Sounds like that package is going for somewhere around $16,000 plus TT&L. Not sure why we pay more here than other parts of the country but apparently we do by quite a bit it seems. Yes, I think location plays a big part of it as does inventory levels,

So what's the current OTD price in Dallas?
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23

One of my friends who is living in Columbia,South Carolina just bought a 2010 Sonata GLS Auto. The OTD price is $15,900. What's wrong with Texas......sigh

    1856 7% tax
    7.5 NJ tire tax

Internet person (not on site)- Jim at Lynnes Hyudai in Bloomfield NJ 973-743-2111 ext 1113. The onsite sales person was Steve Eveillard at 943-743-5100. In and out in 20 minutes. Steve and the manager are a pleasure to wok with.

My walk in price at another North Jersey were about $2200 more for the car line item listed above. They called my every 3 days for one month trying to sell me the car for 27900.

Are people really that stupid to still walk into dealerships and negotiate with a salesman?

If you're in Tampa, check out Fitzmall over in Clearwater. Also, if you sign up for the Hyundai "Think Tank" you can get in on the Associate Purchase Program. I have my claim number but I haven't attempted to purchase a Sonata yet so I don't know how smooth the APP process works. The price quoted on an SE and a Limited from the APP website are both very good. :)

Am looking at a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with the nav/package. Car is listed at 26,200 and dealer has added another 1,200. for dealer installed options bringing total to 27,400 and another 2,100 for nav/package. I've looked at several dealers in my area (Massachusetts) and all the dealers I have seen prices of 26,200 for same exact car plus 2,100 for nav/package which is a total of 28,300. It appears the 1,200 dealer installed option added to the sticker price is a "ripoff". I bought my 2006 Azera from this dealer and also my fiancees 2010 Hyundai Accent from the same dealer. I, obviously, like the dealership but not this 1,200. However, I have not sat down with the dealer to discuss the price. I am taking the 2011 Sonata out on my own this Thursday and if I like it I will sit down with the dealer and discuss price but I would like to know if anyone has had expierence with the added dealer installed option price.

Houston Hyundai dealer is ...pathetic! I have been quoting on 2010 GLS auto (base, no add on) for a month now. The best quote I can get is $17400 OTD. I probably will buy a CIVIC.
  • emengaemenga Member Posts: 21
I saw people getting $15800 OTD. Maybe some of us houston buyer can do a group buy elsewhere?
  • akeiyakeiy Member Posts: 22
Dallas? I am also looking for 11 Sonata for more than a month. The best OTD price I get is 21800....hardly a little discount
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
Which one? Ron Carter? North Freeway? They are always playing tricks on me, and I am also very tired of negotiating with them. What's the OTD price for a CIVIC in Houston?
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
You mean other states? Maybe we can try NM, OK, LA?
  • dansimdansim Member Posts: 6
I have 2 offers for about $16500 on base Sonata GLS's. I live in Mass. I know it wont help you in Houston, but thought I'd throw my expewrience out there . One offer is in south NH about 50 miles away. another one closer - about 20 mi away. I am hoping to get to $15K, but not having much luck. Here is detail of one deal. I wonder if anyone has ideas on what else I coud suggest. Ask dealer to apply more of factory to dealer discount? toher? Also, there seem to be tons of 2010's around so I thought Id get more aggressive pricing from dealers I've contacted via Internet.

I live about 90 minutes east of Houston, just east of Beaumont, and Hub Hyundai in Houston is the Sam's club partner for this area. I talked to them via e-mail, while working with a local dealer in hopes of avoiding the drive and the Houston traffic. After I told the Hub internet salesman what numbers I was looking at at the local dealer, and that I was looking for reduction from those numbers, I NEVER heard another peep out of them. They could have at least said "sorry, we can't do any better" or something...... Anyway the local dealer is Philpott Hyundai in Nederland, and we ended up agreeing on a lease deal that was $65 less per month than the numbers I sent to Hub. Also, they do have some 2010s left, but they might be down to only limiteds now

Pegasus17, thanks! I used your internet search method up to 200 mi away. I have found 2 listings I got offers on for a Base GLS automatic. both around $16500. One is 50 mi away and other is 20 mi away..not bad! I'm hoping to do even better, but those are lowest so far. I wonder if there are any Factory to dealer or other rebates or redictions I can ask for..I still want one for $15K...my info is.......

$16,528+TTL or it is the OTD price?

What's the tax rate in MA?
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
What's the OTD price you told Hub Hyundai in Houston, and what's the number they offered?
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
Is the number you are looking for $15,000+TTL or $15,000 OTD?

You said the best offer you received is $16,500, so it's the OTD price?
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
I am wondering if Hyundai will give more rebates next month (actually starting from tomorrow). How do you guys think about it?
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
    I found this.

    #6645 of 6828 2010 Sonata GLS by clbrian Feb 19, 2010 (3:06 pm)
Conroe, TX - 2010 Silver Sonata GLS Auto

    MSRP: 20,620.00 w/ destination
    Sale Price: 17395
    - Rebates: 3500 (including 1k rebate for trading in a Toyota)
    = 13895
    +TTL: 1096.07
= total drive-out: $14991.07 (before the trade in, which took off another $500 for a 94 camry barely running).

    WOW......

Could we still get so sweet price?
  • manmanmmanmanm Member Posts: 7
Found 2010 sonata is now unlisted on hyundai's official website, slightly indicating 2010 price will go down. But think about 2011's relatively high price, hyundai will not let 2010's price too low, which may influence the new trim sale. So i think we can expect a little reduced price for the old one, like from 2500 incentive to 3000.
  • dansimdansim Member Posts: 6
Hi, it would be $16,500 + Tax, Title Reg. Sales tax is 6.25% in Mass so would be $100 Reg, Title and $1031 sales tax.so about $17900 incl TTR.....
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
May I suggest using the price from Cars.Overstock.com to help you negotiate? It helped me!
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
Do dealers believe that? Here in Houston normally they only accept the written quote from other dealers in town or proof of purchase from some customers showing low price that you are looking for.
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
The OTD price is about $700 higher than that I received in Houston. Sales tax is also 6.25% in Texas.
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
I simply used one of the overstock.com dealer-partners, got them to agree to the price, then had others closer to me attempt to match it. I'm in Birmingham, Alabama but the best price in the region was in Columbus, Georgia (130 miles away). Be willing to travel for the best deal (or make your local guys think you are) and you're liable to do better. :)

I wish you the best of luck!
  • dansimdansim Member Posts: 6
I'll also try overstock.com..see what I get there..thanks for suggestion..

  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
What's the price ($XX,XXX+TTL) you finally got? What's the sales tax rate in AL?
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
In Columbus, GA, I was going to get $16,300 + TTL = $17,100.

    I'm holding off for now.
  • moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
Good. In Houston I can get OTD $17,200. I think the price in TRUECAR.COM is more reliable than OVERSTOCK.COM

I know some people in VA and SC successfully hit $15,900.

Our 2004 Elantra was totaled last week so we picked up a new 2010 Sonata GLS manual for $16,668.72 OTD here in Kalamazoo MI. We might have been able to save a few hundred by shopping around but the dealer gives us $13.95 oil changes and free car washes. The finance dept. landed us a great APR for what we had to finance and this dealer has never done us wrong.

Sad we have a car payment again but so happy to have a bigger safer car with so many features and a warranty to back it up!
  • fourml8rfourml8r Member Posts: 8
i just picked up a sonata tonite.

    GLS w/PZEV 5-Speed Automatic 4dr Sedan
    MSRP: $21,405
    Included Packages and Options
    P2 - Popular package 2
    CF - Carpeted Floor Mats
    Ipod cable
Window etching (Did not want but was already on the car)

I paid $17,900 out the door here in NJ.

I could have gotten a base model MSRP $20,720 for $17,100 out the door but really wanted one with the P2 package.
  • liem123liem123 Member Posts: 2
What dealer in NJ, please? Thanks.
  • fourml8rfourml8r Member Posts: 8
towne hyundai in denville. also got same prices from franklin sussex hyundai in sussex but they did not have one with P2 package left.
  • dansimdansim Member Posts: 6
Great suggestions on this forum!! I tried OVERSTOCK.COM AND GOT A SURPRISE offer of $16,543 on GLS w/ the P2 package. I'm in MA. Previously that was best for a base GLS. Hope I can leverage that offer w/ a dealer a bit closer since that one is 54 mi away. More emails in the AM!! I'll give truecar.com a shot in the morning and see what I get.
  • fourml8rfourml8r Member Posts: 8
you will likely not get the same deal as of today. the $2500 hyundai rebate expired yesterday. not sure if it will be renewed or not.
  • jsmit86jsmit86 Member Posts: 116
I just got some more info on my order yesterday.
My dealer got the Allocation on 3/23. I signed the papers on 3/24.
I got notice yesterday that the expected arrival date is 4/9. Unfortunately, I will be on my way to Seoul, and won't be back until 4/17.
If I get lucky maybe I'll get the car before I leave, but it's looking more like I will have it when I get back.

The transaction was interesting.... It started on 3/12.

I have bought from this dealer before (Elgin Hyundai, in Elgin IL.) They have been good to deal with, but as always, I checked around and got several internet quotes. The happily matched the quote
(Limited w Nav, Cargo Mat, and Floor Mats Sticker $28.3K
    PAID $26.6 - .5 owner loyalty= $26.1 + TTL & Doc)
They also were did me right on the trade. They definitely wanted my business, so they took my car in trade, and gave me a 2010 Sonata Limited to drive until mine arrives.

Originally, we all thought they could do a dealer swap within a few days. I knew where a few were, and could have bought in Mid March. The problem was that no dealers would give up a NAV car unless they got NAV in return. My dealer had no navs to trade, and it took them a couple of weeks to get the allocation from Hyundai. While it's a bit tough to wait, I am pleased that they stepped up, wanted my business, and gave me a loaner until my Sonata arrives. They also were great when I completed the paperwork. Got the 2.9% with no hassles, and they respected my wishes to decline add-ons.

I will post more when the car arrives.

I'll never understand why people focus on out the door pricing on these forums when taxes and documentary requirements vary greatly state to state. Providing price + TTL is much more useful.
  • cooldesakcooldesak Member Posts: 15
I agree with everything you said:
    - IS, TSX, BMW, MB, they all can be expensive in maintenance. Solution: Hyundai's car is cheaper in maintenance, and plus with same amount of money, you get a brand new Sonata with America's best warranty
    - Paying more money just for the badge is not wise. That is true not only in car, but in everything else. Nevertheless, more expensive stuffs can be higher quality and more durable than cheaper stuffs, that's why research, test-drive, reading reviews can help you make right decision.
    - "It's still a Hyundai" --> well, Genesis is a Hyundai, and it was named 2009 North America's car of the year beating BMW, Lexus, etc...

Get internet quote, call several internet managers (not just a regular salesman), compare prices and make dealers fight for your business. Good luck.

Nope, didn't have any "add on options". What in the world could they be adding on anyways? The Limited w/nav ($28,300) includes everything already!
  • capplacappla Member Posts: 29
Hi - have you tried out the Associate Purchase Program as of yet? Let us know how it went with any dealer - did they honor the program exactly as advertised or were any additional fees requested (dealer fee, doc fee, etc.)

i bought it at towne hyundai in denville NJ, but was ot 100% satisfied here is why.

they show 3 slate blue (my preferred color) in inventory. i called 1 hour before going and was told all 3 were in stock. when i got there, i was told none left. did they really sell 3, nope. they just told me that to get me in the dealership.

one other area i did not like was that window etching is alreay included, no way to decline that option.

lastly, their doc fees were a little on the high side.

i had better prices from franklin sussex hyundai but they did not have any with P2 package.

so if anyone is going to buy from towne denville let me know because i get a $100 referral fee !!!!

After I start the engine, all the indicator lights will be on, and then automatically disappear in 2 seconds. But I think I didn't see all the lights on before. Just few. Is this a normal condition?
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
That's normal. Consider it a "self-check" of the instrument panel. You'll know the lights are working in case a malfunction actually does happen to occur later.

I assume you are talking about right as you crank it, when the seatbelt chime dings, etc... right?

Every car I've ever driven does this. Go to youtube.com and search "Hyundai cranking" and I'm sure someone's posted something like that.

Not yet, but I may pull the trigger on a 2011 Sonata SE quite soon. I'll post the results if I end up purchasing the car.
