Anyone actually get a car through the Overstock program and have it go through as advertised? I see $16K for a basic GLS auto near Chicago which is tempting but does that price include the Destination charge, etc.?
• thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
If you're not a military man, add $500. My Overstock price-matching dealer said that price included a military rebate, otherwise. My price for a GLS Auto w/PEP was $16,300 + tax. All other fees were included in the overstock price (for this particular dealer, that is).

I'm in Birmingham, the dealer was in Columbus, GA.

Good luck.

Did you end up purchasing via the Hyundai Associate Purchase Program? If so, how was your experience?

Great forum!
I am new here. I am in the market for a 2010 Sonata GLS. What's the best deal in Houston area so far?
• goodwill1goodwill1 Member Posts: 4
Great idea!!

Let me know. I will be one of the group!

Just signed off today, picking up later this weekend:

2011 Limited without nav for $23,000 ( including $199 doc fee and $400 college grad rebate) + TTL.

What worked for me was I contacted a dealer on the AMEX program, then had another dealer better that by $500, and then finally had my local dealer match that.

Have a question..The monthly payment I signed off on is $2 more than what I calculate online using loan calculators. Its just $120 over the life of the loan..but just curious why the difference??

ASSUME YOU GOT THE ALLOY WHEELS, NOT BAD PAID $20,000 SAME DEAL, BUT MY COUSIN KNEW THE SALESGUY, NO WAY I WOULD HAVE GOT THAT LOW ON MY OWN

I don't have any group yet...I am thinking whether I should buy 11 sonata since someone says it has rough suspension and some road noise.
• jlindhjlindh Member Posts: 282
Have you driven the car? That's always a good start.
• goodwill1goodwill1 Member Posts: 4
"...it has rough suspension and some road noise." Which one has these problem? 2010 or 2011 model?

Yesterday I visited a local dealer. I noticed the 2011 model has higher MPG. The salesman told me the 2011 model has a improved fuel system. I like the 2011 model more but I don't think the difference worth $3000~4000.

Do you think $16500 OTD for a basic 2010 GLS is archievalbe in Houston?
• moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
Do you mean 2010 Sonata?
• moroccogoatmoroccogoat Member Posts: 23
Which dealer did you stop by? Hub Hyundai? North Freeway? Ron Carter?

What's the price you got?
• goodwill1goodwill1 Member Posts: 4
North Freeway. $16000+TTL

North Freeway looks much bigger than Hub. They have so many 2010s siting on the lot yesterday. I visited Hub about a week back. their lot was so small and very limited number of cars for you to choose.

Have you visited any dealer yet? what's the best offer you've got so far?
• akeiyakeiy Member Posts: 22
Yeah. I feel it is not so quiet as my current Camry. So I am not sure whether I should buy it.
• akeiyakeiy Member Posts: 22
I am talking about 11 Sonata. I don't know what is the OTD price for 10 Sonata. But the dealers in Houston seem to be not easy to negotiate with.
• midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118
Yeah. I feel it is not so quiet as my current Camry. So I am not sure whether I should buy it.

I just got rid of a 2007 Camry and bought the 2011 Sonata. No doubt the Camry has a smoother and quieter ride. But the Camry steers like a canoe. I prefer the better handling on the Sonata. I also prefer everything else about the Sonata. But you will not get the same quality of ride as the Camry.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will think about it.
• grdawggrdawg Member Posts: 5
I went to Towne Hyundai today and used your pricing as a negotiating tactic, I ended up with an SE 2010 with blue tooth for what would of been 19,500 out the door, but opted for 0% financing so instead paid 21,250 OTD with 0% for 60 months. I kind of regret not negotiating originally at the 0%, but still feel like I did pretty good. They only had 2 SEs left with blue tooth. I would assume I could still get you the $100 referral fee, so shoot me an email and with your info and I'll try to get it for you.

I agree. It would also be helpful if people would make a note of their home state (OH).
• montag311montag311 Member Posts: 8
It also matters a great deal whether you are leasing, have a trade-in, or are financing through the dealership. The dealership stands to make money on all of these things and they may accept less for the new car if they expect to make more from these other things.

I am in the market for a new 2011 Sonata Limited. I was promised a price before tax od $25,500 in the Chicago area. This is with the navigation package (so essentially the top of the line Sonata). So the at-the-door price would include taxes and no more than a few hundred dollars of other fees.
At this point I am basically stuck on color. So in the meantime I want to check if there are any recent buyers who would be willing to share their price information.
Anyone out there bought one recently? Is this even a good price?

25.5 is a great price. I paid $26.6 - .5 owner loyalty = $26.1 and that was competitive based on about 4 quotes. I bought from Elgin Hyundai. The only additions are Doc fee ~ $154 plus tax title and lic transfer.

At 25.5 who is the dealer, and does that include any special rebates?

I purchased a 2011 Sonata SE yesterday but I didn't use the Associate Purchase Program (APP). During earlier negotiations, I had the price of the car down to $21,485. The APP website gave a price of $20,699 BUT you had to add delivery ($720) and an ad fee ($230 I believe). Therefore, my negotiated price ended up being lower than the APP price. I ended up purchasing the car at the $21,485 price.

From what I have read here in this forum, the dealers in some areas of the country are not dealing at all on the 2011 Sonata. If you are in one of those locations then maybe the APP program would be of benefit. Where I live (Tampa Bay area of Florida) the dealers are pricing the Sonata quite aggressively and the prices are lower than the APP price.

I am in the market for a new 2011 Sonata Limited. I was promised a price before tax od $25,500 in the Chicago area.

I bought mine, Limited with NAV, from Loren Hyundai in Glenview. I paid $25,468. But that includes the extra charge for the Pearl White paint. I bought it through the Internet sales woman after a request for a quote. So $25.5K is maybe $200 higher. But if the dealer is close to you, I wouldn't try to squeeze every penny out of the deal.

How would you like to go to a Hyundai dealer and look at a new 2011 Sonata with a sticker price of 26,200 and then also listed under that "Dealer Adjusted Value" of 1,200. added to the 26,200 bringing total to 27,400. It's not dealer added options it's just dealer adjusted value. I went to two other dealers and they both had the same car at 26,200.-no dealer anything.I guess that first dealer is selling the Sonatas like "hotcakes" or they will start at the 27,400. and then come down making it look like you got a bargain.
• bestdealsnowbestdealsnow Member Posts: 2
I received an offer for a GLS Sonata 2011 OTD for $20,400 is that a good price? I tried to get the P2 package but said they would not have no more inventory until next month. The SE apparently has a better value then just the GLS so everybody has purchased the SE for 22k-23k OTD. Can anyone with a purchase elaborate on this? Thanks guys :lemon:

Just get car today at MA.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited (Carpeted Floor Mats info, Wheel Locks , iPod Cable ) MSRP 26,200
Invoice is 24,620
agreed at 23,400.
Trade in car is 2,000

so tax is (23400-2000) *0.0625 =1,337

Hope this can help some.
• usfarbuo1usfarbuo1 Member Posts: 35
bnbn2000.
Mind if I ask you is the bottom line 23,400. after the 2,000. trade in?
Also I live in Ma. as well and if you can could you give me the dealers name and / or city. I've been looking at the limited as well but the dealer has tacked on 1,200. on top of the 26,200. Dealer calls it "dealer adjusted value" which, obviously, is a "ripoff'". This dealer I have worked with is in Danvers, Ma. I like the dealer as I have bought two cars there is four years but I don't like this 1,220.added charge.I see other dealers on the internet charging the 26,200. as they charged you.
Thanks for any info. Great to live here where we have to pay another 6.25%-isn't it?
• midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118
Great to live here where we have to pay another 6.25%-isn't it?

Don't feel bad, as a Chicago resident I paid 10.25% sales tax. We haven't paid 6.25% here since about 30 years ago.
• batch5batch5 Member Posts: 13
I'm in MA [Boston area] as well and worked out a price of 23,200, before doc fee, rebates, and TTL (net price before TTL was 23,000) for a limited w/o nav (ipod cable and floor mats).

I suggest you work the many dealers off each other. Start with the AMEX program:
https://amexnetwork.secure.zag.com, to get a below invoice quote then work that price with the other dealers. Do everything by e-mail. Some will respond, others won't. E-mail your local dealer last with the best offer to see if they can match.

batch5

Thanks very much for the info. I did go on "amex" and saw the figures I have been on "true Car" website previously so I had some idea of what to pay. But I guess it comes down to whoever wants to sell you the car the most. Sometimes I wonder how the car dealers stay in business with all the info. out there but I guess they depend on people not bothering to check.
Good luck with your Sonata.

I made my calculations for this 2011 Sonata GLS/auto/P2 package. That is included with alloys, power seats, interior upgrade. The best I got was for $22,500 before taxes ll, all the fees. The total I am getting minus $1000 dealer incentive, $632 holdback was way below what the counter offered. What did you guys pay if you can help me out it would be great. If I added taxes, fees, this car would be well over 24K OTD and I believe it is too high better to get the SE model. :lemon:
• cantasticcantastic Member Posts: 2
you should consider a SE instead...a dealer offer me 24k OTD. Can anyone confirm this is a good deal in Caifornia? :)

Just a quick question... Can I get an invoice price on an 11 Limited in SE PA Philadelphia region? My Dad is shopping one and he was told they're flying off the lots and nobody is giving invoice. I told him that's bs.

Thanks.

Hey Everyone,

I have shopped a number of vehicles and fell in love with the 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE.

I live in Aurora, IL (Suburb of Chicago) and am wondering what a good lease price on an SE with floormats would be in the area? I have gotten quotes ranging from $350-380 a month with no money down (sans first month/sec), everything rolled in, and 36 months/12,000 miles.

Any thoughts? Thoughts on a dealer?

Thanks,

Anyone have a lead on a good dealer in Southern California? Looking for a Limited/Nav.

I am finding them pretty rare.

Thanks in advance
• jsmit86jsmit86 Member Posts: 116
Limiteds are in somewhat tighter supply vs. GLS. Models with Nav are in very short supply here in the Chicago Area, and are selling pretty quickly.

I got a pretty good deal from Elgin Hyundai on mine. Limited with NAV, Pacific Blue with a Gray interior. List was $28.3K, Paid $26.6 - $500 loyalty, so $26.1 + Tax TTL Lic and Doc Fee (standard doc is ~$154 in Illinois)
I have seen a couple that were just a bit lower, but many that were significantly higher. Another dealer nearby (Rosen) had the car in stock in mid March, but wanted full MSRP, plus they were $1K less on my trade-in.

I signed up in Mid March. They took my Infiniti G35 in trade, and gave me a 2010 Limited to drive until my car arrived. All in all a very good experience. The service has been good at their dealership. We got a 2009 GLS for my Son last summer.

My Son picked my car up on Saturday. Unfortunately, I am in Seoul right now on business, so I can't drive it until Sunday
• midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118
I was able to get my Limited (in white) with NAV for 25,468 from Loren Hyundai in Glenview with no rebates of any kind. Worked the deal through the Internet manager. Got mine back on the 3rd of March so I don't know if they knew at the time that there would be any demand or not. Still worth giving them a shot although it would be a little drive from Aurora.

Just looking for opinions on price here. Found a 2009 Limited 4cyl in beautiful shape. 15,000 miles, asking $17,999, I tried to get them under $16K but lowest they would go was $16,700 (plus tax and title). I'm tempted to stay firm and look elsewhere but that car keeps creeping back into my thought process. Probably sold new for at least $20,000, no? Thanks....

I'm also in the Tampa area, I've been looking for a 2011 Limited, so far I've seen a couple of dealers posting it at 23,8K but with fine prints stating around $500-700 more for delivery fee or something like that, all that before LTT. The posting prices sound good but I'm afraid it's only a bait to get you there and then they come out with not having the same car or some additional fees. let me know if you are getting serious offers, maybe we could pair up and get a better price.

"Souks posted on Apr 10 2010"
In my city Limited's have been hard to come by. My car would be the 2nd limited with Nav the dealer gets in and only the 3rd Limited total. They have a few GLS and GL on the lot aready. Most of the other dealers I visited have the same situation, GL and GLS available for immediate delivery but only a handful of Limiteds have made it in.

Waiting for two months for my preferred model/color, and still nothing on the horizon !

And I have 4 dealers locally to choose from. Between them all, I'd estimate they have about 35 units total, of the 2011 model Sonata. Not a single NAV among them; only 3 Limited models. All the rest are GLS & SE. All dealers say that every NAV that comes in is already sold, and most LTD models as well. They are trying hard to talk customers into accepting the less-equipped models.

I'm starting to get this feeling that they DON'T want to sell "my" model to me because all of them gave me a very good price, two months ago, and now they realize they can get a premium price for the LTD/NAV units that they do get.

It seems this situation (LTD and/or NAV scarcity) is the same all over the country, from what I read in the various forums. Soon most dealers will be very unwilling to give good discounts on these scarce models. I guess that means the GLS/SE buyers will continue to get really good deals.

Any dealers reading this? Willing to respond?

Rick

to "laderaking" in southern california:

I'm also in S.California and I have been waiting for my local dealers to come up with a LTD/NAV sonata: two months waiting so far, and nothing yet on the horizon.
I've told them (4 dealers) that I'll be at their lot the moment they locate one, to sign the paperwork, but there's just none around. Absolutely none with NAV and very few Limiteds, unless you want a white or silver one.
One dealer told me (and said not to quote him on this) that in California ANYTHING with NAV showing up anywhere is already sold, and likely for above-sticker price.

So if you already got a quote from any dealers for your model, expect them to sell it to the highest bidder and not to you. If you find one at MSRP, better scoop it up immediately.

That's the reality here in CA, and I imagine the same thing will be coming to a state near you.

has anyone done the $199 lease offer advertised on tv? anyone get it lower than that? i just need the base model. also, supposedly there is $750 knocked off if you currently own a pontiac car. do you know if this would apply to the lease and knock that $199 payment down even more?
• blaholdingsblaholdings Member Posts: 10
Ordering/Availaibility: What is the process for a dealer to request / order a new car? Do they select the trims and options they're interested in, or do they simply tell the mfg they want 10 Sonatas, and then they get whatever they get? If I'm willing to wait 2 months for delivery, is there any reason a dealer wouldn't be able to order and receive my configured car in that timeframe? I assume the net cost of a dealer purchasing a car is less if they sell it immediately as they receive it (vs having it sit on the lot and they pay interest on it), and thus they would be willing to accept a lower sales price if you wait for new delivery --- especially since you also aren't preventing them from selling existing inventory to another customer in the mean time. Are dealers restricted in the number of models they can order?
