Started at David McDavid in Irving (circle jerk between sales man, internet sales mgr. and sales mgr. – quoted one price on internet, then started back at MSRP after driving to dealership), bought from Freeman with zero hassle. In fact, once we decided to take the car, I left my wife to close the deal while I took my son to t-ball game – she made it to the second inning.
That's great! We're looking to pull the trigger on an EX-L this weekend. Dealers drive a slightly harder bargain out here in KC; I've had a couple of dealers walk away from the deal and telling me to take it at 21825, so it looks like I'm as low as I can go (unless anyone has any other ideas).
One thing I wanted to ask, and I don't mean to sound like a grinder (too late I'm sure), but for you folks that are getting the dealer add-ons, are these sweeteners to close the deal, or are you guys just asking up front for them to be included?
In my case, the dealer had three EX-L AT's that had been on the lot for 90 days. He offered any of the three for 21,498 with whatever add-on where on the car. We chose the "desert mist". It had 5 miles on the odometer.
I have a question about the VP 07 models. Does the rear seat fold down allowing more "trunk" space? I thought I read something where the VP package does not have fold down rear seats but the LX does, I could be mistaken however.
One thing I would recommend is NOT getting the Nav system at all.
I would disagree with Dennis on this. While it is true that some portable navi units have some advantages, I love Honda's navi system. Besides a great navi unit, having the A/C, radio, trip computer, calendar, etc. is wonderful. I'm even getting used to the voice commands.
It costs more and some might not think it is worth it but I also don't have to pull the unit out when I park either. Do some research and choose what is best for you. I love this system and don't regret the price I paid.
I hear ya. I don't really want to part with my coupe. It has virtually been the perfect car. We just had a baby and both my wife and I drive two door cars. I am a believer in the second year of the new model because the style is still relatively new and the quirks have been addressed. I will be grieving the loss of the '05 Accord, but wish there was a better way to get the baby in and out of the car.
I don't "have to" pull the unit when I park either because it's in my cell phone that I carry with me anyway. Small screen, but I'm looking at the road, not the screen while I drive, so it doesn't need to be large. It gives great voice directions. I can plug it into the stereo AUX input and hear it over the speakers along with the MP3s on the phone and I can call in the addresses by voice if I don't want to stop to type them in by hand and I hadn't already saved the address in favorites. A nice feature I've used is the "pedestrian mode" that will route you as a pedestrian, avoiding highways and sending you the wrong way on one way streets if needed. It's great when you're in the city and want to find a nearby destination without having to go to the car to use the navigation and then pay to park again when the destination was within walking distance. Same thing when you took public transportation downtown and are exploring on foot.
It makes sense for anyone who already has or were planning to get a compatible phone and are already using the data plan for web and e-mail.
Can you tell me which dealer in Boston you went to in order to get this price? I am looking to buy the EX in the next few days, maybe the EX-L if the price is right.
Your price range for the EX is what I am willing to pay. Can you clarify if that includes TTL or not?
Also, I bought the last Sunday's newspaper and I did see 2.9% APR being offered, so it might be a good idea to ask them about that APR again. I see this at Clair Honda, Honda Cars of Boston, and Charles Daher Commonwealth. But all they have is "2.9% ask for details" they do not specify for Accord.
Boch Honda does specify that the 2.9% is only for Pilot, Ridgeline, Odyssey. NOT for Accord.
Herb Chambers does not post any 2.9% in their add.
Let me know if you are able to get 2.9% APR on any Accord.
Best price was via Bernardi Honda in Natick. Though I plan to have Herb Chambers try to challenge that, we'll see how that goes. I was not able to find a low APR for the Accord, but then again I did not inquire. I may have to call around today and see if that is the case, otherwise I was planning to secure a 5.74% rate with my local CU.
but wish there was a better way to get the baby in and out of the car.
Congrats on the new bundle of joy! I was driving the first gen (first year?) Civic Si when out first son was born. Picking him up from day-care if the afternoons, loading up the car seat in the back, and getting him in the car seat, and getting all that back out at home got old after maybe the 1st day . I had to put up with it for a while, then traded the Si for an Altima. Loved the Si, just needed 4 doors and something cheap.
I would buy a new Accord now, with all the incentives they are about as cheap as a Civic right now.
This is my first time buying a car, I am a college student looking to save as much money as possible. I have a phone quote at $21,300 OTD for the EX Sedan. What do I do next? Or is this the bottom line price that I should just settle on? Any help is much appreciated.
Hi, Alex! First off, never settle. I'm getting internet quotes as low as 19,440 on the EX I4 Auto so you should be getting better quotes for your MT. Keep trying more dealers. Doing internet quotes is painless and if they reply, tell them you got a better deal elsewhere and if they can beat it. Pit dealer against dealer if you have to. It's do-able.
You must be psychic! ups1de posted an OTD price and did not state how much the car is or where they are located, and yet you are able to determine the price is too high ?
No, just need new glasses. I apologize I didn't notice the OTD, thought that he/she was indicating the price before OTD. My OTD price with the lowest quote I got so far would be 20781 so it felt a bit high to me, but of course sales tax depending on where one lives would drive that price higher or lower.
We'll I've finally finished up negotiating and the best deal I got was as follows:
$23,775 - Car $1,902 - NY Tax (8%) $200 - Title, New Plates and Fees $25,877 - OTD
One dealer would not go any lower than $26,000 OTD and the other only said they would match it, not beat it. The only question now is whether to put money down now or wait till next week to see if the incentives get better. The dealer said he has no idea which way the incentives will go. Any suggestions?
Hi, I was going thru my new owners manual and read it somewhere it says I should have received a radio code card with S/N. I was wondering if any of you bought the new car get such a card, I got just the radio code written back of a business card. Thanks
I think our first two Civics had the sticker in the front or back cover of the owner's manual. The code for the Odyssey was stuck inside the cover of driver's side vanity mirror.
Does your price include the $595 destination fee and any dealer "doc" fees?
Invoice on the I4 EX sedan MT is $21,031 so your price is $1,443 under invoice if it includes dest/fee. If they left out the $595 then it is $848 under. There is probably a $1,200 incentive on this car, so the deal is either red hot or could be better.
Hi, I was going thru my new owners manual and read it somewhere it says I should have received a radio code card with S/N.
Yes, you should have a card (about the size of a credit card) with the radio code. It should have been in the package with the manuals, service records, etc.
My 95 and 06 Accords both have cards. The 06 even has one for the navi code.
Literally just got off the phone with the dealer who said he would not go below $26,000 OTD and now he says he'll go to $25,500 OTD. He called me after I had walked out of the dealership yesterday. The actual price of the car works out to $23,426.
Hi guys, I want to buy accord sedan value package, automatic. The best quote I got is 19220 drive-out. It is a basci model with tint ($289) and protection Package (wheel locks, trunk tray, and splash guards, $431).
2007 Honda Accord VP
MSRP $20,020.00 Selling Price* $17,158.00 Tint (two front windows) $289.00 Protection Package (wheel locks, trunk tray, and splash guards) $431.00
Using the triple net approach described by chrylsersrt8 in post # 15222, the base price of a VP i4 auto sedan:
invoice (including destination): 18,208 - holdback [2%]: (388.50) - current dealer incentive [ in Texas ]: (750) = triple net price aka the base price of the vehicle: $17,069.50
-------
You may want to contact a few more dealers (Freeman, McDavid, Bankston are roughly within 10 miles of Eagle) to see if you can get the dealer accessories at a discounted price or better yet, for free (see post # 15426).
I just purchased an 07 VP I4 auto this spring. My price was $17,300 (the only option I got was the mud guards).
What is the "wheel lock" option you are getting? I thought all of the VP wheels were plastic? If I were you, I'd drop the protection package and purchase the mud guards and trunk tray separately. This will save you a little over $200. I've never heard of wheel locks for plastic wheel covers.
Thank you so much for such great and informative posts! I;ve only found you after returning from a dealership in Allston, MA. I need advice quickly on a lease deal:
2007 Accord EX-L (v4) w/Navi monthly payment: $349, which includes all taxes and fees rolled in. (tax in MA is 5%) 36 months/15K miles per year
The only up front payment (down payment) due is one month of payment of $349.
Please let me know if I should be pulling the trigger or shopping for a better deal.
Thanks for your information. Actually, I don't need these oprions, I will ask the dealer to remove it or give me discount. BTW, you only pay $17300 for accord, is that drive-out price? Please let me know. Thanks.
Can you please tell me which dealer. I don't knwo how you got a $18498 price on the SE since all the dealers this past weekend told me the EX price was the same as an SE, but if you could really let me know I might buy right away.
(I'm planning to buy the SE over the EX, but if you need to choose the main things on the EX is the security system which I don't really knwo waht that does and the sunroof. The MSRP and TMV price of those two trims are about $1100-1400 difference, so if that's worth it to you, both are pretty good deals.)
Went to dealers with the intention of buying EX 4Cyl, but when I drove the V6 model, it was just so much nicer and more grounded when I drive above 65 MPH! I know it wastes a bit more gas, but I will be driving mostly on highway and not city streets, so the V6 makes me very happy! I had to get the LX V6 Automatic.
According to Edmunds for Boston, MA
MSRP: $25,795 Invoice: $23,427 includes destination fee of $595 to Boston TMV: $22,898
I am pretty happy with the deal. I didn't get any accessories, nor extended warrantee, nor the "face-bra," seriously can't they come up with another name? how about "front cover" or "nose cover?"
In anycase, they gave me an outrageous APR at 7.9%, when I was hoping for something around 5%. I could have shopped for my own financing, however, most banks seem to charge another processing fee, and I know I will pay off the car much sooner than the term of the financing. They told me they would go down to 6.5% APR if I purchase an extended warrantee costing me $1600. So I said no. The 1.4% APR difference in the lifetime of the loan (66 months) will come out to about $700-$800 if my calculation is correct, and since I know they gave me a good sale price, I wasn't going to push on this APR issue, since I know I will pay this off in two years or so.
The other thing is that the $1200 cash back to dealer did not apply to the LX V6, that only applies to the EX model and perhaps other models. For the LX V6 the cash back to dealer was $750. This was what the dealer told me. I hope this clarifies this issue for some buyers reading this info on Edmunds. Different models will get different amount in dealer cash back.
So all in all, a very exhausting process, but I have to admit everyone I worked with at two different dealers before finally buying the car was much nicer, more polite, and less pushy and rude than the sales people back in Southern California where I bought a Camry and a Corolla for my family in the last few years.
Hope this help some of you buyers out there. There are not many LX V6 models left in New England, I found. But there are plenty of EX and EXL and EXL V6 so make sure you bargain like there is no tomorrow, and if they are rude to you, you can go to another dealer that have nicer people.
Can anyone verify that another difference between the SE and EX model is the ABS brakes? According to Kelley Blue Book, the SE has both disc and drums while EX has all disc brakes. Currently I am shopping for either trim. Thanks.

But other dealers told me this price is impossible. Is this price too good to be true? Thanks
One thing I wanted to ask, and I don't mean to sound like a grinder (too late I'm sure), but for you folks that are getting the dealer add-ons, are these sweeteners to close the deal, or are you guys just asking up front for them to be included?

As with you, the dealer incentives have given me a reason to look at the EX-L, something that otherwise would have been out of my range.
And thanks for breaking down your deal, it'll help some of us here in the D/FW area with our bargaining.
Thanks for the words.

Fold-Down Rear Seatback with Lock
but the VP sedan does NOT have:
Fold-Down Rear-Seat Center Armrest / Trunk Pass-Through with Lock
So the seat folds in all of them, but no pass through behind the arm rest for the VP sedan.
