Just got back from having lunch at the casino.  They were giving away 750ml bottles of Macallum Gold Scotch - so I got a bottle which came with a Macallum Glass Decanter.

Anyone familiar with with this brand of scotch?  It says it is a single malt scotch aged for 10-15 years in Sherry Oak Casks.  That’s all I know about it - no idea what these bottles sell for.

Very nice Scotch for the price---about $50 bucks. Very smooth, and a nice whiskey to serve to first-timers. Careful, it goes down real easy! :p

my Sonata lease ended the same way. I got an email about having to make the last payment. they stopped at 35. I called to question it, and the answer made little sense, but I was able to do it online. Not a big deal, just weird.

The reason you get that is that the payment for $X at Y% for Z months rarely comes out to an even amount, it may come out to $423.86835742 so it will be rounded out and the difference is made up on the last payment. So with a 36 month loan you will have 35 payments at one amount and one payment at a slightly different amount.

Now when you have direct withdrawal from your account they only have authority to take out a certain amount so they cannot takeout that last payment without additional authority to do so.
You got me thinking so I looked at my payment book. Sure enough, the last slip says"call for final payment".

    Just hope there's no surprise.

All depends. Didn't the F&I guy say, "just double it". :o

The Macallan Gold is their current entry-level scotch. Up here it's overpriced ($75 Cdn) so I avoid it but free is good. :D

Had to fix my snow blower today. It reminded me of fixing the gasket on the garage door a few months ago.
I just kept using more and more tools to take off more and more parts.
Funny thing is, while I was working on it on my back in the driveway, my wife saw me while driving up the street and thought I had fallen or had a heart attack.

We had a normal winter storm blow into SW Ohio. The media, like they do everything, over hyped it for days. Some folks were actually scared this could be the blizzard of 2018. We got 2 inches. 20 miles SE of here on the other side
of Dayton got maybe 3. So tired of the over hyping by the weather folks.

Some icing under the snow freezing as the temps dropped had a lot of the speeding semis heading for Columbus which won't slow down for anything on I70 ending up jack knifing. At least that slowed them down. LOL

I hesitate to even complain with the wild fires in CA and the resultant mudslides. I would just like to see realistic forecasts without the tight excited voices pitching how awful it's going to be.

    Now back to cars.

It's an epidemic and I see it becoming a real problem. How many times can the media cry wolf before people tune them out as a matter of routine? Then the actual "big one" comes and nobody listens.

Forget the media, did you see what the government did in Hawaii this morning? How would you like to be a salesman taking a customer on a test drive and the state says it's the end of the world in 20 minutes? I can just see the customer saying what the heck and stomping on the gas.

The media does what sells, hence their complicity in the current political situation. Over-hyped snow forecasts have been a thing in Seattle for eons. Weather forecasting is also an inexact science, especially in some areas.

In my area, when the amber alert phone notification system debuted, so many endless CYA alerts about events hundreds of miles away were sent out, that most people muted them. Maybe it's good a certain someone was golfing yet again this morning.

I’ll give this Macallum scotch a “10”!  You are correct, Shifty, smooth with a sweet aftertaste and seemingly quite potent.  Best I’ve ever had.  :p

Been watching Mecum Auctions - they just tried to sell a new Black 2018 Bugatti Chiron.  The last bid was  $3.5 million dollars - but it did not meet reserve - so the car did not sell.  Unbelievable!!!

took a little trip with the Elantra today (about 50 miles each way down to the beach to look at rental houses for vacation next summer). Some local stuff, a fair amount of local/back 4 lane or semi highways, a 10 mile or so stretch doing 75 on the expressway, then a bunch of stop and start running around town. Did about 120 miles all together I think. Per the TC, was right about 37 when I pulled into town, and overall sitting at 35 for the whole thing. Not too shabby considering the usage I don't think. Really curious to see what it would do if I filled up and got straight on the highway south (no hills to speak of) and did a non stop 3-4 hour run.

I don’t think so.  This was a brand new 2018.  If you want to order one, there is s 3-4 year wait - and pricing is over 2 million - the reason this one was over 3.5 million is that there was no waiting time to take delivery.

I was up in Palm Beach early this morning to have my car detailed at the Palm Beach Mercedes Dealer where I got my car.  I went east to go home on Okeechobee Blvd. and decided to go over to the beach.  There were many protestors with anti Trump signs.  I turned around and got out of there - preferred to have lunch at the local casino.

Might have been a chandelier bid if reserve wasn't dropped beforehand. It's a way of not embarrassing the client or the auction house.

Even at two million that's quite an ADM.

Edit: that's funny, I was responding to Mikes post on the $3.5 million car and his later post came in. Either I hit the wrong quote or the site is really going nuts.

I assume sometime next week but there may be a glitch. Their HR office emailed me about an "accident" from 2015. I haven't had an at fault accident since 1979 so I was puzzlEd until I recalled an incident where a texting driver had rear ended the school bus I was driving. I was stopped, he got the ticket and my department considered it 100% not my fault.

HR wants some statement from my personal insurance stating % of fault ascribed to me. Not sure how to go about that since my insurance was never involved. I sent them a copy of my insurance declaration page showing that I was rated at zero accidents and zero tickets. Gave them phone numbers for my insurance and the school transportation director for verification.

It would be just my luck if their inquiries cause my insurance company to bump my rate.

2000 is the last year for the Mitsu engine. The 2.7L had a sludging issue from 2001-2005 so unless the seller had documented low mile oil changes I'd be scared. 2006+ are hard to find that satisfy my low mile-low price fetish.

Same scenario but JMonroe is sitting in his car parked listening to his wannabe radio, and a lady pulls up next to him, opens her door and dings his car. He jumps out of his car and tells the woman she has dented his car and he demands $75 on the spot. She says, get lost, it is just one of those things. JM starts shouting that she has caused the damage and he wants to be compensated. She says it wasn't her that did it, it must have been there before. As they start shouting more people come around. The woman cries out stop harassing me .....I don't even know what you are talking about. 4 guys pin JM down to the ground and someone has called the police who now show up. They listen to the two stories and the woman says it wasn't her, JM is just trying to get her to pay for a dent that was already there. The police take him away in handcuffs, and he has to spend the night incarcerated, until Mrs JM comes in and pays his bail. His trial comes up on March 25th, hopefully they let him off, with a stern warning, and a $300 fine.
Ridiculous story, especially the part about Mrs. j bailing me out. OK, maybe a little accurate about it taking 4 guys to hold me down but other than that purely ridiculous. jmonroe

When I was cleaning out my Mom's house, there were tax returns going back to the mid 60's.Among other things, I also found my old school report cards. Those got shredded ASAP! The funniest thing I found was a report card for some cousin who she complained about a lot, we never met and went to her school. In 1 quarter, 42 absences. :)
Man, that is a lot of class to be missing. However, if you ever saw my grade school report cards you'd probably say the same thing my Dad said, "what's with you, do you only show up to take the tests" ? :'( jmonroe
When I started first grade, they had to drag me, kicking and screaming to the school bus. After about a week I was fine. In the 2nd thru 4th grades, I got perfect attendance certificates all 3 years. I would go, no matter what because I wanted those certificates !
Guess you weren't too bright houdini....you fell for the old perfect attendance certificate trick. :D (just joking).
The school where I drove liked to hand out real lame "awards" to mold behavior. I got one for 3 years of perfect attendance. It was a T-shirt with the school name on it. .
It all starts with those gold stars teachers put on perfect papers, and then they put them on foreheads. Then you got T-shirts or certificates for perfect attendance. That was when schools taught kids how to be little capitalists....work for your reward.
Now the kids are taught they're entitled to a gold star regardless of effort. That operant conditioning never worked on me because I studied Pavlov.
We had a social studies teacher by the name of Pavlov, we called his students dogs.

I wish I could get rid of the traditional phone - but security and fire alarms and smoke detectors are all hardwired into the phone lines.

I use my mobile phone for everything and I only pay $50 a month, tax included for unlimited everything including LTE data.  In my condo I have 2.4 and 5.0 WiFi so the speed is great - 75 mbs
There are (cheaper) ways to do all of that without going through a hardline, using your cell phone. How much you want to bet someone, somewhere is getting a kickback from the phone company for requiring a landline for those services. Might be something to bring up at the next condo association meeting.
I have Simplisafe at home. It only uses cellular. You can't even use a landline with it. We haven't had a landline for ages.
I find it funny when my 4-year old daughter uses the term "ages" to describe a long time. Usually, she says "ages" when it really hasn't been that long. How long do you define an age? Scientists might point to the ice age, while I would probably say a decade.
An "age" is a time period associated with an event or a distinct period of time. So the term "age" can be any length of time.

Maybe I will change my name to "Car Bolt".
Then wouldn't that make you a Chevy?

Here's another one for driver100's consideration. A little closer to home and probably more fun but more money than I want to spend. Also, I have no idea how to evaluate the condition of a turbo unless it is totally blown and billowing smoke.

I like! And he says he has "All service completed with receipts including timing belt." I think in a case like this that would mean something.

@oldfarmer50 - when do you start your new part-time gig?

Yeh, and you haven't posted any great finds from CL lately.....that we can blow apart.
I've been fixated on getting a convertible lately and I found this about a mile from by BIL's place in Largo. Blow away.

It would probably cost me more for the plane ticket down there.

You don’t want that... cowl shake galore.  The newer ones are probably better, but stay away from that generation

took a little trip with the Elantra today (about 50 miles each way down to the beach to look at rental houses for vacation next summer).
    What town?
Stone Harbor (though the house we had to switch to, after our prior rental was sold and taken off the market, is technically in Avalon.)
Very nice!  We are doing Diamond Beach again this year.  Best of both worlds...quiet and relaxing but only a few minutes to the crazy Boardwalk.

we used to go to WW for the boardwalk every year when the kids were littler. Adults got to hate it. When the older kids were old enough (20s) we sent them with the crew. Then they bailed, so no one has gone for years. Don't really miss it. Now more likely to go brewery hopping, since there are a ton of new microbrews around there.

Out of the seven days we really only go up two, maybe three times.  So much to do in WW and there is also a lot of great restaurants and bars.   A couple nights, after the kids go to bed the wife and I get to go out.  My mom comes with, so she stays with the kids.

My 84 Corvette had cowl shake if you took the top off. They said it was the first design that was stiff enough to do away with the t-top but I don't know. Only became pronounced above 70.

I think convertible cruising becomes less fun above 60 anyway.

    How in the heck......

    This driver was really flying.

A California motorist was moving so fast when his car slammed into a center median Sunday that the impact launched the vehicle into the second story of a nearby building — where it stayed lodged for hours as rescuers extricated a person trapped inside.

could put that in a dukes of Hazard remake. Though it would have been the hayloft of a barn.
