Something for Craig. Watching an episode of "house hunters renovation", and the people on the show just bought (and are now tearing apart) a circa 1960 spanish style rancher on a hillside in San Pedro CA.

would be curious if he recognizes it!

speaking of buying and selling homes, I met with a realtor yesterday at our old house to put that back on the market. The renters aren't interested in staying past their current least. I hope it sells this time because I am really not cut out to be a landlord. Too much stress taking care of 2 houses.

Tell me about it, when the daughter and her family moved to VA they couldn't get rid of their house so they rented it. Well since they are now 750 miles away from their house and were 4.5 miles away guess who gets to go there to take care of things at the house.

The TTS is too fast for sport-bikes to get in my way in the twisties, I didn't flash them today, but I will in the future to signal they shouldn't try to stay in front of me. Mesa Grande and Palomar mountain have great roads.

Sports bikes should leave you far behind in the twisties. They have a much higher power to weight ratio, low center of gravity and a high degree of lean. If you kept up with them they either wern't trying or were not skilled enough.
Hmmm... well, it seems even the most aggressive sport-bike drivers/riders don't want to push 2 wheels as fast and confidently as 4 wheels on the ground. I realize with the weight on mostly 2 wheels the inside wheels don't do much, but this is a real-world road, not a track. Very tight turns, turn after turn.
It would depend very much on the bike. First question was it a sport bike or did it look like one, second what sport bike is it. There are some "sport bikes" with small engines (125 cc's) which you would watch in your rear view mirror and there are liter bikes (1000 cc's or more) that post some very impressive performance figures. The problem is they sacrifice some handling characteristics to be able to handle the raw power. This means that the TTS would have the advantage going into the curve but coming out of the curve and on straight aways the liter bikes would smoke most cars.

A smaller bike with a smaller engine (say 600 to 800 cc's) won't take off out of the curve as fast but could handle the turn a lot better.

Also remember it is a lot more difficult in operating a bike over a car so it takes more skill to be able to push the bike to it's limits.

There's a guy at work who has his own backyard repair business and claims to have modified his 3.0L BMW 3 series to get 390hp at the wheels so I guess it can be done.

If it's a 335i it's not that hard to get 390 hp at the wheels- although engine longevity will likely be affected.

Another story from this past weekend: two younger guys dropped by to see what a track event is like; both had previous generation Mustang GTs with the Track Pack. One of the other instructors and I took them out for rides. That instructor has a seriously modded E30 M3 with a M52 swap; he's a little more aggressive than me, as he usually hits over 130 on the main straight and doesn't brake until the last marker(I only reach a tick over 120 and brake at the second marker). In any event, both guys are now hooked and we'll probably see them at the next event.

Ah, a relic from the GM "Sea of Grey" interior era.

Seems to be in nice condition. I am always wary of cars from the Volo "museum" though as they often imply museum quality for stuff that is far from that. This one, though, sounds legit.

The Volo museum isn't all to bad. The term "museum quality" is simply a buzz word that basically means that it looks the same as its original condition.  This does not mean that it is in excellent condition or that it even runs. All it really means is its good for display and/or research.

Well, they seemed to have trouble with ball joints, something that has only been in use for over 50 years, so something new-fangled like a pull-down sunshade might well give them problems.

Thanks - looks like something to stick your oar in while rowing down a river. Or a gun mount for shooting muskrats down by the swamp. :)

Had one done a few years ago on the Quest and the tech just used suction cups to manhandle the glass around.

The windshields on our Versa and Note are fairly large and angled back flatter than a lot of vehicles from the short hood to the roof line. Not quite a skylight, but getting there :)

I do like how BMW makes sure the M235i coupes are track ready right out of the box and shoot! Proper quality correctly sized light 18" wheels with proper Michelin Pilot Super Sports; that's the way to do it!

The 20" wheels on the TTS; I suspect more for looks than for the advantages of a slightly wider rubber band tire.

Due to my spinal issues, have a detailer come to the house and for $40, does an outstanding job. Have all four done twice a year as South Florida sun is brutal on painted finishes. Only the A3 and Golf are garaged every night but the Versa has a covered parking spot which is a nice thing, my kid rents a condo right now. When I was able, I used to go to the Harley store and buy motorcycle wax which could also be used on cars. Wasn't that expensive and left a brilliant shine with outstanding protection. Senior moment as I've forgotten the name of the wax.
