    4. Dolittle
    5. Knives Out

1 was OK. Entertaining, although you really gotta bite your tongue for the first 30 mins because most of the incongruences get answered.
    2 was fun. Really amusing.
3 was not what I expected. A different story involving Fred Rogers rather than a biography of him.
4 was fairly lousy. Don’t know why RDJ had to put on the awkward voice and accent. Made understanding him difficult.

In between, the wife made me put together something for the boys to do while trapped inside besides TV and video games.
5 was REALLY good. Very enjoyable. I have a pic but can’t post of course. It is an arcade basketball court thing. Fairly substantial and took a couple hours to assemble.

@qbrozen, I agree with you about Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. We went to see that New Years Eve with 5 other couples before going out to dinner then to my youngest brothers place for the festivities after dinner. About a half hour into the movie I told Mrs. j I had enough. She wanted to know what I planned to do about that. I said, “I’d like to go out to the lobby, have a seat and smell the popcorn but I know that wouldn't be a very nice thing to do”. She advised against that too and said, “just go to sleep like you always do at the movies. I won’t poke you in the ribs like I always do unless you snore too loud”. So, I tuffed it out in between naps. She was probably right about me staying till the end because if I went to the lobby I would have surely bought the biggest tub of popcorn they had and ruined what turned out to be a very good dinner. FWIW, while at dinner someone asked what they thought of the movie. Less than half liked it and Mrs. j was one of them. Yep, every once in a while we agree on something.

Today I noticed that the Clubman's passenger side rear view mirror glass was beginning to separate from its mounting plate. Unfortunately, no repair shops were open today. I knew I risked causing expensive damage by attempting a repair-perhaps even setting the car on fire-but I gritted my teeth and used a toothpick to apply some cyanoacrylate gel to the mounting plate and held the mirror in place for 60 seconds. The repair seems to have worked, but I'm keeping my eye on it- and I'm making sure that a fire extinguisher is close by!

Unless BMW uses some exotic heating method I think those mirrors are all just glued in. The ones I’ve replaced just have a small electric heating grid on the back and a plug connector to the power system.
No glue is a match for Mrs. j when she backs out of the garage. I doubt even rivets stand a chance. :'(

That’s when you chase her around the dining room table. By the way, have you bought her the new dining room suite yet?
Although I’d like to chase her around the table for whacking so many mirrors, I’d be in trouble when I caught her and I WOULD catch her because I can still out run her. That would be playing right into her hands so that is definitely out of the question. As for getting her a new dining room suite, that is out too. I won that battle long ago but it took the help from one of her childhood friends that said something like, “are you crazy? I always liked this dining room suite. If you don’t want it, I’ll buy it”. Got any more bad suggestions that would hurt me? :@

Have someone check the TP holders in your place. They took the cash just to cover what they were actually after.

I have better information, it was our roof that they broke through and then broke through the wall into the grocery store. They were after their funds, they cut open the safe and the best guess was that it took them 5 or 6 hours.

The only drawer that was opened was the one labeled "petty cash" all others remained locked, so the only thing they got from us was the petty cash and a much bigger cash deposit that the boss was going to make on monday. TP information stayed secured. They were hitting the grocery store we were just the avenue in. Police think it was an inside job since their method on entry suggests they knew the set up of the back areas of the store and where the safe was.

Edited to add: Just as I hit post I realized by TP you didn't mean Tax Payer. :'(

Inside job you say? Is that a knock on your door I hear? Cheating on your taxes is a safer way to get money that isn't really yours to keep. We'll get a collection going and send you a card and a few Christmas presents. :'(

I can't watch fantasy stuff. I know some people love it, and that is OK, we are all different, but, just saying, to me it is like watching fluff....stuff that isn't real, didn't happen, won't happen.

Once I tried to read a sci-fi book...guess it was really a Fantasy, there is a difference, and when I read about the purple bird flying tn a pink sky I had enough...it is like wasting my life away.

Thanks for mentioning the trippy part Q....it will save me the $5 but more importantly, 2 hours of my life.

My son and I plan to watch The Crazies again(we saw it in the theater back in 2010)- it demonstrates how things could be MUCH worse:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7w9uWFIMBs

That was a great B movie. I was just thinking how many horror movies have had the virus premise. No wonder people are behaving the way they are.

Speaking of which, I stopped at the supermarket today. I figured after a week the hoarders would have shopped enough. No dice. No tissues. paper towels or toilet paper.

I’m starting to feel like I’m living in a Seinfeld episode.

This morning, I got in my car and drove over to Costco and put 7 gallons of PUG in my tank which filled it up to the brim. I just could not justify missing this opportunity to purhcase PUG at $2.15 a gallon. Of course, next week, when the price drops below $2.00 a gallon, I won't be able to purchase gasoline. I just took satisfaction that I bought PUG at a price I have not seen in 20 years or more.

My son purhcased RUG for his car at Costco in the Palm Desert, CA area for $2.49 a gallon. He told me that PUG was $2.69 a gallon. I just don't understand how people can afford to live in Southern California where I used to live. Between DMV registration costs ($500+ a year for a new car whose price is around $29,000, way more for expensive cars), sales taxes at or above 8-1/2 percent, State Income Tax at about 10%, rents over $2000 a month for a two bedroom apartment, food costs that are astronomical, I can't fathom why California attracts people. Although, I read somewhere that residents of California are leaving in droves to live in Nevada and Arizona and New Mexico and Texas where it is much cheaper to live.

Do you think you are the only one with DIY ability?

No, it's pretty common around here...we change car fuses and smoke detector batteries all the time.

    jmonroe
Be careful Mr DIYer.....did you know those old 9 volt batteries can go up in flames if you don't throw them away properly? (short version watch from 1 minute to 2 1/2 minutes)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoAO1S5w7KM
I guess you're telling me you had to watch that flick to find that out. I knew long before they made that flick how not to improperly dispose of 9 volt batteries. I ALWAYS put tape across the terminals of 9 volt batteries just like they showed in that flick when I throw them away. Thanks for incourageing me to waste a few minutes of my life that I'll never get back. :@

    jmonroe
Of course....I should have known you would know this. So, why didn't you tell us about it before....would be more informative than telling us how you sleep through the movie. That is time I will never get back!
Do you really think I can teach you everything I know in one fell swoop? I'll just spoon feed it to you as needed. B)

    jmonroe
Spoon feed me all your "useful" wisdom....that should take about 12 minutes. :D

PUG is going for around $2.69 here, in the downtown area of Chicago its north of $3.00 per gas buddy. RUG is just shy of $2.00 but I did see it at one place for $1.7something, but I dont think anyone here would stop at that place.

@Mike, you should have only put in about 3 gallons. Then when the gas prices dropped further you could have gone back and bought more. Even if the price went up you could still buy it. Sorta like dollar cost averaging.

@driver100, are you paying attention to this. Some of the spoon feeding I was talking about. ;)

Leaving in droves. People come and go in California all the time. It’s the most populated state by far. One of every 8 US residents lives in California. Yes, it’s very difficult for ordinary folks to buy property on the coasts — unless you inherit it, which many do. I don’t mean mansions, I means small 2 and 3 bedroom houses like where I live. Inland of course is cheaper. It’s all relative.

about 40 miles from my house I saw Gulf at $1.95. RUG. by my house, per gasbuddy, The cheapest I saw earlier was $2.05 but I just looked again, and another Gulf (oddly a place that is usually higher than other places) is now at 1.99.9 Most PUG is at 2.50+, but one Coastal is showing at 2.31.

lots of places with no prices reported though. either not selling much since no one is driving, or people just aren't reporting prices.

I dunno about CA shrinking in population, but growth has slowed to a generations-low rate. Seems many from there are still moving to WA and OR, and turning this region kind of into Bay Area or LA part II.

    Still growing, though

Must be the weather. Fun place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. There must be a bit of dynastic money there along with maybe favorable property tax policies keeping oldsters in place (taxes based on original purchase price rather than real value, so the lucky ones who bought back when normal working people could do so pay a pittance).

I figured I would like The Bridge of Spies before it came out because about 8 months before it came out I heard the writer of the book discussing it when he was on a national talk show with Jim Bohanan. The writer of the book said it was pretty much as he wrote it but he allowed a little bit of Hollywood to be used in the making of the movie.

Well, this is a true story. Kind of. In typical hollywood fashion, they take liberties.. But, no, to be honest, there is nothing there you couldn’t get from reading a 20-min article (if that). If you have interest, here is the article, the creation of which is the basis of the movie: https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a27134/can-you-say-hero-esq1198/
Thanks QB, I'll check it out again. Generally, I like biographies - often they are stranger than fiction, and I can learn something while watching. American Hustle was more incredible than a story that could be made up. Movies like American Rhapsody or Rocket Man tell incredible stories - about real people. Usually people who make it against all odds.

@Mike, you should have only put in about 3 gallons. Then when the gas prices dropped further you could have gone back and bought more. Even if the price went up you could still buy it. Sorta like dollar cost averaging.

@driver100, are you paying attention to this. Some of the spoon feeding I was talking about. ;)

Brilliant! About 10 years ago I talked about amortizing large payments over time, so it seems like less money. You finally learned about it and plagiarized it. :(

There you go again twisting things to suit your argument. One of these days your going to twist yourself so tight that when you snap into unwind we're never going to be able to find you. That's a dangerous way to go about trying to win an argument and getting in the last word.

Wife and I loved both of those. Watched Rocketman twice.

We are both big Hanks fans. Countless viewings of Gump, Castaway and even the older stuff like Big and Money Pit.
