. I remember installing a Motorola reverberator (remember those) in that beast. That was the rage back then and I was happy that I had it. Lots of people liked it too.

One of our guys retired to Florida (N. Fort Myers) and applied to Enterprise down there. Unlike my area where we work (2) 10-15 hour days, averaging about 24 hours a week, down there it’s (3) 8 hour days with one being Saturday. He didn’t like that so he got a job driving seniors around to appointments. He’s 80 so some of his clients are probably younger than him. He was disappointed that Enterprise Florida didn’t match his needs.
You have to go for a job that fits. You don’t impress me as a guy who likes to sit around, do you have after retirement plans?

lol...all those things made me remember I saw the end of Happy Days just before the local news was coming on. The family was watching their black and white TV and they had the colored plastic you put over the screen to magically make your TV color. The family was complaining about the blue faces and green hands...but, hey, it was in color.

Wrong guess but that was a nice color too. In fact, if I bought the Grand Prix that was on the floor, that's the color I would have had. However, mine was a dark blue metallic with a light blue cloth interior that looked much better that the light blue vinyl that was an upgrade. When people saw it for the first time a lot of them complimented me about the looks of the interior. But that was only temporary untill they heard the reverberator. Funny thing about that reverberator, all the girls I dated liked it. When Mrs. j heard it for the first time she said, "your radio sounds weird. Is there something wrong with it"? Right then and there I knew she did know anything about cars. But eventually it grew on her. Got to the point when we double and triple dated, she'd say, "listen to this radio". Like I've said before, she's kinda slow with new techie stuff.
As for the parking whiskers, no I didn't have them nor did I have those wheels (mine had full hubcaps and I don't think those wheels were even a factory option) and my whitewalls weren't that big. They were a good bit narrower.

I found this Popular Science 60s era predicted future feature interesting because I watched a Tesla and a Lexus sport model of some type zooming in the left lane of the interstate Friday almost like they were racing. I wondered if the T was autopilot. The Interstate 70 splits 4 lanes into 2 off and 2 through on the left. Lexus took to the right hand 2 lanes and I believe it took the NB I75 ramp. The T was still in the far left lane--THEN it zipped between cars in the 3rd lane to get to the two exiting lanes by going through the gore area. Then it slowed drastically on the lane that takes I75 south like it or the driver was lost and had taken a wrong exit.
Maybe cars on driverless mode should have a flashing Blue Light special light on top to warn other drivers of the danger of wreck-causing operation.

I owned a new 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix in a dark blue metallic with light blue vinyl interior. It was a very basic car with the big engine and no AC. It also had a black vinyl roof, as most cars did in those days.
This morning, I called Sirius/XM since my 6 month subscription was about to expire next week. Before she had a chance to tell me about the available plans, I merely told her, "...if you can renew my subscription for another 6 months at the same $45.01 tax and fees included, I will renew my subscription. If you can't, just cancel my service effective next week when it expires." She merely asked me why only 6 months and why not a year. I explained that I rarely, if every, listen to satellite radio. So if I didn't have it in the car, I wouldn't miss it. So, she relented and extended my subscription for another 6 months at the above fee. It will be charged to my account at the conclusion of this subscription.
Now, that was the easiest subscription renewal I have ever experienced with Sirius/XM radio. Smooth as silk. It's about time!
They have Select Lite which I think doesn't include the streaming outside that vehicle.
I recently renewed. It was not pleasant. I think the next time I'll just pick a time when I'm not going to be driving much, cancel, and watch what they send me in the next month.
@tjc "neglected to turn it off" That happened with my car when it was at the end of the 3 month or 6 month trial as a new car. I kept waiting for XM to turn off and then I'd decide about renewing it.
I like the travel feature that includes being able to check gas prices as I drive thru areas on a trip. So I add that to the subscription. \ From what little I could glean about pricing, they want you to take Xm with streaming for a year with automatic renewal but at a teaser rate. I suspect after one year they hit you like Spectrum Cable (Charter) with huge price increases. Anyone know what happens after 1 year?
I do the same thing as @abacomike and haven't had an issue yet, YMMV. I'll need to decide what to do with the truck, we have a little over a month remaining of the free trial and have already started receiving the "renew now" emails but none are the $99 for 12 months deal, which is what it would take me to add another car to the account.

RE: XM... now that the streaming app is free I find I use that more than the service in the car.
So.. FYI if you have XM you can download the APP and listen on your phone or computer for no extra charge.
I didn't know the streaming app was free. I just set that up on my iPhone because I usually listen to music on my ear pods at night to help me fall asleep. Thanks for the info!
Because I am a Prime member, I stream Amazon Music on my iPhone as well at no additional cost - same thing with Prime Video on my cable network.
Stopped at the Honda dealer today to look at the Pilots. They had a Civic R in the showroom so I went over to look at it while my salesperson was coming out. One of the other salespeople said the R's are expensive after I commented that is was nice. I said 37k didn't seem too bad. He said it was 45k. They have an ADM on it.
I told him I don't buy cars from dealers like that and left.

I dropped Sirius and I love being free of them. Always a hassle canceling temporarily when we go to Florida (Canada is a separate division), marking on the calendar when I had to renew by, then going through the dance to get a decent price. And of course the anxiety I may miss the expiry date and I will pay more than double for the year. So nice to be FREE.................
Again, my yearly Sirius/XM promotional plan is costing me ~$5/mo.+fees, well worth it to me. I tell them I’m cancelling every year, then refuse the first two offers they give me until they offer me my desired plan. Always start with the cancellation department.

Next Wednesday, I am driving up to my brothers house in Ponte Vedra Florida to celebrate our birthdays together - most of you know we are twins. From West Palm Beach to St. Augustine, with few exceptions, there is nothing worthwhile listening to on the radio - lack of FM HD stations. I have loads of tunes on my iPhone, but I love Sirius Love ( ch 70) and 5-6 other channels on satellite radio. It is definitely worth the $45 every 6 months for commercial free music.
my daughter had it on the 1st Jetta (well, I had it, she listened to it!) but the 2019 did not come with it. She has not seemed to miss it, using various streaming services, and listening to lots of podcasts on her long commute.
I could probably do that for mine, though I am on the lazy side in terms of plugging in the phone and firing it up. Much easier to turn car on and radio is there, and I like to cycle through stations and doing that with my thumb is so much easier.
My wife, she needs it. She would never be able to deal with streaming, and I doubt it would even work in her current RDX very well. So that would leave her with FM radio, and probably not happy about it!
for the $10/month per car (or whatever it comes out to be) it is worth it to me to have.

It ended up with me getting very vocal and I said I called to cancel service on a car I'm turning in, either do it or give me to someone who can.
So that did it.. they refunded the partial month and have neglected to turn it off as it still works.
I didn't want to just add the Volvo because they will send me the one year deal near the expiration of the trial.

So.. FYI if you have XM you can download the APP and listen on your phone or computer for no extra charge.

I recently renewed. It was not pleasant. I think the next time I'll just pick a time when I'm not going to be driving much, cancel, and watch what they send me in the next month.
@tjc "neglected to turn it off"
That happened with my car when it was at the end of the 3 month or 6 month trial as a new car. I kept waiting for XM to turn off and then I'd decide about renewing it.
I like the travel feature that includes being able to check gas prices as I drive thru areas on a trip. So I add that to the subscription.

From what little I could glean about pricing, they want you to take Xm with streaming for a year with automatic renewal but at a teaser rate. I suspect after one year they hit you like Spectrum Cable (Charter) with huge price increases. Anyone know what happens after 1 year?

Because I am a Prime member, I stream Amazon Music on my iPhone as well at no additional cost - same thing with Prime Video on my cable network.

Stopped at the Honda dealer today to look at the Pilots. They had a Civic R in the showroom so I went over to look at it while my salesperson was coming out. One of the other salespeople said the R's are expensive after I commented that is was nice. I said 37k didn't seem too bad. He said it was 45k. They have an ADM on it.
I told him I don't buy cars from dealers like that and left.
I'm running out of dealers.

Now, I don't really even have a car of my own. Wife and I share the Outback, but mainly it's mine, as she rides with the daughter in the MINI.
