The CE is the base model in the '07s. In '08, they don't call it CE anymore, they call it the "Base" model.

There are 2 differences - the LE adds keyless entry and a power driver's seat. They are identical in all other respects.

How much does windows tint normally cost? Also the paint protection really help? - just curiosity.
  • ramaxramax Member Posts: 4
It usually goes for around $250. I don't know if paint protection is worth anything, I alredy have one rock chip on a front.

Dealership paint protection is a overpriced WAX job. Camry paint is very soft and easily chipped. Clearbra (paint protection film) is effective for preventing chips. It is a clear vinyl like (easily removable) film. Really requires professional installation by a certified 3M installer. Worth the money - but won't be cheap. The e-bay stuff is cheap and is also CRAP. I love my Camry but am very disappointed with the paint quality.

You are the lowest one I saw so far for LE model.

    Wow!! That's a good price...

Got my Camry from Fitzmall.com (Gaithersburg location) about a month ago. They didn' have experience with registering a car in Louisiana, so I paid an extra couple of hundred to cover the cost. Got a refund check for the balance along with the license plate the state had sent them.

Hello everyone, I am in the hunt for a new Camry. I am looking for an LE 4 Cyl. My question is that: is it better to wait till December for better financing offers? Currently they offer 0% for 24 mons, 2.9% for 36%, and 3.9% for 48 mons.

Does Toyota usually offer lower rates in Dec.?

    Thank you.

I just bought a TCH in the Boston area with the comfort & convenience, preferred accessory, upgrade, sunroof, and leather seat packages, and XM radio installed, for $26,759, including destination charge. I don't feel that I bargained to the last possible drop of blood.

    No financing.

I live in Scranton, PA and just bought an '08 TCH with sunroof, leather, navigation, rear spoiler, XM radio, comfort & convenience, heated seats, floor mats, etc. for $28,596 (sticker $31,863) which includes destination and $500 consumer cash rebate. Total with tax and all other title fees was $30,436.

I'm shopping for a new 2008 Camry XLE 4-cylinder base model with vehicle stability and traction control and no other options.

What prices are people paying or being offered for this (or a similarly equipped) car in the Northeast?
  • apprehensiveapprehensive Member Posts: 14
    Dear anyone,

Interested in getting into a new 08 camry 36mo 12k mi/yr, (IN APRIL!) I turn in my previous camry lease then. I thought I got a good deal on my last one but after reading your posts I have no idea! I got the base model with black mirrors (gasp). Got it for $2K down (all inclusive w/1st payment) then 35 more payments of 175/mo. 12K miles/ yr, GAP included. The bus. manager cleared with the gen manager to get me into what they said is a loss leader (in the paper ad to get you in the door to buy up). The bus. manager then turned the screen and said they were actually losing some $ on the deal. He said he rarely ever sees camrys go for under $200, of course, this one has the black mirrors! I haven't seen any of these ads hit the papers yet with the sick cheap lease pricing (maybe cause there are 07's still around). Is there any hope for me to get a similar payment?

I want the lowest no frills model, even if it's a manual tran. Seatbelts would be nice.

I'm reading to negotiate the price then have the dealer work numbers, how do I know they aren't changing mf or adding any other bs? I'd like to go 0 down this time (except I guess the first payment/acq/sec (in other words no cap cost reduc?)
My wife and I still have tier 1 credit.
Thanks very much, also I live in Merrimack NH (southern, close to Boston area)

I am thinking about a 08 LE 4 cyl auto trans with leather but I am concerned with the transmission problems. I got one qoute for $ 21,488 plus t&t but to me hes not giving me the $ 1000.00 customer cash
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
The 4 cylinder / 5 speed is fine now, with the latest TSB (software brains).

It's the 6 cylinder / 6 speed that is causing some angst with some owners.
  • creedycreedy Member Posts: 1
I got a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid from Jack Taylor/Alexandria (VA) for $50 over their "invoice" price. I didn't get the leather or Nav, but I did get the upgrade package (UP), moonroof (SR), carpet mats (CF) and heated mirrors (HM). The price was $25,757. I took the $500 customer cash from Toyota, so out the door price = $25,257.
There seemed to be a lot of inventory in the DC area. Other dealership with aggressive pricing were 355 Toyota (MD) and to a lesser extent Koons of Arlington.
  • iplanetiplanet Member Posts: 27
How can you tell, if you have a latest TSB?

    Hi,

I am also planning to purchase 2008 Camry LE 4 cyl during the last week of november.

I have received quotes for 2008 Camry LE 4 cyl from different dealers and the lowest ones are below

Dealer1 : 19000 $ out of the door price (including tax, tag fee, processing fee, ..)

    Dealer2 : 20000 $ out of the door price. (excluding 500$ off or Financing Options 0% for 24 mons, 2.9% for 36%, and 3.9% for 48 mons).

Please let me know whether toyota offers any deals during dec.

Also let me know whether the Price quotes I received are the best ones (or) Do I need to bargain?

If you are in the market for a new or pre-owned Toyota....do your homework and shop smart, read pushing tin's blog, ask questions, and arm yourself with the tools and the knowledge that you'll need to get the most out of your next car buying experience. As a former car buyer myself, I know we can all agree that this is an industry that needs a serious facelift. Now that I'm on the inside - and can see what happens behind the curtain - I've decided that I can serve the public by sharing what I know, answering your questions, and working as your consumer advocate from the inside. I believe that in working on your behalf, and making you a smart shopper, that we can all be winners and change this shady game forever. Buying a car should be fun! Wouldn't you agree? So I ask you to please: share your experiences with me, let me know what I can do to help you, ask me lots of questions and lets get some dialogue going. The more people that we can get involved in our own little forum....the faster I can help you turn the tables in your favor for a change. Lets go!

read pushing tin's blog, ask questions...

OK, you're now an expert. Here are some of your quotes:

Toyota offers the safest, most durable, highest resale values of any car manufacturer out there - why worry about price?

I'm trying to understand why car shoppers seem to care so much about price...

... it will COST you three times as much to own this vehicle over a five year period than it will to own a Camry.

I'm starting to worry that the automotive sales industry is doomed, going the route of everything else that our 'fast food nation' has destroyed. Nobody really cares about service, if they did, would there really be this many restaurants with drive-thrus attached to them?

The bottom line, is all the American consumer seems to dwell on.

They shop at Wal-Mart, which means that have no interest in quality service or quality products, its all about fast and cheap.

Not even realizing that the fast and cheap way is crippling our nation, costing us American jobs in labor and service

I've read these with amusement. Don't get me wrong, I love Toyota's, but even Toyota has to be competitive. Several of your posts indicate you are young, inexperienced or both. However if you want to be successfull you need to keep your enthusiam for Toyota products but you need to improve on your understanding of what motivates people.

I'm curious, do you reallybelieve something like, say an Accord or Maxima, will cost 3 times more than a Camry over a 5 year period?
Also other than maybe the Tundra and the Camry SE, I would have a hard time calling anything Toyota makes as being especially "good looking". Get a grip on it.

I had 2 Sequoias and they were "plain" looking. I was happy with the quality, even though it was no better than my Expedition, and even the Sequoia depreciated as much as the Ford, and I had to have more money tied up in that purchase during ownership.

If you want to be taken serious by an "informed" buyer you just have to be able to see both sides of the conversation.

I'm an American consumer. I want it all. Price, bottom line and quality and resale. All my purchases are studied very carefully considering all that. It's always a trade off.

Good luck in your career. There will always be an automotive industry, it is not doomed. It's just that there will be winners and there will be losers. You've chosen a winning team; just try to better understand the "enemy" (your competition)

When TSB's are issued, they are printed listing the applicable Vin ranges of cars that the TSB applies to. Normally it will go something like this. They'll decide to make a change, and all new cars manufactured after Vin # 12345 have it applied automatically as part of the new build process.

They'll then issue a TSB to the dealers, saying that the TSB applies to any vehicle PRIOR to Vin#12345. They'll also give you a date that the change was made, which gives you an easier way to rule in/out your vehicle (hypothetically, if the change was made in april '06, and your car was made in june '06...then your car should have been built with it on it).

So the first thing you do is to look whether your car was made before the TSB issue date. If dates are close, check the actual VIN number. If you car vin is included in the TSB, then when you take to the dealership they'll verify it when they look your car up in their computer system. When they apply the TSB that effects performance/shifting at the dealership, that TSB indicates the dealership is to put a sticker on the underside of the hood, indicating the TSB was performed.

Just bought a 2008 TCH, white/tan (bisque), loaded (Nav, sunroof, leather package, convenience package) + mats pkg + first aid kit and rear bumper applique. Sticker price was $31217. Dealer offered $28,343 or what he called $300 over "dealer invoice". I accepted. I printed out a $250 internet discount coupon the dealership offered online which brought the price down to $28,063. Factoring in my dealer trade-in net of $3000 + Toyota discount of $500, led to an OTD price of $27,299. Not a bad deal.

Dealership was Kearny Mesa Toyota, here in San Diego.

    Hi!

I spent a good amount of time researching vehicles/prices on this forum and it saved me a ton of time (money?) in buying a new Camry hybrid for my wife.

I bought it in the San Francisco bay area for 24,732 + taxes = 27,000 OTD. I did most of the work by mail and spent no time at all in the sales person's room since we had fixed the price over mail itself.

Thanks to everyone for all their posts on the forum and making this a hassle-free purchase.

Is this a good price with the following add on:
floor mat, cargo mat, cargo organizer, shield protection, pin strip and tinted window.

    fees: $250
    tax: 6.25%

OTD comes out around $20,990, before the incentive or special finance.

Haven't sign the paper yet, another dealer saying this price is impossible to get, seems a $500 losing from the dealership by make such deal. :confuse:

Hi, i was actually thinking of getting a camry but decided to wait. I was quoted a few months back about 22,500 for an LE V6, no options. That was the price before any haggling. Seeing the accord is out now you guys should be able to pick up a LE v6 for a bit less. Here is part of the email.

May have done better negotiating with local dealer, by checking www.fitzmall.com before purchasing. Don't know your states tax rate, so hard to know how much of your 30.5 was sales tax. Here's one for 27.4 plus TTL
    Hybrid w/Leather, Nav, Sunroof

    or another for 27.3 +TTL
    Hybrid w/Lhtr, Nav,Sun
