Unfortunately, if a person has to put $18,500 on their credit card, then they probably shouldn't have a credit card. They should take out a loan or arrange a line-of credit....to put that much on a credit card is ridiculous, unless it gets paid off immediately.
I am pretty sure I only charged something on my credit card once that I couldn't pay off at the end of the month. This would have happened about 30 years ago, my TV broke, I wanted one fast, I think the TV I bought was about $800. I knew I could pay about $400 a month....so I decided to get the TV and make myself pay it off in 2 months. It made sense to me, I'd have the TV, and though I'd pay a premium amount of interest, at least I had a TV for those two months...it made sense at the time.
It makes sense now too.

Looks very nice. I guess Mrs. @venture picked that out.
BTW, that backsplash looks very familiar. Son #1 found it at Home Depot. We’ve installed that in our first 2 flips but when he told our real estate agent he planned to get a more upscale backsplash for flip #3 she said, “ DON’T DO THAT, because I like it and more importantly I got very good feedback on that tile with your first 2 flips. So don’t feel just because this house (flip #3) is a more upscale house it needs a more expensive tile”. When I said that he disagreed with me. FWIW, we also install that as the backsplash for all of the vanities and as an accent strip in the tub and shower areas.

Interesting that you say that. When we bought our first flip an old washer and dryer were left. Both were Kenmore and white but not matching models. They worked fine and we used them a few times to wash rags etc. As old as they were they did a good job. When we sold the house my Son asked the buyer (a real estate company who planned to rent it) if they wanted them. They said, “OH NO, get rid of those. We’re going to install new ones. That’s our standard policy when we rent a house that’s been redone like this one”. When my son listed them on Craigs List he got more replies than he could count and sold the pair for $150 to the first responder.

I think this is the sink. It's a surface mount because the garbage disposal is too heavy for an undermount. I'm not particularly fond of the look of an undermount so it wasn't an issue.

I have to get done redone. There is a local place that does the glass. Can either have them make new and come install, or for a lot less pop the sash, deliver it and the will make and install hew glass. A bonus to that, they reuse the old internal grids so m sure they will match.

There is a company I found that does that here - it was surprisingly difficult to find one that wanted to take on the work. Some of my windows are from the late '80s so it was no surprise that a few developed internal fogging. The first time I used the company I think it was just over $100 for them to supply the new window glass unit and install it. Last time, a few years ago now, I believe it was $300. They come in to measure things up and return a few weeks later to do the install. One time the guy showed up with a window glass that was way too small because someone had misread his writing on the order, so I'm glad it wasn't my measurement that was responsible for them having to reorder. But watching the effort required to get off the old stops and free up the window made it worth it to let them do it all. Some of those things were really stuck.

Mine are casements. Most are two panes side by side with one being fixed in place. Those ones were a real bear to remove.

When I moved in here there was a matching Kenmore washer and dryer set in the basement. The dryer needed a service call for a belt and the washer needed a new pump a few years later. On that visit I asked the service guy their age and he said they were mid-80s, so they were around 20 years old then. I asked him if I should start planning to replace them and he said definitely not, that they were better-built than what was available new at the time. Unfortunately the washer failed again in 2010 and it was deemed terminal, so for the last 10 years I have had another set, but I don't expect them to have such long lives.

Thanks for the info....the price is about the same as the one we saw. Our current one is undermount, the new one will be overmount. He is coming on Thursday to see if that sink can be installed....and it will need a new garbage disposal unit too. There are similar faucets...just have to find the right one.
Mine are double hung tilts. Popping out is not hard. The new glass is $100-$130 for mine (based on size) and I have 3. So about $330 if I bring them in. Same almost cost to have them make the glass in advance (though that requires new grids). But bringing them out and replacing on site was another $350 or so. Therefore, ill pop them out a pod put back in! Only issue, means a wide open window potentially overnight (but there is a screen)
Met with neurosurgeon this morning. Only option now is surgery - probably next week or the week after. He is going to decompress the foramen on both sides of L3/L4 and remove some bone to make a wider canal. He said the procedure would take about 2-3 hours and 2-3 days in the hospital, depending upon my immediate recovery. He does not want to do a fusion at this time because he feels this is the least restrictive solution to my back pain.
I was super-impressed with his mannerisms and the amount of time he took with me to make sure he had my entire back history. I was in his treatment room with him for over 1-1/2 hours - very mild-mannered and very patient with me. All I need now is my primary care physician to give me a medical clearance and I am sure he is going to require me to see my cardiologist for cardiac clearance. That's it!

Friday, Nov. 12th at 7:30 AM is the date and time for the surgery - got a call from surgeon’s asst. late this afternoon. Have to have a Covid test this Thursday or Friday, according to surgeon’s office.
@abacomike, I’m glad you’re not having a fusion also. The decompression laminectomy should be a much quicker and less painful recovery. I anticipate that you will have much if not complete relief of your pain. Here’s hoping for the very best results!
BTW, is Broward Health North Hospital the former Holy Cross Hospital or are they different?
Sure wish they could do that for my spinal issues but the few surgeons I've seen have all said I'm just not fixable. The last guy likened my spine to a broken zipper and sad I'd need almost a new upper new lower spine to be pain free. My only choice is to take opiates to mask/lessen the pain so am able to function and work. I still love working at my current job so I need the meds to let me do that. Haven't been back to the local Toyota store here in Margate to basically quit that shuttle job. The one job at Enterprise will be enough to be honest, I only tried the shuttle gig to prove I could do it. Wanted all those folks to know that folks with even a slight disability can actually do the job, walking with a cane is not a liability in any sense of the word! I proved that I can do it but working so many hours is kind of doing me in though. Think if I only had one of the jobs, I'd be just fine. The Enterprise job is the easier one and has the majority of hours so it's the one I'll keep. Just have to stop in on Thursday, give back their shirts & say thank you for the opportunity. Best to leave in a positive way so if someone else who has an issue comes in to apply for this job, want them to also get a fair shot at it and not be told that we tried that and it didn't work. Leaving in a negative way might foster that wrong scenario, and leaving in a positive way is just the best way forward.

They are different. Holy Cross is at Commercial and Federal Highway in Ft. Lauderdale. Broward Health North is just east of I-95 on Sample Road in Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach area in far North Broward County.
Broward Health has 3 major hospitals - Coral Springs, Pompano Beach and the main hospital is near Federal Highway and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. That’s where I had my liver resection when I had liver cancer.

My friend told me this guy he knows has a Lincoln Navigator that is under warranty. The windshield washers didn't work properly....the multi-speed stopped working. He took the car in to be repaired. When he came back to get it they had it up on a hoist, and they took the transmission out to fix the wipers. He asked them what the transmission had to do with wipers. They told him the wipers operate based on the amount of water that lands on them, and they also rely on input of the engine speed, which comes from the transmission. The owner said, he was glad it was fixed under warranty, but he doesn't want to keep the car for a long time, repairs like that could get costly.
I'm not sure if this is true, but it came from a reliable source - my friend, not sure about the Navi owner.

to me, it depends on if the gadget is worth repairing if it is something that can be bypassed. So if the wipers can work on a fixed instead of variable setting, just use that.
I recall when I had the Odyssey some people if the power doors acted up would just remove the motor and cables. The door worked perfectly fine manually, and it just wasn't worth paying a lot of money to fix that.
Car Wizard just had a video on a 2012 Bentley Continental. one problem (unfixable) was some motor that IIRC soft closed the trunk lid. So I think you had to close it manually (maybe just give it the final push). Turns out that replacement motors were unubtanium, and the old one unfixable. So, might as well just disconnect it and just close the trunk lid by hand, like nature intended!
actually I am still not a fan of power tailgates, but they at least make some sense. but a power trunk lid on a sedan just seems ridiculous. same with power door closers. Just unnecessary complexity and something that is going to be expensive down the line.
The Blackbird wasn't real though, was it? I don't know. Just asking.
But Tron was? lol! I was merely pointing out that their new design isn't new at all.
Yeah. I get that. I don't know what a Tron is though.
I wasn't advocating for or against the thing. Just wanted to get the info out there.
It just has some "different" features like the wheels blink when the turn signals are used. The guidance system reminds me a lot of the one in Flight of the Navigator.
Wasn't Windows 10 supposed to be the forever Windows, with updates doing all the needed changes to keep it working well. Microfuss said it didn't like having to keep track of updates for different versions of Windows at the time, so they were transitioning everyone to the forever Windows #10.
You're lucky the computer you have is upgradeable. None of mine seem to pass the test.

Friday, Nov. 12th at 7:30 AM is the date and time for the surgery - got a call from surgeon’s asst. late this afternoon. Have to have a Covid test this Thursday or Friday, according to surgeon’s office.
It’s being done at Broward Health North Hospital.

The last time we courteously shipped back the original package when it came several days
late and unannounced.

BTW, is Broward Health North Hospital the former Holy Cross Hospital or are they different?

Maybe it looks better in person
And I still liked it in 2011 when MB made a Tron-inspired concept.
Can't say I like it as the AVTR.

I was merely pointing out that their new design isn't new at all.

I wasn't advocating for or against the thing. Just wanted to get the info out there.
It just has some "different" features like the wheels blink when the turn signals are used. The guidance system reminds me a lot of the one in Flight of the Navigator.

You're lucky the computer you have is upgradeable. None of mine seem to pass the test.

Wait… you know Flight of the Navigator but not Tron? You are joking, right?
