Tried out the lane departure feature. It pulls you back toward your lane if you drift to the side or vibrates the steering wheel if you change lanes without using your directional signal.

I still have to cancel the Sirius radio on my Fusion. Some of you will get a chuckle out of that
Good luck with that. They will probably offer you a screaming deal to keep it active for the next owner. More likely they will resist giving you a refund by offering to apply your unused portion to this vehicle after your free trial runs out, but link it to your credit card so that they can ding you automatically for a $200+ annual renewal at some future but as yet undetermined date.

For birthday and anniversaries, we declared a truce....no gifts. We buy the things we NEED. We go out to dinner or dinner and a play...or go way for a weekend.
Also, made a rule....absolutely NO surprise parties!
Buying the car was not completely straight forward today. First, they added $250 to the selling price of the car and claimed ignorance of their internet price until I showed them the price quote I got online from their dealership. They did get me on the doc fee for an extra $100(499 instead of 399). My original price for an extended warranty was $1895, but I countered with $1534 to match a quote I got online. We have purchased several warranties online from the dealership I got the quote from. They matched it. The car was supposed to come with all weather mats($120) but they couldn't find them so they gave me a better $170 set instead.
Very nice interior but claiming all your discounts must make you feel like you have fought a war. They tried to nail you on every possible item. Good thing you were well armed.
Drove 150 miles each way for Thanksgiving Dinner ( Turkey Day is on Monday in Canada) at my sister in laws. The E400 drove beautifully, nice to have the extra power, most people are driving about 80 mph on the highway. Nice to have power to pass the slow guys who like to drive in the left lane. And, Mrs. D liked the fact she could be in the car for 2 1/2 hours each way and didn't get a sore bum.
MB has had a "hold" function for several years. I like it - I use it at virtually every red light. Also works on hills (hill holder ideas are ancient, I know).
My car has a particularly intrusive lane departure system - vibration, then applies the brakes, even somewhat sharply. However, this can easily be switched off with a button on the dash.
Car has a 'Hold' feature so you can take your foot off the brake when stopped. Reminds of the Subaru hill holder feature. Tried out the lane departure feature. It pulls you back toward your lane if you drift to the side or vibrates the steering wheel if you change lanes without using your directional signal.

my TlX has the brake hold feature, a button next to the electronic parking brake switch. I use it once in a while so don't have to worry about keeping enough pressure on the brakes, or putting it in park instead.
The "fleet" continues to sail on. A friend and myself...mostly the friend, put on new brake pads and rotors on my son's Mercury Milan. Also, put on outer tie rod ends. First brake job I ever did. It was fun. I told my friend I thought I may be able to go "solo" next time. But, probably need to do the next brake job "solo, but with supervision" . I did strip that little screw that holds the rotor into the wheel hub. Oops. But, friend was able to drill it out. Started at 8 a.m and didn't finish until around 5 p.m. The slide pin had seized, rusty, had to clean it all up. Rotors were rusted. Took awhile to knock them loose. Average MPG went from 22.6 to 26.1 Saved about $600 in doing it ourselves. Had ordered the brake kit and the the rods off Amazon.
New rear brakes and rotors on a he wife's Veracruz. Had the dealership do that for $230, as we needed the car asap. Talked to parts manager. Good price, as doing it myself would have been around $200.
Daughter's car needs new front rotors and front tires. Mieneke says rotors warped, but pads are good at 8mm. Don't know about that. I've read you should probably replace the pads with the rotors. She lives near Cincy. So, trying to help her with that.
The Mercury Mariner is doing pretty good.
I saw this car listed on Craigslist yesterday. https://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/d/louisville-2015-hyundai-sonata-sport/6998110611.html Everything in the ad looks and sounds really good. Wife says, not a good idea.... :-(....she doesn't want to buy someone else's problem, and my next car will be a new one with the full warranty. Don't know if I'd rather go new over used at this time. Use to driving hoopties. :-) Only looking....as usual, but you never know.
Leaving for Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains Tuesday, so may go look at the car Monday while the wife is napping. Maybe pull out "The Jipst Method of Used Car Buying".. KBB is around $11,300 on the car. Edmunds TMV is around $9,300. Or, maybe I'll wait till wife wakes up and check out new cars. Who knows.

So do you really think the Milan has “timing issues” like the dealer told you or was that just a sales job to get 3 grand out of your pocket?
How many miles on the Mariner? A friend had one and faced a $1000 ball joint job at around 100k miles. Rather than spend the money on ball joints he bought my old Lincoln instead.
On the Sonata, I wouldn’t exactly call a 2015 model a hooptie. KBB in my area values it at between $10,200 and $11,900 with a mean of around $11,000. That’s for “excellent” condition so likely it’s not that perfect. For that kind of money I wouldn’t trust my own assessment skills so after a test drive I’d insist on a PPI as a condition of the sale.
I’m not a very aggressive negotiator so I would offer $10,500 if everything checked out. If they balked I would tell them the deal would be in $100 bills conducted in the police station lobby immediately upon a satisfactory PPI.

"On my round trip to my brother's place this week, I had the radio tuned to Sirius/XM channels the entire time. Definitely worth $44 (taxes and fees included) for 6 months including online listening. This is the 2nd consecutive six-month subscription I have had with them at the same price."

I checked my average speed from my brother's place to home yesterday - it was 70.4 mph at 32.2 mpg according to the dash read-out. That included a 20 minute stop for a hamburger. So you can imagine what speed I was going over 4-1/2 hours of driving - 79-80 mph. All I did was go with the flow of traffic. Several Florida State Troopers passed me in the left lane without even a look see at me. Speed limit was 70 mph.
I know that the base warranties only cover the original owner for the powertrain part from years 6-10. I suspect though that the special extended engine coverage will carry to subsequent owners.
Does the Hyundai extended engine warranty apply to owners beyond the first one?
I think it does apply to subsequent owners but I think that warranty is only on 2011-12 cars which had the failure problem. A 2015 would probably not have any problems.

Do I think the Mi!an has "timing issues"? I have my doubts. I took the car to another dealership for a free safety inspection a month or two ago, the service advisor said no codes. But, the way she said it,.made me think it wasn't put on diagnostics. Mieneke also said no codes when I took it in for an oil change and inspection. The car was on their diagnostics machine, but I don't know if Mieneke would have a machine advanced enoughth to pick up those kind of codes. No check engine.lights have come on since I bought the car. Maybe the code lights were disabled? Maybe I'm obsessed and paranoid? LOL. The car does have the tiniest of hiccups , can barely notice at idle....occasionally in drive., But, it might just need a tuneup. The car has 107,000 miles. BUT, since a coup!e of oil changes and some Seafoam, the car has gone from burning a lot of oil, to burning a little oil.
That was a bit of a joking exaggeration in calling the Sonata a hooptie. It's a really nice car. I was actually thinking of going as high as $10,300 if I made an offer. Splitting the difference between KBB and Edmunds. Yeah, next used car definitely gets an inspection.

Exactly. When I made the Edmunds TMV offer on the Milan, the owner looked at me like I was crazy. But, it is very difficult to find a one owner car on Craigslist, or anywhere, that has decent miles, has been taken care of, and hasn't been wrecked. I think the trade in value of that Sonata was around $8,700...or $9,300.
Sonata looks nice. I love that color. A bit steep on miles though by my standards. What is this supposed to replace in your collection?
looks like a good kids 1st car for HS/College.
Love that color as well. Some other reds...too much orange, or not red enough. Think it looks really good with the interiors black trim. If I bought the car, it would probably replace the Mariner...or the First car that has serious mechanical issues. LOL. No way my son would get to drive the Sonata. He's already had "mishaps" in 2 of the fleet vehicles.
I may have let slide one mishap with one of my cars. If they had a 2nd, the keys would be repossessed and their bike given a tune-up. thankfully, it was never really an issue. One minor bump by my daughter with the Jetta at college, that popped the edge of the front bumper cap but I pushed that back on and no issue at lease return.
A Class C license is probably required to legally drive this BST (big scary truck.)
Nah. I used to rent a Ryder Freightliner box all the time. 26' box, diesel, GVW 25,999. Just needed to be 18 and have a valid drivers license. They barely even showed you how it worked if you didn't bug them. Sign the papers, get the keys, off you go!

Tried out the lane departure feature. It pulls you back toward your lane if you drift to the side or vibrates the steering wheel if you change lanes without using your directional signal.

Using Edmunds TMV worked well when I bought the 2007 Kia Optima for my daughter, back in 2012. The guy came down and took the offer. It's been a really good car. Wrote about this one before, but before I bought the Milan, for my son, I had made an offer on a 2009 Sonata with really low miles. The owner started.out at KBB on price, then agreed to meet me in the middle of KBB and Edmunds TMV. So, Edmunds can come in handy as a negotiating tool. If only Judge Judy used Edmunds TMV instead of KBB. :-) Don't really hear of Edmunds TMV advertised or being used that much .
What did you end up selling the 626 for....in relation to Edmunds TMV?
When they cut off my "free trial" 6 weeks early, the only way they would reinstate it would be if I gave them a CC # to put on file. I told them to stuff it.
Miserable company with miserable business practices.

Unfortunately, Sirius/XM subcontracts their customer service with companies in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, etc., just like thousands of businesses throughout the planet. The company is only as good as the person you are talking to on the phone. Frequently, the service and communications are less than satisfactory.
You are correct in your assessment of the manner in which they do business. I have the same problem with my newspaper deliveries. They are rarely on time. But I end up talking to someone from Southeast Asia 13,000 miles away. It's a viscous cycle - no delivery problems are ever solved.
A blast from the past. We got daily morning newspaper delivery for many years, up until about ten years or so ago. It'll be interesting to see how long hard-copy printed newspapers hold out. I don't think it's' going to be very long. Florida will be the last to go.
When I filled up with gasoline to drive up to my brother's place, I paid $281.9 a gallon at Costco. Since Costco's up in Northeast Florida do not sell gasoline, I was forced to fill up for $3.37.9 a gallon. Ouch! 😩🤨

Come to think of it, it could not have been the 626 because I had that until after I was married, and I remember this TMV banter occurring at my parents’ house. So, sorry, I don’t recall. I can tell you I traded the 626 for $9k to a volvo dealer. LOL. Maybe the TMV discussion was about my Dodge Dakota, which was the last vehicle I sold off my parents’ lawn. I recall getting $14k or $14.5k on that. I believe trade-in was maybe $11k.

Who knows.

"I would not pay over $100 per year for satellite radio."

As usual, Edmunds values lower than KBB. Scotty Kilmer says KBB is in bed with the industry so they can’t be trusted. Quite a dilemma, do you go with Edmunds and risk insulting the buyer or maybe pay too much going with KBB. Maybe bring Edmunds printout as a bargaining tool. I wonder what the buy bid on that car would be at a dealer?

That was a bit of a joking exaggeration in calling the Sonata a hooptie. It's a really nice car. I was actually thinking of going as high as $10,300 if I made an offer. Splitting the difference between KBB and Edmunds. Yeah, next used car definitely gets an inspection.

I can't look at the "after" pics.
That’ll be the day that we catch you driving a pushrod engine. I’ve driven the 392 Challenger and it’s fun but too big and heavy. Why not buy a 300 (same platform) with a nice Hemi and AWD?

Wrote about this one before, but before I bought the Milan, for my son, I had made an offer on a 2009 Sonata with really low miles. The owner started.out at KBB on price, then agreed to meet me in the middle of KBB and Edmunds TMV. So, Edmunds can come in handy as a negotiating tool. If only Judge Judy used Edmunds TMV instead of KBB. :-) Don't really hear of Edmunds TMV advertised or being used that much .
What did you end up selling the 626 for....in relation to Edmunds TMV?
Miserable company with miserable business practices.
