because of the change, I really don't know. My salesman is new in the buisness, and when I asked
for the vin# he said oh' its to early for that.My
wife called him today and did get a vin# and DORA.
of witch I just learned of. Now I hope to find out
when my order was received by Ford motor co. when
I placed my order, it was for a 99. Sometime around July I was told that it would end up being
a 2000. As for the check from Ford, I asked him
about it when I read it on this site. He told me
that they were delayed in getting the paper work
to Ford, but I should be getting it. So far nothing. That is why I think my order didn't get
sent when we made our deal. When this truck comes
in, I should get it for dealer cost! what do you
think?

That was true last year, but I think it's changed for 2000. In 1999, the Lariat interiors were tan. If you got the 2-tone exterior paint, the bottom strip was tan for the Lariats and silver for the XLTs. I took a quick look at the Kelley Blue Book site www.kbb.com. They have some of the color combos for 2000 listed. If you get 2-tone paint, they appear to have several color combos for the Lariat, including bottom strips that are black, gold and something metallic. I believe they discontinued the Prairie Tan exterior paint.
As for the interior, they only list one color called Parchment. I have no idea what color that is. Although that is the only interior color listed, there is a reference note that says it is not available with a couple of the exterior paint options. Also some of the paint options say you have a choice of interior color option *H or 2, which also implies that there is more than one interior color. A local dealer should be able to bring it up on his computer and let you know what options are available.
Langra,
What is the difference between the quote on the new truck and the price of the used truck? Why is the guy selling it? It might just be because he expected better mpg or it's more truck than he bargained for, but I'd ask for service records to make sure it wasn't a lemon. Also remember that they did make some changes for 2000. The V-10 will have either 290-310 hp, compared to 275 for the 99 and it will have 425 torque compared to 410.
A price like that is pretty good, almost too good.
Here on the front range of the Rockies a 97 with twice the miles would be advertised at a minimum of 3,000 more than 23,500. If there is no problems, Major wreck reconsruction, no power, (bad engine), It sounds like one hell of a deal for a 99 V-10, SD.
Good luck

The V-10 with the 4.30 will be in the 11.5-12.5 range on the hwy.
Langra,
If it's a 4wd with ESOF and was produced in the spring of 98, you might also want to verify that there were no problems with the ESOF or that the issue was corrected. Early in the production process, they had problems with the ESOF. They changed the factory production to correct the problem, but several thousand trucks were produced before they made the change. If it's a 4wd, make sure you shift on the fly a few times. I took delivery of my truck in October 98 and the ESOF works fine.
If you look at my numbers you can see it's all how you spin it. If someone asks me what kind of mileage do I get on my truck, I could respond anywhere between 9 and 16 MPG and I wouldn't be lying. For example, when someone driving a Dodge diesel says "Whoa, that thing must be a gas guzzler," I respond, "Not really, I get about 16 MPG!"
Have you gotten any kind of update on build/delivery date, either from your dealer or the VOPC line?
Dave
Todays recall said that there is a fuel leak that is higher than allowed by regulation. It doesn't say, but I think it only leaks in a wreck. The recall is for all 99 Super Duties with short beds built before June 4,1999. And the ones built before March 21, 1999 need more improvements than the others.
The recall number is 99S11
$500 over invoice. We have someone who has been
interested in buying it, and maybe I could make an
even better deal selling it outright. I did call
the VOPC and it was sent out 8-28-99 with a destination date of 9-17-99. I hope it comes in
sooner, because there is a nascar winston cup race
in Loudon NewHampshire the 19th. I will need to
get the fithwheel hitch installed and elec brakes
wired. That's cutting it close.

I suspect Dale Sr. will be looking for Terry Labonte in his rearview the next few weeks. My money is on Earnhardt if Terry decides to exact a little revenge.
Hypertech has not gotten theres to work correctly. I pull a 11500# camper and would like to have a little more pep. You can never have to much power.
The Gale Banks site might be a good place to start:
www.galebanks.com
- what i have, works great.

Thanks

Congrats rflint....what made you go with the 5.4 engine? I know you were debating on either the 5.4 or the V10. What solidified your decision??
I hope this does not get delayed any longer - My GMC Z71 was stolen right out of my driveway and I need wheels.
Does anybody have the Ford OEM alarm system on their truck and is it any good or should I buy a aftermarket one.
I noticed that the Excursion offers a medium graphite leather option - why not on the SD and why can you get a 373 rear end on a CA V10 F350 but not on a CA F250. It think Ford needs to look at their build items a little closer. What I mean is that I though the more expensive (Lariat) should give you more then one option when it comes to the color leather you want.
I guees I'm guest getting a little anxious but with just cause.
Does anybody know how I can find out what's the reason for the delays on my truck. I have already seen many new 2K models on lots - whats up?
I wonder if the problem is the fact that I ordered a XL instead of an XLT. I don't need carpeting, or power windows etc... I run a landscaping company and need a work truck. Besides I got the things on the truck that I NEED, not the stuff that would be really nice to have. F-250,V-10,sc,Lb,srw,373 Ls,off road pack. A/C, I basicly got what I could afford. Even the price of this rasscle is putting me over our budget.
See post #439 about my vibration problem (99SD CC LB).
Greg
I ordered my truck back in May. I did however find out that I am in the next block of V-10's that are being built
Will thay run into this problem again in the near future??? I think so. I bet they are trying to get as many Excrusions on the road as possable.
If you are planning on or have all ready ordered a V-10 you might consider changing to a PSD. The KTP is rocking those out all day long. I have thought about changing my order, but, I have run the numbers and the famliy budget is all ready way over it's limit with what I have ordered, the PSD would really break my bank. I have thought about putting the camper package on it and rigging it up and just living in that, the wife did not think it was a good idea
Post 637 thanks for the info on V10 delays - that explains why my build date was pushed back two weeks. I also ordered mine in May.
No more delays please I need my truck. My order was a priority 2 so my truck should get built with yours I hope.
and it helped make up my mind. I purchased off
the lot a '99 SD SC Psd LB XLT for $75.00 over
invoice + $2000.00 Tradein on an old 3/4 ton Chevy with 212,000 miles(on it's last legs). I was pleased with the deal at Champion Ford in Shreveport, La. So far, the truck's great. Now if I can just keep my wife & teen-age daughter out of it, so I can drive it.
