Does anyone know where to find replacement foglights for my 2001 Honda Accord? The dealers are asking $130.00 a light for factory replacements....RIDICULOUS! Any ideas?? :confuse:
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
Gee, you should have explored the previous post. :) I think H & A should pay me a commission today.

Try here: H & A Accessories... Fog Lights for 01 Accord Scroll down a bit.

Their price is $94.74... still not all that cheap but they are genuine Honda parts. I have no idea if there are non-factory replacements available.
  • dudleyrdudleyr Member Posts: 3,469
I have seen knock offs on e-bay for quite a bit cheaper. The quality may be the same, or it may be poor.

To all of you thinking about 3-M film for your hood and fenders. Its only meant for small debris such as sand and insects. IT DOES NOT PROTECT AGAINST ROCKS OF ANY Size. Maybe the very small ones. If the rock is bigger than the end of your pinky you may very well get damage as I did. Just a warning so you don't end up disappointed as I am!!! Anyone use a nosemask that didn't have to be removed when it gets wet, which is inevitable in the south??

I'm considering purchasing a 2007 Honda Accord, having U-Haul install a 1 1/4" receiver hitch, and using the Yakima Big Horn 4 (for 4 bikes) bike rack.

One concern I have is whether I'll have unrestricted vision out the rear window or whether it will be limited by the bicycles. Does anyone have any experience with a hitch bike rack in general or with this issue, specifically with the Accord or with a similar vehicle (e.g., Toyota Camry)?

For all you VP owners who want to upgrade some features do the following.
The speaker wires for both the rear and the tweeters in the dash are there. You can get the speakers from Honda and install.
If you replace the wiper switch with one for an LX you now have variable interimitent wipers ( I got one on ebay for $18).
I also got a factory rear swaybar with end links and bushing brackets and installed in 5 minutes. ( all holes for mounting are there).

I also got some factory Honda SE wheels and factory rear spoiler on ebay.
For $800 I now have a car that looks great, it has alloy wheels, rear wing and 6 apeaker stereo, rear sway bar and varible intermitent wipers.
The VP doesn't have to look cheap. The alloy wheels made a huge difference.

I have a similar Thule rack on my Mazda Tribute. I know, different kind of vehicle, but the vision is not badly obstructed.

I would recommend a 2" receiver, the 1 1/4" is not that popular.
  • boxcarracerboxcarracer Member Posts: 4
That's good to hear about the Mazda Tribute, but the different kind of vehicle may well make a significant difference. For example, U-Haul installs a Class 3 receiver on the Mazda Tribute but only a 1 1/4" Class 1 receiver on the Honda Accord. As a result, Thule does not recommend more than 2 bikes on a hitch rack with an Accord and Yakima recommends 3 bikes at most (with the BigHorn 4, compatible with a 1 1/4" receiver). I'd love to hear if anyone has experience with a Class 2 receiver installed on a Honda Accord (so that I can carry 4 bikes w/o voiding the Yakima warranty), but it may not be possible.

My partner and I bought an Accord hybrid and had fog lights installed yesterday. We both noticed that there are two holes on each fog light housing and wondered if they were for a grill and if so how and where do we get the grills?
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
This link doesn't mention the hybrid specifically but I don't see any grills: H&A Accessories

I'm sure someone with fog lights will be along to answer your question.
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
If you look at the installation instructions shown on the link above (page 15 of 17 for a 06-07 4 door), the two holes are for aiming the fog lights once they are installed.

Thanks, I looked up the fog light installation on H and A and saw the same thing. I am used to the Subaru Forester's fog lights, they have a plastic grill that goes over the assembly. I looked up the fog lights for all the honda vehicles and none of them have a grill. We thought that they look a little unfinished without a grill. They do make the accord look sportier though. By the way, honda says that the all weather floor mats are not available for the Accord hybrid, just for the Accord. The service manager at the dealership got a set for the front and they fit just fine.

Do you have any idea of how to get to the in dash tweeter location on the 2003 Honda Accord coupe? Specifically, I installed new speakers in the front doors with excellent tweeters, and I want to disconnect the factory in dash tweeters. Where could I find help with this? Thanks.

Carefully pry the cover up from the near-side. The tweeter will be attached to the cover. Disconnect the wires. Replace the cover. If you really need an illustration I can scan it for you.

What speakers did you put up front? I am thinking of replacing mine.

I have a 2007 Accord EX I4 auto and I'd like to replace the rear view mirror with an aftermarket auto-dimming mirror that has a compass and temperature sensor built into it. Would someone recommend a good brand? Thanks.

Has anybody tried a carflector ? A plexiglass strip that protects the hood from rocks and bugs. Also protects windshield some. I drive a lot and I'm tired of all the dings on the edge of the hood. I don't like bras. I had one once and they are too much work to keep the finish nice underneath. Thanks
  • elroy5elroy5 Member Posts: 3,735
The moonroof visors are a complete waste, IMO. It does not quiet the wind noise much at all (only up to about 60mph). It doesn't help the looks, and makes it harder to clean that area. It will only stop rain from getting in if you open the roof just a little, and if you never hit the brakes. After water gets under the visor, wind cannot blow the water off, so you have to wait until the water dries up on it's own before you can open the roof without water coming in on you. I made the mistake of buying a visor for my old car, but I didn't make the same mistake twice.

I personally installed the "hidden hitch" 1 1/4 trailer hitch on my '93 Accord, it took about an hour. I also ordered the electrical t-fitting so that I would have the socket for trailer lights. The hitch was about $110, the wiring was about $40.
I have been using it with a "Rhode Gear by Yakima" 4 bike hitch rack. I can see the bikes in the rear view mirror, but they don't come anywhere near totally obscuring my view.
It takes up more of the rear-view mirror on our Subaru Legacy wagon, but still allows for good visibility out of the back. One of the other things I noticed is the old Accord is much narrower than the Legacy or the new Accord, so it is possible to see the bikes in the side view mirrors as well.
As far as my rack itself, I would definitely pay a bit extra and get one that has some provision to fold down the arms that hold the bike frames. Right now, the rack with the arms out adds about 4' to the car, and makes parking a pain. I haven't decided if the new Accord will get a hitch or use a Yakima roof rack.

    Some great ideas there.
Have you looked into replacing the manual side mirrors with power ones? That's the only thing about this car that can be a real nuisance. Also wondering if you have any idea if the driver seat can be turned into a power seat.

Also, where'd you get the sway bar, and how much was it?

    Thanks!

I am picking up the 2 piece full front end mask and a set of mud-flaps for an '07 EX sedan. The car is graphite so I think it should look okay with the black bra.

They are doing road construction up the wazoo around here, I don't want to spend the whole summer taking road tar off the car.

I haven't looked into the mirrors because that doesn't bother me. I have looked into getting the painted backs for the mirrors, I've found them from Honda for about $16 a side.
I bought the wiper switch and the sway bar and brackets from a auto recycler (junk yard) for $75 including shipping.

I doubt the seats could be converted to power, I think the entire seat would need to be replaced.
  • ldislerldisler Member Posts: 83
This is who I got the wiper switch and swaybar from.

    Thanks! That's very helpful

Do you have the part number for the painted mirror backs? Did you find them at a particular parts store, or from Honda directly?

    Thanks again!

I was wondering if anyone knows if the fog lights for the asian market Accords will fit the USDM Accords? I think they look much better on the car. They seem to be similar in pictures but just not sure and don't want to spend on something that I cannot return for a refund. Any takes and opinions is appreciated.

I bought a Yakima Big Horn 4 bike 1 1/4" hitch rack for my 2007 Honda Accord SE (4 cylinder, 4 door, automatic).

U-Haul installed a 1 1/4" SportFrame hitch on the car, but the rack's tongue/stinger is too long (2" from end to center of hole) for the hitch receiver (1 3/4" from inside bolt attached to car chassis to center of hole).

I don't know if the "hidden hitch" described above is compatible with our car/bike rack combination. Possible problems are:
    1. It too is not long enough for the holes to match up
    2. It goes too far under the car (>8"?) causing the bike rack/bikes to hit the frame of the car (apparently a rather common problem with Hidden Hitch according to Yakima customer service)

I would appreciate any help. We had hoped to go on vacation with our bicycles beginning this weekend. BTW, we live in the NYC Metropolitan area (the Bronx).

It would be great if the holes drilled for the SportFrame hitch match a new hitch. Installation is probably not necessary -- U-Haul has agreed to install another hitch for free, but I'd have to buy/bring it in.
  • lilengineerboylilengineerboy Member Posts: 4,116
Hmm, I would call the hitch manufacturers (Hidden hitch, Draw-Tite, Curt) and see if you can get a measurement from them. I am curious who manufactures the u-haul hitch for them.

I have a Hidden Hitch Class 1 on my '93 Accord and it works fine, and I have a Class 2 on the '05 Subaru and it works fine with the Rhode Gear by Yakima 4 bike 1 1/4" rack. I have also installed a Class 1 Hidden Hitch on a Honda CR-V and had good results with the rack.

Is it possible to re-drill the pin-hole where the bolt goes through? I don't know what structural integrity is provided by that nut in the middle.

I was thinking about trying to buy the pneumatic lifter units for the hood and installing them on my 2007 4 cylinder Accord 4 Door SE

I just wanted to see if anyone has done this before or if anyone knows if it will work without doing any modifications to the car. Was hoping I could just but the left and right hand lifter units plus the hardware (a total of $70 at my local Honda dealer) and put them in.

I'm thinking that the hood and hard attach points will be the same on my 4 cylinder as on the 6 cylinder models that these pneumatic lifters come on as standard.

Ok. . .thanks for any info or help on this !

    :)

I would try to get a 6 cyl next to your car (amybe your dealer will help?) and compare the 2. Just see if the holes, etc. are there on your car to match what the car with the struts has. If not, oh well.

  • edp6edp6 Member Posts: 21
I'm going to go to the dealer and look at an SE V6 4 door and raise the hood and take some pictures.

Then take the pics home to the car and compare that way.

Hope the sales rep doesn't get mad. I'll tell him up front what I'm up to.

I own a 2006 Honda Accord EX-L. The car is Graphite Pearl Metallic (dark).
I have now been hit in my own parking lot TWICE over the past several months. (I'm pretty sure I know which car hit me, but since I haven't actually seen them hit me, there's not much I can do.)
Both times, it was the front passenger side bumper that was hit. The first time, I was able to polish and wax the damage out, and touch it up. This time, it's more serious, as the bumper is scuffed and actually dented a bit.
I saw this product on the 'net:
    http://www.bumperdefender.com/corner_bumper_guard.html
Anyone have any experience, positive or negative? Also, any reasons anyone can think of (other than aesthetics) NOT to put these on?
    Thanks in advance.

picked up some weathertechs for my sisters '05 accord. got the liners though for fuller protection. was a tossup between those and the husky liner mats.
  • blaneblane Member Posts: 2,017
Have you looked for traces of YOUR paint on the other car?

You see those type of stick-on bumper "guards" on some vehicles in the urban areas. Most that I've seen are pretty ugly, unevenly applied, or hanging off. Personally, I wouldn't bother.

If anyone is looking to add a spoiler (wing or decklid) to your 06-07 Accord, there are limited colors at nearly half-price on Handa accessories, so check it out. I'm waiting on my decklid spoiler, which should be here in about a week...has anyone ever installed a spoiler themselves?
  • robtobyrobtoby Member Posts: 2
Oh, yeah, believe me, I've already done that, and also had a neighbor do that as well. We BOTH came to the same conclusion that we know EXACTLY who did it. However, since no one claims to have witnessed it, there's really nothing I can do. Naturally, I can continue to stew about it, and be amazed that someone who lives in my own condo building could do this without coming forward to admit guilt and offer to pay for the damages.
  • dairyshickdairyshick Member Posts: 129
Whatever happened to an eye for an eye?! There is plenty you can do about it, and if I was that sure someone was keeping quiet about dinging up my car, they'd have their own car issues to worry about!

    Glenn,
I'm just about to order a set from partsmaxx.com for my 07 Accord Coupe (4 cyl). From what I've researched, this site offers the lowest price. If you see a better deal, let me know.

I have a 2003 Accord EX-V6 with the OEM accessory rear spoiler. This was installed when the car was purchased new, 5 years ago. Anyway, the spoiler's 3M tape keeps coming undone and the spoiler has a 1/8-inch gap, on both sides. I've had the spoiler taken off from a local body shop (recommended by the dealer) 2-different times and had the TAPE and any other factory parts replaced as well. Back in Sept of this year, I had the body shop again remove the spoiler for a 3rd-time and they added extra foam tape. Well this didn't work either! The tape is coming undone again, and everytime I go through a car wash it gets worse. I'm a car appearance perfectionist and I know all about car washes and how hard they can be on your car. I have NO choice in the Michigan SALT infested winter, but to go through a car wash. Those NO touch car washes do not work this time of year. Anyway, if any body has had this type of problem or has found a fixable solution I would appreciate a response.

I'd like to see some spoilers on the '07 accord sedan. I've only seen a couple on the road with spoilers and want to get one for mine. I have to take another look though; it does look a bit awkward since the '07 has rearlights in the middle.

    Some info:

It treats directories on the burned CD like CD's. So if you have a CD with 7 directories it will call them CD 1 Track 1 for the first CD 3 Track 2 for the third folder. You can navigate through the dirs just like you do the built in 6 CD changer. The steering wheel commands work. No ID3 tags it just displays CD#, Track# and length of song. It doesn't work with the voice commands of the NAVI model but doesn't interefere with them (i.e. you can still switch to XM from MP3 player voice - just not back to the MP3 player). It shows up as CD-P on the dash display. The sound quality is amazing
  • elroy5elroy5 Member Posts: 3,735
I also have an 03 with the spoiler. There are only two screws on each side holding the spoiler on, and they are close together. I suspect changing the foam padding will not do much good. If some screws could be added closer to the edges of the spoiler mounting area, I'm sure that would help. I've noticed that the spoiler is not mounted all that sturdy, but I don't think it will fall off, so I'm not too worried about it. Hope you get the situation rectified to your satisfaction.

For those 4 cylinder coupers who are still looking for deck lid spoiler, I asked my local body shop (who installed mine few weeks ago) to post it on ebay.
I received so many msgs about spoiler, so this should solve yall's problem.
It only took 30 minutes because I didn't drill it, only used the tape =] pretty easy stuff...

Get the portable type and save yourself some major headaches and money. You can get a good Garmin for $100-$130 on Amazon. A great one for $200-$300. And, you have NAV once you change vehicles!

For the record though, the 08 and 09 dashboards are synonymous with one another.

The last discussion on a hitch for an Accord that I see in this thread is a few years old. I'm trying to get one installed on my wife's 2007 Accord Coupe I4 so we can then put on a rack to transport our bicycles.

I came across this thread on driveaccord.net where someone put a hitch (from etrailer.com) on their 2009 Honda Accord and a Thule bike rack. Anyone know if this same setup would work for my 2007 Accord? Here are all the options from etrailer.com. I thought I would take the hitch to uhaul to get it installed (not sure what it would cost) but the description on the various hitches says no drilling required so maybe I can do on my own?

Also, what exactly is this Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8" Rise or 2-3/4" Drop 2000# Kit Draw-Tite Ball Mounts - 3592? When I go to the product detail page of the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for the Honda Accord, 2007Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for the Honda Accord, 2007, it says that this is the recommended ball mount. But, the Hidden Hitch one doesn't have a recommended ball mount

Also, any thoughts on the end tip for the exhaust so that the heat doesn't get to the bike? I saw a discussion on that here: http://www.dirtragmag.com/forums//showthread.php?t=22046
