I have the optional wheel locks on my 2004 Accord EX V6. I lost the key to the locks. Can the dealer order me another key, or will I need new wheel locks?
  • whitecloud1whitecloud1 Member Posts: 268
Your biggest issue is getting the locks off. Getting a key from the dealer is not gonna happen.
If anyone can do that it's you getting it from the lock maker. Maybe they have a number on the wheel lock package ( you should have gotten) that will match your set to a key that the maker can duplicate. Man, I'm sorry about that. The wheel locks I have are the same as the ones you get from any auto accessories shop. I'm pretty confident that even the ones in Honda packaging are made by the same folks.

I have the Redondo Red Pearl 2004 Honda Accord EX 4-Cyl. Sedan. I wanted to know if anyone knows if there are indiglo gauges or customized gauges for my car??? Perhaps, "indiglo" gauges would be nice. If so, what is the website that I can look under? I really would like to change the gauges in my car! Can someone help? Thanks.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
Why would you want to change the LED guages that are on the Accord. That would be a tacky touch IMO.
  • hmurphyhmurphy Member Posts: 278
I think she should do exactly what she wants with her car, just as you did with yours and your spoilers. She's the one making the payments, right?
  • lyzettelyzette Member Posts: 13
Thanks for your reply to the anonymous poster who thought it would be a tacky idea to change the LED gauges for my car. I am the one making the payments as you said. Plus, I didn't ask for an opinion, all I asked was for some info on where to find customized gauges, right? Anyway, would YOU happen to know where I can find customized LED gauges for my 2004 Honda Accord EX Sedan??? Thanks:)
  • lyzettelyzette Member Posts: 13
I own a Red Pearl 2004 Honda Accord EX 4-Cyl. Sedan and wanted to know if anyone knows where I can find customized LED gauges?
Also, has anyone seen the projector lights for the 03'-05' Accords? I've seen them and their hot! Thinking about getting them too.. the site is www.mytightride.com. When you get to the site, click on "Projector Headlights" and see for yourself.
One last thing, has anyone seen Altezza lights for the 04' Accord Sedan? If so, what are your thoughts?
  • jomabu1jomabu1 Member Posts: 37
    lyzette,

I think I remember someone saying it would be very difficult to change the lighting since it is an led design. You might post this question in the www.vetec.net forum. That forum seems to have more info on customizing.

    Cheers

That's not the site you're looking for but we don't allow linking to other auto forums anyway.

First of all, a factory rear spoiler will not decrease the value of my car. Replacing the factory gauges with indiglo gauges will.

You are right though. It is not my money. I just think it's a little silly to waste money on upgrades that decrease the value of a car which someone still has numerous payments left on.

Additionally, the same people who spend tons of money for upgrades like headlights, indiglo gauges, big exhaust tips, etc will be the first one's to complain when they get ready to trade it and a dealer won't offer good money for the car because it is essentially worthless to them.
  • lyzettelyzette Member Posts: 13
Well, if you know much about street modifications, and knowing how to install and un-install, then you would know that people un-install their after market stuff before trading in their car. Duh! I've done it before and know many people who do it as well and are experts at it. Plus, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. In addition, I purchased my car and did not lease it. So, I intend to have my car for a long time and have fun with it. I'm into modifications and you only live once. Goodbye!
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
Installing and uninstalling equipment can mess with the integrity of the car. If you plan to keep the car for a long time it's no big deal. However, I stand behind my statement that replacing the awesome LED guages in the Accord will ruin the interior of the car. If you are going to modify a car make it classy, not trashy.
  • hmurphyhmurphy Member Posts: 278
I hope that the comments from anonymousposts have made you even MORE determined to do exactly what you want to do with your car.

The purpose of this discussion is not to pass judgement or question another member's decisions. Constructive opinions with valid information are always welcome, but please allow others to determine what is best for them and their vehicle.
  • lyzettelyzette Member Posts: 13
I see that you don't know much about modifying.. un-installing does not mess with the integrity of the car. That is, if you know what you're doing. Obviously, you don't. You're not an enthusiast as many people like myself are. You should read what our host of this forum had to say. Again, I asked for information, not an opinion. Speak with an aftermarket expert or people on CarDomain.com for details on modifications before you call someone's modified tastes "trashy".
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
I wouldn't consider myself an enthusiast but I do know about modifications. Indiglo gauges are the last place to start if you want to make "enthusiast" enhancements to a car. What about a chassis brace? What about springs? What about some larger wheels/tires? What about larger sway bars?

My Accord is stock and will remain that way until I decide if I want to buy it at the end of the lease. While it can't compete at NOPI it does turn heads and get "nice car" comments while going down the street.

I'm installing a deck lid spoiler on a 2004 Accord LX. I got the install instructions from HandA Accessories. They call for a 8mm drill bit to drill the 4 holes in the deck lid. The 5/16" (7.9mm) drill bit seems too large in comparison to the size of the screws that came with the deck lid spoiler.

Could someone please let me know what size drill bit they used for their installation?
    Thanks in advance.

I have seen a couple of Accords with the center light that flashes once the brake is applied, anyone know where to get this or how it is done.
  • rumpletzerrumpletzer Member Posts: 39
I imagine you've already figured out an answer, but I'll provide my answer for future reference.

I followed the instructions provided on the H&A Web site. It's okay.

Don't look at the size of the bolt, look at the nut. The additional size of the hole you drill will provide you the extra leeway you'll need when that template isn't exactly on. The foam rubber on the underside of the spoiler will keep water from getting in there.

    Good luck!
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
lawdawg: My 99 Accord had the flashing brakelight .. I think the dealer could probably program it to do so .. I don't think it is a different light.
  • wellhallwellhall Member Posts: 20
I park on the street in a quiet residential neighborhood in NYC. As I walk around I see many, many cars with flakes of color chipped off their bumpers. What recommendations does anyone have for accessories to prevent or minimize this from happening?
I saw a reference earlier to a clear bra, but I'm not sure what that is or whether it is more cosmetic than functionally protective, but, even so, I assume it would fit only the front.
I notice some Accords have a black plastic (rubber?) strip about an inch and a half wide adhered to both bumpers, apparently providing some, but not complete, protection. One salesman I spoke with said they don't work especially well (the dealership supplies them, seemingly for no charge, as part of a new purchase), pointed out they would be less attractive on my red Accord than on a silver, black or grey one, and suggested buying some adhesive bumper guards at an auto supply store.
      Your collective wisdom, please.
If this has been extensively discussed previously and someone can refer me to posting numbers for the discussion, that will help, too.
      Thanx.

I have an '04 Honda Accord EX Sedan and I'm looking to replace the speakers. I was thinking either Pioneer or Alpine. Any suggestions on a good set of speakers that gives out great bass and clear sound???
  • jmaxejmaxe Member Posts: 198
Please don't do it ! Those flashing brakelights are very annoying and they don't accomplish much.
  • gatrhumpygatrhumpy Member Posts: 126
Well yesterday I wanted to take off my black bra (that sounded bad didn't it?) that I have on my car. I figured I would wash the front end (I used Meguiers Instant Detailer for the rest of the car), clay bar it, and then wax it. Well, when I took off the bra, there were a ridiculous amount of stones, bugs, and even a used cigarette under the bra. I was disgusted. There were a couple of scratches on my hood, but not as bad as I thought compared to the amount of stones that were trapped. Let this be a warning to everyone using this thing: CLEAN UNDER IT WEEKLY! I'm now only going to use the bra for long trips. I think I might actually invest in clearbra.

Ever since new, I have had intrusive static on strong local FM stations. Dealer has said this is common in my area [DC] and has even swapped the radio. Still static.

Has anyone replaced tge FM antenna embedded in the rear windshield with a metal whip antenna outside the car? Difficult? Caused any problems?
  • snakehairsnakehair Member Posts: 120
I live just outside DC and have the '03 Accord. I have no problem with FM reception. Go to the dealer, ask to listen to another vehicle's FM radio as a comparison. I'll bet there is a problem in your car. Have had the car over a year and been all over DC area with no static on FM.
  • whitecloud1whitecloud1 Member Posts: 268
I too am in the DC area. No problem with radio static. I don't know how far you are from center city, but I've never had that problem with any car I've driven here. I have the '03 Accord coupe. Maybe the anttenna is not grounded correctly.

It would help to know what your price range is.
Infinity and many other (not as mainstream) brands make some great speakers in sizes that will fit your car.

Crutchfield.com and sounddomain.com are good places to learn about different speakers that will fit your vehicle but there are better places, pricewise, to go when it's time to buy.

Oh...one more thing. If you are sticking with the stock Honda radio (or head-unit / HU) it might be a good idea to go with speakers with a high sensitivity rating (= or > 90db per watt). This means, basically, that the speakers require less energy to drive than speakers with a lower rating. And since stock HUs are generally ummm.....weak, this is somewhat important when keeping everything else but speakers stock.

    Good luck.

Has anyone ordered the new Nav DVD disc yet? I saw that Honda sells it for $185 which seems kind of steep. I believe that Alpine makes the discs for Honda and noticed on the Alpine website that they offer discs for different parts of the US. Would those discs work in the Honda Nav System?

I would like an upgraded version because the current version (04) is missing quite a bit of info. I would imagine that a east coast only disc from Alpine would be able to hold more detailed info.

I have a 2004 Honda Accord EX V6 with the factory XM radio installed. I noticed that when I press the "CD/SAT radio" button, it toggles between the following sources: CD--->XM1 presets--->XM2presets. I would like to add an AUX adapter from Blitzsafe. Is it possible to keep the first set of XM presets and delete the second in order to install this adapter? Basically this adapter will plug into the back of the head unti where the factory XM radio goes. Are there two plugs back there, one for each set of XM presets? If so, can I install this Blitzsafe adapter to listen to another sound source that has RCA outputs?
  • gatrhumpygatrhumpy Member Posts: 126
I saw on handa-accessories.com that on the installation instructions for the in-dash CD player or multi-media player that you have to purchase a bus cable 2-port to allow the sound for factory XM-equipped Accords. It's part number 08 A31-0F1-000. If I got an adapter (does Blitzsafe even offer an adapter for the TSX or Accord yet? As of today (10/16/04) I saw on their website that they don't), would this allow me to hook up my DVD player for sound without the use of the FM modulator? Incidentally, I would like to press the "CD/SAT radio" button three times (second XM preset, or XM2) to listen to the sound from one of my DVDs.

I have a two week old 2004 Accord and the DVD disk is more than a year old. When I called Alpine, they told me the one I had was the most current one. Do you think that if one obtained one, additional copies could be made from it?

Not to be a kill joy but are you asking on a public forum (and passing out your e-mail address to boot) for someone to join you in committing a federal felony?

I think you'd be better off pressing Honda a bit more convincingly and persistently.

I have been on www.acura-tl.com and www.acura-tsx.com to get answers to my questions, but I can't seem to get a straight answer. I'm pretty sure this setup will work if you want to add an AUX input to your 2004 Honda Accord with XM radio from the factory, 2004 Acura TL, and 2005 Acura TSX with XM radio from the factory. Here is what you need:

    1.) Honda Bus Cable 2 Port -
     http://honda.autowebaccessories.com...24_127_5510.php

    2.) Blitzsafe adapter - http://www.autotoys.com/x/catalog/H...nd_0_p_200.html

If you have navigation, then you'll have to go to the drop-down menu near the top of the page for the Blitzsafe adapter (where it says "Options" in yellow) and choose the adapter for navigation. It will add $39.00 to the already expensive price, because the adapter for cars with navigation mutes the sound whenever the navigation prompts talk to you.

The other Honda Bus Cable 2 Port adapter is pretty cheap at $29.69.

Here is how you install it:

1.) Go to www.handa-accessories.com. Choose "Honda". Then Choose "Accord". Select 2003-2005. Near the left where it says "Audio & Electronics", choose "Cassette Player", then select "View Installation Instructions". A PDF will pop up. At the bottom right of the first page is what the Bus Cable 2 Port will look like. Pay attention to step 14 on page 7. This will allow you to hook up the Bus Cable 2 Port in between the XM radio interface. You just have to unplug the XM radio interace and plug in the Bus Cable 2 Port in between the two cables you just unplugged. After you connect this, you should have one end of the Bus Cable 2 Port that should be free. This is the end where you have to plug in the Blitzsafe adapter with 14-pin connector.

The Blitzsafe adapter will allow you to input any RCA stereo source you want to. Since I have a DVD player routing video to my navigation screen (in my 2004 Accord) but the sound is FM modulated, I wanted a way top get CD-quality sound. I can then just route the sound coming from the avelectronics TV tuner (www.avelectronic.com) to the Blitzsafe adapter. The Audiobahn DVD player that I have can also play mp3s, which is very cool. After you have this hooked up, then I think you can then just press the "CD/SAT Radio" button four times (or something like that) and a CD-C will show up on the screen, indicating that the stereo thinks that you have a CD changer installed.

I have not tried this yet, but I will this weekend.

How can I change the light bulbs on this model ?
    please help...

I just received the Honda Bus Cable 2 Port in the mail in only a friggin' day! I did the regular ground shipping two days ago (Tuesday night), and it came today! Well after I got the center console apart, I installed the thing without failure. I'm just waiting for the Blitzsafe adapter to get to me.

One thing that was mentioned on the "View Installation Instructions" PDF file for the cassette player when you visit www.handa-accessories.com was the fact that it says to "Locate the vehicle connector blue-taped to the vehicle harness on the driver's side of the center console." In my Accord it was actually on the passenger's side, so watch out for that. It was after I got the damn thing in that the PDF also says, "NOTE: On some early VIN vehicles, the connector may be on the passenger's side of the console."

Oh well, I guess I was too excited about getting the damn thing connected.

Also, I did verify that the connector was interrupting the XM radio. After I unplugged the vehicle harness from the vehicle connector, I turned on the car and the XM radio did not even show up as an option. Just the CD player. After I installed the Bus Cable 2 Port, I tried the XM radio again, and it worked. In order to get the CD-C display on my navigation screen, I need to have something installed and hooked up to the other end of the Bus Cable 2 Port. I hope this Blitzsafe adapter comes this weekend so that I can show people how to do this! I hope this works!

    So far so good!

Was browsing through the accessories on the college hills site. They have australian stuff now. Im really intrigued about a bonnet protector..looks like it would protect the hood from rocks a little and some of their emblems and door garnish. Cool things are available to make my accord a little different then everyones.

It looks like honda has redisigned the sunroof reflector to. Now it looks like the ones that come on the acura. Its all one shape and looks smaller. Ive seen pictures of it on a couple of sites now. Always something that makes me take my credit card out of my wallet..never ends.

I recently had my 05 EX V6 Navi tinted at 20% with high performance tinting. I am now having problems with navigation system tracking my car as far as a mile from my actual position. I just noticed in the Navi manual that it says that some metallic tint can cause problems for the Navi system tracking. I can't seem to get a straight answer from the Honda dealers I have called regarding this.
My question is, do I need to have the tint taken off completely or could I have it replaced with tint that does not include metal in it?
    Please help!!!
  • robr2robr2 Member Posts: 8,805
Well if the manual says that metallic tints can affect the NAV and you have metallic tint, I think you can see what the problem is.

Some tinters will sometimes install a small piece in order to see if it affect the NAV.

IT DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO SPEND. PERSONALLY, I PREFER INFINITY REFERENCE SERIES OR MORE PRICEY KAPPA SERIES. THEY HAVE THE BEST BALANCE OF SOUND AND RELIABILITY. OTHER QUALITY BRAND NAMES ARE ROCKFORD FOSGATE, POLK AUDIO AND ALPINE. SPEAKERS WITH BUTYL RUBBER SURROUND WILL INSURE DURABILITY, ESPECIALLY FOR THE DOOR SPEAKERS. ETRONICS AND CARSTEREO.COM HAVE GREAT PRICES AND REASONABLE S/H CHARGES- THOUGH NEVER USED THEM BEFORE. INSURE STEREO HEAD MATCHES SPEAKERS. FRONT SPEAKERS MAY BE BEST LEFT TO TRAINED INSTALLER.

Has anyone had a problem with the attached nut on the back that holds the license plate on?? It appears to be brazed or glued on. I had one that fell off and am unsure how to reattach (if possible). Would this be a HOnda Warranty item (car is stilll under Warranty)?? Any suggestions??

A friend just bot an 05 EX-L Navi and he's thinking about tinting. Thanks for this post.

Anybody can recommend a good tinting place in Northern CA - East Bay preferable.

I finally got the adapter (blitzsafe) to work, but not after some modification. I had to put in a single pole, single throw switch in between the yellow wire on the Blitzsafe adapter and the bus cable connector. This switch essentially shuts off power to the bus AUX cable and allows XM radio to be played. Before, the AUX audio would come through even though the XM radio was displayed on my navigation screen. Basically the bus cable from the Blitzsafe adapter is programmed to shut off any source (like XM) when it is connected, even if the power source from the AUX source is shut off.

I can now listen to mp3s, DVD videos, DVD-A, XM radio, CD, and AM/FM radio. I love it!

Do you have any documentation or photos avialable for the Blitzsafe adapter & the DVD player installation. Can I know the bestbuy location.

    Thanks

What is the quality of the carpet mats that come with an EX w/V6, Navi, etc.??

How do they compare to the optional carpet mats?

What's the better choice: the optional carpet mats or the all-season rubber type?

    Thanks!
