Hyundai Sonata SE 4 cylinder, no extra options
price - 2000 rebate: 17,625
doc fee/ tags: 200
7% sales tax: 1,266
Total OTD: $19,058
How's that sound?
IMO the two cars drive differently. Which one do you like better in ride/handling? Also, in a few months you will have an "old" Fusion--it will be revamped in early 2009 as a 2010 model. Maybe you don't care about that and maybe it won't affect resale significantly, but maybe it will? The Sonata will probably be redesigned in 2-3 years anyway.
This is a decision where the level of dealer service could be a factor. For example, my local Hyundai dealership gives me free oil changes for life of the car (every 3750 miles) and is very convenient for me, and they have served me well over the years. Maybe one of the dealers has some advantages for you one way or the other?
congrats on ur great deal on the 09. I'm trying to get the same deal and was wondering which state u live. i'm in the nj/ny area and looking for a bargain. thanks for ur help.
Get your current car detailed.. that can do the trick for awhile.
You get an "atta boy" for that one.
Another way to beat the new car bug is to get a really nice used car. Just did that one.
more than this?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Town Hyundai, in NJ, a bit far from you is offering '09's Azera at $3200 under invoice (including the $1000 rebate). Plus you'd qualify for the loyalty rebate of another $1,000.
So you could get an Azera Limited w/ Ultimate pkg and floor mats for $24,826 + TTL and doc fee. That's over $6400 below MSRP.
If you're interested in an Azera you could try using this info in negotiations with your local dealer.
Frankly, you'd be better off buying elsewhere (Hyundai has very aggressive prices and quality products with better mileage/warranties/features) and looking at total out the door price both with and without their financing. If all you want to do is look at monthly payments, you need to go there with an adult friend who can occaisionally let you sniff their large cup of coffee.
Kind of getting insulting there now aren't we? Don't appreciate it. I am considering all avenues in the financing area including writing a check for the entire amount. I'm 52 years old and a Marketing Analyst. I have a grand total of $6100 in total debt. Own my home totally and have a net worth of much much more than most people with the plan to retire at 60 years old. I certainly am an Adult. Please if you don't agree with someone's car purchase choice then don't act childish yourself by throwing out insults.
Where = hyundai of wesley chapel
When = Oct 26, 2008
Fitzgerald auto mall in Clearwater lists their internet prices and that is where I got my starting info for negotiating the best price.
(carpeted floor mats, cargo mat, cargo net)
MSRP: $26,125
INVOICE: *$
Sale Price: $23,645.75
Sales Tax (8.75%) = $2,069
Sub total with tax= ($25,714.75)
NY State Inspection: $10.00
Doc Fee: $45.00
Registration Amount: $67.75
Fee: $12.50
New Total Before Rebates: $25,850
Rebates: -$2,500
OTD: $23,350
***not sure exactly how much under invoice I really got it for because i never asked to see the invoice, I worked the final deal over the phone, but the same vehicles invoice I saw at my local dealership was 24,900, so around $1500 under, but I see some invoices on this forum that are lower than that (and according to edmunds invoice is ($24,984) **
I ended up buying it from an upstate NY dealership in Syracuse area instead of going to NJ to save a few hundred maybe. Anyway I look at it I LOVE the car and thank everybody here for their great feedback and help along the way!
Neither Manassas or Fairfax include the vehicle destination fee in their Internet Price so that would also be additional, although they both include it in the MSRP listing of their vehicles.

where - Jersey City, NJ
what- 2009 Sonata GLS PZEV AT with floor mats and mud-gaurds, cherry red color (no other options)
How much- $17,700 OTD ($16000 car price incl. destination after rebate + 7% NJ tax + $240 registration + $210 documentation charge)
Because the manufacurer's MSRP is $19900 for the GLS PZEV 5A, no? While the GLS manual transmission MSRP is $18700. So wonder where the dealer got the 19500 from. Any ideas?
When and where did you get this deal - in and around Jersey City NJ? with 7% tax?
Was it Manual Transmission or Auto ?
And was it a demo car or new car?
Yes, if we sell enough to hit our targets there can be money that comes back to the dealer, but it is much less than we give away to earn your business, and not nearly enough to put up with the people who always think we are lying and not showing the "real" invoice. That attitude is indicative of a very unhappy individual with whom I would rather not deal, and certainly not the basis of a long term relationship.
There may be some better deals out there, but if they are several hundred miles away....
v4 21105 + 1040 (in what i call bs fees) + tax for an OTD of price 22321. With 0% financing.
With 'normal' financing it would be 1 thousand cheaper then that. (Kinda defeats the purpose to me of 0% financing as an incentive if you then charge more).
Also, they want an additaonl 1500 for NAV in the car.
This seems awfully high given what some people are posting about on here....
What do you all think ? Thanks!
The four cylinder isn't a V4, but an inline 4. That said, you might check these two places nearby for the best deals:

I plan to hit them hard for a 4 cyl limited soon. Good luck.
Bob
4 cyl LTD w/o NAV=$20039 cash or $21039 financed
4 cyl LTD w NAV = $21176 cash or $22176 financed
No other accessories (like floor mats or cargo net) in above prices.
I paid 18,700, 598 dealer fees, plus Tax and Tag. Total came to 20,200 OTD. You have to pay tax on the rebates. I went to Coconut Creek Hyundai in Broward Florida. I first went to Rick Case in Davie FL. They wanted $21,500 plus Tax tax and title and were not moving on the price. My price included a $2500 Hyundai rebate, and 2500 dollars dealer rebate at Coconut Creek Hyundai. They were all very nice. I negoiated the price over email with the internet sales dept. Do not pay more than 19,300 with dealer FEES anywhere. I love the car. Fun to drive. Nothing fancy but great transportation. the Infinity Stero is kind of weak but OK.
I did not take the zero percent financing. They have new car financing for 4.74 percent. Not to bad. To bad they put the cheap chinese tires on the new limited sonatas. Good Luck!!!!!!
Recently I purchased Hyundai sonata Limited V4 for 19950 + tax. Even I live near Philadelphia and I purchased from Piazza Hyundai. Probably you can get for that price, may be even 1-2 hundred less.
The sticker on the sonata was $20,345 and I got it for $16,491+570 taxes and 549 fees. total $18,100.
I bought mine at Johnson Hyundai in Cary NC, sent in an Email through their web site, dealt with the internet salesman, he was very professional and did not waist my time. hope this will help.
