    @driver100:

Nope!  That would be throwing away money.  The ordering guides will be available to my dealer in January for production runs of the 2017 E Class which is due to be unveiled in mid to late April of 2016.  There will be new color exteriors and new interiors.

I am seriously considering White exterior with a Red, Maroon or Saddle interior leather.  I don't know which E Model yet because they have not yet been disclosed.  That inline 6 cylinder engine sounds interesting depending on the delivered horsepower - must be 320+ or I will have to opt for the E 400 again but with the 350+ horsepower revision.

They are going to have them on display at the November/December auto show so I'll know more in 4-5 months.

I didn't realize it would be out so soon. I wonder if they will have a hard time selling 2016s - which they don't seem to be promoting...guess they are really the same as a 2015.

The white with maroon, red or saddle interior sounds really nice...I think I would look into that next time too.

I think the big styling change will be the rear end which will look more like an S Class or new C Class. Personally, I like the older styling better....but, I'll probably get used to it I guess.

I am sure imid was joking.....I hope :D

Well, I guess they both have 2 tailights and a license plate in the middle.

But, actually both designs and many others used today seem to be copies of the ridiculed Bangle Butt design.

I didn't like this design on the 2003 5 Series, but today I think it looks pretty nice. It seems to me a lot of cars have copied that look to some degree, by having a raised trunk and lower rear fenders and rear lights.....just like the 2017 E Class.

Hopefully the 2017 E class makes the 2015/2016 seem like an antique. Because they are on my list of possible options in 2 years when my lease runs out (getting an E400 or E350 CPO or slightly used!).

That is a clever saying. Most designs are a rework of something that has been done before. If it is too radical, people won't like it anyway.

"Congratulations, Mrs. Fezo. It's an appendix!"

Well, it will be as soon as it's out. She'd been a little out of kilter for a couple of days, felt noticeably bad last night but we were still scheduled to go into NYC this morning and overnight for my follow up tomorrow.

This morning she was probably in more pain than when she had our second daughter. Off to the ER. Cat scan says appendicitis and so did the doc with the tell when it hurts test.

Been hanging I the hospital all day. Just waiting fortune to finish. She'll stay a night or two.

well, how about Lexus? they are copying no one, since no other maker has ever made a front end so hideous. And yes, that includes the '59 Plymouth, and any other car of that vintage.

Just quick. I've been pretty much in the hospital for 14 hours with a brief break (which is more than she got) and am shot and have to head to the city early.

It was a perforated appendix which made it a closer call to disaster but all went well. She's out of it and looking pale but a lot of that is coming off anesthesia. Other than maybe an extra day in the hospital and more antibiotics than a standard appendectomy all is well.

Yesterday, while I was a couple hours away at a gig she's painting the living room with appendicitis. That's how she is. She said my daughters did most of the work because she kept tiring. There's a surprise.

Daughter #2 is here for a few days to help cover. With any luck before she leaves I can hand the 04 Camry off to her.

I'll be out of touch a bit but all is well.

Plymouth had pushbutton transmissions around 1958....I know, I had one. Great if you're on ice, just keep pushing Drive then Reverse.......and probably ruin your transmission but it was fun pressing those buttons.

And Edsel had push buttons built into the hub of the steering wheel.....maybe leading the way to having buttons on the steering wheel.

But the new Lincoln does have push buttons too...............another old idea brought back as new! The buttons are to the left.

That's bad placemen for transmission selector buttons. A passenger missing the mark on the screen to press "AM" could end up pressing "N" or "R" at 70 mph? Or 15 mph?

My understanding is that hitting the P or R buttons at speed will result in the vehicle going into neutral. Hitting N at speed won't hurt the car - it's just like shifting from D to N on normal shifter at speed.

I agree with your assessment of that Lexus grille.  I can see it on their sporty sedans and coupes (IS 250/350 and the GS 350). But then they extended it to the LS 460 and the ES 350 as well as the SUV's.  I think the LS 460 should have a sophisticated looking grille - not a "dragon mouth" for a grille.

But, Mercedes has done similar grille look-alikes - but the S Class still has the 4-5 slatted horizontal grille.  The GLA, the C and the E all have similar grilles.  But at least it's a bit tamer and more sophisticated than the Lexus grille.

Yeh, they could have taken out the lower half of the grill and made it smoother without all the extra chrome at odd angles like you mentioned. In a way, white is worse because then the grill really contrasts and stands out even more. How could they do that?

You would think they would learn when Acura lost customers with their awkward grills:

    2008 looked fine...wouldn't offend anyone:

Then they really uglied it up in 2011:

That is one ugly looking front end of a vehicle. Definitely overdone, in my opinion. The grille looks like the mouth of some hungry and ugly looking dude that I would not want to meet on a dark street one night. I can't believe that a majority of the people who saw that grille would say they liked it!!! The front end looks like the car hit a chrome fence head on as it bent in the middle.
