We have had a very hot summer this year - one of the hottest on record. Additionally, we have had 135% of our normal rainfall these past few months. Rainy Season or not, that's a lot of rain.
Today, we are again at 90 degrees F. It is supposed to be the same over the next week or so, but with even more rain. The average temperatures of the ocean along the coast this year was 90 degrees F - yet another milestone. Average ocean temps are 86-88 degrees F.
Hmm, maybe there "is" something to this global warming thing. Our electricity bills have really been out of sight as well - 20% higher than last year.
Can't wait until the first cold front of the year comes through to cool things down a bit.
Two weeks ago my wife was run over a by a negligent texting "walking not looking" coworker. She fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes. No immediate problem except for the embarrassment of exposing her granny bloomers.
Two days later she started feeling pain all over her body as if run-over by a Mack Truck. She has been to the hospital three times but the pain persists. She is thinking of suing the municipality for pain and suffering but she is only two days away from retirement.
Ordinarily such workplace incidents are handled by workers compensation. If she files a workers compensation action the workers comp benefits will be less than her retirement benefits. What should she do?....to sue or not to sue?
Since the ice caps have increased in area in the last two years replacing the normal cyclic variation in amounts lost in 2009 and 2012, and since we've had a milder than normal summer, it sure looks like another coming ice age. Al Gore is wrong about all the polar ice being gone by 2014. Global warming is a myth and we need to worry about an ice age like they warned us about in the 1970's.

Currently it is 86 degrees outside in Boston. The hot snap started on Friday and is expected to continue for tomorrow and beyond. For the record, we had the coolest summer on record and below average rainfall.

Sue the no-good SOB's! This texting while walking or driving has gotten so bad, something has to be done.
When we go walking in the mall every day, I can't tell you how many close calls I have had by people paying attention to their texting and have no idea where they are walking!!!
BTW, my picture first previewed as upside down. I opened the picture rotated it 90 degrees, saved and closed it. Then, I did the same thing again to get it to post as intended.
IMO it would be very unusual if she won a suit against her employer. W.C. would probably be her only remedy in a workplace injury. Not sure if she could collect her pension and w.c. benefits, but maybe.

IMHO, it's not right to sue her employer for pain and suffering from having a co-worker walk into her. If it makes her feel better, she should file an injury report with her employer as a CYA.
Except that photo is of a 1966 T Bird. They didn't offer those landau tops in 1964 or 1965. Personally I never liked that look.
1964 T-Bird:
1966 T-Bird:
Look kind of the same.
(Imid, there are some similarities in the Turbo car and the 61 T-Bird too.)
According to Hagerty.ca they did offer Landau tops in 64, 65, and 66. Landau hardtops were offered in 1964 and 1965, a Special Landau hardtop appeared in 1965, and a Town hardtop and Town Landau debuted (both sans rear quarter glass) in 1966 (not sure what that means, but they had them) The rear tailight went across the back on the 66 model.
First I answered then I saw Roadrunner replied...sorry, don't mean to become obssessive about this dilemma/dilemna!
I know they offered a vinyl top on 1964 T Birds and I suppose since they had that "landau" bar on the side that you could call it a "landau top".
What I meant was they only offered that "Town Landau" roof in 1966 and not in 1964-65.
You could get a 66 T Bird both ways and I know I never cared for the Town Landau's looks.
The photo of the white Town Landau shows that someone stuck those ugly door protectors on it. This was very common in those days and in my opinion just destroyed the looks of the cars that got these.
Making things worse some were actually installed by drilling holes in the side of the cars and using sheet metal screws to attach them!
I once passed on buying an otherwise pristine 1964 Riviera that had these.
The seller actually thought they made the car look better! They literally ruined the sleek looks of that Riviera!
@imidazol97, the sideways pics are usually an IOS thing - the photo was probably taken with an iPad. Seems to be an issue here, Facebook, Twitter, emailing, at least if you are using Windows as your OS. Something about the EXIF data flag. Taking pics in landscape mode supposedly works better for uploading elsewhere. All the Subaru pics great on my wife's iPad. Gotta love the blue (reminds me of Boise State).
well, nothing is free. if they make the stuff standard, the price goes up for everyone. So, if there are really people that don't want it, making it optional works out the best.
I'm one of the ones who doesn't want it, especially if it jacks up the price of the car. Some of my vehicles don't even have airbags.

Interesting climate in the US this year. The west coast (Southern California, Arizona and the low desert areas) have had record rains due to the many hurricanes moving north over the Baja. My son said they've had torrential rains in his area which is usually dry with no rain this time of year, on average.
The Eastern Pacific has been very active for hurricanes and the Central and South Atlantic regions have been super quiet with just one hurricane coming close to the eastern seaboard - totally the opposite of what is considered normal.
They say it is due to a strong El Niño off the coast of Chile and Peru.

Oldfarmer, you look very distinguished. The kids are cute. The tractor looks like it has a lot of miles on it, it could use a paint job. It would look good in Lapis Blue.
It's not that bad here. Spring and Fall are just beautiful here. I love the summers. Yes it gets hot & humid, but we live 20 minutes from the beach which is hours of entertainment for our 3 young children. The winters are on the "tough" side. I'm looking forward to seeing just how well the AwD system performs.

I kinda like New England weather; four true seasons. We rarely get earthquakes, mudslides, hurricanes, tornados, wild fires or locust swarms. Occassionally, but not the rule. We do get snow, but to a skier, that is simply white gold! Spring ain't my favorite, mud season round here. And, Spring is always the end of the ski season...
Congrats on the Subie, Bradd. I believe it was the Dr. Demento show that introduced me to the timeless classic song, "Making Love in a Subaru."

Not being a farmer, the locust swarms are kind of fun. They used to put "slick road" warning signs up around Boise when the Mormon crickets were on the march, and we walked through clouds of grasshoppers at one of the very large array sites last month upstate. Interesting wearing shorts and having a dozen grasshoppers crawling on your legs while unavoidably stepping on dozens of their brethren underneath your feet. All that protein going to waste.
I was surprised to only find a couple in the van after leaving the visitor's center there.

That's better than the Turkey Vultures at Everglades National Park. They love to eat rubber....windshield wipers, roof racks, seals around windows etc. The park will let you have a tarp to place over your car....some people don't read the signs about covering your car. We saw about 20 on a Jeep eating the rubber around the roof racks...tried to scare them away but they come back....and they seem to be pretty ferocious.
One theory is they like biting the rubber for exercise.

I don't know about "handsome". Sunday my wife and I stopped to get some food and as I left the store I passed this dottering old codger with a grey beard. The poor guy looked 80. And could barely walk. As we got into the car my wife says "he looks just like you".

That does look like a Farmall. Small. It has a weight on the front to help keep the front from lifting when pulling hard on something. On our farm we didn't have anything that small. It is more of a utility tractor. Usually bought Fords for that light stuff.
@driver100, in the Sierra around Mineral King, they have problems with marmots chewing wiring and radiator hoses (apparently they love antifreeze). So they wrap cars up in tarps. Guess the critters don't eat that plastic.

I guess I can cross a Hybrid Porsche Spyder 918 off my list! There were only 3 in Canada, now there are two!
Subaru is a great company. Wonderful vehicles. Particularly in the North East and Colorado. A lot of them spend time in parking spots on college campuses, which speaks highly of the company.
Global warming a myth? Wow, apparently some have successfully avoided viewing pictures of Greenland or the Antarctic ice sheet. By the way, global warming is not weather it is climate. Big difference. I am betting on my property in mid Maryland becoming beach front for my grand children.

I was thinking the same thing, Imid. That's crazy. Animals like to eat rubber?
I agree with oldfarmer (the younger, taller, thinner, handsomer, richer one than the one in the picture), let them drink/eat all the anti-freeze they want. That, will alleviate the issue in a few short years.
