I put in the birdseye trim and it looks very good...

The trim was plastic and looked cheap but once installed they blended in. I don't spend time looking at it closely, so I don't mind the minor imperfections.... but they're molded and fit right along the contours which makes them worth it...

how difficult is it to replace the headlamps.. ?

How did you install the trunk springs? Did you buy the installer tool or use something else

    thanks

I installed factory fog lights on my car but they only turn on if you have the headlights on too. I understand the reasoning behind that (they're not driving lights) but i still want them on with just the parking lights. Has anybody rewired their lights to do this????
  • haefrhaefr Member Posts: 600
Check your state's statutes before you go there. Driving strictly on fog lights is illegal in many jurisdictions.

Hi, I have a 2005 Honda Accord EXL Coupe and I want to fix it up, but I don't really know where to begin and the costs. Such as the lights, I really want to get the rear tailights replaced with different ones, maybe the ones that are almost all white, with barely any red. I also want to add one of those lights that go on the trunk...but I don't know how to get this done, where to get this done, the cost...can someone help me?
  • rj04accordrj04accord Member Posts: 2
i know, but i'd still like to have them come on with just the parking lights like a little before it gets dark, i think it would look TIGHT!!

So again, if anybody has some advice on this, HOOK IT UP!!!

has anyone had the wood trim installed
  • jake2006jake2006 Member Posts: 2
I am thinking of adding leather from Classic Soft Trim to my 2006 Accord VP (=DX).

I've heard that there is good reason why Honda (or the dealership) do not add the leather - reason being SAFETY (in the eventuality of an accident, the aftermarket leather sometimes doesn't open up the side/curtain air bags).

Is this true? Do we worry about the work of aftermarket sellers like Classic Soft Trim?

    Thanks much!

I just had a remote starter installed in my 05 I4 Accord by the dealer...from the documentation I saw the parts list is either the same or very similar to the 2003 Accord. By the way, it works great, especially if I leave the heated seats on when I put it away for the night. Getting in on a frosty morning not only finds the cabin warm but the seats for your tush also.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before. Initially the high beams would work from time to time. Now they do not go on at all. Bulbs are good. Low beams work when I put them on every time. There is a lighting relay in the fuse box under the hood and I'm thinking it's the problem. Has anyone ever seem this before? The dealer said there is a main lighting control relay and it goes for $160. I'm hoping he is talking about a different relay.
  • byu_dougbyu_doug Member Posts: 1
Hi, Just wondering what ended up happening with your car. I just had both my low beams stop working and think it may be the lighting relay. The high beams still work. Did the part end up costing $160, and was it just one of those larger fuse looking things in the fuse box or what? Thanks. Any advice would help.

Does anyone know of a good sounding exhaust that will fit, or can be modified to fit the 03 Accord V6 4dr? I dont want anything thats too loud or sounds too ricey. Just something with a nice deep sound to it that will open up when it hit the gas.

I will be buying a 2004 Accord EX-V6 next month as I am getting a really good deal. The only thing that I don't like about it is the tail light assembly (for the '04 model). I like the 2005 tail light assembly. Even though quite similar, I like the 05 assembly as it is all red.

I have been trying to research this on the internet but have not been able to come across a single place where I could get to buy it.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy an 05 Accord tail light assembly (if at all they are available), how much it will cost for the assembly and the installation?

    Thanks
  • mrbill1957mrbill1957 Member Posts: 823
Before you spend alot on new tail lights, have you verified that you can swap out 04s for 05s?

The locations for the backup, tail, and brake lights will have to be in the same locations, have the same # of bulbs, and same # of filaments in the bulbs (single or dual function).

Just swapping them out may not work. You could also be talking a re-wiring job as well.

Interesting. I bought a 2005 Accord just recently, I have less than 1500 miles on it and hate the all red tail lights.

I thought somebody offered to switch the taillights before in this forum. Wonder if they were successful. I think the locations of the bulbs etc are all the same between the 04s and 05s.

Has anyone replaced the standard 5 speed (4 cyl.) shifter on a current generation Accord (sedan in this case) with a performance/short throw shifter? I have seen them for most cars, and was wondering if anyone has installed one, and if so, how much was it and how big a difference does it make?

The stanrard shifter is pretty nice, but is pretty typical for a FWD car with throws that are a bit longer and more rubbery than they could be.

I just read that the Honda Music Link (which should be available for the 2006 Accord in a week or two) doesn't display artist/title/playlist info from your iPod. In fact, you can't even see anything on your iPod's display, it only says "OK to disconnect". On Mercedes models, artist/track info is displayed on the dash.

My 06 nissan titan has the aux jack where i can plug my ipod into it by a wire. Yes, mine too can't display title or artist from the ipod. It only says "AUX" for AUX jack. I dont let it bother me though, as long as it plays ipod music..

Maybe the future generation models will have the display on theirs? It's something for the manufacturers to ponder on.

I would have preferred an aux. jack as standard. At least I could still use the display of the iPod.

A short throw shift kit is available from Neuspeed and Comptech. They are identical so purchase by price, around $50.

I installed the Neuspeed myself in an '04 Accord 2.4l 5 speed manual. It is the best money I've spent on the car. Throws are reduced by about 30%. Simple enough for the DIY'er, good directions. The only tough part is getting the ball off of the bottom of the shifter.

Would anyone here reccommend an OEM alarm for a 2006 accord? And does anyone know if the siren can easily be disabled by snipping the connection wire or is there some kind of back up system?

Also, as far as the tinting the 03 Accords and up, my tint guy mentioned that although replacing interior window molds with felts (mandatory for normal window rolling fluidity), you would also have to clean the inside whenever dirt and tiny rocks build up, or you may end up scratching your tint. Here lies the problem, by removing the stock molds your allowing more sound from the outside to travel into the interior, something I brought up with him and he concurred. Basically, if you want to keep an optimal sound barrier, don't tint your new Honda's. (unless someone has a better idea)

One of the main qualities of luxury vehicle is a quiet interior, why would anyone want to give up that is beyond reasonable explanation. If you drove shi*ty cars for years you would appreciate a little peace and quiet.

For those of you concern with maintaining a quiet and sound interior. (From previous experience.)

Loud levels of bass (particularly from subwoofers)can loosen components and cause your car to start rattling while driving.

Lowering your car increases ground noise levels

Adding fat [non-permissible content removed] rims with low profile tires will definitely increase tread noise while decreasing day to day driving comfort. (Unless your comforted by the fact that your car can turn a corner at 50 mph.)

Upgrading traction is only neccessary for older cheap vehicles for normal day to day driving.
(I've done a 720 in a stock 94 civic from someone cutting me off at 40 mph, dangerous AND embarrassing.)

I have a few questions, mabye someone here can help me.

I am getting ready to but a 2006 Accord LE Coupe

    1) I noticed that the radio was only 120 wats, does anyone know if honda is offering a more powerful system to upgrate too?

    2) I wanted a cd played that played MP3's, however Honda's standard system is a 6 disc cd changer that only playys regular cd's. Has anyone hear anything or the MP3 player substitute they are offering. I know its expensive. Or if I installed my own MP3 player, would I lose use of the radio controls on the steering wheel??

    3) Does anyone have more feedback on Honda's Music Link for I-Pods? any info would be helpful.

I have been reading up on it (for my Odyssey), and so far, it seems that the early adopters are very disappointed with it, especially the functionality of the interface and displays.

I don't know anything about stereos, but would like to upgrade my Accord stereo after hearing how good my friend's Mark Levinson stereo sounds in his Lexus.

    Here are my questions:
    1) The Mark Levinson system has a Discrete 5.1 Surround Sound system using a 7.1 Surround speaker architecture, which involves 14 speakers. My 2000 Accord only has 6 (two small ones on dash, two in front doors, two on rear deck). Should I even try to add speakers or are there other options?

    2) What are some recommendations on upgrades and optimal stereo systems? Are there kits available? Should I trust an installer or do it myself?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Considering the source material that is most likely to be played in a car (radio, cds, mp3s) I think 14 speakers is overkill for anything other than a bus but it'll be interesting to see what others have to say.

I think a good set of component speakers up front (with proper imaging), some rear fill speakers, a quality sub, and healthy amplification all around should do justice to just about anything you put in your car.

It depends on what you are going to listen to though. Different systems for different tastes, nevermind that each vehicle is a different challenge too. There is not really any "optimal" system, which is what makes car audio so personal and interesting.

    Important questions are:
    1) What would you change about your current setup - what's not good at the moment?
    2) What are you going to listen to?
    3) What's the budget?

answer those and I'm sure we can come up with some things around here

    lastwraith,

Yours sounds like great advice to runningmike.

Also, the Mark Levinson system was specifically computer designed/tuned to the interior of that model of Lexus by a team of experts. It would be surprising if anyone without the proper design tools and software could duplicate that type of sound in a completely different vehicle.

Has anyone here installed these bulbs on their Accord? Do you see an appreciable difference in the brightness of the light? Please give me the part number so I can go out and get a pair.

Here's what Consumer Reports wrote recently "Premium replacement headlight bulbs are marketed as a functional and cosmetic improvement over the conventional bulbs found in most cars. The bulbs try to mimic the whiter, brighter light of the high-intensity-discharge (HID) lights found on some pricey vehicles. However, while these bulbs emit whiter-looking light, they don’t provide a consistent performance improvement in our tests.... Our tests showed that while they do yield whiter-looking light, premium aftermarket halogen bulbs don’t offer a consistent performance advantage over original equipment bulbs, and they can perform worse. Much of a headlight’s distribution of light is dictated by its reflector and lens, factors that remain unaffected by changing the bulb. And the combination of higher cost and some manufacturer specifications of a shorter life span than standard replacement bulbs add up to increased costs."

I did but they both burned out in about 6 months. They look nice but don't really add any more perceivable light.

I installed these bulbs and they are a lot brighter than the OEMs. Look up Silverstars and you will get the number easily. I have had them about 5 months now and for the Accord, you must order low and high beam bulbs (that's 4) they are not combination bulbs. Installation is a bit of a hassle, read your owner's manual for the exact procedure. You have to go through the fender wells for two of them, To me, they are well worth the money and installation.

I have had a set for two years on a 2002 Escape and the rough riding SUV hasn't bothered the Silverstars at all. The are combination bulbs for the Escape. Visibility is greatly improved by Silverstars, especially in bad weather conditions...my opinion. A lot of reliability has to do how they are handled during installation, after all, they are halogen bulbs.

Hi, given the low hood line of the Accord sedan we are looking for info on a bug shield to minimize paint damage to the hood area.

Has anyone purchased one of these for an 06 Accord sedan yet ? If so, can you please specify the brand and how it fit ?

I have not been able to find one. I'm not sure if Honda makes a front bug/air deflector for the 2006 Accord. AN option is the Nose mask.

I ordered some accessories from www.bernardiparts.com and they seemed to be the cheapest.

Let me know if you find anything because I would like to get my hands on one of those too! Thanks

    Hello,

Got a couple question regarding accessories for a new Accord SE 06 Sedan:

:D Can you guy suggest some good alarm system that can go with the keyless entry built in of the Accord?
:D For wheel lock, splash guard, should I go for the OEM parts ? or should I go with after market parts ?
:D Is there any product that can help support the car from other car (i.e., other cars scratch your car at parking ... )

    Thanks,

My 04 Accord came with OEM splash guards and wheel locks.

The locks look generic, so I would not rule out aftermarket parts.

The OEM splash guards are formed to fit the car, so finding an aftermarket guard that fit as good may be hard to find.

Another option that came with my Accord is the trunk liner. LOVE IT!! It makes keeping the trunk clean a breeze. I hate to think the mess I would have had without it when a gallon of milk leaked out.

I recently replaced the front door and rear deck speakers on my '06 EXL. I went with Boston Acoustics in both locations. At the advice of an audio advisor at a well-known online dealer, I did not replace the dash tweeters. FWIW, he maintained that there would be little potential for sound improvement in the stock location, since the tweeter is not transmitting sound directly to the ear, but is first bouncing off the windshield.

The rear deck speaker swap was a piece of cake. Push up on the clips in the trunk and pry off the speaker grills, remove 4 screws and you're ready to swap speakers. The BA S95 speakers made a BIG improvement in the quality of sound, both in bass and treble. If you wish to use only the stock amplifier, as I did, it's important to select a speaker that is fairly efficient, and the S95's fit the bill.

The door speakers were more of a PITA to replace. There aren't many options unless you downsize from the stock 6 1/2 to a 5 1/4 inch. I went with the BA 65RC because they were shallow mount and fit the opening (barely). Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the quality of new door speakers. The high end was perhaps slightly crisper, but the bass was less than in the stock units. :( Hopefully, the new door speakers will break in and improve over time.

Bottom line: given the time and cost involved in replacing the door speakers, I would highly recommend just replacing the rear 6x9's. You'll have a significantly better sound for not much cost and effort, and you can always upgrade further if the need (and your checkbook) allows.

I recently tried to upgrade my 2003 Accord LX V6 Coupe with an amp and new speakers. Originally, in order not to lose the built in 6 CD changer, I was going to use the stock head unit with hi/low converters going to the amp through patch cables. There was extreme whining noise alternator issues coming throught the RCA cables.

Therefore, I got a new head unit deck with 4V preouts, disconnected the high/low converters and head unit, and rewired to the amp directly. There is still a noise problem, but much less than before. Now when the RPM's go up, you can still hear a faint whine (I have the gains lowered to about 25%). Lowering the gains on the amp helped a lot, but the problem has never gone away for this 4 channel setup. Does anyone know what the MAIN source of noise is on these new Accords? I have done all the basic checks and proper installation procedures (obviously power cord not run along with patch cords) Grounding has been checked.

:confuse: :confuse: college student with an Honda Accord EX Vtec 4 cylinder, I have replaced the radiator, alternator, starter, battery, master cylinder, all belts and hoses, have done all scheduled maintenece oil changes, full tune ups. there was a leak got the run around and end up replacing the valve cover gaskets, oil pan, oil pan gaskets, and got to the real problem of rear engine seal. had a friend drop the tranny and replace the seal. put it back up and a day later the passenger axle broke, fixed it and now the car doesn't accelerate well, lost alot of gas mileage 40-60 mpg, and my RPM's have gone way up when I go at low speeds. Went to a tranny dealer and they said it is in good condition. got several opinions and all say the tranny and shift cables are cool do not know what to do, is their a test to check trouble codes or something. someone help. :confuse: :confuse: :confuse:

Might not be a bad idea to check the power connections to the deck itself (upgrade the wiring there while you're at it) and temporarily reroute them away from as much of the dash wiring / devices as possible. I had one install where the noise was always present in the car but the owner never noticed it because it just never got loud enough with the previous setup. Turned out to be the wiring to the deck.

    good luck

I think your problem with a lack of bass from your new door speakers is that you probably did not buy component speakers, especially considering you didn't change the tweeters. The factory door speakers have better bass because it basically a mini woofer with a some midrange. Put in some component speakers and it will make a difference. I made the exact same mistake on my previous car. BTW, I would definitely recommend changing out the tweeters as well. When you buy component speakers, they always come with a set of tweeters to complement the woofers in the door.

What were the basic steps in replacing your door speakers? I haven't yet attempted this with my Accord, but I have the speakers ready to go.
