No it is not. It was dynoed at Vtec.net and 2008 buyers are realizing little performance benefit of the 3.5 over the 2007 3.0. Maybe extra weight is canceling out the extra power. Also, if he already drove the 4 cylinder and was satisfied with the power, why spend more money to purchase a V6 and use more gas when you don't know what fuel prices are going to be next year or 5 years from now? The trend over the last few years has been large fuel price increases with no reason to expect that to change in the next few years.
hi guys.i havent seen much reply of my post #18298 regarding the deal i got on the coupe.can u guys share your thoughts on my deal of 08 accord coupe ex auto for 23250 including destination.withpro pack and spoiler.did i get a good deal?
Anyone here get pricing on 08 Accord 4dr Auto EX-L w/Navi in Tri state area. I am in search for one, would like to get it in next week or two. Please advise on some pricing you might have gotten. As per my research it seems like if I can get 28,000 or below OTD then I am getting a pretty good deal (almost invoice or below invoice). Apperciate your comments/feedback.
I've been going around to different dealerships and had the worst experience yet at Ourisman Honda in Bethesda.
I went in and asked to look at the above referenced Accord. They had two in stock. After a couple of pleasantries, we test drove the car and came back to discuss. The salesman was ridiculously pushy. I asked them to take a look at my car for trade in value and started talking to him about the price.
To my surprise, he would not quote me a price. He asked me what I wanted to pay, I asked him how much he was selling it for, and again, he asked me what I wanted to pay. So, I told him I wanted it at invoice OTD, including TTL. He said "that's not reasonable". So, I asked him what he wanted to sell it to me for. Again, he wouldn't quote me a price. Kept telling me to make a reasonable offer. We kept going back and forth like this until my fiancee and I started getting annoyed. Then the guy who had been checking our car for trade in came in and spoke to him in the office with the manager. When he came out, I asked him how much they were offering me in trade in on my car. His response was "How much do you want us to give you for you to drive out of here today". I asked if we were going to do this run around at every turn, and he said "we want to get your business" to which my fiancee responded "You're losing our business very quickly".
Finally, I said that we were leaving unless he was willing to tell me what they were asking for the car. He asked me if I would be happy with "something in the 30's". I told him there's a lot of range there, but if he was offering the car to me at $30k OTD I would listen. He then wrote on the paper "$32,000 will take delivery now" and asked me to initial the form.
At this point we were livid and said we were leaving. I then had to ask for my car keys back...after about 15 minutes of telling him "We're through, can I have my keys back" he would go in and talk to his manager. After a while he finally relented and gave me the keys.
10 minutes after we left he called me and said they would offer me the car at $29k +TTL. Honestly, I'm going somewhere else. Worst...Experience...Ever.
Good for you! Seriously, no one has to put up with that! Obviously that is not how you sell a car. A dealer would risk losing a customer over something like the lack of customer service. All they have to do, is calmly state what they want, and you as the customer can go from there, you can decide whether the deal is acceptable.
I think it is crazy how dealers are treating the new accord like its some rare car, like some sports car and only a few made. Oh well, the longer dealers do this, the sooner Honda will apply an incentive! My point is, keep a car on the lot collecting dust, or get the moving at an acceptable profit. They are already making a profit on the deal. $32,000 will give you many more options for a car. Some dealers won't even bother calling you back. That is how scumy they are, they have the opportunity to redeem themselves as a good dealership, but they fail everytime!
Don't accept the offer, it will only be the beginning of all problems.
This is exactly what BOB ROHRMAN HONDA DOES IN LAFAYETTE IN!!
I also had a very similar experience with O'Hare Honda in Chicago. I will never buy a car from this dealership they lost me forever. There is no wonder if more and more people are experiencing the same thing from the entire dealership in the country. Honda is definitely loosing the market because of stupid dealers.
jb_turner -- you never think a deal is good unless they got it under invoice - - I'm still of the opinion that most people cannot achieve that goal! Although members on this board have achieved unbelievable deals on the 08 Accord, I don't think they are necessarily representative of the over-all market.
amir -- I, however, agree with jp turner -- you already bought it, don't torture yourself by going to the forums after you purchased to see how you did. I bought my 08 Accord only 2-3 weeks after it was released, and I paid too much. So what! I'm enjoying it now and the money that I lost isn't going to kill me Go enjoy your nice car!!!
If you look on Ebay, you'll see a $34,000 08 Accord EX-L V6 WITHOUT navi. Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the MSRP on this model about $28k at list price? They've added the chrome wheeels, spoiler, tint,
In reality, how much do you guys think the mark up is on this model?? I am thinking about $4-6k. ROBBERY, but legal, hopefully we are all smarter than that.
It is beautiful though!!! The White Diamond looks great with tint, and chrome wheels. Go look at it!! 08 Accord
Don't buy yet, with the GM and Ford cash back Toy has jumped into the fray with incentives on all except Camry....won't last HMC will have to follow ..inventories are backing up...IMHO HMC will soon be forced to offer back side incentives to their dealers..don't buy and it will happen sooner
I had a good experience at Walsh Honda in Macon, GA. I tried to get an '08 EX-L at invoice, but no luck there. However, the staff was very courtious and they didn't laugh at my offer! I ended up buying an 07' with a V-6, and I feel that I got a heck of a deal on a great car. I really wanted the '08, but didn't want to fork over the cash right now.
I took delivery of it last night. The car seems great so far. I agreed on a price about 6 weeks ago when the car was allocated to the dealer. At the time, the deal was good, now it's average. In retrospect, I probably should have waited until delivery to negotiate.
To those interested, IMO, if you request internet quotes from 10-20 dealers you can definitely buy the Sedan at invoice now. And that includes any doc/prep fee. And if you can do that, then the only one disappointed with the deal would be jb turner.
Come on, there must be something that you allow to create happiness in your life!
Seriously though, I'm usually the biggest bean counter around, but for whatever reason, over paying by >$500 is not bothering me this time around. I must be getting soft in my old age.
It's very interesting. I have been aiming real good for a loaded one exactly like yours. My preferred color will be, in order (1) Mystic green, (2) PM metallic and (3) Beige. It appears Honda knows it all so they made this model with all "conservative colors" except the red and may be the white. All other colors look fine to me. They make buyer look like a retiree, to-be retiree or a 50s something. Thanks for info. and advice.
I remember you had posted that you want an EX-L V6 Navi. All I can tell you is this car is even nicer than I thought it would be. Granted, I've only driven it 100 miles.
This is my first Accord. I've been a Camry owner in the past, but the Camry transmission issues scared me a little.
That Mystic Green color is beautiful. I probably would have gotten it, but it is only available with black interior. Black interior is a "no go item" for the wife. The PMM is available with the gray interior as well as the black.
Which one of your Accords would you be trading in?
Poor guy ! You've been missing all (Honda) fun for so many years. A week ago I brought my "pampered" '02 V6 EX at 6O K miles to the dealer. They gave me only $7,500 for it at their "wholesale price". It's worth $11K to 13.5K, at least. Forget about that dealer. I am going to sell 1 of my 3 Accord to buy the one exactly like you.
Please report to us in details how you like your new "baby '08" in terms of:
- VCM - Transmission shifting... - Acceleration - Road noise - NAVI (100% voice activated ? Ex: You say 15 Happy Court, San Jose...and the Navi guide you to that address, etc.) - Stereo...
Thanks a lot, buddy. I am going to join your " '08 Accord gang" soon.
What was model year and trim line did you buy? '08 V6 or I4? EX-L or just EX, etc. with Navigation or without? We like to know the price too, before OTD, if you dont mind. It's good that we share experience and purchase strategies to help us bargain with greedy sale managers.
7 year 100k Honda Care will cost you $1500.00 Best price you can get this car for will be $21.654.00. plus tax tag and dealer fees. This is what you can expect if you live in florida.
What type of Accord are you looking for ? V6 4dr without navi will cost $25.302.00 and with navi $27.213.00. 4Cyl without nav will be $23.391.00 and with nav $25.302.00 This is problably the best you will be able to negociate here in Florida. If you have any more questions, let me know.
I recently got a quote for a 2008 Accord EX Sedan (Auto) for $22.595 plus TTL.
MSRP: $24,495 Invoice: $22,255 (per Edmunds)
This basically translates to $1,900 off MSRP or $340 over invoice. It sounds like a decent deal to me. Anybody have any thoughts as whether this is a good deal or not.
Quotes do not mean anything... what matters is the OTD price. A dealer can have the lowest quoted price however after junk and BS fees can have the highest OTD price.
I just bought the same vehicle in NY for $24,232 + TTL. I figure that I could have done $200 better, but it was a fair deal at a decent local dealership.
Price in FL is too good to be true compared to California here. I plan to buy a '08 Accord V6 sedan EX-L w/ navi. , mystic green metallic or any other color except red, white or silver. I am also working up my butts to get rid of one older model Accord and put my finance in array to buy that dream car soon.
It means in Florida '08 price is about $1,500+ cheaper than California. Probably, the retiring folks in FL love to buy & cruise 15MPH in their big Cadillac V8 along the coasts. Therefore, the Accord price is so cheap.
I am very impressed with the new Accord and am seriously considering the EX 4-cylinder. I also drove an EX-L V6 and loved the additional power, but I HATE leather interior (yes, I'm a freak). There is an EX V-6 model with cloth interior, in theory at least, but I haven't been able to find one anywhere in the Atlanta area.
Has anyone ran across one of the EX V-6 (as opposed to EX-L V6)?
yes...I did buy EX V-6 in Polished Metal Metallic color with black interior and love it. You should search local dealerships through internet and get some quotes for EX V-6. I did not want EXL V-6 with extra $2000+ just for leather and dual auto climate control which were least important features for my need.
You asked how do they sell the car below invoice if there is no manufacturer to dealer incentives or rebates? Am I missing some incentive or rebate?
The answer is quite simple - the invoice is not what the dealer pays. That has been a gimmick in the car industry for years. Nobody in any business (other than perhaps a family member) is going to tell you how much they paid for something. From my past experiences I have learned that if a dealer sells the car AT INVOICE he stands to make about a 15 to 20 percent profit. If a dealer has to get a car from another dealer, why would he sell you a car at invoice and give another dealer several hundred dollars to transfer it to him and give the salesman several hundred dollars for selling the car? What the dealer paid for the car is irrelevant to you - what you pay is all that matters. You've probably heard that a car loses a bunch of money as soon as you pull it off the lot. The market system works very well. The difference between what you paid for the car and what it is worth as soon as you pull off the lot is probably pretty close to what the dealer paid for the car.
I have learned that if a dealer sells the car AT INVOICE he stands to make about a 15 to 20 percent profit.
Where did you learn this? So you're saying for a 20,000 car, the dealer is making 3-4,000 profit? I think the margins are just a little bit lower than that.
I agree with most on the price below invoice. The question for all of you is if we can WAIT for the right moment.
The housing slump is not over yet. What the rush? I went to the local open house, the price was lowered 5 times in past 6 months. I met the home owner who had a 2007 Acura RL with 20000 miles and liked to sell it for $34,900. Why? he needed the cash to make monthly payment.
The black book indicated $35,700, he paid $50K for it. $15,000 for 20,000 miles ($0.70/mile in depreciation). What a bargain here. I decided to buy this one instead of a new 08 Accord V6 EXL with Navi($35K OTD as many here suggested).
I urge all of you DO NOT pay over $30K on OTD for any 08 Accord. Your money will be spent more wisely on Acura should OTD is over $31K.
I know that the dealer still makes money even if they sell the car for invoice due to dealer holdbacks and maybe other incentives for volume etc., however, I find it hard to believe that the profit is 15 to 20 percent. Plus it is difficult to get any dealer to give you any of the holdback money or even discuss it.
I agree that you can probably get the car for invoice or atleast a couple hundred over invoice. Below invoice would be very difficult in my area.
That being said, my current deal is for $340 over invoice and I probably can get them to budge a couple hundred more.
The Accord EX-L quote I mentioned in my post at $24,403 plus TTL is an automatic.
Regarding Acura, I currently drive an older model TL and love it. In fact, I still like the older model TL better than the new ones, mainly because of the softer suspension and also the look. Call me a traditionalist, but I like the smoother lines on the older models rather than the pseudo-BMW look they're looking for in the new models (yes, I realize that the new TLs have a lot more power, but my TL has enough for me). With that said, I would buy another Acura IF they had something sporty, with great styling and a softer ride. That's why I am strongly considering the new Accord coupe. I don't believe there's a current Acura model that compares for the money -- new or used. And, by the way, the RL has received lots of so-so reviews in the past. It is not successful for Acura due to it's bland styling, overly complicated bells and whistles (for most people) and high price. If I wanted a car in that league, I would probably consider an Infiniti or Lexus. But right now, I think the Accord coupe is the best value in its league.
invoice is NOT what the dealer COST is. Dealer holdback pays for the showroom, electricity etc etc. You wont get into that. But even if a dealer sells at INVOICE, they still make about 2k not counting holdback.

The trend over the last few years has been large fuel price increases with no reason to expect that to change in the next few years.
Towards the end of October I purchased a new graphite 2007 Accord V6 EX-L Sedan in South Florida for about $22,780 - out the door = 24,260.
Not sure if I got a decent deal. I've looked through some of the posts here but see mostly 2008 posts lately.
Does this seem like a fair price for 07?

I will $30K on Acura TL instead of Accord.
Frankly, I like to spend $100K getting MDX SE and RL in 3 years. They are the best cars in the world. :P
Invoice = 28039
