Can you give information which dealer shop?
Thank you.
Thanks!
Worth every penny
Just enjoy your car knowing most are paying close to MSRP and you got a very good deal for a hot car!
I definitely wouldn't ever pay close to MSRP, especially for a new kid on the block, relatively speaking!
I have ordered SE with no options except mats & wheel lock for OTD of 22,600? How much does that compute"Off MSRP?"
In this forum the meaningful format should state the selling price (w/dest. inc.) than the sales tax (if applicable), dealer fees and title and reg fees. OTD is only relevant for same states and it helps since Hyundai dealers vary by their doc./process fees.
For Example:
S.P. with dest. (state) ......
S Tax .........................
Doc./Process fees..........
T & L............................
Cpn.( disc).......................
Total OTD............................
If you do so, the dealer will play with numbers all to his advantage. Your trade in should be determined by the KBB not the car's purchase price and only mentioned as the last stage of the deal. Dealers love it when customers walk in and announces that they want to trade in.
BTW Car Max will always beat the new car dealers's trade in price except you will lose the sales tax saving.
Most salesmen will tell you it doesn't matter. They will be able to sniff out a trade-in anyhow. And it's not like they're not going to ask about a trade-in when you pull up in your used car to buy a new one.
Even if you spring a trade-in at the last second, they can still fatten their profit margin if you are too focused on your new car price and not what you should be getting on your trade.
Your trade in should be determined by the KBB not the car's purchase price and only mentioned as the last stage of the deal.
Dealerships determine what your trade-in is worth from going by auction house prices. This is often much lower than KBB. Use KBB, Edmunds (
I have not ever traded in my car, but I just helped my sister with her LX-P purchase. The dealer agreed on 19,200 plus TTL and than she blurted out that she wanted to trade in her 2005 Camry LE with 40k & immaculate condition. His tone and attitude changed and now he wanted to sell LX-P at 19,200 ONLY if she traded in at 7k. We walked out and she sold it for 10k and we went back and got the LX-P at same price.
BTW Car Max was giving her wholesale price of 8.500. Dealer would have done the same if she had waited. The retail value is about 11k.
ALL THAT MATTERS IS THE DIFFERENCE. I have purchased cars, where I tell them what I want for my trade, and what I will pay for THEIR car. That equals the difference that I want to pay. Then at the last minute (for whatever reason) they will change the numbers (sell price/trade in) of the cars. BUT THE DIFFERENCE WILL REMAIN THE SAME.
I could care less. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE.
$19,200.00
- 8,500.00

$10,700.00 tell them to take it or leave it. (It's up to you if you want to sell the car yourself or not.)
Actually, dealers like to pay top dollar for a trade (and charge top dollar for the new) because they can then show the used car buyer what they actually paid for the trade-in.
The buying public doesn't beat the dealers at the dealers game. Some get great deals and the uninformed can get hosed, but the dealers always make out OK . They have to in order to stay in business. That's a good thing.
GLS w/PEP $20,686 plus TTL
SE $22,056 plus TTL
keep in mind SE w/nav is very tough to get! Color choices are not even a choice here in NJ, I waited two months for white, I ended up with Pacific Blue.
Va sales tax is 3% plus about 70 for tags.

MSRP on this Sonata SE was 23,735 .... Costco price is 21,635. No haggling, no games. I was very tempted to pull the trigger, but I am going to wait for the turbo and if I can get the same deal with the turbo, I'd be looking at around 23,000 for an SE turbo, with costco pricing. Right now this offer throu costco excludes the limited due to very low inventory on the limited. If your really looking to buy this car, my advice is spend $50.00 and join costco and find out which Hyundai dealer is participating. You'll get a very good deal and no haggling at all.
