Brighten up you night,
MidCow
I thinking of buying a new accord in Uae. Can you tell me how much you paid for it? Hate all the bargaining stuff. Thanks.
Rgds,
apple
YMMV,
MidCow.
What type of K&N did you use? I was thinking of a drop-in for my 05 4cyl EX. Anybody have any thoughts. I don't want to do anything too drastic and void the warranty.
Thanks in advance.
Durbs
That is all I did was a K&N drop-in type filter. I thought about a cold-air intake, but at least on the 6-speed Accord Coupe it is already drawing air from the lower left area away from the engine and I didn't think the benefit would be all that significant.
I am not sure where the 4 cyl. gets its ari input, but if it is close to the engine a cold air intake would give you the best horsepower increase and should not affect you warranty. Make sure you pay $50 extra for hydro lock-out. Cold air intakes are usually very low to the ground and if you go through high water it prevents you from drawing water into your engine and completely ruining it
For sound an a little horsepower gain add a cat back exhaust.
Good Luck,
MidCow
Actually it looked like a pretty good deal. There were Xexon lights that fit in the normal halogen socket and an additional ignitor and ballast for each light. It had a 1 yr warranty and the lights are rated at 3,200 hours. There are different colors depending on the Xexon temperature. Most HIDs OEMed in cars are 4300C white, 6000c is aqua blue and 8000 deep blue and 10000c purple. Most people get the 6000c.
I am kind of disappointed but it looks like some of the people taht actually received the kit got different parts and ran into some installation issues.
Good Luck,
MidCow
I posted in the coupe board, but it looks like that area is slow.
I just bought a '05 EXL V6 AT CPE NAVI. I think is a great value, especially with the cheap pricing available now. Nice ride, and fast enough for me (especially since I'm in traffic all the time!).
Couple of questions:
(1) Does anybody have a source for the all-weather floor mats cheaper than a dealer?
(2) This is the first car I've owned with leather. What products should I buy to keep the seats looking good (they're black, if that makes any difference).
Thanks!
(2) Zymol or Zaino leather products twice a year.
Aren't you concerned that, if you found aftermarket HIDs to fit your car, the extra heat might melt or otherwise deteriorate the OEM clear plastic external lens covers? They obviously were not design specified for the extra heat.
I don't think that is a problem. But, I don't have any first hand experience, but apparently seveal folks on the 7thgenaccord forum have installed HID ligths without any meltdown problems. And there seem to be a lot of similar kits available.
Cheers,
MidCow
Thank you.
I was going to buy a K&N, but I think I'll go with a disposable Wix instead. I have a couple thousand more miles to decide.
I really don't want a catback exhaust. Worried about the sound being too loud. Just looking for a few extra horses. I would like to set my Accord apart from the others. It is my family car though.
1000 miles. Best car I have purchased.
What is a disposable Wix?
Concerning K & N filter. I read the thread about Bob and dispOsable air filters. Let's just say I completely don't agree.
Good luck with your Accord and mods.

I have an 04 Accord Coupe with NAV, and had Circuit City install a stereo system a few months ago. I left the stock radio because I didn’t want to get rid of the nav feature. I have component speakers in the front, 6X9 speakers in the back, and they go off a 4 channel amp. I also have a 2 channel amp going to a 2 10 inch sub box. To help me power all of that I had a capacitor installed also. My problem is that there is a LOT of distortion coming thru the speakers, and what the guy who installed it said its feedback from the capacitor and the NAV. Every time I press the gas pedal, I can hear it even louder. He also tells me that there is nothing I can do about it. So I was wondering if A) maybe he installed it wrong somehow, or
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
I'm thinking about the Honda factory struts and springs. I really don't want a much stiffer spring, but that car sits too damn high.
Anybody know a good leather upholsterer in the San Jose (Calif) area?
I chose the A500's based on Tire Rack's test results. Plus, they're less expensive than other tires they test better than.
Anyway, "the guy who installed it said its feedback from the capacitor and the NAV" sounds like a bunch of baloney to me. Most HUs (headunits) are powerful enough, even stock ones, so that there will not be much noise introduced by the amp overcompensating for a low power pre-out from the HU. And a capacitor should not introduce noise into the system, it simply holds some extra juice to feed the low notes better. If anything, a cap should make your system sound better but may make your alternator work more (its something extra to charge).
You can get line silencers but these are basically stopgap measures. The best way to have a low noise system is to:
1) Run amp (or any) power lines on one side of the vehicle and run speaker leads and amp source leads (generally RCAs) on the other side, or at least as far away as possible from the power lines.
2) Use quality wires that are twisted and as pure as possible to resist picking up noise and carry a clean signal that is as lossless as possible.
3) Make sure the grounds on the amps (negatives usually nearish the trunk area) are not run to the same spot for both amps, or are not on top of seat belt anchors, or something similarly stupid. At the very least, they should be run securely into bare metal chassis.
If any of these are not done you are at risk for some bad sounds to be thrown around in the car.
Check out: www.the12volt.com for some professional help. There is a forum to ask questions on grounding that might be a good place to start querying.
Good Luck!
Some decent cheap-ish speakers would be Infinity Reference or Kappa components for ear-splitting highs. I have Kappa co-axials and they are piercing with a decent amp, the components are said to be similar.
Moving up in $ (in some cases by a lot), MB Quart, Focal, CDT, and Diamond Audio make some well-respected components.
You really need to set a price limit though, you can get in for a few hundred really easily with good components.
Someone someplace told me there was a system available that integrated into the OEM keyless entry system so you did't have to carry a key fob. My wife has already tested the OEM remote range at home and work it is fine.
Dennis
BTW, which input did you choose? I just got my wife a new Accord and I am trying to decide between getting the OEM tape deck (use it for books on tape and to feed in the XM sat radio from her SkyFi2) or getting an Aux in adapter. The tape deck is spendy with the install kit, but really not that much more than most of the aux adapters I have seen.
Dennis
As for your question, I bought an aux input from Precision Interface Electronics (www.pie.net). Wasn't cheap, but I have no interest in the FM tuner for my Ipod.
In other news, I'm astounded by how few car manufacturers actually include auxiliary inputs in their factory stereos, especially with the recent mp3 player popularity boom.
I think I am going to install her XM SkyFi2 in the new Accord and try the FM modulator method first. If that does not work well, then I will either get the aux in like you did (probably $100 or so?) or get the OEM tape desk ($180 or so).
Thanks,
Dennis
Thanks
Also, does anyone know where or what kind of remote start I should look into so that I don't need the separate fob?
Any recommendations for leather cleaner/protectant as well?
Thanks in Advance!

Thre remote start should not be a problem for any competent install shop. They make modules that will do the remote start after 4, 5, or 6 lock presses in a row within xx seconds. They will also need to install either an imobilizer bypass (not a good idea) or one of the other solutions. The cheap one involves using a blank Honda key under the dash all the time, for a little more money there is a box that "learns" the signal from your key and then requires no key.
I use Lexol cleaner and treatment and it seems to work well. Lots of folks with high-end cars swear by "Leatheriwue" stuff.

Some folks were selling pre-cut pieces of this at one time, that makes it a little easier for most folks to install, but I would still rather someone else do it (that has done lots of them).
Dennis
Does anybody have any suggestions or any experience with this type of thing? Thanks in advance for you help.
