Also on the Extended warranty, the contract on the Saccucci HC seems to require that all maintenance has to be done according to the manufacturer's suggestions. I never did nor do I plan to follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule religiously. Just wondering if the extended warranty will still be honored.
Thanks
Thanks,
Mike
As per Edmunds Policy I cannot give out names of Sales persons on this forum. The person who called me from the dealership actually quoted a price of $17200 but she said that she could go lower by a couple of hundred dollars if I was ready to buy and put a deposit down on a credit card. She said they really have to move the 2007 cars out.
Thnaks for your reply. I will call them tomorrow and see if it worthwile to go to boston and buy the accord se.
RE on the options:
Security system - The EX (and above) trims also include a "security system" in addition to the engine immobilizer. The additional security system is basically a factory installed version of the alarm system that you can also buy from the dealer for VP, LX, and SE trims. There will be a flashing LED light on the instrument cluster that shows it being armed (from your keyless remote) when it's enabled.
You'll also probably qualify for an insurance discount on your premiums with an alarm system. Honda's retail price $194 but your dealer if they do install it, will likely mark it up considerably especially with labor. You can get it online from a Honda dealer for $136.80; see http://www.handa-accessories.com/accelect06.html. Tip: use the prices on this site as a leverage to bargain with your local dealer if you're planning to buy the accessories locally.
As for the other accessories, such as door guards, trunk trays, all weather mats, again, it's probably cheaper to buy them online but take into consideration shipping costs vs. buying from the dealer unless you can get the dealer to give you the accessories at cost/discount or for free. The all-season rubber floor mats, for instance, retails for $65 but I was able to get them at "cost" when I bought my EX, which was about $42 (they're priced separately for the front and rear mats), and it turns out to be the same price as buying online, thus I saved on the shipping.

David
Apparently most of the Accords sold here in the DC area typically have an "appearance package" already on them (or will be added point-of-delivery). They may include all or some of the following: mudguards, pin striping, door edge guards, wheel well guards, and wheel locks. They'll also typically be marked up with a MSRP of $599 or higher too!
When I bought my EX, my dealer's (Landmark Honda, of Alexandria, VA) "appearance package" consists of just mudguards, wheel locks, and pin stripes. My car came with the wheel locks and mudguards already installed and I requested that they NOT put on the pin striping at pre-delivery/prep. I also requested them to remove the dealer advertising emblem as well.
As ddwmew mentioned, do not pay for them or adjust your offering price accordingly to reflect these added dealer options. Most of the time, they will just throw them in for "free" (meaning they already factored them into the price; this is what Koons Honda of Manassas, VA did) and will rather not remove them from the vehicle.
Regards,
David
Just FYI, the carpet floor mats comes standard with every Accord. Do NOT pay for them.
You'll need to check with your insurance company/agent to see what kind of discounts that you'll get with the addition of an alarm system (either factory or aftermarket). I'd say typically maybe 5-10% discount?

David
Anyone knows about the extended warranty question I had? I was wondering if you have do follow the manufacturer suggested maintenance schedule strictly in order to have the warranty honored. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your info. I called Boch Honda and they said they were willing to sell the car when I mentioned your deal but they need a referral to honor the price. Could you please email me some detail of your transaction?
My email is Jessylee218 at Yahoo dot com
Thank you so much!
Yours,
Jessy
1) Is this a good deal? Should I wait till the end of August?
2) Are floor mats a standard accessory? What other accessories are standard that the dealer may want to charge for?
Thanks
Thanks for the link and the information in the other post. It is too late for me to buy from the dealer as I bought the car last week. I would check with my insurance company on the security system.
One interesting thing is that I compared EX and SE trims on Honda, Edmunds and KBB sites but did not find anything mentioned on the security system. Maybe, I just missed reading it. Had I known about it earlier, it just might have tipped my decision in EX's favor.
I kicked off my search for an Accord SE 4Dr I4 AT on 7/26. I went to the Honda website and shot off requests to 11 of the 15 dealers it showed for my zip code (I wanted to restrict myself to NJ dealers). Only 3 of them responded with a quote which are as follows. The numbers include only price and destination charge.
DCH Academy Honda: $18896
Honda of Princeton:$18996
Garden State Honda:$19446
Including TTL and possibly doc fee (at this time, only Academy stated they had a doc fee), all 3 prices were above $20k OTD which looked excessive considering some deals posted here by people buying in VA/MA/CA etc.
I also got mails from David Michael Honda, Route 22 Honda, Planet Honda and Metro Honda, either asking me to call them or sending some marketing BS.
Following advice on this forum, I checked on carsdirect.com on 7/27 and got a price of $18796. Now, I was sure I could do better than what was being offered. I just forwarded the quote from carsdirect to the 3 dealers who had sent me quotes and asked if they could do better. Only Honda of Princeton came back with a quote of $18696 + Free wheel locks.
This did not help as the total was still over $20k. On 7/28, I decided to get more quotes as this was just not working out. I went to the websites of Open Road Honda and VIP Honda and requested a quote there. I also followed the link sent to me by David Michael and checked their prices on their website. The breakthrough came from Open Road. Their offer of $18196 was $2000 below invoice and more in line with deals people were getting elsewhere. Their OTD was $19923.
Unfortunately, I was tied up that day and could go to Open Road only on 7/30. It seems Open Road was having a clearance sale and Accord SE was sold out in all colors except white (which I did not want). So, I went home and wrote to their
internet sales contact mentioning what had happened and that I was interested in buying if they had another color. I also called VIP honda and got a quote for $18595 (Again, OTD over $20k).
On 7/31, while waiting for Open Road's response (I was desperate to buy at this time), I decided to call Planet Honda and get a quote. I also decided to widen my search area a bit and requested quotes from Burns Honda, Rossi Honda and Keenan Honda (In PA) at their websites. I had found the latter two on this forum.
Here are the quotes I got
Keenan Honda: No reply
Burns Honda: $19306 (Price+Dest)
Rossi Honda: $18196 + Doc fee waiver + Free wheel locks
Planet Honda: $17995 (They decided to beat Open Road's price)
I also got a response from Open Road that they were going to be getting an Accord SE in Silver if I was interested in putting up a deposit. However, at this time BOTH Planet's and Rossi's quotes were below Open Road's. I decided to let Open Road's offer idle for a bit since Silver was not the top color on my list anyway.
Rossi's OTD was around $70 below Planet, mainly because Planet was charging doc fee and Rossi was waiving theirs. However, Rossi is around 100 miles away from me and I couldn't justify going that far for $70. So, I dropped a mail to Rossi asking them if they could do better. Just before I went to Planet to buy, Rossi called me with their new offer - $17763. They also promised to get me the color I wanted.
I asked all dealers who had given me quotes if they could beat this one but nobody could come close (Honda of Princeton sent me a revised offer of $19908 OTD).
Here's what I finally paid.
Price including destination: $17763 ($2433 below invoice)
Tax @ 7% : $ 1243.41
Title, Plates, 4 Yr Reg : $ 234
NJ Tire Fee : $ 7.50
Total OTD : $19248
The buying experience at Rossi was great - they had my paperwork ready before I walked in and they were attentive to everything I asked or pointed out. They also threw in free wheel locks and first free service. Their OTD price was more than $500 lower than the next best offer and some dealers refused to believe that I was getting it.
Planet Honda, Honda of Princeton and Open Road Honda were the next 3 best offers and I would have bought from them if I were not trying to squeeze the most out of the deal.
Lowest I got from Rossi was 18,500.
Even their first quote on SE for me was $18196 incl dest. The posts where I picked their name from have $16900 (an exception) and $17850 quotes on SE. And this is roughly 10 days back. Get a few other quotes, play the "beat the price" game.
BTW, I forgot to mention that I did a cash deal.
Could use some help.I am getting quote from different dealers here.
For eg.
$20498
$20700
$21450
All these are before destination and taxes.I would appreciate if someone could suggest if I could go for these prices.
Yes, it's for SE. The 18.5K was his original quote and never went down from there. This was about 2 weeks ago.
About 10 days ago, I went to Keenan and got the same price as others got here but they lowered my trade. They started my trade at 9K for a 2005 Altima, 22K miles, and then to 11K and then to 12.2 but I want 12.5K.
If they started my trade at 11.5 or 12, I might take the deal (at 12.2k) but I was really pissed when they offered me just 9K.
The reason why my OTD price of $19,716.52 for my EX (#15715) is different from ddwmew's OTD price of $18,781 for his EX (#16032) is because they were different dealers.
My I4 EX 5AT was purchased from Landmark Honda of Alexandria, VA while ddwmew's I4 EX 5AT was purchased from Sport Honda of Silver Spring, MD. and they were about 2-3 weeks apart. Incidentally, I believe Sport Honda has stated that they are unwilling to sell any more Accords at the prices that he paid. My price was based on a price match with a competing dealer (Sheehy Honda of Alexandria, VA) which had a July 4th special that took the other dealers by surprise during that day and I leveraged that into the deal, with ddwmew's help. He would have bought from Landmark as well with me that day, but since they couldn't deliver a car that day until two days later and he had to leave town (vacation), he decided to continue shopping upon his return, which turned out to a good strategy that paid off.

2007 accord coupe
including my trade
i love the car, but had jus one question... i thought the doors were suppose to have the auto lock... as soon as you drive off the doors should lock right?
please advise
im going to go back to the dealership to make sure my car has the auto lock
RE auto locking doors
Not that I'm aware of. There is no mention of automatic locking of doors anywhere in the brochure of the 2007 Accord nor is it mentioned in the owner's manuals.
I hope you didn't buy the car because the salesperson told you it had that feature.... :confuse:
So far with internet dealers the best I can get is....
Accord Coupe EXL V4- 20,000 (including destination)
Accord Couple EXL V6- 22,200 (Including destination)
What should be my goal? I am a 21 year old male...is the insurance on these going to be sky high? Should I consider getting the 4 door sedan?
Thanks
Which dealer was it ?.
I got a quote for about $1300 more, also in LA are so that sounds like a good deal :shades:
i test drove the civic and it had that feature, so i would think if everything else is automatic on the accord then the doors would auto lock
oh well..its not that big of a deal, i just want to make sure the car has every feature that it should have
Request Falmouth from post #16255 send you a copy of Ourisman Honda email of $3k below invoice and no processing fees.
Send this email to your local Honda Dealers for price match. Me email to dealers would read something along these lines.
Ourisman Honda is offering $3k below invoice and no processing fees on in stock Accords. (See attached email).
Interested in an 2007 EX or SE with 4 cylinders, cloth and automatic transmission.
Need to know if your dealership can match or beat this offer and save me a trip to DC.
Based on Ourisman email my offer is below:
My offer price is $17,160 + dest ($595)+ pro fee ($99) + TTL (~$600)=~$18454
MSRP: $23350
Invoice: $21160 (Edmunds)
Sales Price: $18160
Dest: $595
Proc Fee: $0
Tax: $???
Tags: $???
OTD: $18755+State Tax+Tags
This will eliminate any surprises if the number change upon arriving at the dealership .... then walk.
Also, notice did not include dealer add-ons (mats, door edge, wheel locks, pin stripes, etc).
I just emailed this dealer and his price is very high. I think it's low 18 + 100 fee + Dest. + TTL for a SE 4cyl. He said the 3K off is only for V6 EX-L and it was for last week. I like these sale people. :surprise:
The only thumb rule in the game is playing dealers off each other. Typically, the ones that would go the lowest are volume dealers or dealers away from major urban centers.
The reason I did not go cross-state was that I did not want to go into the issue of cross-state processing fees (which can be hidden at times). Also, I am close to NYC and it did not seem logical to me that NYC dealers would be selling cheaper than NJ dealers. I did try Keenan Honda in PA at a later stage and would have ventured further into PA if I had not gotten the deal from my dealer in NJ.
It is unlikely that anyone will throw in a security system considering that the Honda price on equipment alone is close to $200. My dealer had quoted $340 including installation (I gave a quick look at the self install guide and decided it has to be for DIYers)
On the other hand, wheel locks are only $58 and you can install them yourself (In case you haven't seen them, wheel locks are just bolts - 1 per tire. They can only be unscrewed using a specially patterned key).
You will most likely find the coupe is more costly to insure than the sedan, and the V6 is more costly to insure than the I4 as well.
Can you fwd a copy of Ourisman email stating $3K below invoice and no processing fee to my address (ddwmew@cs.com)?
Thanks
