You cannot get enough space between the fender and the back tire. Went to HomeDepot, bought a rachet type phillips head screwdriver. It was easy-with the right tool! You have to be careful with the door edge guards, you can scratch the paint if you put them on incorrectly. Good luck!
I did mine last week too, in prep for th oncoming winter. It was a snap, AFTER I found a different tool besides my stubby. The lowest one was the only problem, the stubby fit fine on the innermost screw and the new one that is added.
I just got a small ratchet and added an apex adapter and a #2 apex, which made for a "screwdriver" a little more than an inch shorter than the stubby. After I did that it was a SNAP to install. There's really nothing you can mess up while doing this so I suggest that everyone at least try it first. If you fumble or get exasperated, then yah, go to the dealer. --Leland
I've got an 04 Accord Sedan EXL Navi and would like to hook up my iPod. I've tried the FM transmitters and they just don't work that well. I'd love to get a line-in from the headphone jack.
You can get an AUX input adapter from SoundGate to do this. It will convert the AUX input on the head-unit into RCA plugs. I'm using it to get XM into my 03. Logjam Electronics sells it (web co.).
I've installed one, but I don't have Nav. Thing about 04 is that you have the XM. For the non nav stereo, you'll lose XM, cause the stereo has only one aux, despite what the button says. I put Ipod in and now don't have xm. But that's something I'm willing to live with.
I thought that the 2004's had integrated XM into the head units. If it is being routed through the AUX inputs of the control head, does that mean that the previously optional XM unit is in simply included and mounted in the cubby hole below the HVAC controls?
I love that storage cubby and that's why I would never dream of adding additional audio components b/c I would have to give up that space.
2004's xm is integrated into the head unit, however, it is being routed into the aux input, which sucks. Kinda deceptive if you ask me, cause the sat button is also the cd button and the aux button as well. I had to disconnect the xm from the aux input to put the aux thing in. Called the company that makes the SNHond3, forgot the name of the company, and they confirmed this. Of course, they didn't mention this on their site before I bought the damned thing. But, I do like the fact that I have my entire music library with me in my car. So, it's a trade off. I can't comment on the optional XM unit.
One more note on the Soundgate adapter from log jam electronics, I had an incredible buzzing when I plugged either my Delphi xm radio or my harddrive-based MP3 player into the 12v power.
I found a ground loop isolator that addressed the problem. See post 431 for details.
on my 03 Accord, the Moon Roof Visor not only cut down on noise, but more the wind blowing down onto my face. It's nice because even on cool mornings I can open the roof and have just slight ventilation, yet lots of light and an open feeling.
IMO, the spoiler on the accord looks sharp. talk about useless, my wife wanted one on her mini-van...hey, why not, she drives it and I'm not going to keep her from the spoiler just because I don't like it. Actually I do though.
"One perfect example-I had a Mazda Millennia and I bought the Moon Roof Visor for it-what a mistake, those Visors are just outright useless. I thought it would have reduced wind noise but in reality it increased it."
So- no Spoiler for my honey, hope she does not read this or else its the sofa for me.:)
The wing or spoiler(whatever you want to call it) is usefull on my 4 Runner as it directs air flow down over the rear window, which keeps it much clearer when driving in the rain. My wife wants one on her Camry so she can identify her car in the parking lot among the 100 other Camrys! I have one on my 04 Accord because I like the way it looks, as compared to the bare rump of the 04 Accord coupe w/o the spoiler.
For whatever reason - if you want one, get it. If you don't - don't! Different strokes for different folks.
Yes, I know some 4 Runner owners have complained about stinky exhaust entering the vehicle, but I've never had that problem, as long as I keep the back window up, which with any station wagon(SUV) body style, you should always drive with the back window up as the normal aerodynamics cause exhaust to enter (I remember by dad having problems like that with old chevy SW.
No offense taken. The 4 Runner, like some of the 03 Accords, had some first year teething problems. And, like the Accord, the 4 Runner is still an OUTSTANDING vehicle, even with a couple of glitches.
I was wondering what kind of sizes the accord sedan has. Back speakers, front speakers, and the tweeters all the way in the front. Please help me with this question.
Looking to install a two way radio into my '03 EX. It will be located in the trunk with a remote head up front. Wonder if anyone has any experience in running wiring from the trunk and engine compartments into the vehicle? I will need to run power from the battery back to the trunk and also a cable from the trunk up to the front passengers area. Not too concerned about running them under the floor molding under the doors, but am concerned about how to get through to the trunk and engine compartments. Thanks.
getting through the trunk is easy. Take off the side mouldings and rear dash and you should see all kinds of pass throughs. The engine compartament is trickier. Look for an existing grommit in the firewall or fenders that you can route your cables through.
I have to say that your Accord looks extremely pimped out .
Looking at yours kind of swayed me into getting the Spoiler for her.
I finally rolled up my sleeves and did the work myself.I installed the MudGuards and Door Edge Guards-very simple.I did not take off the rear wheels, I got a very small Phillipps and it did the job.
I think the next accessories are going to be the Fog Lights and the Spolier, I will let you guys know.
I did find that Bob Marley station-got some good soothing island music.
if you are talking about the lights on the trunk, it is normal not to have carpeting on the lid unless you have an EX V6. As for the other one, I'm not sure.
Had to look. there is a plastic flap on each side, looks like half a u.... probably rolling around, if not, ask the dealer.
Has anyone installed an aux input adapter on a 2003/2004 Accord with a navigation system?
The SNHond03 adapter from logjam electronics requires you to buy an additional audio harness from Honda and then splice it into the adapter (voiding the warrantee in the process) to make it work.
This seems overly complicated - there must be a simpler way. How well does an FM modulator work and is it difficult to install? I am interested in adding XM radio to an 03 Accord with navi. I would prefer not to have to pull apart my dash.
Thanks Billy! Glad you decided to get her the wing. Gotta keep the accords looking somewhat sporty
My next mods are set for mid December. Using the Greddy E-Manage to tune the Air/Fuel Settings and lower my vtec to 4600rpms. There's a local shop that will do the install, tuning and Dyno's before and after for $600. With my intake, total bump over stock is in the area of 25hp or so according to others they've done. I'm looking to add a nice down-pipe or J-Pipe as I call it to free up the exhuast a bit. Not interested in aftermarket sounding stuff. There are some quiet ones out there though. hmmmm...maybe.
Unless the iVTEC is tuned differently than the VTEC, the best way to improve TQ/HP is actually to raise the VTEC timing. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure that I have the article somewhere in my 50# stack of tuning books... When you tune it check up as well as down... I think it had something to do with leaning out the fuel/air mix if you throw the cams over too soon... i'll see if I can't find that bugger...
Another quick boost which is relatively cheap is a fuel pressure regulator, B&M makes a decent one for about 60 or so with the gauge and the adjustable regulator... good for a few HP, especially with an intake and exhaust to let it breathe better... don't get too carried away though... =o)
Replaced the factory 6 x 9 speakers in the rear of my Accord Coupe with a pair of Kickers from Crutchfield. Make that great 180 watt stereo sound even better. It was pretty painless with the instructions that Crutchfield furnishes, only problem: I couldn't use the factory 4mm screws, but had to use the metal screws and tinnerman nuts that came with speakers. Still took less than 30 minutes.
Ordered the spoiler a week ago, so it should be in any day now.
Good News..i noticed on handaaccessories they list a mirror for the 04. I guess honda found a way to make it work on the 04. Has anyone had the new version installed on the 04 yet??
My Honda dealer insists that there is only 1 mirror for the 2003 & 2004 Accord & they fit on both. I called H & A & they said there is 2 different ones & the 03 mirror will not work on an 04 Accord. Does anyone know about this?
Im not sure if they are using the same mirror on the 04 as on the 03. I do know however the way the 03 is wired wont work on the 04. It causes an airbag light to come on. I couldnt get the installation instructions on h&a to open up for the 04 to find out what is different. Im guessing its the same mirror..just wired differently. The parts department should be able to tell you that the 03 is not compatible with the 04. Honda has sent them a message about it. Someone on this board had his 03 auto mirror installed on his new 04 and ran into the airbag light issue. I imagine you might be able to find that post by searching this board for it.
It's a matter of personal pref. I went with the wing, to be installed next Tue. They both attach to the trunk lid, and they both add a cosmetic touch to the car. My wife wanted one on her Camry so she could tell it apart from the 100 other Camrys in the parking lot!!
A lot of dealers will have one of each installed on a showroom car, that you could view. If you can't find that, you'll have to decide from pictures. Good luck. I'll post some pics once I get mine installed.
I just installed my 4 mid ranges speakers to my high level speaker-input 4 channel-amp. I am using stock head-unit. Here's the problem: I have such a irritating wining noise coming from the speakers, and the noise pitch het higher and louder when I accelerated. My installer told me there's no way to fix this. He said some amp created that noise. I don't believe this. I talked to a different installer and he said the high level input connection may have created that noise. He suggested using the "step down" converter or is it RCA converter? Any one with a problem like mine? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. If I used the RCA converter, do I hook them up behind the head unit or on the rear speakers? Thanks guy!

1.Change your ground wire location. 2.Don't run the power and ground leads next to the input wires. 3. Get a powered high level input to RCA converter. Hook it up behind the head unit so you run RCA back to the amp. Remember, don't run the RCA cables anywhere near power cables or you'll still get that whine! 4. Last resort, Radio Shack sells a few different line conditioners that will reduce, but not eliminate, the noise.
First go to a different, hopefully more competent installer. Those RCA converters may help, they reduce the speaker level output to low level signals for the amp and may reduce the noise. You have alternator noise. It is being made louder by your altering the factory system in ways it was not designed to be altered and thus bypassing noise reduction devices in the system that isolate alternator whine. Lots of people of this. There are devices that install in the lines to reduce this noise, to different degrees of effectiveness. Search some of the car stereo specific forums at other web pages.
I believe I warned you of this problem... the solution is a hi-lo convertoer. It converts the normal 'high' level input to an RCA level input for the amps. I would get some decent RCA's such as shielded Phoenix gold. This would probably run you about $75 for the 4 channel converter(get one with adjustments) and the RCA's probably between 50-100ea.

Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

My mechanic (of five years) who serviced our Camry will be doing the installation for me.
There is no charge involved and his Garage is well equipped for all sorts of Mechanical and Cosmetic work.
He works for Toyota.
Much nicer sound than FM Modulators.

Don't take it the wrong way, I didn't mean to offend you. Besides, I may end up buying yours in 5-6 years.
Cheers!

rear 6x9 normal depth. will probably need to pilot new holes, as the new holes do not line up exact.

What I am trying to say is- if wanted to change a bulb for the brake lights, the socket is staring you right in the face.
Usually there is a liner there for you to remove.
Is that the way all the Accords are?

I'll have to get my Accord Specific Site up soon.
How much did those rims and tires run you?
I might upgrade next summer.
Also the HID, are those XENONS like the ones on the TLS- you know the blue color effect.
If so- give me the source for the bubls and the installation process.
Thanks anyway, when I go back to the dealer I will take a look at a model similar to mine.

1- Rear Deck Lid Spoiler $240
2- Rear Wing Spoiler $370
But I don't know which one looks better on my "Black" 4-Door Accord. I like the one that tlauro installed "Wing"
http://www.pbase.com/image/20425960.jpg
and I also like the smaller one attached directly to the trunk.
There is a big difference in Price that's for sure!
