wow... what a deal... how were you able to get it down so much ? is it because u went thru usaa? because i can only get the dealer down to 20,400 after all rebates....
  • jpmenserjpmenser Member Posts: 3
I got the price quote from USAA however there are no affiliated dealers within 200 miles. I presented the USAA price to my local dealer and they agreed to match it. Then they also gave me the two additional rebates.

I got a quote for a new 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE for $21,998 plus tax, fees and license. I am in Northern CA. Is this a good price or can I do better? Thanks.

Just picked it up about an hour ago. With floor mats and iPod cable in White Pearl ($200 premium), price before tax was $25,468.

I live in northeastern Ca. I have a quote for $21,778 and that includes wheel locks,Carpeted floor mats, and iPod cable. I believe my dealer is the best and most fair in Nothern Ca. In 2005 my daughter bought a 2005 Elantra from them and she says the service people are priceless.

I just paid $25,468 and that included the $200 premium for the Pearl White paint. I thought that was a great price.

They still have 2.9% financing up to 60 months and 3.9% for 72 months. I took bank financing for 3.59% for 72 months.

What was your full sticker price? Also are you in the Chicago Area? If so what dealer?

    Thanks!

Sticker was $28,450. That included the floor mats and iPod cable. Yes, I'm in Chicago. I got mine at Loren Hyundai in Glenview. I did it through the internet/fleet sales person.

I bought my 2011 Sonata Limited (silver) without NAV from Chicago-land's Gartner Hyundai for $24,500 as the base price. MSRP was somewhere around $26,200.

Maybe us Chicago owners should get together sometime and have a 2011 Sonata launch / purchase party :)

went to check out the 2011 sonata and found one i liked in black.msrp is $21,050.00 and the dealer isn't budging from msrp..i have never paid msrp for a car in my life and iam not about to start now..i think i'll just wait for all the hopla to die down and maybe there will be some rebates in effect to bring the price down although i don't anticipate that happening anytime soon.

You should be able to get at least 1k off msrp but you may have to travel a bit to get it. Better off waiting. If you live near st. louis there are plenty on the lot here so you can deal.

Can anyone suggest reputable SoCal Hyundai dealerships? Looking to get a 2011 Sonata and would prefer going to a volume dealership in the area (if they exist).

Denver metro area; Pacific Blue Limited, no Nav, quoted a $412.00 payment, including taxes (about 8% here), etc., 36 months, only first month's due at signing, 12K per year. MSRP $26,115.00 so no navigation, maybe mats and iPod or something small. Is this a decent quote? Assumes my excellent credit and no trade-in....
  • jbariljbaril Member Posts: 43
Later this evening, another email arrived indicating they could probably get the number below $399/mo....hmmm. Car man, somebody help me. Again, no cash out of pocket save the first month, and including all taxes, fees, etc.
  • al_in_atlantaal_in_atlanta Member Posts: 1
I do not understand WHY people LEASE autos as reasonably priced as the Hyundai Sonata. I just bought a 2011 Limited for the 2.9%/60 mo. term and my payment will be $395. This includes a 60 month free-maintenance service contract that also covers the "loopholes" in the "bumper-to-bumper" warranty, which it IS NOT, and GAP insurance. What will you leasees have to put down on the next vehicle you decided to LEASE? Or are you going to save money for a lease down payment while paying the same monthly payment as do we buyers? Just NOT good economic sense unless you own a business. Leasing is dumb, dumb, dumb.

msrp 26115, sale price 25000, .58 residual, .00095 money factor, 36 month, 12k per year, $595 acq fee >>>>>>> $329 per month (pre-tax). NOTE: residual and money factor are from Feb 2010; not sure if they changed this month. If you get revised data, I can recalculate for you.
  • newowner10newowner10 Member Posts: 227
Would you please explain what ".58 Residual" is does that mean the car will be worth 58% of the list price at time of return? What is ".00095 Money Factor"?

As I am writing this, I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't because I really don't mean any harm or ill will. But it may be to your advantage to do some online research about car leasing. They explain terms such as "Cap Reduction", "Residual Value", "Money Factor" etc and they are calculators/worksheets that help you figure out the monthly payments.

It is difficult to explain these kinds of things in a forum. And the worse thing you could do is go into a dealership without a little knowledge of these things because they will use car jargon on you and inevitably rip you off. You need to at least know the MSRP and Invoice Price of the car you are interested in buying/leasing.

Rule 1: - Don't put ANY money down on a lease.
Rule 2:- Negotiate a Selling Price for the car. Don't let them tell you you can't negotiate a Selling Price if you are going to lease.

I hope this helped a little bit.

well,my choice has come down to between the 2011 sonata or the chevy malibu ls.
although the sonata appears to be the better value the malibu does have a few nice features that the sonata doesn't have..just a few examples are...hydraulic hindges on the trunk instead of the old fashoned hindges, hydraulic hood lift instead of the prop rod, daytime running lights,ect...i can get a 2010 malibu for around $18,000.00
while the hyundai dealers are not budging from msrp on the sonata...
  • shabadoo25shabadoo25 Member Posts: 232
You're going to the wrong dealers with Hyundai. I got $2,500 off MSRP for my Limited, including owner loyalty.

I know that people's needs differ, but picking one car over another based on hood and trunk openings seems wacky to me. However, I can't speak intelligently about the Malibu because I never shopped it.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
The Sonata brochure says the Sonata has DRLs. :confuse:

You'll have to decide if having hydraulic props on the hood and trunk are an important consideration. To me they would be in the "nice to have" category.

Please consider educating yourself on the leasing process before you go back to a dealer. It isn't difficult once you understand the pieces of the puzzle. If you can do algebra or a simple spreadsheet, you can understand the lease calculations. check out this site for leasing 101:
    http://www.leaseguide.com/lease07.htm
I can recalculate a payment for you once you provide the necessary info.

Does anyone know the March lease rates for the 2011 Limited (i.e. Residual Value and Money Factor)?

    Thanks in advance!
  • jbariljbaril Member Posts: 43
.00095 money factor, 58% residual on Limited
  • pegasus17pegasus17 Member Posts: 536
    REF: 6689
According to my dealer source, rates are the same as Feb 2010:
    GLS 60% .00048
    Ltd 58% .00095
Both for the standard 36 month, 12k per year lease with 595 acq fee (and
    $400 disposition fee)
  • jbariljbaril Member Posts: 43
    I have a quote from a fleet guy who will sell a Limited $26115 for $1000 under invoice ($24,671 - 1000 = $23,671), which combined with taxes, fees and .00095 and 58% = about $325.00 for 36 mos/12K, nothing due except first month's....

Sales price is great BUT my pre-tax calculation is $291 per month based on your data. They must be slipping something else in there because i doubt tax is $34/month. Have them itemize the fees for you.

Interesting how your quotes have gone from 412 to 399 to 325. That's what this forum is for - education and cooperation :)
  • newowner10newowner10 Member Posts: 227
I have no intention of leasing a car.
Is it not the bottom line that matters( Down money monthly payment).
It appears you are itemizing the method the payment is calculated.

Yeah, that is pretty high...something else must be in there. I'm gettting a LTD for $26,000 and my monthly amt before tax is $322...which includes the aquisition and document fees.
  • midas69midas69 Member Posts: 118
Tax can add big $$$ to the lease rate depending on where you're at. Sales tax here is 10.25%. On my limited with NAV that came to over $2600. Then add $200 more for license and another $150 for doc fees and you're almost at $3000 extra. On average, you can usually figure roughly $30 a month per $1000 extra on a lease. So unless you come up with those numbers out of pocket you're talking about adding about $90 a month.

Just came from dealer and they gave me a deal on 2011 sonata LTD no nav.
$2,300 down and $305 per. 3 yrs 36k. Is this a 1) good deal 2) fair deal 3) bad deal. Suppose to make decision by this sat 3/13. Any help is welcome. THX

    Hello everyone,

I am in the market for a 2010 Sonata GLS Automatic Price and have done a little research. It appears that the best advertised price is from the west coast for 14,975(http://www.hyundaiofeverett.com/AdWizardAd/3514003). I have asked my local dealer to match it but was asked to provide a proof of the paid price. I wonder if someone who has got similar price can scan/email me a copy of the receipt (marisolita7_at_gmail.com). For your privary, please blackout your personal information. Thanks!

Just from looking at the numbers you gave, I'll say 3) bad deal. I am getting a LTD w/nav and I'm paying $322/mth before tax with nothing down.

Just for calculation sake I used the MSRP and Invoice price for the LTD w/carpet and Ipod cable and here's what I got.
    MSRP: - 26,150
    invoice - 24,275
    Acq Fee - 595
    Res Value - 58%
    MF - .00095
mthly pymnt (before tax) $312.74 [and that's with nothing down!].

GATEWAY Hyundai, Col Hts Va...excellent deal all the way through.

He can't keep 2011's on the lot....I've been watching.

Paid $21K and some change for a 2011 SE in Silver w/ grey. Car is worth every penny.

Thanks Shuale_ejs. Can u give me dealership and your sales persons name PLS that sounds like a great deal.
  • awahooawahoo Member Posts: 15
Gateway in Colonial Heights, VA is a great dealer, and I agree that they cannot keep the 2011's on the lot. On 2/26/10, I purchased a 2011 Limited (MSRP of $26,150) for $23,000. Did all this through their internet manager. Paperwork was completed in about 1.5 hours and I was out the door. I love my Limited in every respect.
  • jsmit86jsmit86 Member Posts: 116
I just made a deal for a Sonata Limited with Nav. MSRP $28,250 paid $26,640 plus Tax, Title, Lic and $154.38 doc fee. I will also get the $500 Hyundai loyalty rebate. I had 4 internet quotes within a few $$, and my dealer matched it. They are dealer trading for the color I want, and I will be picking it up next week. The actually took my trade and they gave me a loaner until my car is ready. :D (I negotiated the trade separately, @ACV, got a competitive price on that) My dealer is Elgin Hyundai in Elgin IL.
We bought my Son's 2009 Sonata there this summer, and they were very pleasant to deal with.
  • drkyedrkye Member Posts: 5
nice job on the trade with the loaner. "@ACV"?? what is that?
  • jbariljbaril Member Posts: 43
So, it ended up at $326.80 per month including all taxes and fees/36 mos/12K. Pacific Blue Pearl/grey leather. $26115.00 MSRP. I had 3 dealerships fighting; one fleet guy at Arapahoe Hyundai didn't even mince words: he said he would sell the car for $1000 under invoice, no dealer handling and I could lease it at that price (which is around $324-325), but I'd have to wait a week for a car and it was silver: they were all out of Limiteds. So, Planet, which is 26 miles closer to me, gave up haggling and simply matched it (within a buck). It's only got carpeted mats, but someone left wheel locks in the trunk (I could care less, but I've got 'em).

Now if I could just figure out what that annoying little rattle or bouncing object is left front.....otherwise, I love the car--the color is beautiful in the sun.
  • jsmit86jsmit86 Member Posts: 116
Trade in ACV is actual cash value, vs the inflated price of a trade off of the full MSRP.

    Hi everyone,
Good to read all your informative, exciting, friendly posts in this forum about Sonata 2011.
I just joined here, please pardon if I show any noob-ness : ))

I've been following this forum for about a month because I'm really looking into buying this beautiful car. And finally today I can't resist to join and ask some questions. I'm just an average driver who likes a comfortable, stunning, functioning, safe car. I'm not horse-power thirsty, so no v6 in Sonata 2011 really is not a big deal for me at all. I'm not crazy about sport-car suspension feeling either.
2011 sonata is definitely something in its class, but it is also definitely not a perfect car (I dont think there's any).

So I test drove 2011 Sonata Limited this afternoon. Two words: "I'm impressed" (I guess that's three words"...). It's smooth, soft, effortless, firm, attention-getter. It was sooo windy at that time on the highway, but somehow that car wasnt shaky at all (especially compare to what I drive every day, Altima 2003).
But there is one thing concerns me a bit:
I notice the blind spot is pretty bad on the driver side. I've got to turn my head to look thru back seat's window to see if there's a car next to me, and luckily I did it, because there was really a car there and I barely saw it in my side mirror!

Anybody feels the same way? Is it just a coincidence?

Another thing is about Pearl White color. The salesman said it's more expensive because the paint has like crystally stuffs in it so that when sun shines to it, the car can look like changing color when looked from different angles. Any comment guys? and Is it worth paying $200 more for Pearl White color, you think?

    Thanks!
  • shabadoo25shabadoo25 Member Posts: 232
The car does have a pronounced blind spot. However, that's the price you pay for the sloping roofline which produces smaller back mirrors. You would find that problem in any similarly designed car.

I bought the black version, so I can't speak to the value of the extra cost of the white paint. However, if I really wanted the white car, it wouldn't stop me.
