I was thinking....all they had to do was point the arrows out instead of in.......I don't know if this was supposed to be part of a Union Jack but the arrows would be excellent....if they pointed out instead of in.
And then all the British people would be screaming that you put them backwards.
Still one of the dumbest designs I’ve ever seen. Kinda surprised with all the safety nanny types in this world that dictate auto safety that this design wasn’t squelched before production.
As one of our poster buddies said awhile back about auto design in general…”car manufacturer design departments should have mandatory drug testing”.

Congrats. Now time for the driving school class so he can get a permit! That was fun times…
Was just learning about that yesterday from a friend. Mandatory class I gotta pay for? What a racket. My high school provided it for free, and it wasn't anywhere near the 60 hours they say now that you need.

I was behind an Audi S3 this AM at an intersection. Its LED taillights/signal lights are an arrowhead shape when illuminated but point towards the center of the car. They do have a sequential 3-segment LED "line" on the bottom of the arrowhead that is animated and moves in the direction of the intended turn, but still...

I had to do the same when our daughter was 16. Thankfully she had a good, patient instructor who was able to observe and identify which driving skills and knowledge of hers that needed reinforcing.

Drivers Ed in HS now is just classroom. The on road part you need to get from a drivers school. I think it was 4 hours behind the wheel ? Around that. Then you could take the kid to DMV to get their permit so you can take them out.
Given how poorly most adults drive might be a smart idea! And at least if they are going to hit something right away it’s not in your car.
I checked. It’s 6 hours behind the wheel in a dual control car.
Also only required to get the permit at 16. If you wait (I think just to 17) you can go straight to getting a permit. My kids both did the age 16 option.

I got my full driver's license when I was 15 in New Orleans. About 6 weeks after we moved to Europe for two years. No more driving. Cruel and unusual punishment.

My son's 16th bday today. Born on 2/22 at 1:22pm.
I sent my son to the two day teen school at the BMW Performance Center and followed that up with the Street Survival course which allowed him to learn how his 1975 ‘02 handled at the limit. Thinking back, the fact that I put my son in a 35 year old car really stirred up some of the hand-wringing bed wetters on a few forums.

Saw a near-newsworthy incident today. I had pulled into a parking spot in front of the pharmacy I use. They have a row of nose-in parking, a 4'-5' wide sidewalk, then a glass front wall/entry. A Hyundai Santa Fe that had actually cut me off somewhat to get in front of me entering the lot parked in one of the nose-in spots, and I parked in the spot to their immediate left.
I was gathering my things and about to exit the ATS as I noticed the driver's door of the Hyundai open and a woman start to get out. The SUV suddenly shot forward, hit the curb and tried to vault over it as the woman, who was half in and half out, clung to the door. She had obviously left it running and in gear and was distracted by something or someone, perhaps her gal pal in the passenger seat. It got near the top of the curb and then rolled back. I could imagine that it that curb was just a bit lower the glass wall would have taken a hit and likely shattered.

I was curious but I don't want pop-ups so I didn't go on the ad. I know it's a scam, but what are they going to claim is the secret....I am curious.

Readers may have seen an advertisement in recent years that showed a can of WD-40 spray being pointed at a car’s gas tank.
WD-40’s official product description says that the spray can “protect metal from rust and corrosion.” The company sells a line of “lubricants, penetrating oils, cleaners, and rust removal products.”
The ad in question read: “The One And Only WD40 Trick Everyone Should Know (Restwow).”
We clicked the ad. It led to a 70-page slideshow article that was filled with more ads. In fact, the pages were so full of ads that our laptop fans began spinning at max speed.
None of the 70 pages mentioned anything about spraying WD-40 at a vehicle’s gas, diesel, or petrol tank.
@henryn Thanks for the info...I didn't think to check snopes or something. I went on a similar ad to try and copy it and my laptop started flashing like crazy, I thought it had been cooked. I turned it off and it is fine....but it probably started flashing through all those ads....what a scam! Some of those side ads look really interesting......but I will try to avoid them no matter how curious I am.

20 years ago? twenty years ago I already had 20 years of driving experience and then some. Anyways when I took drivers ed our school had their own vehicles and one of them had hand controls for disabled students. Well guess which car I got to drive and I went through drivers ed the same time a disabled student was going through it. We were told we couldn't change the drivers seat so all 6 foot 2 of me was crammed into a drivers seat that was almost all the way forward. So trust me when I say I know what a sardine feels like.

There is a motorcycle dealer that has a youtube channel that does strange things with motorcycles and one of them was running a motorcycle strictly on WD40. It seemed to work in the short run, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The safety nannies that have given us all these safety do-dads think they have made the roads safer when in fact they made it worse because too many drivers think their cars will save them.
I think the only way we can make the roads safer again is to go back to the horse and buggy and start over again. Then in 100 years they can rinse and repeat again. They’ll never get it right but you gotta keep trying.

Tomorrow will be the end of my first week in the field totaling cars. I spent a ton of time in junk yards 20-25 years ago but never one this big or active.
Most of mine were small and generally in rural areas. They were pick up part places not set up like this at all.
Literally as far as the eye can see totaled cars. I would guess 3,000-4,000 at any given time.
Looks like a sad Jetta or Passat top left. The profile of the two is similar. I have to wonder how frequently more damage is incurred by lifting the cars with that huge forklift.
