Of course if the Hindenburg was filled with gasoline it would have gone up even quicker and hotter, so that may not be a compelling argument.

If the Hindenburg was filled with gasoline no one for a mile would have survived. Google “fuel-air explosion”.

Chipmunks chewed on my wiring harness a couple of years ago. I started the car and it was running very rough and belching smoke with a flashing CEL. Had to have it towed to the shop where they found the damage and the short that was throwing off engine timing. Fortunate that I didn't damage the engine. Cost me a couple of hundred for repair. Ever since, the Bucket of Death has been in the chipmunk business ;)

I take it the bucket of death is where you place a half filled bucket with a ramp and some tasty bait.

Before I store my barn car I toss a lot of mouse poison everywhere and then salt the whole barn with mothballs. That’s worked so far. Having a cat helps too.

man, watching the news, and feel back for our Colorado contingent. What a mess. Also reminds me why I have no interest in every moving back up north. Central south (NC, tenn.) seems much nicer place.

I was channel surfing and switched to KTLA News out of L.A. thinking they might have some coverage of the Dodgers collapse last night. Instead it was constant helicopter coverage of a brush fire that was consuming mobile home parks in the Calimesa area of Riverside County. Scary how quickly it traveled given the windy conditions.

Well, I made it up here to Ponte Vedra. Torrential rains from Ft. Pierce to St. Augustine. 4-1/2 hours to drive 297 miles. Not bad considering the weather.

Good friend of mine wants to re-do his basement system, but wants it all more or less hidden.

We can do in-walls for LCR & surround, but I'm really trying to push him toward a traditional sub either next to the equipment rack OR in the area under the stairs.

He is thinking slim mount subs behind the TV cabinet or under couch

    Something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-133830-Ssw-10-Powered-Subwoofer/dp/B07K82KQTK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=KESEW0JWE22W&keywords=monoprice+slim+subwoofer&qid=1570710600&sprefix=monoprice+slim+su,aps,229&sr=8-1

    I'm thinking two at least.

Thoughts? This is a fairly low budget build as far as these things go. He was looking at some in wall subs, but I'm afraid they will rattle.

I'm not a fan of in-wall-subs; I'd look at these:

Yikes! How fast must he have been going to do all that damage.

Around here we just saw the first anniversary of a limousine crash that killed 20. Brakes failed on a long steep hill and the limo ran over a couple of people in a cafe parking lot before flying into the woods. Understandably a lot of emotion and finger pointing at the owners.

Then today they revealed the place where the limo was serviced falsified repair records and didn’t do the brake work they billed for. Brakes failed a few months later.

I remember that limo crash. Awful.

Here there is a bit of a kerfuffle going on about those pictures I linked. They were posted by a couple of different news orgs overnight on their websites. Some people on social media are trying to shame them for doing so. The argument is that the car is highly recognizable, the driver is in a fight for his life, what if family had not yet been notified, what if what if etc etc.

I think it is silly in that while the car is indeed unique to the city, where do you draw the line? If it was a white Corolla would it be OK to show them? Or if it was 12 hours later? Some are arguing such pictures should never be shown, which is a form of censorship I could never support. The argument is that they are only posted to attract clicks, or for ghoulishness. They even argue the same should hold true for house fires or other disaster pictures. I guess they do not value a free press in this age of safe spaces and the like.

BTW the only way I can post pictures is to find them online and post a link (format is shown in my post if you quote it). Cannot attach a local picture now for weeks.

I have no problems posting pictures from PC (WIN 10 latest build and Chrome). What I've been doing and works great is, just take a screen shot of the picture with Windows, then just CTRL-V in the posting window.

On mobile, you have to Request desktop site then it works fine (at least on Iphone)

I think that news outlets should withhold any information that would easily identify a victim until the family has been notified. Imagine finding out a close family member may be dead from a news report.

That limo company did have inspection failures, but obviously they took cars in to be fixed. Which IIRC the owner said at the time. The people at Mavis that did this likely being charged with murder now I assume. And should rot in jail.

Oh yeah, they were sleazy big time but it seems that the repair shop was just as sleazy. They charged for a brake fluid flush and a master cylinder replacement but didn’t do it. Later, the dirty brake fluid boiled and the lines ruptured. The limo should have been off the road for a number of reasons but the repair scam certainly contributed to the disaster.

So now the lawyers will be throwing blame around while 20 people are still dead.

Saw the BMW Genius Saturday, I had figured out most things either by reading the manual or just playing around with the car. However she was able to answer a few questions and clear up a couple of things I wasn't quite sure of. Overall it was a good experience.

Afterwards we took a drive in the country and went apple picking. :) It was a good day.

Picked up a bunch of brand new BMW 330i from a local dealer today. Not only did they not give us a genius they gave us the bum’s rush. We were told our cars were “out there somewhere” as he pointed towards the woods. We had to search a back lot full of cars in pouring rain and put the registration stickers and plates on ourselves. The dealer only included 2 screws for both plates so needless to say some of the cars were driving with plates hanging sideways.

Oh yeah, no gas in them at all.

We not only got the feel of the road but also the feel of a muddy parking lot.

They did have one of these in the showroom:

$156,000 sticker. Can you guess what it is?
    Is that an 840I?
Ugly grill. Do modern cars have to suck this much air?

"Never heard the term Sunny California? It's why we put up with high taxes that get wasted through misallocation and inefficiencies of grand proportions."

Sure, but my point had to do with not mentioning AZ, which has more hellish heat, especially in cities where people actually try to live, than any other state in the country.

You're right because your neighbor who calls you up has training and experience in delivering such news and will very likely have a grief counselor on line to help. And your neighbor will be able to answer many of the questions you may have, offer to take you to the hospital and refer you to others who may help you in this matter. So yeah no difference.

I'm speculating, but I suspect the driver was likely a student attending university here, either from Asia or the Middle East. Most of the supercars here in town are driven by those groups.

Interesting comment in the story about how the cars were not racing. Maybe not but it clearly was traveling very quickly. Aside from the damage to the Audi look at the hydrant that was collateral damage in the story linked. I've seen hydrants sheared off but never one shattered like that.

Hard to believe the passenger went to the hospital and was released. The R8 should get a 5 star rating.
I guess the Camaro wasn't racing...probably following and watching the action.
It was a nice R8 pre-accident, that yellow looks pretty good on what is left of it.

Mine is unresponsive if I use Edge, but it works with Chrome. Same with the emoticons. If I push the colon key emoticons show up and I can post them that way. :open_mouth:

That's what I have to do also. :disappointed:

At least Cleveland never willingly gave up their franchise. I think it would be sad if Cincinnati gave up on the Bengals. Cheering for a losing team is kind of its own bonding experience, and then when or if they finally make good, it’s really a point of pride for the city. Think of the Cubs. I’m still hoping for the Indians to win a World Series before I die.

Cincinnati is on top in something sports-related at least:

Well the Sonata is sitting happily in the driveway now. :)

What kind of warranty did they give on this new engine?

They extended the warranty on affected vehicles to 10 years 120k miles, the new engine will have the remainder of that warranty. so around 2 years and just over 20k miles.

Do you know if it is a "new new" engine or a new rebuilt one?

    Yes replacing the Fusion.
It's a Reserve 1 with Reserve upgrade pkg.
Heated steering wheel and rear seats and upgraded Revel sound system.
I've been wanting one for years and finally pulled the trigger.
Drove the exact same car, different color, last weekend and another dealer but I got this one about $600 cheaper on the bottom line.
