i testdrove the camry LE auto with side/air. the listing price was 21315, and invoice is 19110. the car has more features than accord LX, though the acceleartion isnot as quick as accord, but it's enough for my drive. now the only thing left is, what would be a good offer price for this car? any suggestions? I remember reading there is formular to calculate the price, something like invoice-incentive-holdback or something? could someone please point me to the right direction and reasonable offer price for this automobile?
thanks

Stock 506150 has MSRP 21497 Internet Price 17972
Stock 572645 has MSRP 21400 Internet Price 17898
Stock 583657 has MSRP 21315 Internet Price 17882
Stock 572679 has MSRP 21165 Internet Price 17744
My 17344 price was basically 17744 price after $400 Coll Grad Rebate.
I am not sure why the price is different for these cars, even though the description for each othe these is the same. I read somewhere that Toyota raised the prices a couple of months back by about $150, maybe that could be it...
Obviously, I asked my dealer to match the lowest of these prices. Funny, thing is that the car I finally bought had a MSRP of 21501, still he was able to match the 17744 (or 17344 after $400 Col Grad Rebate) price, the MSRP of which is 21165.
My yahoo mail id is ppvpfh.
Anyway, my query: I found a car that I can live with- a Standard Camry w/5 speed (I wanted a SE but couldn't find one w/4 cyl. engine here in Central Texas). Greenish/Silver color but I can live w/that too. The MSRP is $16,645. w/a Manufacturer's Rebate of $1,250 or $750. depending on who you ask. They have offered the car to me at $16709. plus TT&L or a Driveaway price of $18,021. The original Sticker price was $19,081. Any comments, I'd love to here from ya. Alex

(But that is NOT our problem, haha!). liaison and happycamry, thank you both for
the warranty tip. I have a problem free 96 Camry (giving to my daughter anyway).
But the new camry has so many electronic circuits, I am thinking to get extended
warranty.
I recently was surprised to find a 05 Camry SE 5sp 4cyl. The dealer will not go below $20,433 and thats after the $1000 rebate in the Seattle area. That sounds high compared to the other prices I've seen on this forum. The car has the side curtain airbags, spoiler, sunroof, alloys, only a single disc CD, cloth interior and was made in Japan. Is this car really a rare find? I drove it and really liked the feel of the 5sp. Even checked on the insurance which is $79 per month. Just am unsure about the price...the plan was to lease it for 36 months, with a remaining guaranteed residual of $11,339. The special promotional lease expires on May 2 and the dealer is telling me that this special lease rate probably won't continue.
Any advice?
Thanks
The XLE Camry 4 cylinder is a great vehicle, extremely refined, quiet, exceptional quality, and very very economical. I drove the new Avalon several times and it is a great vehicle, however, the Camry is just as quiet and refined, slightly less interior space, but over $10,000less in price. Both are great cars, but writiing out check for $21.185 was a lot better than writing one for $30,800!
Enjoy your new Camry, it is a great car!
LE with side air bags and mats
invoice 19501 ( note: dealer showed me an invoive of 19599 ?),includes freight chg
rebate -750
18751 selling price
tax 1125
tags 300 ( need to pay for 4 years up front in New Jersey, new law) !
total financed 20176 @ 3.9% for 48 mths comes to $455/mth with 0 down.
I offered them $435/mth and I would take it today. They let me walk. How does this compare to other deals out there?
What is the true invoice cost? Is getting both the rebate and financing common now?
I purchased a 2005 Camry around a month back and recently received a survey from Toyota. Now in last 3 days the salesperson who sold the car and another person from customer service department have called me asking how my purchase experience was and if there is anything I would like to get addressed. But in the end they both mentioned that I should send the survey with highest ratings. Also the salesperson mentioned that if I leave it unfilled and drop it off at dealership next oil change will be free.
Overall I was pretty satisfied with my purchase experience but these calls and kind of pushing me to do something is little annoying  . I was just wondering why they are so particular about the survey ? Does this affect how much they pay to Toyota for this vehicle?
I'm going to give them a pretty decent ratings with some suggestions about including more safety features as standard equipment. Anything else you guys suggest I should mention...
Thanks!!
xpfshost - I am looking for a Camry LE too in NJ. The best price so far is 17700 from RT 22 Toyota in NJ.
Advertised in the paper for 16899 / quoted at that price on phone and paid 16899 (+ 200 doc fees etc..).(could have been 16495 with 500 student discount)
Is that a FAIR Price to pay?
No Hassle - No Haggle.Had the color I needed.

Hmm!!! very odd indeed. My dealership experience was pretty good and I let them know that on the survey but I was never called by my dealer and being pressured into giving them a good rating.
While trying to sell additional warranties / lojack / security systems they informed me that they are turning the video camera on to record the discussion. They told some people comaback later and say that they did not offer that with the car. However, I rejected every possible additional items they offered.
They did not pressure for anything, but thought was a bit unusual recording the conversation.
Anyone with similar experience?
Good luck with your car hunting..
Is the car you bought a LE or Camry Standard ? If its a LE, you got a unbelievable deal.
ajny - thanks for the dealer name...
I am from NJ area. Its almost impossible to find a Camry LE here with the DJ option (ie upgraded JBL 3-1, AM/FM, CD/Cassatte with 8 speakers)..
Secondly the lowest price in NJ is like 17300 for the CAMRY LE with out the DJ option.
I called the Boston Dealership and he is quoting me 16,700 straight up without any hassles (which is unbelievable) for the Camry LE with the DJ option and they have lot of cars available with that option... You guys are lucky to get such a great deal in Boston... I just dont know the details if I can buy the car in Boston and bring it to NJ.
I am also looking for that options in Jersey CIty area. Agree with your assessment. I may also want curtain airbags. Which boston dealership has this option available
Which Los Angeles dealer is quoting 05' Camry LE for $17,888 out-the-door? Is this one of those "one only at this price" teasers or do they have many at this price? Do you have the price breakdown as well? I live in SD and maybe I can convince a local dealer to match or beat this price. That would avoid me having to travel to LA. Thanks.
It's not a bad price, but I should have done better to get Ourisman to lower their $279 fee. Before I came in, my plan was to get them to match Darcars' $100 fee, but blah, it was my first new car negotiation so I was too soft ... a learning experience.

Has anyone from the DC area tried to get internet quotes from Koons? How was your experience? Obviously I asked for a quote on the Camry XLE, but the salesperson gave an off the mark reply "we sell Camry for as low as $16995", and promoted Koons $4000 off from MSRP. He actually called me up as well, and beat around the bush some more, but no actual number was ever given.
I wasnt going to waste my time on the phone again with that guy, so I sent him an email, telling him that even with the "up to $4000 off MSRP", Koons' price was still much higher than the ~$20,600 I can get from 3 different dealers, and that I dont even qualify the full $4000 since I am no longer a new grad .... and then asked what can he do for me?
The first sentence of his reply was: "We have a big sale right now, $4000 off MSRP for any Camry, and $1000 lowest price guarantee". His second and final sentence was "I need your business, please come in to Koons and see what I can do for you."
It's like communicating with some mindless zombie. All the other salespersons were great, so I guess it was my luck to get a soon-to-be-fired trainee to see the other side of things.
Thanks.
:shades:

However, maintenance has been OK, defects and rattles are minimal, I still like the car a lot. But I could see Honda or Hyundai take the lead away from Toyota by simply providing a better Sales and customer service experience.
